Chapter 49: It's Not Our Drama
Santana's POV
*Friday 11th August 2023*
Brittany and I have had a busy morning so far. We were trying to give both Jaxon and Xavier baths but it wasn't working out the way we imagined. All Jaxon wanted to do was play with his toys and Xavier just didn't like the water at all. Brittany did try and entice Jaxon into the tub with his bath toys but he just wasn't having it. In the end we did eventually get the them both to take a bath but with the time it took, it really did shift our whole schedule.
"Santana?" Brittany says as she enters the living room where I am.
"Yeah" I smile.
"Your sister has just pulled up outside. Did you know she was coming over?" Brittany asks me curiously.
"I didn't actually" I shrug before leaving the room and walking to the front door to open it.
"Hey" Carly smiles at me as she reaches the door.
"Hey" I smile back.
"So, what's going on?" Brittany asks as I close the door and we all make our way back to the living room.
"Not much" Carly shrugs.
"Is this just a surprise visit?" Brittany asks. We don't mind family coming over to visit but normally they call ahead or whatever since we have so much on our plates at the moment so it's better for us to be prepared for visitors.
"Yeah, I just wanted to come and see my nephews, is that ok?" Carly tells us.
"Yes of course it is" I state. "I still think you want something though" I point out.
"I mean I guess since I'm here then you could give me some advice on something" Carly shrugs.
"I knew it" I say proudly since I am right once again.
"So, what is it you need advice on?" Brittany asks curiously.
"My career" Carly replies.
"I'm sorry I won't be able to help with that because I'm not a model but Santana on the other hand, she could totally be a model" Brittany smiles at me.
"Thanks babe" I smile back. "So, Carly, what's going on? I thought you were booking jobs all over the place?" I ask my sister.
"I just don't know if modelling is right for me anymore" Carly sighs. "I think I really need to sit down and think about my life and what I actually want to do with it. I just really need your help because you're good at figuring stuff out" she explains.
"Ok, I'll help you" I smile.
"Thanks" Carly smiles back.
"Now isn't the best time though so how about, I come over tomorrow morning and we can go through things properly then. That way it'll give us more time to help you because the kids will need fed and everything in an hour so I don't have a whole lot of time just now" I explain.
"Tomorrow is great, thanks Santana" Carly smiles.
"You can stay and hang out with us just now if you want though, you don't have to leave just because we're busy" Brittany tells her.
"Ok, cool" Carly smiles.

Brittany and I finally have a little bit of time to ourselves now after spending time with the kids and Carly. Xavier has been napping for a while and Jaxon has just gone down so we're hoping to get a few things sorted out while the boys are sleeping. There is a massive pile of laundry to do so we're just in the middle of tackling that right now. It's not the most exciting job in the world and I would rather do something other than chores with my wife but we need to be productive with our child free time.
"I hate doing laundry" I groan as I sort the clothes into piles depending on their washing specifics like whites, colours and delicates.
"Do you?" Brittany asks and I nod. "I love doing laundry" she smiles.
"There you go then my love; you can do it all" I say as I pass her the pile of laundry that I had.
"I meant I love doing laundry with you because we get to hang out, I didn't mean I like doing it on my own" Brittany states.
"Ok" I smile.
"How about I do the laundry myself but you just stay and hang out with me?" she suggests.
"Ok, we'll do that" I tell her.
"I also kinda like doing laundry because I can nose around at your sexy underwear" Brittany smirks at me.
"I knew you would say something like that" I laugh.
"Yeah, it was predictable" Brittany laughs too.
"It's kinda gross though babe because the laundry isn't clean" I point out.
"Yeah, I guess that is true, maybe I should just focus on what I need to do. There is always clean underwear upstairs that I can riffle through" she jokes.
"I might need to invest in a lock for my underwear drawer now" I tease.
"Yeah maybe" Brittany laughs.

