April 14th, 2023 - A/N
I'm back! I'm trying to write chapters in advance now. I have a few written a few chapters ahead so I am hoping to be able to upload every two weeks, but again I don't want to get ahead of myself.
Now for the personal update, I have officially finished my first year of university, I'm on the job hunt for a summer job, and I have officially applied to be a volunteer at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Nothing super exciting but I will have more time on my hands hopefully since school is out until August.
Thank you to my Beta Luke, our marvel expert for editing this chapter. Luke who is the Suzie to my Midge Maizel (Watching the new season as I'm typing this), the Mario to my Luigi (We saw the movie yesterday), and the Diana Berry to my Anne Shirley-Cuthbert. (Yes, I will keep adding more every week because Luke HATES it and also I'm running out of these shows/references so leave some in the comments for me). And a massive shoutout to my amazing ghostwriter ElianaIsabella who never fails to edit these chapters for me. I couldn't have gotten this chapter out to you guys without her. *insert clapping emoji*
Now for questions!
crity2re: I am so sorry about the tense issue, i'll be sure to keep an eye out for it from now on. I can't wait to see your reaction to this chapter then, it's shorter than future chapters but I hope you like it all the same. And I have to say as much as I appreciate your indepth analysis of the spiderman but I still can't help but feel offended at the support for Luke lol. But because you have been a follower of this story since the beginning I forgive you for the lapse in judgement in supporting Luke.
CallaRose4ever: Sorry for leaving you hanging for so long, I would say it will never happen again but we all know my track record. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter though, I hope you enjoy this one as well.
W. L. O'Fallon: Well there is only two of us, so we picked only two spidermen. Both Luke and I have seen all the spider-man movies more times then I could count. Although I will point out that the second Tobey Maguire Spiderman came out the year Luke and I were born so…however I am glad you've been enjoying the story.
As always here is a list of the Marvel shows I have not watched or finished yet so please do not spoil them in the comments, Loki, What If?, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantum Mania, Agents of SHIELD, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Werewolf by Night. It isn't that I don't want to watch them, I just haven't had time.
Also that Marvels trailer? I mean as someone who hates Captain Marvel even I'm intrigued by this story. But it's not just marvel that has had some great trailers coming out this summer is going to have some great movies, Barbie, Little Mermaid, Guardians 3, Are You There God? It's Me Margaret, and Haunted Mansion. It's going to be a summer full of great movies and I will be giving every single one of them all of my money.
Also we've reached over 100,000 words! Ahhh I can't believe i've even type let alone come up with 100,000 words. Thank you all for reading that many words and staying here with me. Here's to anyother 100,000!
And once again, I own nothing but the storyline. If I owned Marvel or Harry Potter I would've starred in the films and been rich, and directed the films, oh and married Sebastian Stan or Tom Hiddleston, or RDJ, or well, really just any of them.
June 24th, 2012 New York City, New York (6:38 PM)
Tony's heart was broken when he felt his thrusters give out. He couldn't help her.
"Tony, what's happening?" As she heard the thrusters give out.
"Fuck, I can't fly anymore. You're going to have to push it up. " Tony said as they began to give out, falling towards the ground. He could see Thor flying up to catch him. He hated this. She should not be doing this right now. He made a mental note to kill Fury later. He spoke to her through the comms as Thor caught him."You've got this keep going kiddo. Just push it in and get the hell out of there."
He thanked god that he made a suit for her, cause it was really helping her right now.
"Oh my god I need to join a gym," He heard his daughter grunt out, 15 seconds. 'Come on kiddo' he thought to himself. He watched as she continued to struggle to keep pushing until she was just below the portal. 8 seconds, "I'm going to push it in, close the portal once it's in."
"You've got it," Nat replied.
That's when he saw it, Hermione couldn't push it. She just didn't have the strength anymore. She kept pushing the missile until he watched as his daughter entered the portal.
"No!" He yelled, his voice cracking and raw as his daughter disappeared into the unknown.
"Nat you can't close that portal," Bucky begged, never taking his eyes out of the sky. "Please."
"NOW!" He heard her crackling voice as her comms went dead. The portal began to close.
