Gemwing2012: When making this chapter, we are going to take a different approach to make this story go by different drafts and different scenarios so it won't be entirely a copycat of the original movie. And what is Alicia's misadventure getting the unwanted attention of an unwanted lover?
Nataliepthatsme: I have to admit this part of the story is pretty interesting. I love how we can use our imaginations and work around a well known story and make it really cool. I hope as we continue this story we can add new things to make the story more exciting!
LexieLuthor98: Ahhh the good ol fashioned villain vs heroine(s) chase. Seems like an age old formula in cartoons. We're always in the business of changing events around so it's more our style and not copying the actual source material. So this should spice things up a bit. Enjoy!
"This is a disaster." Alicia groaned, giving herself a facepalm.
John, the Dreamstones and animal companions cringed by all the chaos going around the gym as they were looking over the Toons' practice training for the big game.
A disaster was an understatement. It's practically a calamity!
Rather than the typical basketball training with the running, ball bouncing and dribbling, the Toons were pretty much going through their usual antics like they'd normally do in their shows.
Tom was chasing Jerry all over the gym with a baseball bat, trying to flatten the mouse with it, only to smack Donald in the butt when Jerry ran underneath the sailor-suited duck. Donald quacked in surprise and pain as he jumped a foot off the floor before he turned around and gave out his trademark tantrum, quacking angrily at a sheepish Tom as he hid the bat behind him.
Yosemite Sam was firing his guns as a lovestruck Pepé Le Pew aws prancing after Penelope while Megavolt was trying to "rescue and free" the light bulbs in the gym until Darkwing chased him off in the background.
Fred Flintsone from The Flintstones was holding the basketball as he walked on the tips of his toes before throwing the ball like a bowling ball towards Squidward and Mr. Krabs, some SpongeBob SquarePants background characters and the Root Pack, knocking them over like bowling pins.
"My leg!" Fred the Fish yelled offscreen as the Root Pack accidentally landed and squashed Flats the Flounder.
"Uhh, oops." Fred said sheepishly.
"Oh brother…" Kaichi groaned, facepalming.
Taz was spinning like mad as usual, accidentally throwing SpongeBob, Patrick, Scooby and Shaggy flying and each landing into each hoop with their butts stuck in them.
Wile E. coyote was holding the basketball until Roadrunner grabbed it in his crest and ran around the entire gymnasium as well as the humans, let's and Toons before crashing through the wall, creating a huge hole in it, bizarrely, the hole was showing a desert-like backdrop with a road as Roadrunner is seen running down the road, leaving a fading smoke trail.
"Beep beep!" Roadrunner beeped in the distance.
Dumbfounded for a split second Wile E. shook his head before he made a dash after Roadrunner and the ball… only to crash face first into the supposed hole as it revealed to be a gag screen and he had actually ran into the wall behind it. The screen then rolls up, pulling Wile E. inside before he pushes his head out from one side of it.
"Okay… LISTEN UP EVERYONE!"
Every Toon stopped what they were doing and looked to Alicia.
"Everyone stand up in one line!" Alicia ordered as the Toons did what she said.
John was surprised to see her sister act like that. He knew she was shy and all but now she acts like a military officer.
"Whoa!" Katie exclaimed. "Looks like Alicia's getting the hang of this coaching then she thinks."
"Yep. She's practically a natural already." Lexie commented.
As the Toons stood to attention, Alicia sighed. Everyone has a whole lot of work to cut out. They all need to get into proper basketball playing shape if they are to face those Monstars creeps and win this.
"Has anyone here ever played basketball before?" Natty asked.
"Yes, has anyone here had any basketball experience?" asked Alicia as well.
"I have!" Someone answered.
Everyone turned to see Ms. Chalice and the person who had called out in reply as they were holding a spare basketball walking up beside her.
"Wait, is that?" John looked closer to the person.
"Lola Bunny?" said Alicia.
"Hiya, fellas!" Chalice beamed, waving.
"Chalice!" the Cup Brothers screamed.
"Hey Chalice, long time no see." Alicia greeted her and walked up to her with a smile on her face. She was happy to see her again after a very long time not being able to.
"Heard that you Ding Dongs need some help in this game against those Mon-Upstarts in the game and thought I'd lend a hand." Chalice informed. "Also brought along someone who's a natural at basketball. Don't suppose any of ya have met Lola Bunny?"
"Hey?" Bugs looks towards Lola Bunny with a lovestruck face.
"Oh boy, someone is in love." Alicia giggled.
The Dreamstone girls stifled their own giggles.
"I'll say." Katie chuckled. "Someone's certainly the smitten kitten."