*Saturday 12th August 2023*
Brittany and I are just heading to my sister's place right now. Xavier and Jaxon have both been up for a while now and Jaxon has had his breakfast and Xavier has been fed so we're hoping the rest of the morning will run smoothly. Ideally, we'll help my sister for a while and once we're finished, we should be back home in time for our kids to have lunch and take a nap. Things don't always go to plan but at the moment this seems like the best idea to go now to visit my sister since the kids aren't due any naps or food right now so we should have the time to help Carly.
"Ok, let's go little people" Brittany says as she parks up the car and helps Jaxon out of the back before getting Xavier out.
"Why don't you and me go in together while mommy carries Xavier?" I say to Jaxon.
"O-k" Jaxon smiles at me as I lift him up.
"Are you ok carrying everything up a few flights of stairs or do you want me to take something?" I ask my wife as she juggles Xavier in his car seat as well as his diaper bag along with the car keys and her wallet and cell.
"It's ok, I've got it" Brittany smiles at me. "I probably should have brought my purse to put the wallet and keys in but it's fine" she shrugs.
"Ok" I nod.
"Thanks anyway" she smiles at me.
"Hey Jax, do you want to knock on Auntie Carly's door for us?" I ask my son as we reach my sister's apartment.
"Yeah" Jaxon replies before knocking on the door.
"Hey, come in" Carly says a few seconds later as she opens the door.
"Thanks" Brittany replies as we all walk in the door with Carly closing it behind us.
"Um…what is he doing here?" I ask annoyed as I walk inside and see Matt.
"Hello to you too, Santana" Matt replies cheekily.
"Seriously Carly, why is he here because this is your apartment and he doesn't live here anymore with you" I state.
"He's just picking up some more of his things" Carly tells me.
"How about I save you the trouble and just box these things up for you and send them to you. There is no need to bother Carly all the time" Brittany tells Matt.
"Or even better, I'll just trash all the stuff" I chuckle.
"No, I'd rather manage my own stuff because who knows what will happen to it if I leave it up to you two" Matt replies.
"Who knows what will happen?" I question. "Matt, I just said I would trash everything so that is what will happen to your stuff. Weren't you listening?"
"So, when is the baby due?" Matt asks, ignoring my question.
"I'm not even going to dignify that with an answer" I shrug.
"Why not?" Matt smartly asks.
"Because you know fine well Santana has already given birth" Brittany states before I can even answer. "I'm not standing with a new born baby in my arms for no damn reason" she adds annoyed.
"Babe, don't rise to it. He's just trying to get a reaction out of us" I tell my wife. I know normally I would rise to something like this because he's basically saying I still look 9 months pregnant but right now, I don't actually care. I have more important things on my mind than someone saying I look overweight.
"Guys, can we not do this right now. I'm not in the mood for the childish behaviour or the games" Carly sighs, getting worried we'll get into another argument with Matt or something.
"Don't worry, nothing will kick off today" Brittany tells my sister.
"Matt, just hurry up and get your stuff and leave please. I'm going to go to the living room with my family so close the door on the way out" Carly tells him.
"Yeah, and make sure the door hits you as you leave" I say as I make my way to the living room with Jaxon, followed by Brittany and Xavier.
"Honey…"
"It's ok Brittany, I'll leave it there" I assure my wife. I know she is worried I was going to start something even though Carly told me not too but I wasn't. I just wanted to say one last thing to Matt and let him know I wouldn't mind him being hit by something since it's the least he deserves.
"I know it sounds bad but aren't you just glad all of this drama at the moment isn't ours?" Brittany asks me.
"Yeah, I am. I hate that it's affecting my sister but I am just so glad things are as great as they are with you, me and our boys" I tell her.
"Yeah, exactly" Brittany nods.
"Ok, I'm ready to get started" Carly says as she joins us in the living room.
"Cool" I smile.

*Wednesday 16th August 2023*
Brittany and I have finally just got ourselves into bed for the night. It's been a long night because both kids did not go to sleep easily. Xavier wouldn't stop crying tonight and Jaxon just didn't want to go to sleep. Jaxon wanted to keep playing with his toys but eventually we managed to persuade him to go to bed but then Xavier started crying again so it kept Jax awake. Eventually they both did fall asleep but like I say, it was later than we wished for them to go to sleep so it's been a tiresome night.