"Romanoff don't you dare close that portal," Tony warned, but his threats were all for not. The portal was closing, and yet no sign of Hermione. He felt his chest tightening, like he couldn't breathe. He guessed Thor had brought him to Barton, Roger, and Barnes because he felt Rogers and Barnes holding him back when he tried to fly with his broken repulsors.
Tears brimmed in his eyes. His knees buckled as Roger and Barnes caught him. He had just gotten her, and after 16 years of not knowing about her, he finally had his daughter back. And now she was gone. Because of him, because he failed her. His technology failed her. He was hyperventilating with the heartbreak of losing his child. He couldn't think, couldn't speak, he could barely hear Roger when he started saying,
"Tony, Tony, you have to calm down, look. Look at the portal. She's coming out." Rogers reassured the billionaire's ear. Tony looked up, and sure enough, she had come out of the portal and was free-falling mid-air. "Thor's got her,"
He watched as Thor approached the falling girl to catch her, only to be knocked back by an invisible force, unable to catch her. Without thinking, he stripped himself of his suit and began to run. He didn't care how far away she was, he needed to see she was ok. He didn't even notice that thousands of the alien soldiers fell to the ground, dead.
At some point the Hulk must've noticed his panic because he grabbed Tony, throwing him on his back, and jumped from building to building to bring Tony to Hermione. His daughter came into view, laying in a crater in the ground created by the impact of her hitting the ground.
Barnes, Steve, and Thor were not far behind him, using Thor's hammer to bring them to the crash site.
Running ahead Thor rips the mask of the helmet off of her face. Hermione was pale,
Very pale.
Completely pale.
Tony ran to be by her side, searching her face for any signs of life.
"Is she breathing?" Bucky asked, hovering over the girl with Tony and Steve. His voice was full of pain…she had to be okay. She just had to be. Steve tried to hear a pulse through her chest armor, unable to hear anything because of the metal.
"Elphaba, Galinda, Sabrina…Hermione!?" He asked, the Hulk grabbed him by the shoulder. The green monster looked the young witch in the face before letting out the loudest roar they'd ever heard.
Hermione's eyes opened wide and gasped at the sudden loud noise. Tony breathed the biggest sign of relief anyone had ever heard, tears falling from his eyes.
"What the hell?" she asked breathlessly. She looked around confused to see everyone surrounding her, "What the hell just happened?"
Tony could only sit her up and pull her into so tight of a hug Hermione could've sworn that he was bending the metal. She hugged him back. Hermione looked at the men around her and said,
"Please tell me nobody kissed me." She asked, still slightly in shock.
"Really doll, not even me?" Bucky asked the witch with a relieved smile.
"Yes, actually I would prefer to not be a total damsel in distress." She responded as strongly as she could without sounding weak. "Did I do it?"
"We won," Steve responded simply, giving the girl a look of grateful disbelief. "Thanks to you."
"Oh thank Merlin." She sighed in relief. Then sarcastically said, "Alright! Yay! Hurrary good job everyone! Let's give ourselves a pat on the back."
Loki ran to the group along with Natasha, looking at Tony and hugging her to him.
"Hermes! Is she alright?"
"She's fine uncle," Hermione replied, waving to him because Tony wouldn't let her go, and therefore she couldn't turn around. "Tony, you have to let me go."
Reluctantly he let her go, helping her to her feet slowly, taking a moment to get her footing. Tony looked at her with the happiest expression she'd ever seen, before pulling her into his arms once again.
"God, I'm so proud." He whispered, before pulling away again. Taking her face in his hands, "You're also grounded until you're 30 for going after that missile."
"Do you even know how to ground a kid?" Hermione asked him, he was new to this whole 'dad' thing. She doubted that he'd even know how to punish her at this point.
"By Odin, you are foolish, little witchling." Loki told his niece, "And yet you still saved me…us."
She gave her uncle a quick hug, wincing at a pain in her ribs, assuming one or two were most likely broken. Loki put his arm around his niece's shoulder lovingly, Hermione looked around at the group of banged-up heroes and simply said,
"Have any of you tried Shawarma?" The group looked at her half in humor and half in confusion at the question. "There's a shawarma joint about 2 blocks that way. I don't even know what it is but I wanna try it. I am starving. Flying to space kinda does that to you."
