AN: If anyone's interested I'll show you some ilustrations I have been working on regarding the fanfiction.
Alright to answer a few things to my reviewers,
Yes, unfortunately Tazita so sheltered she hasn't learned to be afraid and to watch out for Old Scratch.
The idea is for her to meet new people, particularly the old Spanish phrase 'Faces we see, hearts we do not'
Yeah, since you mentioned it, someone did a comparison on a meme regarding Henchmen trying to cheerup the Big D reference to Robin hood scene. See for yourself: xoverhero/art/Devil-Scene-Reminds-Me-of-Prince-John-Scene-926398107
Since this is a fanfic, let's just say it takes the AU route, the ep Roll the dice doesn't happen yet. But sadly, yes Tazita will meet the Devil's # 1.
Precisely, it's all Tazita can take with her Aunt's antics but you'll soon learn why.
Plus here's where the plot finally begins and her adventures in the Inkwell isles with our favorite cups.
Ch 3: Good little girls, never get to see the world
Since the small family lived in the woods, you are wondering if there had been visitors. The issue was no one visited without Ruer's permission.
Or they had to get past her.
There had been more than one mortifying or hilarious incident, involving uninvited visitors.
One occurred when Tazita heard some jingle, she looked out to see a truck. It was an ice-cream truck. Like some kids she would've loved to go and ask for one.
Except Aunt Ruer burst out of the house screaming at the ice cream, lots of words in Spanish which sounded like obscenities. And accused him of scheming to lure kids like we hear in some scary news.
Far from the case the Ice cream man was just an irritating solicitor who was already intimidated by the angry lady teapot.
Or the one-time Tazita was busy reading when she heard some funny squeaking and scratching sound.
Next thing she knew she heard some swearing in German coming from the living room. She stepped out of her room and peeked to see her aunt brandishing a broom.
Apparently, she had been beating a rat dressed in overalls and a small helmet.
"I Hate Rats!" She shouted as she struck again as she whacked the rat like a baseball, which he bounces off a chair before running out the door.
On the upside they wouldn't have to worry about vermin especially if it happened to be Werner.
The downside was, what if her new friends Cuphead n Mugman decided to visit? Would Aunt Ruer scream, scare them off too?
As time went by, Tazita grew frustrated by her confinement, despite promising not to leave the cottage, she began to dream of freedom and adventure.
Independence for young people is about trying new things, taking on more responsibility, making decisions by themselves, and working out who they are and what they want to be.
Some kids rebel to break free from their caretaker's control or be more secretive and distant to hide certain things from them.
Which is precisely Tazita is doing. She longed to step out again and explore more of the city.
Sure, it was fun while it lasted.
She had luck on her side when she earned a free ticket along with a group of people to the radio game show Roll the Dice. To us, it would look suspicious that someone had been handing out free tickets to many for the popular gameshow. And every right to be so, for it was an ulterior motive to lead them to the show.
You will soon learn why, for now, we are focusing on Tazita's recent misadventure when she snuck out a second time.
The station which held the gameshow was located within the building called W.I.N.K.
Luckily for her nobody asked her age or for some ID when she entered the building, she joined many others in the audience, to watch face to face, the popular gameshow.
She sat in one of the purple seats. Soon the band which consisted of cards began playing as a voice announced overhead.
"Featuring your master of ceremonies King…Dice!"
A music band consisting of cards began to play a tune, as the spotlight shinnied on the right side of the stage.
Out dancing Cab Calloway's signature dance was a man dressed in purple tailcoat, dark purple pants but had a dice for a head. The side number one showed a face, eyes, eyebrows, a thin black mustache, mouth and the single purple dot served as his nose.
He gave a little dance while singing as he spun around and posed while the audience clapped and cheered.
This was the famous King Dice everyone admired, the host of the gameshow Roll the dice.
"Alright let's jump right in" Announced King Dice in the microphone, "who will be the first lucky contestant to roll the dice?"
Everyone in town listened to the radio. At the quilt shop, Aunt Ruer and her friends listen to the radio. But the particular show they were listening to happened to be Roll the dice.
Aunt Ruer for some odd reason wasn't amused, there was something about that game show and especially the host rubbed her the wrong way.
