Dean hadn't slept a lot last night. Mostly he had stayed awake to watch Jaya sleep. She had cried all the way back to his house. Once inside his home, she had cuddled up against him and apologized over and over for calling him an experiment. He had of course forgiven her. Just before she fell asleep, she said the most beautiful words he had ever heard.
"I do love you, Dean. I have for a very long time."
He was currently sitting at his kitchen table with a cup of coffee. He had given up on sleeping. He was halfway through the cup when he heard noises. He looked up and saw her standing in the open door.
"Coffee?" She asked.
"Help yourself," he said.
She poured herself a cup and then sat down on the chair next to him.
"You have a lovely bed," she said.
He cracked a smile and leaned in to place a kiss on her shoulder.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"I'm better than yesterday," she said. "What are the dirt sheets saying about us?"
"I haven't checked," he said.
"Sometimes I forget you don't care about the world around us," she giggled. "Where's your phone?"
"I'll get it," he said.
He walked out of the kitchen and found his phone still in the bag that he had left on the floor last night. He returned to the kitchen with the phone in his hand. He opened twitter and was hit with tweet after tweet.
"What the fuck?" He asked.
"What is it?" She asked.
He opened an article and showed it to her.
JAYA MCMAHON INSTITUTIONALIZED AFTER MENTAL BREAKDOWN DURING LIVE EVENT
Her jaw dropped and she stared at him.
"Guess that's their angle. Make it look like you broke down and need some help. That way no one will believe you if you say anything bad about Seth or Vince. It also gives them time to track you down, bring you home, and force you to agree with whatever they say," he said.
"They can't do that," she said. "They can't fucking do that to me, Dean!"
"Easy," he said. "Soon enough people will start investigating and come up with nothing. Their plan only works if they get their hands on you before you react. If you want, we can even tweet a freaking selfie from this kitchen table to prove them wrong."
"Then people will know about us," she said.
"I think most people got the hint when I fucking carried you out of there last night and ran off with you," he chuckled. "Your call, angel. We'll do what you wanna do."
They were interrupted by knocking on the front door. They looked at each other and he shrugged. He wasn't expecting anyone. He got up to open and she followed behind. There were two police officers standing outside.
"Dean Ambrose?" One of them asked.
"Yes," Dean said.
"We got a report on a kidnapping. Do you by any chance have Jaya McMahon in there?" The officer asked.
"I'm not fucking kidnapped!" Jaya yelled.
Jaya walked over to Dean and took his hand.
"I came here because I wanted to. I haven't been kidnapped," Jaya said. "And my last name isn't McMahon. It's Belgin. Jaya Belgin. I never changed my last name but only told Vince I did. His ego was big enough to believe he got that victory."
"We need you to come down to the station to verify that," the officer said.
"No," Jaya said. "This is a trap by Vince. He will be there waiting and force me into his car. I'm not going anywhere without Dean and a lawyer."
The two officers looked at each other. Dean felt uneasy. It felt like Jaya had been spot on.
"Listen here," the officer said.
The officer took a step forward but Dean got in his way.
"Do you have a warrant?" Dean asked.
"I'm just doing my job," the officer said.
"Warrant," Dean repeated. "I'll be calling my lawyer while you go get one. That is, if you can. It doesn't really feel like something you can get a warrant for, does it?"
"Dean Ambrose?" A voice asked.
The officers turned around and looked at a third man with an envelope in his hands.
"What the fuck is this circus?" Dean asked annoyed.
"I don't know," the man handed Dean the envelope. "Have a nice day."
"Whatever," Dean looked at the officers again. "Are we done here?"
"For now," the officer said.
Dean slammed the door and locked it. He opened the envelope and sighed. He looked over at Jaya and handed her the paperwork.
"I got fired," he said.
"Vince always works fast when he's angry," she said.
"It's okay. I don't need them," he said.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
He placed his hands on her cheeks and leaned down for a kiss.
"As long as I have you," he said. "You asked me once where my passion went. I don't know but you were right that it was gone. I lost it along the way. I stayed with them because I wanted to be near you. This actually feels like a good thing. My name is hot. Lots of companies will want to hire me."
"Give me your phone," she said.
He handed her his phone and she dialed Vince's number and put the phone on speaker. Vince picked up after two rings.