"Finally, we can lie down and get some rest" Brittany says as she slips under the covers.
"I know" I say as I join my wife in bed, wrapping my arms around her once I'm under the covers.
"I'd love to stay awake and spend some time with you but I don't know that I can, I'm really quite tired tonight" Brittany points out.
"I know, me too" I say in agreement. "We can just go to sleep if you want and hope tomorrow we'll have a little time to hang out" I add.
"Ok" Brittany smiles before leaning in to peck my lips.
"Goodnight, Britt" I smile.
"Night" Brittany says, smiling again as we get comfortable and close our eyes.
Brittany seems to fall asleep straight away but I don't have that same luxury. I'm lying awake on my own for what feels like hours but it's probably only been 10 minutes. When I do finally start to fall asleep, I'm rudely awoken by a loud bang at the front door with someone knocking ferociously on it.
"What the hell?" I say as my wife and I jolt awake.
"Oh my god, who is this at this time of night" Brittany says annoyed as she leaps from the bed and grabs her bathrobe, putting it on.
"I will end whatever bitch is at that door right now. Both kids are finally asleep now and so were we" I state as I march downstairs in my pajamas, not bothering with my bathrobe.
"It's Carly" Brittany tells me as she looks through the window next to the door before quickly opening it.
"Carly, what the hell. It's late" I say annoyed. I love my sister, I do, but it's so late at night and I was just about to finally get a little sleep after being awake with the kids.
"I don't know what to do" Carly says as she breaks down in tears.
"Oh my god, honey. What is going on?" Brittany asks concerned.
"I don't know how to handle this" Carly states, tears running down her cheeks.
"Handle what?" I ask confused.
"Come on, let's go and sit down" Brittany says as she puts her arms around Carly and leads her through to the living room to sit down.
"Nothing makes sense" Carly says as we all sit down on the couch with Carly sitting in the middle of my wife and I.
"You're talking in riddles Carly so take a breath and tell us what's really going on" I say, starting to get a little impatient since I don't understand what's happening.
"Jess and I were hanging out tonight and then she said something and it totally messed me up" Carly says, taking a second to gather herself together to talk to us.
"Did you have an argument and fall out?" Brittany asks.
"No, it wasn't something mean she said" Carly shakes her head.
"Then what happened, honey?" Brittany asks softly.
"Jessica told me she's fallen in love with me and I don't know what to do" Carly says confused. "I have just broken up with my boyfriend and Jess is my best friend so I don't know what to do with this information. Like why is she telling me this and why now, I just don't understand where it all came from and what she wants from me" she says, starting to panic a little.
"Oh, ok" Brittany nods.
"Wait…why aren't you as shocked as I am?" Carly asks Brittany and I.
"Because we already knew she loved you" I admit.
"You did?" Carly asks shocked. "Why didn't you say something then and warn me?" she asks confused.
"It wasn't our place" Brittany tells her.
"It wasn't your place?" Carly asks in disbelief. "Santana you're my sister and Brittany, you're just as close to me. Don't you think you could have said something?" she asks sadly.
"Santana wanted to tell you, honestly" Brittany replies. "Its just Jess told me in confidence and she was struggling with it too so we didn't want to make her uncomfortable. Also, you were with Matt so we didn't want to tell you and cause unnecessary drama to your relationship" she explains.
"I'm not with Matt anymore though" Carly replies.
"We know but it still didn't feel right for us to say something when it was Jess's news to tell. Look, we hated keeping you in the dark but we thought it was better coming from Jess than us" Brittany says.
"I just don't get it, like where did it come from because we've known one another for years. We've always been best friends and have always been into guys. Girls have never really been an interest for either of us because we're both straight" Carly says.
"So, is there any way you could love her back?" Brittany asks softly.
"Like I say, I've never thought about her like that because we've always had boyfriends" Carly replies. "It's just a lot to process right now and I don't know how to handle things" she sighs.
"Is it because Jessica is a girl or because she's your best friend?" Brittany asks.