"We're not finished yet, unfortunately," Thor said looking at her uncle with a disheartened look on his face. "I'm afraid there's much to discuss regarding my brother."
"Okay, but Shawarma after then…right?" Hermione asked expectantly, everyone laughed at the girl's insistence on food.
"You and your stomach, you're beginning to sound like that school friend of yours you're always telling me about…Ron is it?" Her uncle asked her. Tony looked at Thor asking,
"Wanna talk at the tower? I'm not sure how much of it is left but it's better than an open street." The billionaire suggested.
"That is agreeable." The blonde god agreed.
"I'm afraid my magic is too drained from protecting me from the blast to apparate us all there so we'll have to walk," Hermione informed the group.
"Here press the hexagon on your chest plate, it'll retract the suit into a briefcase so you don't have to walk with all that weight," Tony suggested to his daughter. As he told her, her suit retracted and became a small periwinkle briefcase. Bucky came and picked it up for her, a kind smile on his face as the Hulk stood massively in front of the small witch,
"Hulk carry tiny witch." The Hulk offers indicting to the witch that he would give her a piggyback to the tower. She hopped on as her arms loosely grasped his shoulders. They began walking alongside Bucky, Barton, and Natasha. Loki, Tony, and Steve could hear Hermione laugh at something Bucky said.
"I'm sorry, what is going on there?" Loki asked Tony, indicating to Bucky and Hermione, clearly displaying his disdain for whatever was going on.
"Don't ask me, I'm just as confused by it." Tony told the god, "Rogers?"
"Normally if it was the 40s I'd say this was normal for Bucky. But seriously I have no idea." Steve replied.
"How old is he?" Loki asked the star-spangled man, the question shocking Tony, he'd never even thought of asking about the age difference between his daughter and the super soldier.
"Buck? He and I are 21. Well, we were back in 43'" Steve explained to the two men. "We look older than we are…cause of the serum and through everything we've been through it looks like we're a hell of a lot older."
Tony and Loki sighed in relief at Steve's words.
"How olds Hermione?" Steve asked the billionaire and god.
"16," Tony replied simply before remembering, "Actually she's 17. At her school they allowed her to use a device that would turn back time so she could take more classes."
Steve nodded at the billionaire's words. The group began the slow and painful walk to Stark Tower…or what was left of it.
June 24th, 2012 Stark Tower, New York City (6:38 PM)
After Thor had flown them all to the top of the tower since the elevator was not working, the group settled in a very destroyed living room.
"So I'm sorry, what is the problem with my uncle? He is freed from the curse. There should be no issue." Hermione asked Thor, then turned to the group, "Can we not just tell the world the truth? That he wasn't in his own mind and that we are looking for the man who is responsible, I understand he did some terrible things but it wasn't his fault-"
"It is not that simple unfortunately," Natasha informed the girl, understanding the girl had a positive wide-eyed look at the world but that is not going to work in this case.
"My father is still in want of Loki, regardless of whether or not he is guilty," Thor told the girl.
"No! I was in Loki's mind, I saw what Odin did to him, to both of you. I won't let you take him back to that monster!" She told Thor, stepping up to him and looking up at the god towering over her.
"Have a care with your words witchling, that is still Odin the Allfather you are talking about-" Thor started in on the girl.
"But he helped us close the portal-" Hermione started again, defending her uncle as he didn't say a word in his own defense.
"Hermione, the world is not just going to take the explanation that Loki was not in his right mind. They will want blood until we can settle them into the idea that he is reformed." Barton explained to the young girl.
"So what? We just banish him to Asgard, back to Odin for a punishment he does not deserve? How is that fair?" She asked them, defeat growing in her eyes. She looked to her uncle trying to get him to defend himself.
"They are right Hermione," Loki told her, walking to his niece.
"What?" She asked surprised.
"Whether or not I was in my right mind, you've seen it, I've done terrible things. I need to plead my case to the Allfather and the world needs to get cleaned up from my mess before I can-" Loki tried to explain.
"No, No NO!" Hermione screamed covering her ears, hysterically crying. Unable to breathe properly. "I-I can't even listen to this."
