Chapter 54: Family and Fun

Santana's POV

*Monday 13th November 2023*

My mom and dad have a day off work today so they offered to look after Jaxon and Xavier for the day. Brittany and I thought it was a great idea because my parents wanted to spend quality time with their grandchildren anyway and it meant both Brittany and I could get a full day's work done. I mean we do normally get a chance to both work on the same day but that usually means Jessica has to do childcare for the day which means she can't help us with the business. Today though I can actually work with my wife and have Jessica's help which means it's likely going to be a more productive day. Also, Carly is going to help us with some admin work which is great because we need all the help we can get with Christmas coming up next month.

"Are we all ready to go to work?" I ask my wife, sister and Jessica.

"Yes, we are" Brittany nods.

"I assume you're riding with Jess, Carly?" I ask my sister.

"I am" Carly nods.

"Ok well Britt and I will see you both soon" I say as we all leave the house.

"Actually, I was going to ride with Jess and Carly" Brittany tells me.

"No, you weren't" I shake my head.

"I am so the 3 of us will see you soon" Brittany says as she walks over to Jessica's car with them.

"Brittany, just get back over here and get in my car" I state. "I'm not sure why you're messing around right now but I kinda don't like it. I just want to go to work and do what we need to do" I add.

"Ok" Brittany smiles before walking back over to me.

"Let's go" I say as we get into the car and I drive off.

"Are you ok, today?" Brittany asks me.

"I'm fine, my patience is just wearing a little thin at the moment because I'm getting stressed so I'm not really in the mood for joking around" I reply.

"Ok, fair enough. I will be on my best serious behaviour from now on today" my wife smiles.

As soon as we get to the office, we get started work straight away. Brittany does what she needs to do for her fashion line while I do what I need to do. I'm currently just in my office alone. Brittany disappeared when I went to the bathroom so I'm just waiting on her returning to the office and then hopefully we could get lunch together.

"Hey" Brittany says as she enters the office 5 minutes later.

"Where have you been?" I ask, not returning the greeting.

"I was talking to the sales team about a few things" she tells me. "You sound pissed, are you ok?" she asks.

"Yeah, I am a little pissed" I nod. "You didn't tell me where you were going or that you were leaving the office. I came back from the bathroom and you had just disappeared."

"I'm sorry, I didn't think it was a big deal to leave for 5 minutes. It's not like I left the building or anything, I just walked along the hallway to talk to someone. We do work on separate fashion lines so sometimes I do need to talk to different people from you and I don't always see the need to tell you what I'm working on when it doesn't affect you" Brittany explains.

"I get it but we've been together a lot recently so it's weird when I don't know where you are so from now on, tell me when you're disappearing" I say.

"Yes, boss" Brittany smiles.

"I'm thinking it's about time for lunch now" I tell her as I leave my desk.

"Sounds good, what will I get us?" Brittany asks me.

"A sandwich is fine for me" I reply.

"Ok, I get that sorted out right now. I'll be back in 5 minutes" Brittany smiles before leaving the office.

Once Brittany comes back to the office, we sit down and eat lunch together. We then call my parents and check in with them, making sure our children are ok. Jaxon spoke to us on the phone for a minute which was so cute but we couldn't really talk to Xavier since he's so young and can't talk yet. It was ok though because my mom and dad assured us that both children were great and were about to take their afternoon nap.

"Back to work now, I guess" Brittany says.

"Actually, I'm going to the bathroom first" I say as I stand up from my seat.

"Again?" Brittany asks confused.

"Yeah, I've drank so much water today" I nod. "I'll be back in a minute" I tell my wife.

"Ok" Brittany smiles at me.

As soon as I finish in the bathroom, I take a detour to the staffroom instead of going back to my office. I could really use a caffeine fix right now so I'm making Brittany and I some coffee to drink. As soon as it's made, I make my way back to my office.

"I brought you some coffee" I say while sitting the cup down on Brittany's desk.

"You did?" Brittany says surprised.

"Yeah, I did" I nod.

"Is there really coffee in this cup?" she asks me, looking at me sceptically.

"Yes, of course. What else would be in the cup?" I laugh.

"I don't know. You very rarely bring me coffee so I'm just wondering if this is some sort of practical joke and it's not coffee in the cup" Brittany explains.

"It is coffee, see" I say as I take a sip from her cup to show her it's drinkable.

"Lovely, my coffee now contains someone else's saliva" she teases me.

