A/N: I only own the OC
Thank you for reviewing.
I had just gotten done with meetings for the day. Tony was cracking down on some things after a bad incident on AEW and a wrestler was hurt. He wanted the wrestlers to take it more seriously, he wanted the outfits to be more appealing to the fans, he wanted better marketing, and he wanted better retention in his company. He was not happy.
"Rae?" A voice called and I saw Tony walking up to me.
"Do you have time for coffee?" He asked me and I nodded. He was the boss it wasn't like I could say no.
I followed him to the cafe that was in our office building. He ordered for both of us and we sat down. Everyone catered to Tony, and you just went with it.
"How are you liking it so far?" He asked me.
"I like it. It's been nice to really have creative abilities with the outfits, working with the talent, and still going on the road every now and then." I said and he nodded as they brought our cappuccinos.
"You are doing great. We are trying to keep the company on top of things, and I notice that everyone seems to speak highly of you." He said and I gave a smile.
"I am looking for a talent relations person. I wanted to ask you if you were interested. You will be compensated nicely. You won't have to travel except to the main shows like you do now. You can help scout talent and retain current ones." He said and I was surprised.
"Tony, I really don't have a background in this." I said and he chuckled.
"Yes, you do. You have been there for Phil his whole career so you know the business, even if you don't want to. You care about people, and you empathize very well with what people are going through. I have seen it." He said and I was surprised.
"What about costuming?" I asked him.
"Do you think your assistant could handle it?" He asked me and I nodded. I think that sometimes he might have been better at it than me.
"Great, he can be promoted, and you can move into your new position." He said and I slowly nodded.
"So, will you accept the position?" He asked me and I nodded. I had no idea what I was really doing but what the hell.
"Great, let's finish our coffee and I'll head over to legal to get the paperwork written up. You can go celebrate for the rest of the day. I understand you and Wardlow are talking." He said and I chuckled.
"I didn't realize you were so into gossip." I joked and he smirked.
"I do when it comes to my company." He said and I chuckled.
I grabbed my things, and instead of heading to the loft... I went to the beach. I usually wasn't a beach person but I wanted somewhere nice to think. I had a lot going on right now.
I got to a small beach off A1A south of Ponte Vedra. I put on some flip flops I kept in my car, and walked out on the beach. I had worn a dress today so thankfully it wouldn't be bad with the sand. I sat down on a towel I had, and pulled my knees to my chest. Life was changing so much for me right now, and while I was grateful... it was all weird.
I couldn't believe that I was talking to a guy after how things ended with Wade. Michael was really nice, and we texted daily. He was coming in town this weekend. I couldn't believe that I was with a wrestling company again, and somehow got a promotion. I should be excited for everything, but instead I was almost scared.
I sat there until I realized I had sat there for too long. I dusted myself off and headed back towards my place. I was almost there when Michael called.
"Hey." I said.
"What are you up to?" He asked me.
"Driving home. What about you?" I asked him.
"Nothing. I just wanted to call you." He said.
We talked until I pulled in. I told him I would call him back after I got inside. I gathered my stuff and went up to my floor. I walked off the elevator to see Michael standing there with a bouquet of roses and his suitcase.
"I came in a little early." He said and handed me the roses. I smiled and kissed him. He hadn't stayed over before, and I was actually glad he came early. I needed someone to talk to about all this.
"I'm glad you are here." I said and let us in.
"Nice place." He said looking around. I had to agree. Phil letting me live here was kind of amazing. The views were nice.
"It's Phil's. I live here so it's not empty." I said and he nodded.
I showed him where he could put his stuff, and we sat on the balcony after ordering dinner. He opened a bottle of wine, and it was nice out. He was here a night early and I didn't mind. He lived in Ohio still so it was nice to see him when he wasn't at the offices or on the road.
"You seem lost in thought." He said as we sat there.he had tried to hold a conversation but I hadn't carried it. I was too lost in my own world right now.
"Tony offered me a new position today." I finally said and he looked surprised.
"That's great. What is it?" He asked me.
"Talent relations." I said and he smiled at me.
"You will be great at it if you chose to take it." He said and kissed my hand that he had been holding.
"I don't know." I said and he chuckled as someone knocked at the door.
"I will get the food." He said and kissed my forehead as he walked inside. I grabbed our glasses and followed him inside. He got the food and sat it on the island.
We made our plates and sat at the bar table and stools. I almost felt normal eating with him like this. I liked it. I liked living alone, but it was nice to have company.