Hermione walked up to the terrace, looking to the patio on the very top of the tower, she'd seen it earlier when flying with the nuke. She pulls out her wand, apparating to the top of the tower.
"Hermione-" Loki shouted, about to go after her, Tony grabbed his shoulder.
"It's okay. Let her go, you'll say goodbye before you go. We'll find her in a minute." Tony told the trickster. "It's all just catching up with her. She only buried her parents yesterday. She had the battle to fixate on but now that that's gone and you're leaving she just-she's breaking down."
"Let's figure out a plan for Loki and then we'll go find her yea?" Steve asked the group. The sooner they planned without interruption the sooner they could all be seen by the medics and do what Hermione wanted most, eat.
The group began planning but Bucky found himself unable to focus, only wanting to comfort the crying witch.
Hermione apparated to the top of Stark Tower and immediately collapsed, her knees finally giving out. Her breaths came in short bursts as she desperately tried to control herself. Her chest felt tight, as if a snake had slithered itself around her body and was slowly crushing the air out of her. She couldn't think, or see, or breathe. All she could think about was him leaving and her parents and…She hugged her arms to herself, placing her head between her knees, trying to steady her breath. But the more she thought about it, her breathing, Tony, Uncle Loki, the more her mind went racing.
She couldn't remember a time when she'd felt like this, well except for that one time back when she was 6 or so,
Flashback: December 26th, 2001 London, England (11:08 AM)
"No, Uncle Tom don't go." A young Hermione Granger cried, running out of her front door and catching up to her uncle who was heading to his taxi and clinging onto his leg. Not wanting to let him go. Her uncle smiled down at the young girl before picking up the 6-year-old in his arms.
She began sobbing into his shoulder. Her uncle thought this adorable, until he heard her breathing falter. He pulled her back from his shoulder, only to see his niece struggling to breathe in between her sobs.
"Hey, hey, hey it's okay, breathe, Hermes. In and out. Watch me." Loki coached his niece. She was 6 and having a panic attack. What the hell was happening? He grabbed her small hand in his and placed it on his heart, so she could feel the rhythm of his heartbeat. He'd seen his mother use this technique with a villager many decades ago. He could only hope it would work with his niece. "Feel my heart Hermione, breathe following it."
He watched as his niece closed her eyes focusing on her breathing and his words, slowly slowing down her breathing to a normal pace. Before opening her eyes.
"Now what was all that panic about little one?" Loki asked, wiping her tears from her face. Hermione's lip began to tremble once more. "Hey, hey now none of that. Why are you sad? I'll be back soon."
"You said you would be back for Halloween on my birthday. And you didn't. And at Christmas, you said you would be back in time for Easter and you weren't. So how do I know you'll come back?" Hermione asked her uncle with wide tear-filled eyes. Loki sighed at her reasoning. He meant to be back for Easter but Odin sent him on a mission just as he was about the sneak away. Over Halloween, Thor needed his help in a battle. He understood his niece's disappointment.
"I'm sorry Hermione. I shouldn't have promised to be there when I really can't promise I'll be there." Loki explained. This was a big problem for a 6-year-old to wrap their head around. But Hermione had always been wise beyond her years. "My job takes a lot of time and it's really hard to get away to come and visit. Believe me Hermione I would rather be here with you than at work, but I have an obligation to be there."
"Can't you just quit? Can't you just stay here with mummy and daddy and me?" Hermione asked her uncle through a pout.
"It's not the kind of job I can just quit, little one," Loki told his niece simply. "How about this? I won't promise I'll visit anymore. Then I won't have broken my promise."
"But you'll still visit? As much as you can?" Hermione asked her uncle. Worried his lack of promises means that he won't visit as much. Loki's expression softened at her worry and decided to change his offer.
"I promise I will try my best to visit as much as possible." Loki offered to his darling niece. Her eyes lit up at the offer, taking the better deal.
"You promise?" Hermione asked her uncle.
"I promise," Loki swore to his niece genuinely. As much as he wished he could stay with his niece forever but he'd been away far too long. Any longer and people would start asking questions. "I have to go now but I'll be back as soon as I can."
"I love you, Uncle Tom," Hermione said to her uncle, pulling him into a tight hug.