"I wouldn't say that but to be honest even if it did, it's just my DNA. You and I have traded a lot worse I am sure so a sip of coffee is nothing" I shrug.

"Fair point" Brittany laughs.

"Anyway, I need to get back to work so drink your coffee before it's cold" I tell her.

"Ok" Brittany smiles at me.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

*Wednesday 15th November 2023*

Brittany and I are having a day off from work today and spending it with the kids. We haven't really got anything planned as of yet so we'll just see how the day goes. Jaxon and Xavier are taking their morning nap right now so Brittany, Carly and me have been hanging out in the kitchen together. I'm thinking I might use this child free time to do something productive and get myself ready for the day without any interruptions.

"I'm going to take a shower now" I tell my wife and sister.

"Shall I join you?" Brittny asks teasingly.

"No, you shall not" I laugh. "The boys will be awake again soon so you'll need to take care of them while I'm in the shower" I add.

"It was worth a shot I guess" Brittany shrugs.

"It wasn't exactly worth it for me because I have that image in my head now" Carly says in disgust.

"Sorry, I couldn't help myself" Brittany laughs.

"Anyway, I am going to shower alone now" I say.

"Ok" Brittany smiles.

As soon as I get upstairs, I go to the master bathroom and start the shower. I like it to be nice and hot before I step inside. I then strip off all of my clothes and enter the shower. It really doesn't take me long at all to shower, so I'm finished and getting out before I know. I'm just drying myself off when I hear talking coming from the bedroom.

"Mommy is in the shower right now but as soon as she's finished, we'll play together" I hear Brittany say.

Once I've somewhat towel dried my hair and I'm fully dressed I'm ready to leave the bathroom. When I walk out Brittany is sitting on the bed with Xavier sitting on her lap as Jaxon sits next to them. Brittany is talking to our two kids and it's honestly such a sweet sight. Xavier looks so peaceful in Brittany's arms and Jaxon is so cute trying to hold a conversation with his mommy.

"Hey" I say as I take a seat on the edge of the bed, scooping Jaxon up in my arms to sit on my lap.

"Hi" Brittany smiles.

"What are you 3 up too?" I ask.

"We're waiting for you because we want to play together. Jaxon thought we could all play with his toys for a little while" Brittany says.

"Sounds like fun" I say as I kiss Jaxon's head. "What toys are we going to play with?" I ask my son.

"Trains" Jaxon says, giving me a big smile.

"Shall we go to your bedroom and set up your little train track?" I ask my son.

"Yes" Jaxon says excitedly.

"Ok, let's go" I say and the 4 of us head to Jaxon's bedroom.

"Jessica and Carly are going out for a while so it's just going to be us for the afternoon" Brittany says.

"Cool" I smile.

"Your sister seems in better spirits now, doesn't she" Brittany says as we start setting up the train track.

"She really does. I think this is exactly what she needed, to be with family" I smile.

"Yeah, I do too" Brittany smiles back.

After playing with the kids for a while, it was time for lunch so we all headed downstairs. Brittany gave Xavier his bottle of milk while I made lunch for myself, Jaxon and Brittany. The three of us are sitting down to eat it now while Brittany cradles Xavier in her arms when Carly walks into the kitchen. She is all dressed and ready to head out for the day.

"I'm leaving now, I'll see you when I get back" Carly says.

"Ok" I smile.

"Have fun" Brittany adds.

"I will" Carly smiles. She says goodbye to her nephews and then leaves the house.

"Just the four of us now" Brittany says.

"That's right" I smile.

XXX

The kids went to sleep right on time tonight so Brittany and I are just getting ready for a relaxing night together. We're going to get changed into our pajamas and hang out on the sofa together, maybe watching a movie. It's one of my favourite parts of the day hanging out with my wife, not worrying about work or any other stresses I have so I'm looking forward to tonight.

"Um…why are you staring at me?" Brittany asks, nervously laughing as she changes into her pajamas.

"Just because I want to" I smile.

"Why?" she asks.

"Because I find you insanely hot, like I'm so attracted to you right now" I tell her.

"Ok…well stop" Brittany says embarrassed.

"Are you starting to blush?" I ask amused.

"Yeah, because I don't always take compliments well and you know this" she states.

"I'm sorry, I just can't help how much I love you" I smile.

"It's ok" Brittany says as she walks over and hugs me.