"It's because she's my best friend and I haven't thought about her like that before. I mean I've not really been into girls before but it doesn't mean I'm not flattered if a girl liked me. I'm just struggling to get my head around the fact it's Jessica who likes me. Like, she's straight. We're both straight and we like guys. In our younger years you should have seen the number of guys we used to sleep with" Carly states.
"Um…big sister right here that doesn't want to know how many hook-ups you had" I point out.
"Ok" Carly laughs. "I'm just saying, it was always guys for us, never girls so why now does Jess like me?"
"These things sometimes just happen. You start spending a lot of time with someone and realise you've seen a different side to them. I mean with the troubles with Matt then you were spending more time with Jess so things maybe developed for her" Brittany says.
"Ok but I've always spent time with Jess. Maybe we didn't spend as much time when we were in relationships but before we had serious boyfriends, we always spent time together so that wasn't a new thing" Carly replies.
"I know but time is different now and you've both grown up and got older. You both have a different approach to life now as you navigate the world compared to when you were younger. It was all just fun when you were in your teens but now in your twenties, you're both wanting more mature relationships. Jess is probably just realising now that spending time with you feels better than spending time with anyone else. It's you that she wants in her life, not a boy" Brittany explains.
"I still don't understand though" Carly says frustrated. "Why didn't she know years ago when we spent this much time together?"
"Like Britt said, it was a time thing. When you were younger settling down maybe wasn't a thing so if it wasn't on her radar then she wouldn't have felt those things. Now as she is older, she realises that she wants to be with someone and she feels it's you" I say.
"Ok" Carly nods, getting what we mean now.
"It's just one of those things where the more you're around someone the more you really see who they are so sometimes it's for the better and sometimes it's for the worse. Maybe you felt that with Matt in the end where you realised it wasn't right whereas for me, the more time I spent with Santana when we first met the more I knew she was the one for me" Brittany says.
"Yeah, I mean I always knew I was attracted to Brittany when we first met but I didn't give it a second thought about being with her until we were spending more and more time together realising we liked more and more about the other" I say.
"It's also about not really having a choice who you like. I mean I don't think Jess would have wanted to complicate your friendship or cause some of the drama but ultimately you can't help who you like. I mean I didn't go into my first day working for Santana knowing I liked her. I didn't really want to complicate our working relationship because in the beginning it probably would have been easier to just work for her and keep it at that but Santana gave me no other option. She was just too amazing that I couldn't help falling for her" Brittany says.
"Are you saying it's my fault?" I tease my wife.
"Kinda because you were so amazing that I'd be a fool not to be with you" Brittany smiles at me.
"Yeah, I mean it probably would have been easier in the beginning for me too to just hire someone and go back to having a full workforce but in the end, I am glad neither of us went for the easy option and finally were true to ourselves" I smile back.
"That's cute and everything but this is about me. What am I supposed to do now?" Carly asks confused.
"Firstly, I think you need to take a minute and think about how you feel about Jess" Brittany says. "I know she's your best friend but let's dig deeper and see what she means to you."
"Ok" Carly nods.
"First of all, do you see her as a sister because if you do let's stop right now cause it won't work" I state.
"I mean I'm super close to Jess like I'm close to you but I definitely don't see her as my sister. It's not a bond like that that we have" Carly replies.
"Ok, good" I nod. "We're on the right path then" I add.
"You care about her and have love for her, we can all see that but if we think about it. Do you think you do some of the stuff together that maybe a partner would do?" Brittany asks.
"We have a very strong bond, like I would do anything for Jess but isn't that the same with your best friends?" Carly asks.
"I mean yeah, I'd do anything I could for Quinn and the same goes for Brittany with Mercedes and Tina" I reply. "Do you feel that you miss Jess when you're not together?" I ask.
"Yeah, I think so" Carly nods.
"I miss my friends sometimes but the magnitude is not nearly as much as missing Santana. When I'm with Santana, no offence but my friends aren't really on my mind. I love them and all but it's a different feeling" Brittany states.
"I mean I guess there were times lately where I even missed Jess when I was with Matt and should have been content with my boyfriend" Carly admits.