"I love you too little one," Loki told her, putting her down on the ground. "Now run back inside, something tells me your mother has your favorite for lunch."
"Pasta? Yay!" Hermione began running inside. "Bye Uncle Tom! Have a safe trip!"
Hermione remembered her uncle's promise. He would always try to come back to her. This eased her stress. She would miss him and hell she needed him but he would always come back. He's never broken that promise. The promise that he would always try and come back.
It hurt to admit but this was the right thing to do. And maybe Odin will have mercy and allow Loki to stay on earth with her. With a deep calming breath, she stood up and headed back to the living room.
June 24th, 2012 Stark Tower, New York City (7:27 PM)
Hermione had tried to clean herself up as best she could but her eyes were still bloodshot with tears. The group looked at her warily.
"My apologies for my outburst earlier-" Hermione began apologizing but was quickly interrupted by Natasha.
"Don't you dare apologize," Natasha warned, actually giving the girl a threatening look. "We get it."
"Here Hermione come, sit, we have a plan." Loki gestured to a small part of Tony's living room couch that survived the battle where he was sitting. Tony joined them, sitting on the other side of the young girl. "I am going back to Asgard." He informed her, and she went to speak but he quickly stopped her.
"No listen," He asked her gently, Hermione slouched into the couch and listened. "It is not forever. There are things that need to be dealt with on the Asgardian end. I am hoping to prove myself once again to the Allfather. Regardless of how wrong he was in the past, he is still who decides whether I can be a free man. There is also the question of this curse. Thor and I need to figure out who placed it and why, that is something that you cannot be involved in. It is too dangerous. I promise you that one day I will return and split my life between here and Asgard, however, it will take time. I will visit this summer before you go back to school in September if the Allfather allows it. I understand this decision may upset you, however, it is the safest option for you and for me."
Hermione didn't say much, her face remained neutral at his words and only asked, "How long?"
"Thor and I will leave in the morning," The uncle told his niece reluctantly, it was too soon. Far too soon but the sooner he was able to return to Asgard, the sooner he may be able to return to Midgard.
"You promise you'll do your damnedest to visit?" She asked, hoping he would remember the promise he made so long ago. He smiled in recognition at the promise he had made her so long ago.
"I promise I will try my hardest." He couldn't promise her, she knew that but hearing that he would try gave her the smallest glimmer of hope. She remained quiet for a while before Tony spoke,
"You alright kiddo?" The billionaire asked his daughter reluctantly, he watched as she wiped a tear from her eyes before it could fall.
"No, but I will be." She told them standing up, she looked at Bucky indicating that it was time to tell them about Coulson. She stood beside the silver-armed soldier, looking at the group nervously. "Now before Shawarma, Bucky and I here have something to tell you."
"Now please don't blame Bucky, I practically forced him to go along with this…" Hermione began to explain slowly, trying to ease everyone into it.
"Whatever it is, it's ok kiddo." Tony reassured, then joked, "It's not like it could be worse than not telling me about a nuke heading for the city."
"Well…" She began.
"Granger, what did you do?" Clint asked her cautiously, beginning to immediately think the worst.
"Coulson isn't dead, I was able to heal him but to motivate you all I pretended he was dead and apparated him to the Weasley's where he is currently recovering from his injuries and other than Molly overfeeding him he should be completely fine." Hermione spat out so fast she had to gasp for air after saying it.
"What?!" They all shouted in disbelief.
"Let me get this straight, Phil Coulson isn't dead?" Nat asked the girl questioningly.
"No," Hermione responded, elongating the word nervously.
"Then whose body did the agents take away?" Clint asked, still in shock by the revelation that Coulson was in fact, not dead.
"Coulson said the Agent's name was Crovek?" Hermione said, looking to Bucky for confirmation, to which he nodded. "Coulson suggested it because he didn't have a family, and he would've wanted to contribute to the cause. I used a potion to turn his body in Coulson's using a strand of Coulson's hair."
"And I'm sorry, why would you do this?" Tony asked his daughter, slightly angry but more confused as to why she would've gone to such extreme lengths to fake Coulson's death.
"I had to pull a Nick Fury," She said simply, "Everyone was just willing to give up and I just figured you all need a little…emotional push to bring you together. I thought it was for the greater good, and it kinda was..?"
