The first race of the playoffs, and the crown jewel: the Southern 500 at Darlington. 16 drivers will begin the quest to become the NASCAR Cup Series Champion! The only storyline is Gasket after her horrific crash at Daytona last week. She has been cleared to race, and all she has are two black eyes from the crash.

FRIDAY

Marshall and Everest were on their respective simulators to get ready for the race on Darlington with Cinder cheering them on.

"Come on you two! Faster laps! Better averages!" Cinder hollered.

"Cinder, I appreciate your motivation, but don't you think this is a bit much?" Everest inquired.

"In order for maximum focus, you guys have to train hard to win this championship, now hit it!" Cinder ordered.

(2 HOURS LATER)

Marshall and Everest were so tired from being on the simulator for a long time.

"How was that?" Marshall asked his sister.

"You guys are ready for tomorrow." Cinder said with a smile.

SATURDAY (PRACTICE)

Rick: A car seems to have damage. And it's the #8 of Rocky. We'll see how bad it is.

"I still want to qualify, but this car doesn't feel right." The mix told his team.

Rick: Here comes everyone to the line, and it's gonna be Skye! She wins the pole over her teammate Marshall. And that'll be a big help for tomorrow.

#20 Radio: Well done Skye. That's pole position.

"Woo! Let's get a win tomorrow!" Skye told her team.

"He said he has something special for his entrance." Rocky added.

"Wait… what's that?" Liberty said as she pointed to the sky.

"It looks like a-" Zuma started to say before someone interrupted.

"DRAGON!" Marshall hollered.

(PACE LAPS)

#11 Radio: Remember Marshall. You can't win the championship here, but you can very easily lose it.

"Marshall, it's Cinder. I'll be watching you and Everest to see how your lap times are. Other than that, have fun and race hard." Cinder said on the radio.

"Copy sis." Marshall replied.

#20 Radio: #11 on your outside, 10 weeks to win this title. Let's go.

GREEN FLAG

Rick: 16 drivers, 10 races, 4 rounds, 1 champion! THE CHASE IS ON AT DARLINGTON!

#20 Radio: Clear of the #11, get in your rhythm Skye.

LAP 34/367 Leader: Skye

#20 Radio: Pit this time Skye.

Rick: And Skye, Everest, and Marshall will all come to pit road. Everest and Marshall are already away!

Dale Jr.: What is going on with Skye? The jack fell and now she's away, but she's gonna be well behind the two leaders.

#45 Radio: #20 had problems, so you'll be the leader when everything cycles through.

"Got it." The husky replied.

LAP 45/367 Leader: Everest

Jeff: Skye was 8th when the pit stop cycle ended, and she passes Shade for 3rd! What a recovery for the cockapoo!

#20 Radio: You're doing good Skye. "Just let me focus! I shouldn't even be in this position!" Skye ordered.

LAP 62/367 Leader: Everest

Jeff: Sweetie has been struggling to stay on the lead lap. And it's allowed Marshall to close in to her.

Rick: She got held up again! And Marshall is side by side! How are these lovers gonna settle it going into turn 1?!

LAP 63/367 Leader: Everest

Cinder was watching on, afraid that they might make contact and wreck each other.

"Please don't wreck…" Cinder said to herself.

Dale Jr.: Into turn 1, Everest is in front. Oh she had to get out of the gas! Marshall takes advantage and takes the lead off of turn 2!

"Thanks Sweetie…" Everest sarcastically said.

LAP 68/367 Leader: Marshall

#45 Radio: Pit. We're gonna try the undercut on the #11.

"On it." Everest said as she slowed her car to get to the pits.

Rick: Everything looks good. That's a great stop for the #45! How is the #11 team gonna respond to this?

LAP 69/367 Leader: Marshall

#11 Radio: Pit this time. #45 just pitted.

Jeff: And here comes Marshall. His crew almost as fast as the #45. Now will he be in front of Everest?

Dale Jr.: No he does not! The undercut has worked perfectly for Everest! And she'll retake the lead when the cycle is complete.