"There's your answer then" I shrug. "It's ok to miss your friends when you're not hanging out but knowing you're not as happy with your boyfriend as you are with your best friend does ring a few alarm bells."
"Wasn't that just because Matt and I were in a bad place. It might not necessarily be that I wanted to be with Jess, I just wasn't happy with Matt?" Carly wonders.
"I think it's maybe all still a bit raw right now so maybe you should take some time to think things over and then see where you're at" Brittany says.
"Ok" Carly nods.
"Out of curiosity, how did you and Jess leave things after she told you?" I ask my sister.
"She just told me she didn't expect me to be a certain way around her. She just said she felt like I should know but it doesn't mean things need to change. She was happy to be my friend and she understood if I didn't want to be her friend anymore" Carly replies.
"Ok so you both left it open in a way to take time to process things?" I ask.
"Yeah, we didn't argue or anything got heated, it was just a bit awkward really because neither of us know what to do now. I mean don't get me wrong, I still want us to be friends no matter what happens because it's too much friendship to throw away" Carly says.
"Yeah, I understand" I smile.
"So, you think I just need to take some time to calm down, get over the shock and see where we stand?" Carly asks.
"Yeah, exactly" Brittany smiles as she pulls Carly in for a hug. "Also, keep in mind that it is ok if you don't see anything romantic with Jess. It's maybe not what she would like to hear but she'll understand since you are best friends because she won't want you to force something that isn't there. I know you don't want to hurt her but don't hurt yourself either in the process so make sure you do what you want, ok?"
"Ok" Carly smiles. "Anyway, I better go home now and let you both get back to bed. I am sorry for disturbing you" she apologises.
"Honestly, it's fine. We're here for you for whatever you need" Brittany says as she hugs Carly.
"Thank you" Carly replies.
"We'll talk to you tomorrow or something" I say as I hug Carly before Brittany and I walk her to the door.
"Ok, night guys" Carly smiles.
"Goodnight honey" Brittany says.
"Yeah, goodnight" I tell my sister and then she leaves.
"Ok, back to bed for you and I now" Brittany states as she grabs my hand and leads me upstairs.
"I'm not even tired anymore since we've been awake again" I point out.
"I know, me neither" Brittany replies as we get back into bed.
"Come on, let's do this" I say as I remove my pajama pants. "Get on top of me" I instruct my wife.
"Wait…we're having sex right now?" she asks surprised but yet excited.
"Yeah, we are" I tell her.
"But you've just given birth a couple of weeks ago. Isn't it too early because you haven't had a check-up with your doctor?" Brittany asks concerned.
"It doesn't matter, we're doing this" I smirk.
"Ok" Brittany shrugs.
"Seeing my sister so upset made me realise that I don't want to waste any more time with my love so when I'm feeling something I'm just going to go with it. You were really attractive tonight, the way you looked after my sister so your kindness was turning me on" I smile.
"Was it really?" Brittany asks smugly.
"Oh yeah so come here" I say as I pull her head down to kiss her.
"Wait, I should at least grab a condom before we go any further because we need to be really careful this time" she tells me.
"Fine but hurry up because one of the kids will likely wake up soon" I state.
Brittany's POV
*Friday 18th August 2023*
"Why are you dressed like that?" Santana asks me confused as I walk into the bedroom where she currently is.
"I'm in my swimwear because we're going to take a swim in the pool. We're starting off your day today with some exercise in the pool so get that sexy butt of yours in this bikini" I tell her as I wave her swimwear in front of her.
"My bikinis don't fit me at the moment since I put on the weight during pregnancy so swimming won't work this morning, sorry" she tells me with a shrug.
"That's funny because you were wearing bikinis and going in the pool when you were 9 months pregnant" I point out.
"Shit" Santana mutters.
"You're not so smart now, are you?" I say triumphantly. She thought she could pull a fast one but sadly for her it didn't work.
"But wait, what about the boys? We can't leave them alone inside when we're out in the back yard in the pool" Santana says.
"The boys are fine because my mom is downstairs" I tell her.
"She is?" Santana asks surprised. "I didn't know anyone came over to visit."