"Did Fury know about this, the whole trading card speech and stuff, was he in on it?" Clint asked the witch, clearly distrusting.
"No, actually he wasn't. I don't know where he pulled that speech from or even the idea but he still has no idea that it was all a ruse." Hermione answered honestly. At their silence, she began to apologize profusely. "I'm so sorry, it was not my intention to deceive you but look at what could've happened if we all had given up and we would've only hated ourselves if we didn't do anything-"
"She's right." Steve agreed. This shocked Hermione, this was the last thing she expected him to do. "Without Coulson's 'death,' we never would've come together. She did the right thing. Yes, it was slightly misguided but it had the desired result."
The group sat in this, thinking to themselves, thinking about Steve's words.
"Can you go get him?" Nat asked her, Hermione nodded the witch looked to Tony, pointing at the glass expensive-looking fireplace.
"Mind if I break this? I need to step into the fireplace in order to floo." Hermione asked her father. Tony looked around at the already destroyed tower and said,
"Yeah go ahead," With a shrug. Hermione took her elbow and bashed it into the glass covering of the electric fireplace, shattering it completely. She summoned a jar of Floo powder that was within the jet from Britain into her hand. The young witch looked to Bucky asking,
"You coming?"
Bucky seemed startled by the request but walked over to the witch. She turned to the group and asked, "Anyone else?"
"Where are you going?" Clint asked, confused as to where the witch was referring to.
"The house of a school friend. In the wizarding world." Hermione answered simply.
"Hell yeah, Nat I don't give a shit what you say, you're coming with," Clint said, dragging the redhead to the fireplace.
"Clint-" Nat started to protest.
"It's wizards Natasha, WIZARDS." The agent said excitedly, before bringing back his brooding demeanor. "You're going."
Hermione looked to Loki and Thor both agreed, "Best not." Her uncle said.
"I'm coming," Tony informed the young witch, who then looked at The Hulk and asked,
"You wanna come with us, big guy?" The green monster nodded.
"Then you're going to have to bring back Bruce. You won't fit through the floo system." Hermione informed the Hulk, who pouted at the notion of bringing back the doctor. "Now enough of that, you'll be back soon enough. Now let him come back out."
The Hulk rolled his eyes, taking a deep breath, breathing out to release Bruce who was completely naked. Hermione quickly summoned clothes in front of him. Turning around, allowing him the privacy to change.
"You remember all that?" Hermione asked him once he was clothed.
"Yeah, how did I-" Bruce asked, confused, normally he totally forgot what happened during his transformations.
"You choose to change this time around Dr. Banner. I believe your inner psyche is accepting the Hulk. Allowing you access to the memories of the big guy as well." Hermione briefly explained, "You coming?"
"Sure," Banner said excitedly to see this new world.
"Steve?" Hermione asked curiously.
"Why not?" The soldier said with a shrug.
Hermione looked to her uncle and Thor, "You stay here yeah, we shouldn't be long. No, taking off, promise?"
"I promise, now go, if Molly is anything like you've told me she's likely force-feeding Coulson as we speak," Loki promised the young girl, then looked at Tony. "If it's all the same to you. I'll have that drink now."
"Help yourself." The billionaire told him.
"So here is how this is going to work. You will each take a handful of powder, say the location you want to go to VERY CLEARLY. No mumbling. Then through the powder onto the ground below you. Close your eyes or you'll see space and time and drive yourself insane. I'll go first to demonstrate. Any questions?" The young witch explained quickly, the group who were used to quick and fast orders all nodded in understanding, "Now while I do this, it'll look like I've been burned to ash. I promise it doesn't hurt."
Hermione stepped into the fireplace and shouted, "THE BURROW." Before throwing the powder on the ground, being engulfed in flames before disappearing.
"I'm next!" Clint shouted, calling dibs and running into the fireplace excitedly, "THE BURRO-"
June 25th, 2012 The Burrow (12:23 AM)
"Hermione!" She heard as she came through the floo, she looked around making sure Coulson wasn't around to hear this.