"Meow?" Aya mewed in confusion.
"Sorry, girl. Figure of speech." Lexie smiled, clearing up the misunderstood confusion.
"Still, it definitely looks like Bugs is head over heels." Natty commented.
Lola stepped forward as she took over her jacket to show off her white tank top and dark navy shorts as she said, "When Chalice mentioned you needed abled basketball players, I'd like to try out for the team."
"So, Chal, you actually play basketball?" Lexie asked.
"Well back when we had to play against the Devil she wasn't there." Alicia mentioned while looking at Lola Bunny. "Okay Lola how about you show us what you got?"
She takes the basketball from Taz and passes it to Lola.
"Sure." Lola replied. "Any takers on who's gonna be my practice partner so I can show my stuff?"
Bugs' ears went up as he rushed towards her pushing some Toons to the side and even stepping on one.
"Hey watch it!" said Luigi, annoyed as Bugs stepped on his foot.
"Ack! Mind where you're running, lad!" Scrooge scolded as he grabbed his hat just as it nearly fell over when narrowly avoiding Bugs, readjusting his glasses and dusted his sleeve while he had crooked his cane over his other arm.
"Yeah! Ya big palooka!" Donald snapped in agreement.
Bugs had reached Lola, making a dopey smile as Lola held her hand out in greeting.
"Hi, I'm Lola Bunny." Lola introduced.
"Hello my name is …" Bugs started but then he held his mouth but accidentally gave out a mild burp in his sentence. "BUGS."
Katie, slightly startled and a bit grossed out by the awkward introduction, facepalmed while Lola just giggled, not at all bothered.
"You wanna play a little one on one doll?" asked Bugs.
But Lola was not very happy to hear the nickname as fire literally blazed in her eyes as she repeated, "Doll?"
Bugs nodded with a lovestruck face and hearts in his eyes as his pupils transformed into little red hearts and cute little heart bubbles floated and popped around his head
"Uh-huh." Bugs nodded.
"On the court Bugs." ordered Lola as she prepares herself for the Training Session with Bugs while the other Toons and the humans move to the side of the gym.
Only Alicia stays close to the two to see how good Lola can play while Ms. Chalice stays by her side.
Alicia smirked as she said, "This will be good."
She knew what would happen. The fire in Lola's eyes was hard to ignore.
"Yeah, she looks all fired up." Kaichi commented.
"Pun not intended." Natty stated.
"She will finish him off before he knows it." Alicia has seen this a lot in old Cartoons so why should it be different here.
"Ooh, she's hot." said Chalice, waving her hand to cool herself down.
It was a matter of seconds Bugs and Lola were in the center of the gym as everyone stood by and watched.
"Ready?" Lola smirked coyly.
"Yes." Bugs replied.
Lola dribbled the ball with no problem as Bugs struggled to take it from her. She then whizzed around until, leaving him tangled up in knots before she ran up to one of the hoops and dunk the ball through it.
"Whoa! Girl's sure got some skills!" Lexie commented as she, Natty and Katie applauded.
"Brilliant!" Katie cheered.
"Yep, she joins our team." Alicia agreed.
"Oh boy!" Mickey beamed.
Lola approached Bugs, who managed to untangle himself and laid on the floor as he dumbly asked, "Yes…?"
Lola pulls his face to hers as she stated, "Don't ever call me…doll."
She blows her own ears out of her face before letting go of Bugs's face and turns to Alicia.
"Check!" Bugs noted as his body went rigid he fell back to the floor, stiff as a board.
"Very smooth Lola." Alicia held her hand out to shake Lola's hand. "Welcome to the team."
"Hey, nice playing with you." Lola said before she walked outside the door.
Alicia held the basketball in her hand and looked at the others.
"So, shall we continue training?" Natty asked.
Alicia nodded and wanted to move her foot when she suddenly fell to the ground. The basketball rolls out of her hand.
"Sis, are you okay?" John asked, running towards her and helping her stand up.
"What happened?" Lexie added in concern.
Slowly Alicia stands up and looks to the Cups and the others.
"Anyone lend me a pair of sneakers?" she asked the Toons.
"Uh, sneakers?" Cuphead asked awkwardly as he looked at his shoes like.
All of the other Toons looked down at their own feet. All of them were wearing shoes that were either too big, too small or they didn't wear any shoes at all.
"Sorwy." Tweety apologized as he lifted up and showed off his shoeless bird foot.
"And these were only made for dancing." Chalice chimed in as he motioned to her Mary Janes before she did a little tap dance, her little theme tune playing in the background, as the Toons applauded for her performance.