"She wants to take Jaxon and Xavier out for the day. She's meeting some friends for coffee and wondered if we wanted her to take the boys with her to give us some time to ourselves. Really though, I think she just wants to show off her grandsons to her friends" I reply.
"Well, I mean who wouldn't want to show off the cutest boys in town" Santana smiles.
"I know" I smile. "Anyway, I thought with the time on our own then we could put it to good use and work out a little bit" I add.
"Couldn't we put it to good use in another way" Santana winks at me as she wraps her arms around me.
"Not going to happen right now" I say while playfully hitting her butt. "Now, put this bikini on please" I tell her.
"The next time you suggest sex, I'm going to say no like you just did" she states.
"Babe, we both know you don't actually want to have sex right now. You just suggested it because you want to work out even less" I point out.
"Yeah" Santana laughs.
"I've said it before and I'll say it again, I know you babe and I know your tricks" I smile.
"Yeah, you really do" she smiles. "Anyway, I will get changed just now and meet you downstairs" she adds.
"Ok" I smile before leaving the room again.
As soon as we say goodbye to the boys, my mom heads out with them for the day. Santana and I then make our way outside to the pool. I drop my robe and dive in straight away because it's the only way to get used to the cold water as quickly. However, Santana slowly steps into the water at the steps, taking her time between each step. She tells me it's because the water is too cold for her but to be honest, I think she's just trying to waste as much time as possible so that our session will be shorter in the pool. It's not going to work though because the boys will not be back for a while yet so we've still got plenty of time to be in the pool before we need to get out and get back to our mom duties.
"Santana, come on" I say seriously. It was cute in the beginning but now I'm getting a little bored waiting on her so I'd rather she just got in and we could start.
"Am I beginning to annoy you?" Santana asks amused.
"Just a little bit honey because I do want to just get on with what we need to do" I reply softly.
"You know I don't want to do this and it sounds like you don't really want to do it either so why don't we just do something else with our time" she suggests.
"No-no, we're working out today so we'll do this" I smirk.
"Fine" Santana sighs before fully stepping into the water.
"Thank you" I smile as I make my way over to her.
"So, what do you want me to do first?" Santana asks as she wraps her arms around my neck and hoists herself up to wrap her legs around my waist.
"Not this, that's for sure" I laugh.
"Any more of those comments and I'll think you aren't attracted to me and don't find me sexy anymore" she states. "It's like you don't want me."
"You know it's not like that" I smile. "I just don't think we're going to be able to work out with your arms and legs wrapped around me. I was thinking we start with doing a few lengths of the pool" I tell her.
"Ok, fine. Let's do it then" Santana nods as we pull away from each other.
"Shall we race each other?" I ask.
"No because we both know already that you would win. I don't have the stamina at the moment because of my lack of exercise recently so I'll barely be able to do a length of the pool" she replies.
"We'll just take things easy then" I smile.
"Ok" Santana nods.

Santana and I have finally finished in the pool now so we're just heading back inside. We actually had quite a good workout today and Santana managed to do a lot more than she thought she could so I think the workout plan is on track. Jaxon and Xavier still aren't home yet so it's just my wife and I at home. We're going to get changed out of our swimwear and maybe hang out and have some lunch together.
"Hey, I know I have a bad attitude sometimes but just ignore it because I actually do think these workout sessions are working for me so I want you to keep pushing me" Santana says.
"You did great today babe so we're progressing nicely with the workouts" I smile.
"Hopefully this baby weight will gradually disappear" she states.
"It will so we just need to keep at it" I tell her.
"Yeah" she smiles.
"So, we should get changed now" I say.
"We're still alone and we do have some spare time now so what do you say we go upstairs and lose the swimwear" Santana suggests.
"I think that's a capital idea" I smile.
"Hey, that's my line" she laughs.

*Sunday 20th August 2023*
Oh, my goodness, what a day it's been already and it's only still morning. I was woken up at all times of the night with Xavier since he hasn't settled into a routine yet so I was feeling quite tired when I got up. Things started to go even more pear shaped though from the moment Jaxon and Santana woke up. I don't mean in any way it was their fault, I just mean it all started at that time of the morning. Jaxon wouldn't eat his breakfast that Santana made him so then I had to make him something else then Xavier started crying. He wouldn't stop crying every time I put him down so I had to hold him the whole time which wasn't easy when you have stuff to do.