As soon as we are both changed for the night, we head downstairs. Brittany sets up a movie in the living room and we relax together on the couch to watch it. It's getting deep into the plot of the movie now but my concentration is going. I just can't seem to focus on it anymore because my mind is too preoccupied and I'm getting lost in my thoughts. It's been a while now since I heard from my sister so I'm starting to get a little worried.

"Do you think I should call her?" I ask.

"Who?" Brittany asks, looking at me confused.

"My sister" I reply.

"Oh. Um…why do you want to call her?" she asks, still looking at me confused.

"Because she hasn't come home yet and I'm getting a little worried" I tell her.

"She's spending the day with her girlfriend so I'm sure everything is fine. It's not like she's out on the streets alone or something. They've probably went back to Jess's place or something" Brittany says.

"They don't really hang out at Jess's place much at the moment. Plus, it's been quite a number of hours since we last saw Carly" I say.

"I think it'll be fine" Brittany shrugs.

"I'm going to call her" I state as I sit up and pull out my phone.

"Honey, wait a second. She might not want to be interrupted right now" Brittany points out.

"I don't care, I'm going to call her" I say.

"Actually, no need. Someone has just pulled up outside" Brittany says as she looks out of the window.

"It better be Carly" I say.

"I think it is" Brittany says and a minute or so later Carly comes through the door.

"Where have you been?" I ask sharply.

"Hanging out with Jessica" Carly replies, glaring slightly at my tone.

"Did you misplace your phone?" I ask my sister.

"No" Carly says confused.

"Do you have your phone on your person?" I ask.

"Yes" Carly nods.

"Does it have a low battery?" I ask.

"No" Carly states.

"Is it switched on?" I ask.

"Yes" Carly replies. "Santana, what is going on and why are you asking me all these questions?"

"She's trying to ask why you didn't call to say where you were without actually asking you" Brittany sighs.

"I don't understand why you couldn't just come out with that then instead of being smart, asking questions about my phone" Carly says unimpressed.

"Ok, fine" I nod. "Why didn't you call me to say where you were?" I ask straight out.

"Because it's none of your business" Carly shrugs at me.

"It is my business when I have been at home worried sick about you. You are living here right now so I expect you to keep me updated about where you are and why you aren't coming home yet" I tell my sister.

"Ok, firstly, I'm a grownup so you don't need to know my whereabouts every minute or the day; secondly, you knew I was with my girlfriend so there was no reason to panic and thirdly; you said if I moved in here then you wouldn't act like mom and dad. Right now you are acting like mom and dad so stop it" Carly states.

"Let's all just move on because Carly is home now so everything is fine" Brittany says. "There is no reason to panic or worry anymore" she adds.

"Exactly" Carly states. "Now, I'm going to the bathroom. I'll be back in a second" she says before leaving the room.

"We don't need to be all about her business so let's just let Carly do as she pleases" Brittany says to me.

"No, I can't agree to do that" I shake my head.

"Santana, everything is fine so let's give Carly some space" Brittany replies.

"You were the one that said you were worried about Carly in the first place and now you don't seem to be that bothered by anything. You told me I should be worried about her and now that I am, you don't seem to feel the same" I state.

"Let's not fight right now" Brittany sighs.

"No, let's" I say. "You started this Brittany and I'm kinda pissed at you" I add.

"Are you telling me if I didn't come to you that day and say I was worried about your sister then you would feel better right now because you would be none the wiser. You would be able to get on with your life and not have to worry about your sister because you didn't know any different" she questions.

"Not exactly" I sigh.

"I know ignorance is bliss and all that but I had to say something Santana. There was no way I could have pretended everything was fine just to spare you this right now. Everything was not fine. Carly was not fine and I don't think she is fine right now either" Brittany says.

"Stop putting words in my mouth and let me explain what I mean" I state.

"Ok, I'm sorry" Brittany replies.

"I'm just worried about her and I'd like it if you could be on my side and support me on this" I state. "Aren't you still concerned about things?" I ask.

"I do believe Carly is starting to feel more like herself again but she's not fully there yet. I also believe that she won't get better if we're constantly on top of her. We said when she came to live with us that we would give her space but asking her where she is all the time isn't giving her space" Brittany points out.

"I don't think that I am constantly on her case all the time and I do give her space" I say defensively. "I would however say, you're giving her too much space that you don't see what a big deal this still is" I add.

"I'm going to bed now because I'm not in the mood to fight anymore" Brittany states as Carly walks back into the room.