"Before they arrive, I have the Avengers coming through here. Do not mention the Battle in the Department of Mysteries, do not mention Voldemort, or the impending war. Actually, just mention nothing about the misfortune we've gotten into over the years. Got it?" Hermione spat out quickly, knowing the Avengers were not far behind. The Order nodded before pulling her into a hug. She smiled, struggling to breathe at first because of the number of people in this hug.
"I'm so sorry we're coming so late, I forgot about the time difference. God, there's so much I need to tell you all, first off-." Hermione began before she was cut off by the twins.
"We know-" Fred started,
"Dad, Sirius, and Lupin all went to a place called 'Currys'" George continued.
"And bought a T.V. once you told us there was going to be a battle."
"It took them forever to get all those snakey ropey things hooked up."
"But finally we got it to work."
"It's brilliant I tell you."
"We get why you muggles love it now."
"We could see everything."
"I'm sorry you saw everything?" Hermione asked, she turned to hear a final pop behind her as Bucky was the last to step through the floo. They looked around in awe. Observing the floating pair of knitting needles that seemed to be knitting a sweater. There was a scrub brush scrubbing dishes by itself. There were no lights in the house, everything was dimly lit with candles. It was more absurd than they could've ever imagined.
"Ok, holy shit there's a lot of people, um ok every here are the Avengers." Hermione began introducing, "You've all met my father, Tony, and Bucky. This is Clint, Natasha, Steve, and Dr. Bruce Banner. We can't stay long, we're here to get Coulson."
The Order could help but stare at the group of beaten heroes. Molly was the first to speak as she began concerningly checking over Hermione,
"Hermione dear we would've brought him to you, you should not have flooed after falling from the sky!" Molly pulled out her wand and began running first aid spells over the young brunette. The Avengers watched in amazement as Molly began healing a small cut on Hermione's forehead, disappearing before their eyes.
"Molly, I'm fine. A little bruised but I'll be fine." Hermione reassured. "Where's Coulson?"
"Oh he's in the restroom," Molly assured her before whispering to Hermione, "I'm afraid his stomach is not quite used to the pumpkin juice."
They heard a toilet flush upstairs, before hearing a sink run, then shutting off. Finally hearing heavy footsteps come down the stairs. Coulson came into view,
"Mrs. Weasley I have to say-" He began before looking up and seeing the heroes in the living room. "Oh hey, guys."
"'Hey?'" Natasha started. "That's all you have to say? We thought you were dead."
"Congratulations on the win?" Coulson tried again.
Lupin and Sirius came up and hugged the young witch muttering a 'we're so glad you're ok.' to the young witch.
"Hermione dear, I know it's late but you are your friends must be starving, let me make you something-"
"Thanks, Mrs. Weasley but we're actually going out to get some Shawarma when we get back," Hermione said, grateful for the hospitality even so late.
"What's shawarma? Some muggle device?" Mr. Weasley began asking curiously, and Hermione giggled.
"I actually don't know what it is but seeing as I almost died I don't want to continue living life having never tried it." Hermione smiled at the Weasley patriarch. She noticed Ron had been quiet ever since she'd arrived. "Ron? You okay?"
He only grumbled in response, Hermione looked at the Avenger giving them a 'just a moment' look, "Okay Ron let's talk outside."
The Avengers and the Order couldn't help but watch the conversation between Hermione and Ron which went from quiet whispers to Hermione screaming at the boy. They couldn't hear what they were saying but they knew Ron must've fucked up big time because their argument ended with Hermione slapping Ron in the face. Hard.
Hermione began stomping back inside the house, steam practically pouring out of her ears. When she saw everyone huddled she could only say,
"Thank you for taking care of Coulson Mrs. Weasley. However, we are needed back in the city." She turned to the Avengers and said, "I'll have to give you a tour of the wizarding world some other time."
"May we use your floo, Mrs. Weasley?" Hermione asked politely, once she had confirmation she grabbed a handful telling the Avengers, "I'll meet you back in New York."
Without much of a goodbye, the Avengers awkwardly said goodbye to the Weasleys and flooed back to New York.
Hermione walked outside, Ron following behind her. She was so tired of this, what could possibly be Ron's problem now?
"What is your problem?" Hermione asked her redheaded friend, when he didn't say anything she spoke again, "Well?"
"Forget it." Ron huffed about to walk away.