I've finally just put both kids down for their morning nap but that was not easy. Jaxon didn't want to nap and Xavier was getting restless because Jaxon was restless. I spent ages on my own trying to calm them both down because I promised Santana I would handle mommy duty while she took some time to herself. She had two pregnancies to go through whereas I didn't so I owed her this time. It just sucked a little bit because I think I could have done with her help. I've now just flopped down on my bed, laying on my stomach, hoping to take a nap myself. I'm just drifting off to sleep again when I feel an arm place over my back. I'm really hoping it's Santana's arm otherwise there is someone else in my house, trying to hug me.
"What are you doing?" I mumble sleepily.
"Going back to sleep, are you?" Santana asks amused.
"I am exhausted" I say sleepily. "I've never had that much trouble before putting the kids down for a nap. Xavier wouldn't stop crying and Jaxon just didn't want to nap at all" I explain.
"You should have come and got me and I would have helped. I wasn't doing anything exciting, just reading some work emails in our home office" Santana replies.
"I didn't want to take you away from your me time because I owed you this time to yourself" I tell her.
"Honestly, I wouldn't mind because it's for the kids" she assures me.
"Ok" I smile.
"I was going to suggest we do something fun like maybe having sex but I guess you don't want to" she states.
"I'm not sure that I can do anything right now" I say regretfully.
"That's ok, we can just lie here together" Santana says as she snuggles into me.
"Sounds good" I smile.
"I could probably fall asleep myself, given the chance" Santana admits but no sooner has she said it that we hear Xavier start crying.
"Seriously?" I mumble tiredly.
"It's ok, I've got it. Just stay right there" Santana says as she gets off the bed.
"Is Xavier, ok?" I ask.
"Just go back to sleep, it's fine" Santana assures me.
After having a well needed rest, it was time to wake up again and get back to my mom duties. Santana did a wonderful job of jumping up each time one of the kids needed us when I was asleep so it's now my turn to repay the favor again. We're probably all just going to hang out together though and have some fun.
"Shall we all play together?" Santana asks Jaxon.
"Ok" Jaxon says excitedly.
"What should we do?" I ask my son as I pick Jaxon up.
"Pool?" Jaxon suggests.
"I don't know if we should go in the pool right now buddy because Xavier can't really go in yet so he won't be able to join in" I tell him.
"Xavier and I could sit by the pool together while you two go in" Santana states.
"Shall we do that Jax?" I ask him.
"Yes!" Jaxon replies happily.
"Ok, let's go and get our swimwear on" I say as I lift Jaxon to his bedroom.

*Monday 21st August 2023*
Santana and I spent most of the morning hanging out together with the kids. We've all just finished eating lunch together so we're doing our own thing. The kids are having a usual mid-day nap and Santana is upstairs having some time to herself. I'm just doing some work in the home office but I'll be stopping soon because Jessica text me about a problem she's having so she's going to come over within the next half an hour and I'll help her. I'm just making my way upstairs now to let my wife know what's happening.
"Hey, you" Santana smiles at me as I enter the bedroom.
"Hey, Jess is coming over soon. She wants to ask me about a few work things" I tell my wife.
"Ok" Santana smiles.
"Are you ok just hanging out by yourself or do you want to join us?" I ask.
"I'm not really in the working mood right now so I'll let you both do what you need to do. I can just relax for a while and once the kids wake up, I'll hang out with them" she tells me.
"Ok" I nod.
"Do you want to spend 5 minutes with me now before Jess comes over?" Santana asks.
"Sure but no funny business because we don't have time for that" I tease.
"I will try and keep my hands to myself" Santana smirks.
"Ok" I smirk back.
After hanging out with my wife for a little while, there is a knock at the door so I make my way downstairs. Santana remains upstairs so she's close to the boys while I invite Jessica in and we go to the kitchen while I make some coffee. We then take our drinks to my home office and get sat down, ready to start work.
