There is a girl named Martha. Until she was seven years old, she had a great faithful life. She lived peacefully with her mother and father in New York. It was a perfect life, they had each other and their dreams. They had everything as well. Then one day, while Martha and her parents were on their way home from a church festival, there a terrible thing happened.
A strange turn caused the car to be crashed and killing Martha's beloved mother and father. Their troubles, if they have any at first, were over and at least it was quick. They were dead and gone in eighteen seconds flat. Martha on the other hand was still very much alive and alone in a lonely world.
Martha's life was about to get worse, she was sent away to live with her step uncles. Their names were Dennis and Sheldon, and I"m sorry to say it, but they're both really nasty people.
They treated her like a slave and they beat her up for no good reason as all. They made her wear rags and forced her not to say a word. Sheldon is the one who told Martha that girls like her should be seen and not heard to any adult. She can only say a word, but quietly.
After Martha lived with her step uncles for three years, she decided to run away. She has to find out when though. She then was told by Dennis that he and Sheldon are going out for the night and won't be back till morning.