"But the movie isn't done yet" I point out.

"I know but I'm done" Brittany shrugs.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, glaring slightly.

"As I said, I'm not in the mood to fight and I don't think I can concentrate on the movie anyway so I might as well just go upstairs to bed" she tells me.

"Fine" I sigh.

"Goodnight, Carly" Brittany says as she heads for the door.

"Goodnight, Brittany" my sister replies.

"I'll see you upstairs when you come to bed" Brittany says to me before leaving the room.

"Is this my fault that you're fighting?" Carly asks me.

"No, it's not. Don't worry" I assure my sister. "Sometimes we just don't agree on things and I don't like that. You know me, if it's not my way then I don't want to know" I add.

"I feel like I did bring the argument on" Carly says.

"Honestly, you didn't so don't worry about it" I smile.

"Ok" Carly nods.

"Do you know what, I think I might just go upstairs to bed as well. I'm not going to be able to settle tonight until I clear things up with Britt" I say.

"I know what you mean. It's never great going to bed on an argument so it's better to work things out before you do" Carly says.

"Yeah, exactly" I nod. "I'll see you in the morning, goodnight" I smile at my sister.

"Goodnight" Carly says, smiling back.

As soon as I get upstairs, I don't go to my bedroom right away. I go to Jaxon's room and check on him before quietly leaving and going to Xavier's room. Once I'm satisfied that both children seem settled for the night, I then make my way to my own bedroom. I quietly walk inside because I'm not sure whether Brittany has gone to bed to sleep or just to lie down.

"Hey" I say as I see my wife awake.

"Hi" Brittany replies quietly, as she looks over at me from the bed.

"I hate when we argue" I tell her as I take a seat at the bottom of the bed.

"I do too" Brittany agrees.

"I also don't like it when you don't agree with me" I point out.

"I know" Brittany nods.

"If you know then why do you do it?" I ask.

"Are you serious right now?" she asks me annoyed.

"Yeah" I shrug.

"As much as I know you don't like me disagreeing with you and as much as it makes us argue, I can't lie just to keep the peace. I can't agree with you just to make you happy. I am intitled to my own opinion and I should get to express that to my wife" Brittany explains. "I mean I could ask you the same thing really. When I say something you disagree with then why don't you change your opinion and agree with me to stop us from arguing?" she asks.

"Because I'm right" I state.

"I love you but you're pissing me off right now" Brittany sighs.

"In case it isn't obvious, you're pissing me off too" I reply.

"Santana, we said when we first got together that our relationship at home would be handled different from our relationship at work. I am completely ok with doing everything your way at work and I respect what you say must go since you're my boss but let me repeat myself, that does not apply at home. At home we are both allowed to have an equal take on things and we are equal partners" Brittany states.

"Fine" I sigh.

"Let's just agree to disagree on the matter because I want to go to sleep now and I'm not going to sleep if we're still fighting" Brittany says.

"To be honest, I don't even know what we're agreeing and disagreeing on anymore" I sigh again. We got so caught up arguing that I can't remember where it all started now.

"Let's just move on then" she tells me.

"Ok" I nod as I move and get into bed next to my wife.

"You know I love you" Brittany says as she wraps her arms around me.

"It was never in doubt" I smile. As much as we argue sometimes, I know Brittany loves me so much and I would hope she knows I love her too.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

*Saturday 18th November 2023*

Brittany and I have had some errands to run today and have dropped by the office to work on a few things so our children have been spending the day with Carly and Jessica. We're now thinking about calling it a day and heading home. I really miss my kids and honestly, who wants to work on a Saturday anyway? I just want to spend the rest of my day with my wife and kids, doing some fun things and spending some quality time together.

"I'm ready to go home whenever you are" I tell my wife.

"Yeah, I'm ready to go too" Brittany smiles as she grabs her purse.

We make our way out of work and head out to Brittany's car. We get inside and then I drive off, speeding along the road. It really doesn't take us long to arrive back home so we're heading inside in no time. We're glad to be home now but it has been a bit anticlimactic because the kids are napping so we rushed home to see them only for them to be asleep. I'm sure we'll get our quality time with them later on.

"So how are things?" Brittany asks my sister.

"Good, the kids were well behaved so it's been a nice day spending it with my nephews" Carly replies.

"That's good" Brittany smiles.

"I actually have a gift for you both" Carly states.

"Ok" I say excitedly. I love gifts and my sister knows that so this should be good.