#45 Radio: #11 is 1.7 behind. Excellent job.

"Great job pit crew. Keep it up." The husky replied.

LAP 86/367 Leader: Everest

Dale Jr.: Rubble's pace has dropped a bit. And he did hit the wall in turns 3 and 4.

#22 Radio: We scraped the wall, how's the car Rubble?

"I feel something sideways. It doesn't feel right." The bulldog replied in frustration.

#22 Radio: Try and hang on until the end of the stage.

LAP 91/367 Leader: Everest

Despite her decent lead, Marshall would catch Everest again.

Rick: Marshall has once again caught Everest for the race lead going into turn 3 #11 Radio: Get around her quickly.

LAP 92/367 Leader: Everest

#45 Radio: Just let him go. Follow him so we don't lose any time to the #5.

Dale Jr.: And he's gonna take it again! Marshall back to the lead at Darlington.

LAP 112/367 Leader: Marshall

Jeff: Oh, the #20 hit the wall very hard, and her pace is falling off, but not significantly.

#20 Radio: How's the car? "I think it's fine. Tires are just bad right now." The cockapoo told her team.

LAP 115/367 Leader: Marshall

#11 Radio: #45 seven back, no pressure.

Rick: He's been the dominant car so far, and as he comes out of turn 4, Marshall will win stage 1!

LAP 116/367 Leader: Marshall

CAUTION

#11 Radio: Awesome work. That's the green checkered.

"Yeah… someone's spinning in turn 4." Marshall said as he looked in his mirror.

Dale Jr.: The #23 of Claw has gone around. He was on the inside of Rubble and I think he lost it on his own. Doesn't hit anything, thank goodness.

"Sorry guys. I got greedy." The Doberman replied.

LAP 117/367 Leader: Marshall

Everyone would come to pit road for much needed tires and fuel. Marshall would keep the lead followed by Everest and Ryder behind. Meanwhile, Rubble's crew spent extra time to try and fix the car.

#22 Radio: Does the car feel better? "Kind of. We'll find out right now." Rubble answered.

LAP 123/367 Leader: Marshall

GREEN FLAG

Rick: Let's get stage 2 underway at Darlington!

Jeff: Excellent restart for Marshall, and Ryder takes 2nd away from Everest.

#11 Radio: #5 three back, get in your rhythm.

Meanwhile Skye fell back to 21st, and she knew something was wrong with her car.

"I think the toe link is bent!" Skye told her team.

#20 Radio: We'll get a caution and we'll look at it

LAP 150/367 Leader: Marshall

#5 Radio: In this lap, we're gonna undercut the #11.

Rick: Here comes Ryder! Oh, they're slow on the left side, that's gonna cost them a few seconds, and now we're seeing the #11 pitting I think.

LAP 151/367 Leader: Marshall

#11 Radio: Pit Marshall. #5 had a bad stop, we should be okay here.

Jeff: We see Marshall's crew working fast and another great pit stop for the #11 team, and he'll easily come out ahead of Ryder.

"Good work guys." The Dalmatian said.

LAP 180/367 Leader: Marshall

"Umm, why aren't the lights on in turn 3?" Rory inquired.

#17 Radio: We're not sure why they haven't turned them on.

#12 Radio: Ella, any complaints about turn 3?

"No, I'm fine. Just curious as to why the lights aren't on." Ella replied.

The officials caught sight of the lights out and decided that it needed to be fixed.

NASCAR Officials: PUT IT OUT! THE LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING IN TURNS 3 AND 4!

CAUTION

#11 Radio: Yellow's out for the lights.

"Really? I could see just fine." The Dalmatian replied.

LAP 182/367 Leader: Marshall

Everyone would come down pit road, and change tires, but the one thing that didn't change was Marshall being the race leader.

LAP 189/367 Leader: Marshall

A few laps went by as they drove under caution, and it was taking longer than expected to fix the lights.

RED FLAG

#11 Radio: Red flag Marshall. Stop the car please.

#5 Radio: Red flag. Red flag. Shut the car off.