"The girls and I would be happy to lend you some ourselves, but I'm afraid they're back at the hotel." Katie sighed. "Even if we had thought about bringing some, I'm not sure if they'd be in your foot size."
"Well, it looks like I need my sneakers from my home." Alicia sighed. "And I need new sports clothing."
"Your home? In 3D Land?" Daffy sputtered.
"Yes, the 3D Land, Daffy also called 'Real Life'." John stated.
"But that just leaves Lex, Kate and me." Natty spoke up. "I'm afraid none of us had packed any sportswear for our trip."
"I could fix us up some… if I had thought about bringing my paintbrush." Lexie spoke as she rubbed her bare left where the bracelet that her paintbrush takes its form should be. "I must have left it back at the hotel when we had left to meet up with Al and John over at the coffee shop."
"Well, there is still one thing we need to tell you." Mugman commented as he walks over to the group with a worried expression on his face.
"What is it Mugsy?" asked Alicia.
"You can't leave ToonTown."
"Wait… WHAT?!" Kaichi exclaimed as Aya mewed and Daisy squeaked in disbelief.
The Dreamstones gasped in shock and confusion.
"You're kidding Mugsy?" Alicia mentions but the young mug shook his head.
"But why?" Katie asked.
"Uhh… Well…" Mugman didn't know how he could explain it to the group without making the situation worse than it already is.
"There is an invisible barrier that doesn't allow any humans to leave Toon Town." explained Cuphead as he pointed to a window in the gym.
Alicia looked at it and a small bird flew through the invisible barrier like nothing happened.
"Uhhhhh…well that's a problem." Lexie bit her lip.
"A big problem indeed." John added.
"But… isn't there to lift it?" Natty asked in concern. "I mean, we all still have lives and families to go home to."
"Well…" Bugs grabs his carrot from behind his back as he slowly eats it before he continues "There is a way to lift it."
"There is? How?" Katie inquired.
"You all have to win the game and you are free to go." Bugs answered while Alicia gulped nervously.
"Well, I think I need to go outside for a minute." She said and walked outside the gym to be on her own.
She needed it to calm herself down. But unknown to her a certain demon watches her from behind the corner.
"Well, well, well. It would seem that one of my lovely little brides has decided to take a stroll in town all by herself, is she?" The Devil said to himself.
Rubbing his chin in thought, he decided that he should capture his brides to be one at a time. Best to play it safe to catch them by surprise while they're separated from their friends and those other goody-two-shoes Toons.
"Perhaps that should be the best." He considered. "I'm sure I'll spend some time with Alicia for a bit. Maybe invite her for a coffee and then maybe take her back home for a snuggle or two before I grab my little Katie while my darling Alicia takes a little nap afterwards."
He grabs his pitchfork and teleports away while Alicia walks down the street to look for a place to sit and think about the whole situation she is in right now.
A small brown bench in front of a small post office looked comfortable enough for her to sit on it. She walks up to it and sits down signing and moaning.
"Why does this always happen to me?" She asked herself, lowering her head.
She looked into a small puddle and saw herself in it.
"Sometimes I wish I had never opened that Cuphead Book." She groaned.
Sometimes she regrets it. But on the other hand she would never have met the two cups and her husband as well as the Dreamstones.
"Having a bad day, dear?"
Her eyes widened in horror as she heard the familiar voice behind her. She knew that voice and she knew who it belonged to.
Slowly Alicia turned around and saw the Devil. The Devil from The Cuphead Show. She didn't like him. Not because of his British accent. No, she didn't like him because he always tries to seduce or flirt with her.
Even though she is already married to her husband. Of course she already guessed that he would love her too. But was she happy to see him? Nope. Not really she was annoyed to see him and avoid him again like during her adventures in the Show.
"Maybe? Why do you want to know it?" She scoffed, showing him her back and tried to ignore him.
"Oh, don't be like that, my dearest." The Devil said. "You just look so sad and lonely and I thought I'd drop to give you some comfort and company. And I missed you so much."
"Of course you do." Alicia thought, rolling her eyes and didn't say anything.
"Oh, come now. I know you feel the same." The Devil smirked slyly. "Say, since you're going to be stuck in town for a while until you and your little friends win the big game in a couple of days, how about I take you out for a coffee or even a trip to the ice cream parlor? We could share a lovely sundae. My treat."
"Sure why not?" Alicia said sarcastically.
"Wonderful!" The Devil beamed, clasping his claws together. "Let me get out my pitchfork and I can teleport us there in no time."
But before he could do that Alicia was already gone and walked behind a corner hoping to avoid him.