"Here you both are" Carly says as she hands us a very large square item with gift wrapping on it.

"Carly, it's huge. What is it?" Brittany asks curiously.

"Open it and find out" Carly smiles.

"It looks and feels like some sort of wall mounting like a large picture or something" I point out as I look at the size and shape of the item.

"Guys, just open it" Carly says desperately.

"Ok, we will" I laugh.

"I'll pull the paper off this side and you do that side" Brittany says as we begin unwrapping the item together. After a few moments, it's revealed to be a large photograph we could mount to the wall.

"Wow…that really is a beautiful photo of my children" I say. "I am actually surprised they're sitting so calmly" I tell her. A baby and a one-year-old aren't always the definition of patience.

"They were great and they seemed to love getting their photos taken" Carly smiles.

"Who took them?" I ask.

"I did" Carly smiles.

"I know you took the kids to get the photos taken but I meant who was the photographer who took pictures of my kids?" I clarify.

"Me. I took the photographs right here in the living room" Carly replies.

"Are you serious?" I ask surprised.

"Yeah" Carly nods. "I put some screens up and adjusted the lighting and took the photos right here in this room" she adds.

"Some of these photos look really professional. I thought you took the kids to a professional photographer or something" I point out.

"Nope, it's all me" Carly smiles.

"I think we may have just found your next career move" Brittany smirks.

"I don't think so" Carly laughs. "Taking a few photographs of my nephews doesn't make me a photographer."

"I actually think Britt might be onto something here. Why shouldn't you do something like this because you have always enjoyed photography" I state.

"Yeah, but I don't have nearly enough experience to make it a career. It's a hobby" Carly shrugs.

"Why don't you take some college classes then?" Brittany suggests.

"Me and school didn't go well together so I hardly think me attending college would work any better" Carly states.

"I know some businesses might require applicants to have experience but you wouldn't need to take college classes if you did this photography thing yourself. Why don't you start off small and build up your own business. Your work speaks for itself so I think you could make it on your own as a photographer" I tell her.

"I don't know the first thing about having my own business" Carly shakes her head.

"Luckily your sister is an expert and your girlfriend has a business degree" I smirk.

"Yeah, if you want to know a successful businesswoman then look no further than your sister" Brittany says to Carly, turning to smile at me.

"You guys are out of your mind. Taking a few pictures of my nephews is not nearly enough to go on to start my own business" Carly states.

"Why don't you build up your portfolio and do the photography for the next photoshoot at BP Sportswear?" Jessica suggests.

"Brittany and Santana already have a photographer for their photoshoots who works for them" Carly says in confusion.

"I know but we haven't hired him yet for the next shoot" Jessica shrugs.

"That is true" I say as I ponder the thought.

"I think it's a good idea so what do you say Carly?" Brittany says.

"I mean it would be good to try something new but be warned, this might not turn out as well as your previous photoshoots" Carly says.

"I'm sure it's going to be fine" Brittany smiles.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

*Thursday 23rd November 2023*

Brittany and I are hosting thanksgiving dinner at our house this year so the whole family is coming over. We don't normally host it, usually we'll go to one of our parents houses and spend it there with the family but we decided we should maybe take a turn so we're doing it this year. Also, we're doing it for slightly selfish reasons. We have two young children so it's easier for us to stay at home and have a family dinner rather than try and get the kids ready and take all of their hundreds of necessities to someone else's house.

Our family aren't coming over for another couple of hours yet so I think I want to spend some time with my wife and children, and also my sister since she's still living with us. Right now, I'm just making a few food preparations for later while Brittany is taking care of the kids in the living room. Once I'm finished the preparations, I'll join my family in the living room.

"Hey, what are we all up to?" I ask as I walk into the room.

"We're just hanging out" Brittany smiles.

"I might actually go for a shower now before Jessica comes over" Carly says.

"That's cool" I smile at my sister.

"I won't be long" Carly says before exiting the room.

"What are you most thankful for?" I ask my wife as I join her on the floor, playing with the kids.

"You" she smiles softly at me.

"That's sweet" I smile back.

"I mean of course I'm thankful for Jaxon and Xavier too but it all starts with you because without you I wouldn't have my beautiful children" she explains.

"I get that" I nod.

"I'm thankful for my other family too, don't get me wrong" Brittany adds.

"Yeah, I would say I am right there on the same page as you. I am thankful to all of my family especially you and our wonderful children" I tell her.