Seven minutes later, the lights would be fixed, and the red flag would be lifted and the cars started rolling again.

LAP 192/367 Leader: Marshall

GREEN FLAG Rick: Back under the green flag at Darlington!

Dale Jr.: Arrby's trying to make something work on the inside for second, can't keep the momentum! Ryder takes it back, Everest up to 3rd, Arrby drops to 4th!

LAP 216/367 Leader: Marshall

Rick: Someone's going slow on the back straightaway! The #78 of the Ladybird has stopped, and that'll put us under the caution flag for the third time tonight.

CAUTION

"I'm so done running like shit." Ladybird said, taking off her helmet.

#78 Radio: Yeah it's bad.

LAP 218/367 Leader: Marshall

Everyone would come down pit road, and Marshall would get the race lead, but Rex would go up to 3rd after a great pit stop.

#43 Radio: You know how to win here. Go chase those two down. "I'll do my best." Rex replied.

LAP 222/367 Leader: Marshall

GREEN FLAG

Rick: 9 laps to go, back away we go!

Dale Jr.: Marshall with another great restart and he's away into turn 1

#11 Radio: #5 two back, #43 is trying to put pressure on him.

LAP 225/367 Leader: Marshall

Rick: Trouble in turn 2! Two cars are in the wall! Tuck and Coral have crashed and both cars are still going. Tuck's car has more damage though.

CAUTION

"Tuck just put me in the wall like I wasn't even there!" Coral frustratedly said.

"Dang it. Tell Coral that was all my fault." Tuck said on the radio.

LAP 226/367 Leader: Marshall

None of the frontrunners pitted, but Zuma and a few others pitted to have fresh tires for the final stage.

#11 Radio: So it'll be a one lap dash to the end of the stage. Just get a good restart here.

LAP 230/367 Leader: Marshall

GREEN FLAG

Dale Jr.: It's gonna be a one lap shootout to end stage 2! Marshall with an excellent restart and Rex is challenging Ryder for 2nd!

#5 Radio: Don't let the #43 pass you.

Jeff: Here they go into turn 3! Ryder sends it on the inside and secures second from Rex!

Rick: But Marshall comes off of turn 4! He has swept the first two stages!

LAP 231/367 Leader: Marshall

CAUTION

#11 Radio: That's another stage win.

"Let's finish this race off." Marshall told his team.

LAP 237/367 Leader: Marshall

GREEN FLAG

Rick: Stage three underway in Darlington! And Marshall gets another great restart and he's already ahead of Ryder.

LAP 257/367 Leader: Marshall

Dale Jr.: Oh Ryder hits the wall in turn 4, and Everest goes by easily. He must have gotten loose

"Car's fine. I just got loose." Ryder told his team.

#5 Radio: Just get back in your rhythm.

LAP 260/367 Leader: Marshall J

eff: Now Ryder is losing another spot to his teammate Arrby! There's something not right with that #5 car right now.

#5 Radio: Ryder, I know the car is struggling, but we think it's the tires.

LAP 271/367 Leader: Marshall

Ryder would fall all the way down to 5th, but for the leaders, it was time to come down pit road.

#11 Radio: Pit this time.

#45 Radio: Follow the #11.

Rick: And here comes almost everyone. So far so good, Marshall is away, and Everest as well! Side by side exiting the pit lane and they are still nose to tail!

Dale Jr.: Everest gets the power down and clears Marshall into turn 3!

LAP 274/367 Leader: Alex

Jeff: Marshall's car is not firing off well. I think there might be an issue with his car. He's lost the position to Arrby and he's slow!

"Loose wheel! Loose wheel! It's gonna come off!" Marshall panicked.

#11 Radio: Come down pit road.

Dale Jr.: Marshall brings his car to pit road, and this is absolutely heartbreaking. Probably the dominant car of the night, won't even get a top 10.

#11 Radio: Marshall, we couldn't find anything wrong with the tires.

"I swear I felt it coming off." The Dalmatian replied.

LAP 310/367 Leader: Everest.

Zuma was putting the pressure on Everest for the lead, and he head an idea.