"No, we're doing this. You barely spoke to me at the funeral, you seem very unconcerned that I just fought in a battle in which I feel from the literal sky-"
"That. Right there." He finally admitted, annoyed.
"What are you talking about?" Hermione asked, genuinely confused by the problem.
"I bet you just love this, don't you? No, why don't you go back to New York and see the statue they're putting up for you." Ron sneered at the young witch.
"Excuse me?" Hermione asked, shocked that this was Ron's problem.
"Have you heard what they're saying about you? You're the next great superhero. People are praising you and-" Ron began to argue.
"Ron I don't care about any of that and no, I'm sorry I haven't heard what they're saying on the news, I've been a little busy trying to save the bloody world!" Hermione screamed. "And in case you forgot I lost my parents days ago. I am barely holding it together over here and you're standing here yelling at me like a jealous arsehole!"
"Oh don't act like you're all sad about your parents when you've got a rich new dad to take care of you." Ron rolled his eyes, Hermione felt like she had been slapped in the face.
"Are you serious?"
"Just admit it. Ever since your parents died your life has gone nothing but up, you're rich, and you're a superhero who everyone loves. I bet you love it, I bet you're thanking Merlin that your parents are 6 feet under-" Ron's words were cut short as Hermione slapped Ron as hard as she could across the face.
"Never talk to me again Weasley, you fucking arsehole." Hermione spat heading back towards the house, fuming.
June 24th, 2012 New York City, New York (7:24 PM)
Hermione came through the floo followed by Tony, then Bucky then the rest of the team.
"What was that about?" Tony asked his daughter, clearly seeing her anger and hurt after the conversation with her friend.
"Don't worry about it," Hermione said, trying to shake off the anger. She looked at Thor and Loki who were confused about what was happening. "You ready to go?"
"Hermione-" Bucky began to start before she whipped around and told everyone.
"Look I am starving, if you want to hear about it later I will tell you later but if we don't go soon I will be going without all of you." Hermione insisted, Tony knew when to back off. She'd talk about it if she needed to, and he was sure she would. This is just the hangryness talking.
They walked toward the shawarma place Hermione had seen when they passed by an electronics store, where a TV was playing the news. The Avengers watched as they heard stories, good and bad about the attacks just a few short hours ago.
"Despite the devastation of what has been confirmed as an extra-terrestrial attack, the extraordinary heroics of a new group known as the Avengers. Has been to many not only a cause for comfort but for celebration." A report says,
"It's just really great knowing they're out there," An interviewer says, "That someone is watching over us.
"I love you, Thor!"
"And then these guys were like…pew pew pew," a young interviewer said, mimicking the gunshots. "And then the air goes…pow. And this green guy goes up and-"
"I don't know. I don't exactly know if I feel safer with those things out there." One interviewer says
"It just seems like there's a lot they're not telling us."
"Superhero heroes in New York? Give me a break." One older, white gentleman says
"These so-called 'heroes' have to be held responsible for the destruction they have done to the city." J Jonah Jameson reported. "This was their fight and where are they now?"
The camera cuts back to their main reporter, "Tough questions are being asked about the Avengers themselves. Their sudden appearance and equally sudden disappearance."
"What, this is all somehow their fault?" A blonde female civilian asked the audience, "Captain America saved my life, wherever he is and wherever any of them are, I would just…I would want to say thank you.
Okay so as far as the last chapter's poll question, I am severely disappointed in all of you as Luke won! What on god's green earth is happening to the world?! The new score is as followed:
Delaney-9
Luke-3
This week's poll question is:
Are Silver Age costumes better then the MCU suits?
Luke prefers the Silver Age costumes because of the nostalgia that surrounds them, they are recongnizable and classic
I however, prefer the modern marvel costumes that we see in the MCU. I think that they are adaptable and yet still recongnizable.
What do you all think?
We are slowly starting to run out of topics to argue about so I would love to get some suggestions from you guys on what you want Luke and I to debate. It can be anything, it doesn't have to be Marvel related. I can't wait to hear your suggestions.
Alright, that's all for me this week, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Finally, I just want to thank you all so much for reading and for giving me all the support. It is what keeps me going. See you all 2 weeks! (Hopefully)