"Come here" Brittany smiles so I move closer and she kisses me.

"I love you" I smile.

"I love you too" Brittany replies.

After spending a while more with my wife and children, it was time to go back to the food preparations. By the time that was all underway, all of our guests started arriving so we've been multitasking ever since. We're cooking, entertaining guests and more importantly fulfilling our mom duties. Brittany and I have barely had a minute to breathe this afternoon so we were so grateful when some of our family decided to help us with the cooking.

"We need to get all of this food served now before it gets cold" I state, a slight hint of panic in my tone since I'm starting to get stressed.

"I know and we will so don't worry" Brittany assures me, noticing the worry in my voice.

"There's just a lot of mouths to feed today so a lot of plating up food and everything" I say as I start hurriedly getting things together.

"I know but we'll get there and everyone will understand anyway. If they don't, I'll kick their ass because you have worked your butt off today to make a nice meal for the whole family so they better appreciate the effort" Brittany says.

"Thanks" I smile.

XXX

After a wonderful dinner together, we all stayed around the table and chatted for a while, letting our food digest. Brittany and I will take care of the clearing up later so we're not too worried about that right now. I'm now thinking that since everyone has had enough time to rest then we can kick things up a notch and have some fun. This is one of the few times we have all of our family together so I want to make the most of it.

"I think it's time for some games" I state.

"What kind of games?" Brittany asks curiously.

"I was going to say football but that's maybe too aggressive for some people here so how about soccer?" I suggest. Some of my family don't like it when we play football so we'll go with soccer instead. Plus, we have some little soccer nets and a ball anyway that my brother bought for Jaxon one time so we've got the equipment.

"Sounds good" Brittany smiles. "I think we all better make our way outside then" she adds.

"Yeah" I say as we all start going outside.

"I think the grandparents are going to sit this one out" my mom says.

"Yeah, our days running around are behind us so we'll just watch for the side-lines and cheer everyone on" my grandpa says.

"Ok" I nod.

"I think I might also sit this one out because Xavier is too young to play anyway so they'll be an odd number so I'll referee instead and Xavier can help me" my mom says.

"Are you sure mom because maybe Carly could be the referee with Xavier?" I ask my mom.

"Why do you want me to referee Santana?" Carly asks me sceptically.

"It's probably because she sees you as a threat since you're so good so she doesn't want to play against you" Brittany shrugs.

"No that's definitely not it" I laugh. "It's because she's crap so I don't want to run the risk of being in the same team as her" I shrug.

"Santana, that's not a nice thing to say about your sister" my mom says shaking her head at me.

"She's kinda right Maribel, Carly isn't the strongest sports player" my dad states.

"You two are as bad as each other" my mom tells us.

"I might not play sports that much but it doesn't mean I am completely useless" Carly says, defending herself.

"Yeah, I'm sure you'll be great Carly" Brittany smiles.

"I am one of the team captains so who wants to be the other one?" I ask everyone.

"I'll do it" my dad says eagerly. "It's the only way to make this game fair because we all know what Santana is like at games. Also, this way I know for certainty that I don't need to be on her team" he adds.

"Thanks dad" I say sarcastically while glaring at my dad. Everyone should want to be on my team because I am a born leader.

"Ok Carlos, you pick first" my mom says.

"Um…why him?" I ask while throwing my hands up in the air. "I captained up first so I should have first pick" I state.

"No reason, your dad just caught my eye first so I said his name" my mom shrugs.

"My wife has spoken so I will pick first" my dad smiles. "My first pick will be Jaxon" he adds.

"No, it will not. Try again" I say while shaking my head. No one is picking my son before me.

"Yes, it will. I was told to pick first so I have" my dad shrugs. "Jaxon, come onto the winning team buddy" he says as he lifts Jaxon up.

"This can't be happening, it's not fair" I sigh.

"Santana stop making a drama out of everything. Just accept that Jaxon has been picked and take your turn now to pick a teammate because we're all getting inpatient waiting on you" my brother says.

"I just can't accept Jaxon not being on my team" I say.

"Do you want me to pick someone else then?" my dad asks while rolling his eyes in annoyance.

"Yes, I do. I just said that" I state.

"Fine, you can have Jaxon and I will take Brittany" my dad replies, smirking at me.

"Nah-ah, not happening either" I say seriously.

