Monster World:

"Ka'an! No! Don't! You don't need to do this!" Shelly screamed from where she lay sprawled on the ground covered in scrapes, bruises, and torn clothes.

Ka'an began his ascent towards the portals that connected the human world and the monster world, riding a purple platform with a rainbow screen.

"Shelly, I have to do this. I'm the only one. This world's gods have chosen me to carry out this mission. I am the only one." Ka'an told her as he was getting further away.

"No! I refuse to accept that! Come back! We can find another way!" She screamed, slamming her fists to the ground.

"There is no time. The device is already in orbit above the earth and the goo is building up a resistance to duel energy. It's now or we're all dead." He explained, then turned his eyes to the portal above.

Shelly screamed in frustration and beat the ground beneath her, bloodying her knuckles. "Damn! Damn! Daaaammmnnnn!! Take me with you!! Ka'an!! Take me with you please!! She lowered her head and sobbed, her screams falling on deaf ears. Whispering, "don't leave me again.."

High above, the purple platform reached the portal and began to rise beyond it. An eerie sight greeted the lone man as he looked at the black goo that he saw for every inch of every mile that covered the surface of the planet.

"Hello," he said to no one in particular, but what happened next surprised even him.

The goo began to part and reveal bare ground stained black by the unearthly substance.

"Kuriboh, take me down." He commanded.

A questioning chirp was his response, "Kuri, Kuri?"

"Trust me, buddy. I need to be on the ground." He answered. "I can...just feel it."

The purple platform began its descent and slowly approached the clearing on the ground.

Ka'an grabbed a radio off his side, then yelled, "activate the device!"

"Captain Ka'an?" Came the reply, "what're you doing down there sir?!"

"I have to hold it off or it will penetrate the portal and everything we've done up till now will be wasted! Activate the black hole device now!!"

Booms and boons can be heard coming from high in the atmosphere, as large hose-like structures began to move into place almost directly overhead of the human male.

Once down, the man touched the rainbow front of the platform.

"Thanks, buddy. Alright, go back into the safety of my deck. I have a job to do." He said.

The purple began to glow, then swirled around and flew back into the deck of cards in the duel disk.

"No…," a faint feminine voice echoed.

"Alright. Time to get down to business. Let's do this!" Ka'an steadied his stance and activated his duel disk.

A swirl of energy kicked up as the power of the ancients flowed and the strongest monsters let their presence be known.

Ka'an looks down at his deck, then stares at the goo before him. "Let's duel! I draw!"

"No…," the faint feminine voice repeated.

He drew his cards and looked at his hand, then began the duel. "I summon Cosmic Compass in attack mode!"

A monster with four directional indicators formed on his field.

"Compass then special summons tokens on my field for each opposing monster it faces, so I gain four tokens thanks to there being so many of you! Next, I activate two Precious Cards from Beyond spell cards, granting me the ability to draw new cards whenever I tribute summon a high-level monster! Then I activate the spell Card Advance, allowing me to rearrange the top five cards of my deck, and allowing me a tribute summon this turn! Next, I activate The True Name spell, guessing the top card of my deck and then gaining one Divine monster from my deck! Now I sacrifice three monsters, my Cosmic Compass, and two tokens, to summon Slifer the Sky Dragon in attack mode!!"

A storm brewed overhead as he began the summoning. The three monsters turn into streaks of light, pulled into the card in his hand, then he slams the card onto his duel disk. A red energy beam shoots into the sky, disappearing into the clouds. A figure of red light energy formed high in the air then slammed down and coalesce into a large red dragon with a black underbelly, a large blue jewel on its forehead, and dual rows of teeth as its lower mouth opens to a roar.

"Now due to my spells I draw four new cards! Now I special summon Turbo Booster in defense mode."

A small yellow machine with booster rockets flew quickly onto the field.

"Then I activate the spell Double Summon, allowing me to normal summon again! I sacrifice three more monsters, Turbo Booster, and my two remaining tokens, to summon Obelisk the Tormentor in attack mode!!"

There was a loud crack of thunder overhead as the energy began to build. The three monsters grew bright and disperse into thin air as the card hit his duel disk. Then the ground began to crack open and upheave as a large blue monster rose through the earth, throwing rock and dirt in every direction. With horns crowning its head, large shoulder spikes, a large blue jewel in its forehead, and glowing red eyes.

"I'm allowed to draw four new cards! Next, I activate the spell Summon Dice, rolling a one I'm allowed to normal summon right now! Now I summon another Cosmic Compass, gaining two more tokens, next I activate the spell Ancient Chant, gaining The Winged Dragon of Ra from my deck and also gaining the ability to perform another tribute summons, so I sacrifice three monsters to summon The Winged Dragon of Ra in attack mode!!"