"Huh? Alicia? My sweet? Where did you go?" The Devil exclaimed.
"I hope I can avoid him going through the alleys rather than walking on the open streets where everyone can see me." Alicia said look out of an alley to see if the Devil was nearby.
"Oh, Alicia my darling! Where are you?" The Devil called in a sing-song voice while looking for her. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!"
"Oh great, now he's singing." Alicia moaned inwardly, facepalming.
She looked from where the singing was coming from when she noticed it was coming from behind her.
"You gotta be kidding me." She groaned.
"You can run, my love but you can't hide!" The Devil called out to her.
Thinking fast, Alicia runs into the street almost getting hit by a car as she disappears in a cloud of smoke only to appear in the park under a tree.
"Well I hope he doesn't find me here." Alicia exclaimed as she sat down and leaned against the tree.
"Is that so?"
Just then, something had wrapped itself around Alicia's waist and pulled her up the tree. The next thing she knew, she found herself face to face with the Devil, who transformed into a giant spider, gripping the webbing that had snatched her up while dangling from his own.
"Let me go!" She demanded and punched him in the face. Or tried it at least.
"Now, now, there's no need for that." The Devil tsked as he grabbed her fist in a couple of his extra limbs. "Why don't you be a good girl and settle down. I'm sure you'll relax once you rest in the nice little web I made for you so we can cuddle?"
"You know that I hate spiders, don't you?" Alicia asked with an annoyed expression on her face.
"Oh? My apologies." The Devil shrugged. "How about we get you home and I can give you one of my special hugs instead?"
"I have a better idea. Why don't you let me down and leave me alone?"
The Devil pondered for a second before he answered, "Uh, no. I don't think so."
Alicia rolled with her eyes and didn't say anything. Her husband couldn't come and rescue her. Same for Blood and the others. No one knew where she was right now. The gym was far away from the park.
Even if she could free herself from his grip he would catch her like a wild animal.
Before the Devil could do anything, a fireball strikes him, throwing him back. And the next thing Alicia knew, a glimmer of blue appeared and cleanly cut the web and caught her.
"Ali! Are you okay?" Katie asked in concern as she had Alicia on her back as she was in her dragon form.
"Katie, how did you…" Alicia gasped. She wanted to continue but the Devil appeared in front of them in his own dragon form.
"Not so fast!" He snarled.
"Talk later!" Katie yelped as she turned tail and flew away before the Devil could grab both her and Alicia.
"Hey! Come back here!" The Devil demanded as he flew after them.
"Oh boy, one of the things I didn't miss at all."
"Tell me about it." Katie agreed.
The Devil flew them throughout the town, chasing them in and out in between buildings in a good old fashioned Scooby-Doo Doors gag. He took on the form of a demonic bear as he roared in one direction before he turned into a giant gorilla, gibbering menacingly with his arms raised in another.
Sure enough, Katie and Alicia were running/flying separate directions in between buildings as the Devil turned into various animals, either chasing one of them or both of them together. At one point, the Devil, as a rat, yelped as he frantically ran away from Katie as Alicia was running behind her. Then, bizarrely, the Devil was chasing Alicia as he was on Katie's back.
"Get off of me!" Katie snapped as she bucked the Devil off her like a horse.
The chase continued until Katie carried Alicia away out of the buildings, the Devil chasing them as a dragon again as he roared.
"Can't he just leave us alone?" Alicia asked, annoyed as she looked to the Devil and back to Katie.
"I'm afraid not." Katie sighed in reply.
"This is just great!" Alicia exclaimed. "I'm stuck here, The Devil wants me again and my husband can't save me this time!"
"All the more reason why we're here." Katie smirked. "Hold on, Ali! It's time for a double down!"
"Oh please no!" Alicia gulped. She didn't want to know what Katie had in mind.
"Trust me!" Katie responded in reassurance.
She took a sharp turn towards the woods, the Devil following after her.
"You won't get away!" The Devil shouted after them. "You're both mine!"
Just then Alicia had an idea. "Hey let's do the same thing Shrek did with the Dragon in the first movie!"
"Yep! You mentioned you've done something like this before in one of your previous texts." Katie grinned. "Hold tight! This might get a little bumpy."
Alicia nods and holds onto her. Katie flew faster as she navigated from direction between some trees to another, the Devil sharply following her. Katie continued to weave around the trees as the Devil was unknowingly tangling his long, serpentine body around the trees.
"I almost got you!" The Devil jeered as he made a grab for them.
Suddenly, he felt a tug from behind, making him jerk to a stop and fall to the ground.