#4 Radio: Pit this time. We're gonna undercut the #45.

Zuma slowed his car down as he came into turn 3, but just ahead, Everest made a late move.

#45 Radio: PIT! PIT!

"What the-" Charger exclaimed as he swerved to the left.

Rick: Charger slides into turn 4, and that'll bring out the caution! Was Zuma on pit road before the caution came out?

CAUTION

Jeff: No he wasn't. He'll have to start from the rear of the field when we go back racing.

"WHAT?! WHY AM I PITTING?!" Zuma furiously shouted.

#4 Radio: We didn't get the word it was closed until after we made the pit stop.

LAP 312/367 Leader: Everest

Everyone who hadn't pitted yet made their pit stop and it would be Ryder taking the lead from Everest, Rory, and Arrby behind.

LAP 317/367 Leader: Ryder

GREEN FLAG

Rick: 51 laps to go, and we're back under the green flag! Jeff: Ryder gets an excellent restart and Everest hangs on to second as she tries to chase him down!

#5 Radio: #45 two back, no pressure.

LAP 319/367 Leader: Ryder

#48 Radio: #99 has a run on you, block.

Dale Jr.: Got a great battle for 8th between Humdinger and Tracker- #48 goes low to block! Now goes high- OH THEY'RE BOTH IN THE WALL! And Dwayne piles in with nowhere to go! What was Humdinger thinking?

#48 Radio: #99 just wrecked us.

"Stupid chihuahua!" The mayor shouted.

#99 Radio: I don't know what's going on with him. "You can't block twice.

"That's just a lack of common sense." Tracker said as he drove his car to the garage.

#21 Radio: Are you okay Dwayne? "Yeah I'm okay." Dwayne replied.

LAP 328/367 Leader: Ryder

GREEN FLAG

Rick: 40 more great laps around Darlington here tonight!

LAP 331/367 Leader: Ryder

Dale Jr.: We got a crash on the front stretch! Al is in the inside wall! Marshall is also around! And Hubcap piledrives the rear of the #11! Skye is also involved! Three playoff drivers involved in a wreck late in this race!

CAUTION

#38 Radio: #8 just turned us.

"I don't know why Rocky squeezed me in between the #3." Al said.

#34 Radio: #11 couldn't save the car in front of us.

"UGHHHHHHHHH!" Hubcap angrily groaned.

"I've got damage." Marshall said.

"Yep. Bad to worse." Skye sighed.

LAP 337/367 Leader: Ryder

GREEN FLAG

Rick: 31 laps to go, back under the green flag at Darlington, and once again Ryder secures the lead into turn 1!

#5 Radio: Do not worry about that #45. You are better than her

LAP 366/367 Leader: Ryder

Everest would try her best to close the gap, but the gap stayed around half a second the entire run.

Jeff: When Marshall lost the lead of the race, it was wide open for everyone, and Ryder has taken advantage!

Rick: Ryder will see the white flag! One lap to go presented by Credit One Bank!

LAP 367/367 Leader: Ryder

WHITE FLAG

Dale Jr.: Everest is still six tenths behind. She needs something to happen here!

#5 Radio: Two more corners. Bring it home.

Rick: OUT OF TURN 4, RYDER IS GONNA WIN AT DARLINGTON AND IS MOVING ON TO THE ROUND OF 12!

#5 Radio: YES RYDER!

"WHOO! Southern 500 boys! Let's go!" Ryder exclaimed.

"Sorry guys. I gave it everything." Everest told her team.

#45 Radio: Well done Everest. You gained massive points today. That's what we needed to do. Ryder did his burnout, his pit crew cheering in the background. He took off his helmet and breathed a sigh of relief.

Reporter: Ryder gets his 3rd win, and it's the Southern 500. Ryder, how challenging was it to get the job done tonight?

"To be honest, I wasn't sure that we were better than the #11. He owned the field, it sucks to see him lose because of something he couldn't control, but this #5 car was a rocket ship tonight, and now it's on to the next round." Ryder replied.