"Where is she?" Vince asked.
"I'm the one calling," Jaya said.
"Where should I send the car to pick you up?" Vince asked.
"Go fuck yourself," Jaya said.
Dean chuckled at her newfound confidence. Vince got quiet on his end. It took a lot to silence a man like Vince.
"I quit," Jaya said.
"I won't release you," Vince said.
"I'll sit out my contract. There's only 6 months left anyway. Plenty of time for me to settle into my new home and figure out what I wanna do," Jaya said.
Jaya looked at Dean who winked in return. He liked the sound of that. Her settling into his home. Their home.
"I know Seth is there," Jaya said. "Put the phone on speaker."
"I'm here," Seth said.
"I shouldn't have to say it but it gives me pleasure to do so," Jaya said. "I fucking hate your guts, Seth. You and Vince are both bad people who never gave a fuck about what I want. Deep inside you've always known I don't love you, Seth. I don't even fucking like you. I can't stand the sight of you. I was with you out of fear. Not out of love."
"Let's talk this over when you get to the station," Seth said.
"How fucking stupid can you be?" Dean asked. "She just dumped your sorry ass. Leave her the fuck alone."
"Leave us the fuck alone," Jaya corrected. "I'm done with both of you."
She hung up and blocked both of their numbers on Dean's phone. His phone started ringing 5 seconds later.
"What the fuck is it with everyone today?" He asked.
"It's Roman," she said.
"Answer it," he said.
She answered it and put it on speaker.
"Dean?" Roman asked.
"Right, I'm supposed to say something," Dean chuckled. "Sorry, man. It's been a crazy morning."
"Tell me all about it when I get there," Roman said.
"You're on your way here?" Dean asked.
"With breakfast and Jaya's bag," Roman said.
"You got my bag?" Jaya asked.
"Seth was running around looking for you last night so I snuck into your locker room and grabbed your bag. I figured you needed your phone and wallet," Roman said.
"All my personal papers are in there. I never keep them at home. I guess I always knew one day I would make a run for it," Jaya said.
"Anyway, see you in 30 minutes. Put on some coffee," Roman said.
"You got it," Dean said.
Jaya hung up and looked at Dean. They both started laughing at how absurd everything was.
"30 minutes," he said. "That gives us time for a quick shower."
"One thing first," she said.
She moved into his arms and held up his phone to film a video.
"Have you heard I got committed to a mental asylum after a breakdown last night?" She asked.
"Damn straight. You're in the Ambrose asylum," he chuckled.
"Uh, I hope it's a life sentence," she said.
He planted a kiss on her cheek and smirked at the camera.
"What else is new?" She asked.
"I got fired today," he said.
"Vince wouldn't let me go so I'm sitting out my contract. I'm done with Vince. I'm done with WWE. I'm where I want to be in my life with a good man who treats me right. It's not goodbye for good. Only for now. We will both be back at some point so keep your eyes open," she said.
She stopped the recording and posted the video on Twitter for everyone to see.
"Now the world knows I'm not in an institution but with you, and that we're both done with WWE. They can't do shit about it because the world knows the truth," she said.
"I fucking love you," he said.
"I fucking love you too," she said.
He chuckled and leaned down for a kiss.
"Shower," he said.
"Shower, breakfast, and inviting Roman to stay for the day," she said. "Do you think he would like to go shopping with us?"
"What do we need?" He asked.
"I need a whole new wardrobe. I'm not going near the house to try and get my clothes. I don't care about that shit. It's dead items. I'm a new woman and everything in that house is what Vince or Seth told me to wear. It's time I become me," she said.
"I love to hear it," he said.
He wrapped his arms around her and moved them both towards the bathroom.
"Too bad we don't got time to get really clean like that day in your hotel room," she said.
"Keep that thought for tomorrow when Roman's not here anymore," he said.
"What are you gonna do to me then?" She asked innocently.
"Anything you can imagine," he kissed her neck. "And most likely some things you've never imagined before but I promise you'll love every second."
She turned around in his arms and kissed him.
"Dean?" She asked.
"Yes?" He asked.
"It feels like my heart has been broken my entire life and it hasn't healed until this very moment," she said.
He broke out in a smile and got wet eyes. She looked concerned for a moment but he quickly pecked her lips.
"Happy tears," he said. "I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way."