The world warmed, the sun shone brighter, and all three monsters glowed and streaked high into the air. He placed the card faceup on his duel disk as a light shone through the clouds. The roar from overhead heralds the coming of the final god card. Golden talons, golden wings, and a full body of gold lowered down from the heavens. A blue jewel on its forehead and an aura of absolute benevolence appeared before him.

"I draw four new cards, now..."

All three god cards towered over him and faced down the goo before them, each one glowing with powers beyond imagination. He turned to them, then back to the goo, and raised a hand. "Battle! Obelisk, raise your Fist of Fate! Slifer, charge your Thunder Force Attack! Ra, ignite your Blaze Cannon!" Ka'an ordered. "Attack!"

The god monsters reared back and flung their powers out in all directions, pushing against the goo and stopping its advance. But the goo didn't just give in like before, it had an entire planet's worth of goo to push in on them. A wall of goo began to build as the attacks pressed against it, growing taller and thicker. The god cards began to lose ground somewhat due to the sheer amount of goo.

"Don't give up! Both worlds are depending on us to hold this stuff back! We are its only hope! Take my energy if you have to, and give it everything we have!!" Ka'an screamed as his body began to glow.

"No!" The voice spoke out again, but it seemed to not be heard by anyone.

All three gods began to charge more power into their attacks, pouring out everything they had just built up. Their attacks flared and grew bigger, Obelisk used both fists together, Slifer opened its second mouth, and Ras' outpouring of power nearly tripled in size.

The wall of goo began to get pushed back again by the overwhelming assault. The device overhead kept sucking up more of the goo with every passing second. 10% of the planet was cleared, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, the goo was really beginning to lose ground, and was trying to pull itself away from the extended tubes sucking it away. It kept massing against the assault from the god cards and reinforcing itself. What felt like an eternity went by as the goo pressed itself against the attack, as the removal was taking longer than expected. 75% of the goo was now off the planet and the rest was pressing down against the attack. The gods' attacks began to wane with the prolonged assault.

"No! No!" The faint voice persists.

The mass had built up and the majority was now surrounding the three gods and the lone duelist. The tubes pulling at the good inched ever closer to the mound where the attacks were ongoing. Finally, the attack from the gods was at its limits, they had to stop and the mound pressed down on them. The gods visibly struggled against the mass of blackness, but each was subsequently submerged beneath its surface, the man was nowhere in sight. The tubes reached the spot and began pulling up the remaining goo. The goo continued to disappear inside the vessel above. Soon all the mass was gone, with just a small glistening of light remaining where the gods once stood.

Sometime later, a rescue party made their way to where Ka'an's location was last reported, focusing on the spot with all available sensors, hoping to find the human, but all that lay in the spot was a single duel disk and three glowing cards, one red, one blue, and one yellow, all vanishing shortly afterward.

"No. Not him too. Not him." The voice cried out.

The world faded to nothing.

In a darkened room, curtains drawn with light peeking through the cracks, a body began tossing in a bed that was ten times an individual's size.

Dark Magician Girl tossed and turned in her bed. "No…, no…, no…, not him…, no…"

An arm reached over and grabbed at her shoulder. The sensation causing her to panic more as an unwanted feeling was surging through her.

"No! No! No!" She continued.

"Mana! Mana! Wake up! Hey! Can you hear me?! Wake up, Mana!" The man gently shook her while trying to hold her still.

Her eyes suddenly flew open and she let out a burst of magic that sent everything away from her. Blankets, sheets, and the human male she had accepted into her bed chambers, all went flying off the bed and onto the floor with an audible, "oof!"

"What?! Where?! I..," was all she could get out.

"Ow!" Was his response.

"Oh! Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you hurt?!" Mana rushed to her bed's edge, looking over the side at the now twisted form tangled in her sheets, then using her magic to lift him back onto the bed's edge.

He grunts, "yeah I'm fine but what about you? You were tossing around pretty hard. Must have been some doozie of a nightmare you were having."

"I… I'm not sure it was a dream, but rather a premonition. Something the future holds if we cannot alter the course of events to come if we can alter them at all." She stated darkly.

"Nifty, though I'd like to get back to sleep for a few more hours if possible but first, could you get me out of these sheets?" He asked begrudgingly, wiggling his trapped fingers for emphasis.

Giggling, she twirled her fingers and the sheets became undone. "There, does that help?" She asked jokingly.

"Ah, oh yeah, so much more comfy not being a human pretzel," he stretched out the kinks, "now back to bed," he stated grabbing her by the shoulders and pushing her down onto her back.

"Wha, hey! You said you wanted to sleep!" She said, surprised by his action.

"And I am, but I just decided to extend that period by a few more hours," he said as he gave a suggestive eye wiggle.

"Oh, you!" She gave an approving grin, wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him into a passionate kiss.
