Chapter 29: Deep Sea Divers! – Unmask This Face

X was told to talk some precautions, yet Hush was a bit of a tease. The bag came off of the bat's head, the anchor at his back was just where it needed to be, the chains a double wrapping as Slade's robot stayed by the speed boat's helm while the teetering caboose was left to bat and son – twice removed.

Bruce coughed, the sea air salty and hard to not choke on, there had to be a way –

"That little hit really mangled you. Sorry. No S.O.S. I'm running a tight schedule."

"Ja…son…"

Hush growled and brought the anchor to flop, his strength barely enough as Bruce tried to speak in a hoarse croak.

"Jas…on…. stop…. –

"Too late, papa." Sneered the ex – hero, his brown beneath the wrappings not at all healed from the bots tearing at his flesh. Nano – bots, since Dick had just stood back like a coward to allow the man his soul and body. "Say hi' to Arthur for us, kay? Bon Voyage!"

With a hard fall, Batman was tossed in a backwards summersault into the waters of Steel's waves. He was unable to stop the flow of water from helping him sink; this old method would have been easier, had he been aware more since that hit had left a number. Jason wasn –

Batman saw a green swordfish and shut his eyes, the anchor going down…. down….

Just dropping lower than his heavy, weighted anchor.

"Cyborg, I'm not a zombie! Come on –

"Aqua lad, are you sure about –

The two had been butting fins and fists, while Starfire was sure she'd seen a bobbing going on in those waters and took to some rain clouds to find cover. The docks! She saw the two figures, one mechanical go into the warehouse up ahead as she commed her allies.

"I believe I have located the entrance to Slade's base." She told them all. "The Steel City docks' in the ship yard, the perfect place to plan the "sneakiest of the attacks."

Aqualad and Tram took to keeping poor Bruce from choking on the water still built up in his lungs. He expelled the rest, Bb's ears perking up as he prided them on saving the Dark Knight.

"I…were –

"He got you, big time." Aqua lad sighed, Bb scratching his chin. "You were known as the Houdini of your time, what happened?"

"Son…." Bruce gagged up some salt water as the freshwater mix had him coughing out the rest onto his side. "My son…. gasp*…. was on that boat…. ambushed…docks."

"Ah, so a minion." Aqualad nodded. "What did he look like? Did you see his face?"

"Called, Hush….my son…. Robin…"

"Rob?? Was he there?" Bb gasped aloud. "Who is…Hush…. again?"

"X…. was, was Jason." Bruce finally sat up with Tram's added strength. He squeezed the Dark Knight into a Heimlich maneuver, sputtering out the rest of whatever he'd had to be exposed to.

Even a small, flat black shiny pebble as Aqualad went to examine it. "Toxin. It had you barely able to get away. Not only is this enemy someone we barely trusted before…"

"Cy said to report. Starfire found them!" Gar's eyes went full blown as he saw the info on his unit.

" Stop them!" Bruce suddenly shouted. "It's a trap!!"

Slade waited in the shadows for his protégé to return from his spar with Rose. Both came out single file while Dick still refused to use decent eye contact.

"Rose." Slade looked to his youngest.

"Yes Sir?"

"Go help my associate, Hush for me."

She looked at him, thinking it was suicide. "Sir, the Titans –

"You can't do it?" His icy stare came at her as she fell back into line.

"Sorry, no sir. As you wish, sir."

"Good. Save for no prisoners, they have no right to be here."

Dick didn't talk. If he did, Slade might use a shock treatment or kill….

"We're about to see what the former "X" is capable of. Care to stand and watch, Apprentice?"

"N…yes." Dick refrained from falling into that trap as his leaden legs moved to flank the man back to the monitor screens. All four large ones, of his friends fighting one another without knowing where the true enemy hid.

Rose kicked the exit on her way out through one secret entrance. "Damn you! I'm not a flipping robot! You can't…. I don't…. want that brat to be your favorite. None of them approve…old man!" She stomped out, Dick and Slade seeing the scene on one further off monitor as Slade kept an eye on Rose's foul mouth.

"When I end up skewering that bat for brains –

Rose gasped as the face of a rather green-eyed alien princess met her, while Cy had found a shortcut thanks to Aqualad's scope of the area.

"You gonna run away an' hide?" Cy growled as he kept Hush on his knees.

"Or shall we fight for the freedom of our friends?" Kori finished, bolts ready to go as Rose put up her hands in self-defense, before snapping one set of fingers with a grin.

"Sic em, boys!"

Slade bots came from the ceiling like marionette dolls, claws out and lethal.

Starfire gasped as Rose pulled out her twin katana, the Princess pulling back to sweep out of the way of such a threatening half – meta human.

"She…I still as dangerous as before!"

"She's trying to buy her boss some time." Aqualad appeared with Batman and Bb as a cheetah, his speed enough as his body changed into a hornet once his wings were in her face.

"Get away!"

"Stings away!!"

"Don't! –

"Hush up, alla' ya!" Hush shoved Cy back while he was watching the mess unfold, his knees dropping as he dodged a shot by a Slade bot's weapon.

"There are a lot of lasers, dudes! What do we do??" BB was swatted by the angry pirate princess. Rose struck out a dagger to rip those wings off before BB turned into a tortoise and spun around, back saved.

"We're outta here, X!"

"It's…HUSH!!" The bat went after Jason, bolos to his legs as he skidded and slipped them to fly low. To drop up to Richard's level of a low bend. Gar gawked. Jay used his gun to press at the Bat's wits. His head was done popping up, Jason was a dead man anyway.

" Nobody, move!"

"Jason! You must not shoot the man of the bats!" Starfire pleaded. "You know him –

"I didn't get a respite from this billionaire load." Snarled the teen, gun cocked as Bruce tried to negotiate while Rose, tried to get away and contact her father.
