A/N: I only own the OC
Thank you for reviewing.
I went to back to TIAA Bank Field and into the offices. I was given a visitor badge and showed to Tony's office. I was sitting outside waiting when a larger guy came and sat down beside me. I was waiting and scrolling through my phone.
"Ms Brooks, you can go in now." She said and I nodded. I walked in there and Tony jumped up to shake my hand. He was a very interesting kind of guy.
I talked to him about the position, travel, and other things. I signed my job offer, and I was going start traveling at the next PPV, but then most of the weeks I would be at the headquarters. He didn't feel that the main costumer designer should be on the road 24/7 and I was glad to hear also told me if I had issues with the talent to contact him directly.
I left as the next talent was called in. He looked me up and down before rolling his eyes as I walked past. I remembered why I didn't care for most wrestlers in that moment. I left the stadium and went to pick up Phil. I had a week to find an apartment so no better time to start looking than now.
We went through 5 different complexes before he told me to go back to his loft on Jax Beach. I already felt this was fucking hopeless. We walked in and AJ ran up to hug me.
"I didn't know you were coming in town!" I said and hugged her.
"I heard the good news and wanted to come celebrate!" She said and I smiled at her. AJ was like my sister. We had hit it off as friends when I was designing her costumes in the WWE, and then she really became my brother when they got married.
"Any luck?" She asked us and Phil let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Wait, why don't you stay here? Phil only uses this when he's in town... which isn't very often anymore." She said and I raised an eyebrow at my brother.
"Yeah, then someone can keep an eye on it, and that's why I married her." He said as I smirked at them. I was slightly jealous of their relationship most days... I wanted whatever they had.
"We are going out with Cash and Jamie tonight." AJ said and I realized I would be the 5th wheel.
"Y'all have fun." I said and they both looked at me like I was crazy.
"We can't celebrate your new job more without you." AJ said and I shook my head.
"I'm not being the 5th wheel." I said and she smirked.
"You won't be." She said with a devious smirk.
"No! No blind dates." I said and Phil started howling in the kitchen as I shot him a look.
"Come on, I think you should at least go. We are going to Topgolf... it's going to be fun." Phil finally said and I sighed. I did like Topgolf.
I changed into a fun maxi dress and converse sneakers to match AJs vibe as we all got ready to go to Topgolf. Phil couldn't be bothered outside of his black shorts and tshirt.
We pulled up and Cash was already there. He had gotten us a bay already. We got upstairs to find Cash, Jamie, and Austin (Luchasaurus) already up there. I was so excited to see Austin I jumped into his arms. I hadn't see him in a long time... since he left NXT years ago. He was an amazing guy who was smart, but he just didn't make it in the WWE. I hadn't seen him in maybe 7 years or so, and it was funny because we were good friends when he was with the WWE. We would say hi on Instagram after he left but that was it. He was doing great now in AEW. I was glad to see him again.
"I didn't know you were coming." I said as he sat me back on my feet.
"I heard we were celebrating someone joining the dark side." He said and I shook my head.
I had fun celebrating. Dax and his wife joined us later after their dinner plans. I had so much fun being back with everyone. I was glad to see Austin again and have fun for one night. I knew that this was a huge change, but maybe it was a better change. I needed to move on from the WWE and the pain that came with it.
A few weeks later...
I had gotten all my stuff moved into Phil's place on Jax Beach. AJ was really helpful as Phil did his stuff and trained to get ready for the next pay per view. I was going to be at the next pay per view with Phil to get my start in the company. I was excited and nervous, but more excited that I would actually have an office to work out of. I wasn't lugging supplies everywhere anymore.
We walked into the arena and it felt surreal. We were back in Chicago for his first PPV with AEW. Family was going to be in the crowd, friends were there, and it had been a blast being back home after living in Nashville for a few years when I was with the WWE. I was glad that Mom was here tonight. I knew that we were all glad Phil was doing what he loved even if it killed him. I had finally started to come around to the idea that he came back to wrestling, but also probably because I was working with him again. Phil and I were close for being 10 years apart.
I got set up, met the seamstresses, other team members, met wrestlers, and got all my stuff that I would need that I didn't get in Jacksonville. I realized that the WWE and AEW weren't all that different... still douchebags and hoes running around everywhere.
Phil, AJ, Cash, Dax, and myself were all hanging out in their locker room before the show got started. I knew that they were all nervous as AJ and I were the only two who weren't acting bat shit crazy.
"Do you miss it?" I asked AJ and she smirked.
"Some days, but honestly no." she said and I chuckled.
I had actually trained with AJ at one point and she taught me a lot of stuff, but the wrestling ring just wasn't for me.
AJ and I finally went to the box seats we had to join our mom and some friends. We were all excited for Phil, and thankfully his match went great. I knew that Mom and AJ worried about him every time he got into the ring, especially after all his injuries. Mom had to leave right after because she was a nurse and her shift was starting on 3rd soon, so she hugged us and told us she would see us tomorrow before we left town.
AJ and I made our way backstage to find everyone. I was walking with AJ when someone almost ran us over.
"What the fuck, asshole?" AJ asked them as we both were staring down the same guy from the bar the other night.
"Oh, it's you... nevermind. He's a tool." I told AJ and she rolled her eyes before we walked off.
"I prefer MJF." he shouted at us as we walked off.
"I see why you don't miss it." I said and she chuckled as we got to the locker room. I was glad that I was going to be in the offices instead of backstage every night.