"So, how are you?" I ask Jessica.
"I'm good" Jessica smiles. I can tell it's not a genuine smile though.
"You're not good, are you?" I ask softly.
"Yeah, I'm fine" she smiles again. I can still tell she's not being truthful.
"I can tell something isn't quite right today with you" I admit.
"Ok I'm not fine but I won't bore you with my issues so let's just focus on work" Jessica shrugs.
"Carly has spoken to us so we know you told her the truth about how you really feel. I'm guessing that might be the reason you're not feeling too good right now" I say.
"Oh Brittany, I think I've fucked it" Jessica sighs. "Carly feels so awkward around me now and she doesn't know what to do. I should have kept my mouth closed and not make it difficult for her. I might have just ruined our friendship now whereas if I didn't say anything she would still be my best friend."
"I am sure the awkwardness will pass; it'll just take time because everything is still quite fresh" I tell her.
"What if it doesn't though, what if Carly can never get back to feeling comfortable around me?" she sighs.
"I don't know how she really feels in a romantic way but I know you mean the world to her as her best friend. That hasn't changed for her because she still cares about you and has love for you so it won't always be like that. I guess she just doesn't know if she's in love with you yet so that is still something we need to figure out" I say.
"I just hope our friendship recovers if she doesn't feel the same way" Jessica states.
"I think it will, just give it a little time" I reply.
"Ok" Jessica nods.

Jessica and I had been working for a while so now we're taking a break. I'm just in the kitchen making us another drink while also making Santana some herbal tea. Santana said she was fine looking after the boys for a while more so I could continue with my work. Honestly, I have the best wife ever.
"Hey, I made you some tea" I tell Santana as I enter the living room where she is with the kids.
"Thanks honey" Santana smiles at me.
"Are you honestly sure you're ok with me working right now while you're left to parent yourself?" I ask my wife.
"Honestly babe, it's fine. Do what you have to do" she smiles again.
"Ok" I nod. "I'll make it up to you all later by cooking dinner and hanging out with all 3 of you" I add.
"Sounds good" Santana replies. "So, how is Jess? I am assuming she knows we know now about her telling Carly the truth about her feelings" she asks.
"She's ok but not like totally happy. She understands that Carly needed time to process but she's also a little confused about where they now stand with each other and whether they'll ever at least be friends again" I explain.
"Fair enough" Santana nods.
"Hey, you know how I always tell you not to meddle in your sister's life?" I say.
"Uh-huh" Santana says sceptically, wondering where I am going with this.
"Well just this once, I think you should" I tell her.
"I'm listening" Santana says intrigued.
"We need to do something to get her and Jess talking again. I know they haven't exactly fell out but they're not really talking to each other either. It's all very awkward" I point out.
"What do you have in mind?" my wife asks me.
"I don't know, you've got the brains babe" I shrug.
"I could just do something simple like asking Carly to come over and I'll make up an excuse about why, and maybe you could ask Jessica to come over to help. That way they'll run into each other here and we can persuade them to talk" Santana suggests.
"Actually, why don't we do it now" I say as an idea pops into my head. "How about you ask Carly to come over just now to help you with the kids since I'm working. I'll keep working with Jess to keep her here but don't tell Carly Jess is working with me. Just make it out like you need some help with the kids because I'm unavailable" I explain.
"It sounds like a good idea in theory since we already have Jess here but how do we know Carly will be free to come over?" she asks.
"Well, we don't know that yet but it's worth a try because we really need to get them together to at least talk. Of course, they don't need to decide on the future as such but at least get them in the same room to see if they can salvage their friendship. Then if they're meant to be then they can discuss that further down the line once they know if they can get back what they had" I state.
"Ok, I'll text Carly and see what she says" Santana replies.
"Awesome" I smile. "I'm going to go back to work now but let me know if she's coming over so I can find a way to convince Jess to stop working for a moment so we can get them together."
"I will, I'll come and find you as soon as Carly replies" Santana says.
"That's cool" I smile.