"What the-?!" The Devil exclaimed, looking back to realize his coils were tangled up in between the labyrinth of trees. "Oh, not again!"
"Well, looks like someone is in a bit of a tangle." Alicia smirked as Katie giggled.
"We'd love to stay and do some catching up, but we have some training to do." Katie teased. "And it would seem that you're a bit… tied up with a couple of things right now."
Alicia giggled and could hold her laughter back as she laughed at the Devil.
"Ugh! That was so funny I forgot to laugh." The Devil grumbled, rolling his eyes.
"Well, see you never!" Katie chuckled before she and Alicia left the woods to get back into town. "Come on, Alicia, let's get back to the gym. The others are discussing how we can get your stuff and Lex's paintbrush with the Toons' help."
"Um, I don't want to sound mean but I don't want to do that." she said with a sad voice. "I know Lexie and you guys want to help me but I don't know if I can wear toon clothing."
"Still, we should hear them out." Katie stated.
Alicia sighs. "Yeah, you're right."
"It's okay, Ali." Katie said in reassurance. "As a team, we need to trust each other and have faith in one another. You know that, John, the girls and I are here for you, right?"
Alicia nods. "Yeah, it's hard to get used to this after all of the adventures I had."
Katie smiled gently. "I had been alone myself growing up since I had my share of being bullied. I came a long way since I had befriended Lexie and Natty. Our adventures had done wonders. We would have never met you and become friends."
"Well, I was always alone with the cups." Alicia mentioned.
"With friends like us and a caring brother like John, you're never alone." Katie pointed out. "There's also Blood, Muru, Misterie, Aren, Varian and Eira. And your godmothers and your husband are always there for you, too."
Alicia thought about the words before she smiled and heard the voice of her two godmothers.
"Alicia!" Bon Bon's voice cried. "Where are you, my little sugar cookie?"
"My little star, where did you go?" Sally asked.
"Okay, seriously how did they know where we are?" Alicia asked confused.
"They were running some errands when they spotted the Devil creeping about and hurried into the gym to inform us." Katie answered. "The girls and I had split up to look for you. No doubt Sally and Bon Bon came along to lend a hand."
"Al!"
Alicia turned around to spot Lexie and Natty bolting toward her with worried looks.
"I heard what happened! Are you okay?! Did he hurt you?!" Lexie asked.
"Well if you didn't count the…" Alicia spoke but before she could continue, Bon Bon and Sally hugged her tight.
"Heh, I'll take that as a yes." Lexie chuckled.
"Oh, my sweet little Alicia!" Bon Bon exclaimed. "Thank goodness you're not hurt!"
"Thanks, Bon Bon and Sally but you are hugging me too tight!" Alicia stated.
"Oh, dear! Sorry about that." Bon Bon gasped as she and a sheepish Sally quickly broke their hug to give Alicia some space to breathe.
"Thanks." Alicia said as she breathed normally again.
"I can't believe that overgrown throw rug tried to kidnap you at a time like this!" Natty said in annoyance. "Can't he understand now's not the time when we have some aliens to beat in a big basketball game?!"
"Now that you mention that, did you notice how that green one looked at me like he was in love with me?" Alicia mentioned.
"Wait, what?!" Katie cried in shock and disgust. "Eww! Not another unwanted lover! To think that snail from the D.L.C that snobby rat, Gaston LeBoast was bad enough!"
"You forgot Saltbaker." Alicia added, shaking a little bit.
"Oh, right." Katie realized, facepalming. "Not to mention the King Dice from your book. That blockhead is such a creep, attempting to use a love potion on you despite the fact you're already married!"
"Wait, what?!" Sally screamed, her jaw dropping open as she heard that.
Bon Bon tries to close it but it opens again after she removes her hand.
"Oh, right. I think we were the only ones she had mentioned about this when we were comparing him to the King Dice the girls and I had dealt with in our dimension." Natty realized.
"That blockhead is the worst." Lexie groaned. "Dude won't leave me alone for TWO minutes without kidnapping me or pulling some stupid stunts with me."
"I'll say." Katie agreed.
"Well, at least he is not here to hurt our little Alicia." Sally strokes her head.
"I'm not that little." said Alicia as she looked up to Bon Bon and Sally.
"So, think we should head back to the gym before anything else happens?" Katie suggested. "No doubt the Devil might free himself eventually."
Alicia nodded.
"Yes, we'd better." Bon Bon agreed.
"Let's go!" Natty said.
Without the need to be told twice, everyone began to make their way back to the gym.
Between the training for the big game and issues with the barrier as well as dealing with unwanted lovers, things were getting crazier in Toon Town by the minute.