"Do you know, I don't want to play anymore if this is what is going to happen" Marco states. "The teams can't even be picked so what chance do we have in being able to actually play. If team captains can't follow a simple instruction to pick their teammates, then how can they lead a team to win the game" he adds.

"Honey, just leave Jaxon in your dad's team and let's get the teams picked and the game started" Brittany tells me.

"Fine" I sigh. I'm not happy but I will move on. "Jaxon is on Carlos's team and Britt you're my first pick" I say as I pull my wife close to me.

"Ok" Brittany says excitedly. "I love being on your team" she says as she kisses my cheek.

"My next pick will be Zoe since my grandson has informed me that cousins must stick together" my dad says as he picks Brittany's sister Grace's daughter.

"Ok well I pick Ben then because you're not getting all of the youngsters" I tell my dad as I pick my nephew, Brittany's sister Haley's son.

"I will pick my son next so Marco, come and join us son" my dad says, picking his next teammate.

"My next pick will be Alison" I say as I choose my mother-in-law.

"Nice choice because my mom is super competitive so she'll want to win" Brittany says.

"My next choice is David" my dad says, picking Brittany's dad.

"Who shall we go with next?" I ask my wife.

"Ben seems quite eager to have his mom on his team so go with my sister Haley" Brittany says.

"I can go with that" I smile.

"Going with the same kind of thinking since we have Zoe on the team then we'll pick Grace" my dad says, picking Brittany's other sister.

"Ok" I nod. "Do you think Jess next?" I whisper to my wife as we look at the remaining people.

"Yeah, I'm happy with that" Brittany smiles.

"Ok, Jessica for us please" I say.

"Dad, pick Laura next" my brother says, wanting his girlfriend on his team.

"Ok, Laura is our next pick" my dad says.

"Ok, 3 left to choose from so which is the better of the 3?" I ask my team as we're left to pick from Brittany's two brother in laws, Justin and Lewis or…my sister.

"Personally, I would prefer my husband" Haley replies.

"Ok, Justin it's you" I say.

"Lewis it is then for me" my dad states.

"Jeez, thanks dad" I say while rolling my eyes. "I have no option now but to pick my sister" I sigh.

"You are so rude sometimes" Carly says while glaring at me.

"Carly, you're just horrible at sports" I tell her.

"Have you ever thought that maybe I am good at sports but I just don't play well when I'm on your team because you're such a bitch" Carly asks me.

"To be fair, Carly is probably going to be better than my sister, no offence Hales" Brittany points out.

"None taken because it's true" Haley smiles.

"She won't have the same bad attitude hanging around though as Carly. That attitude is probably going to lose us a few points" I state.

"Whatever, Santana" Carly says while rolling her eyes at me.

"Ok everyone, the teams are all set so shall we get started?" my dad asks.

"Yeah" I say.

"Remember everyone, this is just a friendly game so let's take things easy. We're not playing actual soccer here. We're just playing a more basic game of soccer where you can score goals" my mom states.

"Nah, I'm playing real soccer" I shrug.

"Honey, your mom is probably right. We've got some young children playing the game with us so let's take it easy. We don't want to be too aggressive in case someone gets hurt" Brittany says.

"Maybe you're right" I smile at my wife. I would never forgive myself if Jaxon or my niece and nephew got hurt tonight because the adults were too serious so we will tone things down somewhat.

"Ok, we're all agreed to play nicely so let's start" Brittany says.

"Hold on a second, team huddles first" I say as I gather my team together. "We need to quickly discuss the game plan first" I add.

"Ok that's fine but let's not take too long because some people are getting inpatient" my mom says.

"Ok, team. My dad is going to take this as seriously as me so you guys leave him to me and I'll deal with him. Just you all focus on getting the ball past everyone else and get it to me" I say.

"Who's the keeper?" Brittany asks.

"You're definitely a keeper, babe" I smirk at my wife.

"Thanks" Brittany smiles as she kisses my cheek. "Seriously though, who is tending the goal?" she asks.

"Well, I mean you are very athletic so you could do it but I kinda want you up front with me" I tell my wife.

"How about Justin, he's the tallest here and quite athletic too" Brittany suggests.

"Ok, Justin is our keeper. The rest of you can spread out between defence and midfield while Britt and I will be up top scoring the goals" I say.

"Are we all ready now?" my mom asks.

"Yes, we're ready to go" I nod.

"Carlos, is your team ready too?" my mom asks.

"Yeah, we're all set" my dad replies.