"Oh, must you listen to that frivolous show" she griped.
"It's not the show, we're interested in. That King Dice is a heart throb…" explained a sewing machine lady.
"He sings like a dream," blushed an apple woman.
"And he's single too" laughed one of the middle-aged ladies.
Aunt Ruer rolled her eyes, "Ugh. All I see is a slippery snake salesman,"
The Ladies gasp, appalled by this heresy.
"He is the dreamboat of entertainment!"
Back at the game show, the spotlight moved while the audience was excited watching with anticipation. For once the spotlight shined on someone in the audience they are selected as a contestant for the show. "Will… it… be…you!"
The spotlight shined on the cup girl. She looked genuinely surprised.
"It's your lucky day Miss. Get on up here and roll the dice."
She climbs off the seat and climbs the stairs on the stage.
"Welcome to the show young lady," greeted King Dice as holds the microphone to her to speak into.
Tazita smiled and said politely, "I'm very pleased to be here. I've never been on a show before."
The radio continued to play the station of the game show as the ladies listened in.
"Hey isn't that your niece Ruer?" inquired one of the middle-aged ladies.
Aunt Ruer shook her head, "Of course not. She's staying put doing her chores at home."
Back the gameshow, the cup girl seemed to be enjoying herself. Afterall it's not every day she got be on a famous radio show near a celebrity.
"Now tell us about yourself." Said King Dice.
"My name is Tazita. I'm so glad, I left my cottage to explore town and I want to see more of the world outside my front yard."
The ladies gasp as they begin gossiping. Ruer is horrified and marches out.
"Where are you going?" asked one of her lady friends
"To get my niece out of there!" she screeched while stomping out in direction of the radio station.
The audience clapped politely and enthusiastic for the young cup girl.
"Now young lady, all you have to do is make it to three rounds then you get to enter the mystery prize room."
He points to a section on the stage which showed flashing lights with question marks.
Then turns to the audience and signals the band as he spoke: "First up, Name… that… tune."
Holding a baton, he conducts the band to play an instrumental song.
Tazita thinks for a moment before answering "Love is a song!"
"Correct!"
The audience cheered as they clapped.
"Now onto the Trivial round!" he said then makes a question. "What tool is used to tighten bolts?"
He holds out the microphone for Tazita to speak into.
"Torque wrench."
"Correct!"
The audience cheered louder.
A diamond card pushes a stand which held two oversized dice as King Dice spoke.
"Now for the final game, all you got to do is roll the dice, roll any number and you go in the mystery prize room."
Tazita stared, "I'm flattered but shouldn't it be something a little more challenging?"
"Probably…" shrugged King Dice before whispering to her, "just roll the dice."
But she never had a chance to even touch the dice to roll into a number when the doors slammed open. And a familiar voice screamed at her.
"TAZITA! Don't you dare touch those dice!"
"Aunt Ruer?!" she exclaimed in surprise
An angry aunt Ruer began stomping on the stage while the audience, the band and King Dice stared as she scolded her niece, "You are not supposed be on stage."
"Uh ma'am you're not supposed disrupt the show" reprimanded King Dice
She turned and shook her fist at the host. "You stay out of this - I know your tricks, you flimflammer. Unless you want a taste of my chancla!"
She turned to Tazita. "What did he say to you?"
"I was just going to roll the dice to earn my way to the mystery room." Explained Tazita
"And leading to who knows what? Absolutely not!" She turns her angry glaze at the show host. "Shame on you. My niece is a dulce Corazón. She wants no part of your scam."
King Dice glared at her accusation, "Now you see here Madame-"
"No! You see here!" she yelled in the hosts face. She was very intimidating enough to make anyone back off. "You keep away from her."
She turns to the cup girl, "You know better than to be here in this place! You will come home. Now."
She grabs her niece by the hand as she drags her off stage, the girl starts to protest. "You are embarrassing me!"
"You should be for sneaking out."
The audience was disappointed and annoyed that they booed at Aunt Ruer as she dragged Tazita out of the radio show. "Aww! Boo! Boo! Let the kid have a little fun! Let her play!"
While some of the locals felt sympathy for the girl, others just laughed at her misery and embarrassment.