"Ok" my mom states. "Santana your team can kick us off this half and then your dad's team the second half" she adds.

"Ok" I say before taking the ball and sitting it on the ground.

"On the count of three, you can start" my mom says. "One, two, three…"

The minute I heard my mom say three I kicked the ball to Brittany who then started running with the ball. I saw my brother charging towards her so I shouted for her to pass to me which she of course did. I then took the ball along the grass and scored against my dad's team, the ball flying into the back of the net. I mean business tonight and by the look on the oppositions face, they can now see that too.

"Well done, babe" Brittany says as she hugs me.

"Thanks" I smile.

"Ok, Carlos it's your team to kick off from the centre" my mom says.

"Ok" my dad says before kicking the ball and we get started the game again.

My dad has just taken the ball from my sister now so Brittany and I are running back towards the midfield to try and get the ball. I'm just about on him when my dad passes the ball to Jaxon. Jaxon then lifts the ball up and runs with it. You can't exactly do that in soccer but he's only one so we're letting that slide. Jaxon only gets a little bit in front when he accidentally drops the ball, causing it to roll towards me. I then quickly take it and make my way back to the other end of the garden. I see my dad hot on my heels so I quickly pass the ball to Brittany.

"I'm sorry guys, I have to" Brittany says before passing the ball to Jaxon.

"Are you serious babe, he's on the opposite team?" I ask.

"I know but he's my son and he's so cute. Plus, I feel bad when he dropped it two seconds ago" Brittany shrugs.

"I get that but he's playing against us right now" I say before running over to Jaxon and gently taking the ball.

"I cannot believe you just did that, Santana" Carly says amused. "Taking the ball away from not only a one-year-old but from your own son" she laughs.

"Yeah-yeah, I'm a bad mom" I shrug before dribbling the ball and taking a shot at scoring. "He'll understand because he's competitive like me so he knows it's not personal" I add.

"That is true because he looks rather amused" Brittany says as Jaxon chases me.

"Is mommy going to score?" I ask my son.

"Yeah" Jaxon laughs.

"That's right" I say before shooting and scoring.

"Yeah, mommy!" Jaxon says excitedly.

"You're on my team buddy so we don't want mommy to score" my dad says laughing.

"Well done" Brittany smiles at me.

"Thanks" I say as I leap into my wife's arms.

"Come on, let's get back to the game" Marco says annoyed.

We start the game again and it's quite competitive for a while. Each team scored again courtesy of my wife and Jaxon. I loved that Brittany scored for our team and although I should be mad that the other team scored too, I'm not too pissed. It was Jaxon that scored which was great so I couldn't really hide my pride at that and my team was still winning so it was fine. In the end, my team was victorious so it was win-win for me.

XXX

The boys are both in bed asleep now and everyone else has went home with the exception of Carly and Jessica. Brittany and I are now in our bedroom getting ready to go to bed. It's been a nice day but very tiring so we're glad its finally bedtime and we can just get organised and slip under the covers.

"It was fun having all of the family together, today" Brittany says.

"Yeah, it really was" I smile. "I'm kinda glad it's over now though because I'm ready to go to bed and just relax" I add.

"I am too" Brittany says as we get under the covers together.

"I'm ready to spend the last part of tonight with you" I smile.

"You know what, I'm not really tired tonight" Brittany says as she pulls me closer to her.

"Are you not?" I ask interestingly.

"Yeah, not tired at all" she adds as she slips her hand under my pajama top and caresses the skin underneath.

"Did you have something in mind that you wanted to do since you weren't tired?" I ask my wife.

"Yeah, I do have a few things in mind" Brittany says as she begins kissing my neck.

"Since it's thanksgiving and everything, are you going to show me just how thankful you are to have me in your life?" I ask teasingly.

"Something like that" Brittany mutters in between kisses.

"Good" I say.

Brittany pulls me even closer to her and kisses me. We continue kissing for a moment or so before Brittany pulls away slightly. She smiles at me before turning slightly and then begins kissing down my neck. The minute I feel her touch my neck; I can't help but moan. Brittany kissing me like that just does things to me.

"We have to be quiet" I say in between moans.

"Tell that to yourself" Brittany teases me.

"I know but I can't help it. I'm just saying though, when we can then we need to keep quiet" I say.

"Ok" Brittany smiles before leaning back in to kiss me.

That's it for the chapter, let me know what you think. I'll probably update again this week and post the next chapter before Christmas.