Others were just as upset at the display on the radio show like the audience was, the minute, the aunt steps a foot in town she will be treated like a social pariah, booed by everyone. They found it unfair too.
Even in the little house, the small family over heard the humiliating occurrence that happened on the radio show.
"Oh, come on!" griped Elder Kettle, "Now that's going too far. First day on the show only to be publicly humiliated by a frumpy old bat, who won't stop smothering."
He may be tough on his grandchildren when it comes to chores but even, he knew being too overprotective with a child is a bad parenting. Sooner or later, they to learn to leave the nest.
Both Cuphead and Mugman looked at each other awkwardly after overhearing the upsetting event.
"And I thought we had problems," said Mugman
"Boy, do I feel sorry for her," added Cuphead "Glad that's not us."
The boys nodded in agreement.
Things were just getting tense when both aunt and niece got back to the cottage in the woods.
"I was worried sick! How many times have I told you: don't leave the cottage unsupervised!" scolded Aunt Ruer
Tazita glared at her Aunt Ruer, "Why do you always worry so much?! Nothing's going to happen to me."
"I cannot take this constant worrying. My job is to keep you safe, and there's only one way to do that: You'll start school next year or two n continue homeschooling."
"What? But I was looking forward to going! I was hoping to play with the neighborhood children."
"My decision is final and I'm doing this for you own good."
She starts crying, "No, you're not! You just won't let me have any fun!"
The sad girl ran to her room crying. Out there, she thought, she can start her independence. Somewhere she can live openly. Tired of being treated like a baby. Any place would be better than here.
When the home has no peace, freedom and love, young ones will seek these elements outside the home. So it was that time when she decided to run away.
If only she knew, the truth that her aunt was right to be concerned and wary. As it turns out, King Dice was the devil's right-hand man. And the gameshow was just a disguise to bring victims to rob them of their soul.
All they had to do was to 'win' which then leads them to a room promising rewards, only to be locked in with a furnace like vacuum that sucks out the souls. Then eject their empty bodies into an alley.
With the incident involving Tazita dragged out by her Aunt Ruer earlier, it didn't count as a win or a loss, it was more of a disqualification by default. Only this didn't sit well with the Devil, who was very upset with the results. It didn't help that henchman, who was a big fan of Roll the dice heard the whole thing and had told his superior about what had occurred.
Thus, summoned King Dice who was nervous when he stepped into the elevator to the Inkwell hell and was now yelling at Dice.
"WHAT was that?! You let that one get away!" He shouted in his face.
"Look! Look I can explain…" Dice begged, very afraid.
"Silence!" He shouted while elevating him in the air with the magic from his pitchfork.
"It wasn't my fault! I didn't anticipate that this Tazita girl's aunt will come bursting in-!"
"Excuses! You know they can't just walk away! It is impossible to lose this-" He pauses realizing what his goon just mentioned. "What did you say? What was that name again?"
"Tazita…" replied King Dice, while still in the air.
"Hmm…" The devil thought with a smirk as he lowers him back to the ground.
King Dice breathes out in relief as he looks up. He was almost in trouble.
"Just what does this girl look like?" inquired The Devil calmly.
King Dice then explained a brief description on her appearance. "Short, silver cup girl, blue eyed, with a big pink ribbon, wears a pink ballet skirt and shoes. She mentioned, she lived in a cottage in the woods."
At hearing this, The Devil smiled wickedly, "Oh…this makes things easier."
"Gee, what a surprise boss." said Henchman, who was equally flabbergasted and delighted, "He found the promised soul; you were looking for all those years and with the accurate location where she lives."
At hearing this statement Dice composes himself while smiling smugly. "Oh! Uh Yeah, I did."
"Fortunately, we have time to make up for that inconvenience." The Devil said in delight.
Now that he knew, what the promised soul looked like and where she lives, things will be easier. And perfect reason to get Stickler off his back.
"No problem," Dice spoke, "I'll just make a house call. And give her a chance for a second chance and I'll deliver her soul to you."
This made the Devil smile in delight; the promised soul will be easy to trick.
"Excellent." The Devil smiled at the plan, "Oh and Number 1?
"Yes?" King Dice asked
"Don't disappoint me again…" The Devil spoke in a threatening tone.
To be continued...
