Chapter 2 : The box of memories
AN : Hello my lovelies and welcome back today we are taking a trip down Memory lane with the Rivera's so hope you enjoy.
It has officially been 3 weeks since crossing over the Marigold bridge to the land of the living and at first the rest of the living family were freaked out. But soon they warmed up to them being back alive and some tears were shared as they reunited. On This sunny Saturday morning they were sitting down and talking and telling stories.
"Mijo would you mind cleaning out the Attic today we've been planning on emptying it out?" Luisa asked
"Of course Mamá, Although someone may need to help some of the boxes are heavy". Miguel replies
"I don't mind helping Chamaco". Héctor volunteers
"Bueno". Luisa smiled
Once Grandson and grandfather finished their breakfast they went up and retrieved some of the boxes. It was pretty crowded so they had to move some boxes to fit in, It was filled with old toys and tapes as well as photos.
"It's pretty crowed in here, you sure she wants to lift all these boxes". Héctor asks
"Absolutely ". Miguel reassures
They got to moving the first 4 boxes labelled photos, then the next 8 labelled baby clothes and toys and the last 6 were old tapes and videos .
"I am honestly surprised we have this much stuff". Miguel nodded
" You and me both". Héctor replies
"Hey I am surprised no spiders got on us while we were carrying this stuff ". Miguel shock his shoulders
"SPIDERS WHERE!" All the blood drained from Hèctor's face as he was looking everywhere for the little things.
"Calmente Papà Héctor, there not going to hurt you besides none are here". Miguel reassures
"Good because I want no spiders coming near me". Héctor whispered and shook at the thought
"Really your still afraid ". Miguel laughs
"You don't know they can come out and bit you at anytime ". Héctor looked scared
At that moment Miguel decided to mess around and used his hand to act as a spiders legs and creep him out and Héctor smacked his hand away and shook it off.
"That's not funny Mijo". Héctor angers
"It worked and you should have seen your face". Miguel burst out laughing
When they finally walked down the latter they saw most of the family in the shoe shop or cleaning the house.
"Oh Gracias Mijo y Papà Héctor we need to sort out what's going to be donated ". Enrique said
"It's okay Papà, you should have seen Papà Héctor's face when I told him about the spiders he freaked out". Miguel laughs
Héctor looked embarrassingly at his grandson and then to his wife.
"Really Amor , you're still afraid ". Imelda smirked
"Si". Héctor blushed
"Ay Papà ". Coco put a hand to her forehead and laughed
Luisa and Elena went through the boxes and found Videos of the Family and Victoria's old baby dress.
"Oh I remember that old thing you looked so cute my love the day you were born". Coco cooed as she looked for the photo.
Victoria was very emotional and embarrassed as the family cooed over little Victoria. As the continued looking through the boxes they found Abel's first pair of shoes and Rosa's old fingers paintings, the twins old alphabet book. Héctor's heart was melting at all the old Memories and he was glad he gets to relive through the memories and see how his family had changed over the years.
"What's this?" Socorro piped up
Mamá Imelda looks in the file to see what it is and it turns out it's got Miguel's handwriting on it and it had a little note written on inside .
"Oh no we don't need to see that". Miguel rambles
Socorro looked at it with Mamá Imelda and her Prima Rosa and they were all shocked.
"Mijo What's this?" Imelda asked
Then Coco looks at the note and noticed it was one of Miguel's songs he had written down when his three. She was shook as she hadn't looked at it in years she then went over and hugged her grandson.
"It's the first song I ever wrote when I was three". Miguel explained
Héctor looked at the note and saw that it was torn a little bit and the paper had yellowed due to it being old.
"You really made this Chamaco?" Héctor whispered
"Si". He nodded
Socorro went over and hugged him tightly around his legs, Miguel lifted her up and cuddled her tightly.
"Que pasa?" He asked his sister
"I didn't know you wrote that". Socorro piped
"Si". Miguel nodded
"Look what it says on the inside". Coco pointed to the inscription on the inside
To My future sibling,
I know this song means a lot coming from me, but just know that I love you so and that you'll always be loved and have a special place in heart.

The rest of the family was shook and Luisa starts crying.
"I didn't know you wanted a sibling Mijo". Enrique questioned
"As much as I loved being the only child my three year old self really wanted a sibling to play with and looks like I got my wish". Miguel cuddled Socorro and tickled her.
"Miguel ". Socorro laughs
The family stood with hands over their hearts at the two and laughed.
"Miguel?" Socorro asked
"Si Chiquita?" He replies
"Promise me you'll make that our lullaby from now on ". She asked
"Si only if you want". Miguel nodded
"Si por favor ". Socorro piped
As the family continued to go through the boxes they found a couple of old tapes. Then Coco remembered after all these years she kept a box underneath her bed when she was little.
"What is it Mi Amor?" Julio asked
"Nada I just remembered something I'll be right back". Coco said
"What's gotten into her". Oscar asked
"No idea". Felipe finished
~~~ 2 Minutes later~~~
Coco came back with a large box labelled Coco, Mamá y Papà and she smiled at her parents the rest of the family was shook.
"Mija carina h-how w-what?" Héctor studded
"I thought it was all gone". Imelda cried into Hèctor's vest
"Nonsense I kept it most of it Mamá, I just hid it so you wouldn't get upset and I wanted to keep to remember Papà Lo siento ". Coco cried
Then Imelda broke down in tears, and hugged her daughter tight along with her husband. She started apologising but Héctor whispered it was okay and that she had her reasons and Coco just hugged her tightly.
"I think we should play them". Miguel suggests
"Que Como?!" Héctor said
"I think we still kept the the Old VCR machine we can try to hook it up to the Tv I can go and get it ". Miguel said
"I'll help you Mijo". Enrique added
~~~45 Minutes later ~~~
Once they had the VCR set up Coco put the first tape in and pressed play while she cuddled next to her parents.
The first video showed A young Oscar and Felipe toying with some gears and twisting them and them somehow it exploded. Then the camera was turned to an angry looking Imelda with her hands on her hips.
The family laughed
"I remember that, we blew the entire roof off and Mamá Imelda was not happy ". Oscar said
"Yes we were grounded for i think three weeks" Felipe added
"We had to get the whole roof replaced and repaired ". Héctor finished
Imelda rolled her eyes as the next video starts. It then showed off a young Imelda and Héctor up in a tree singing.
"You have a very sweet voice Mamá Imelda ". Elena comments
"Gracias Carina". Imelda thanked
The video then showed Héctor accidentally falling out of the tree.
The family laughed at this Héctor pouted.
"Don't worry at least you didn't get any broken bones". Socorro piped
"That's true Mija". Luisa replied
The next few videos showed Mamá Coco's first steps and her walking towards Héctor looking for some hugs. Then the next few videos showed the family reading and doing lots of different things. In on particular video it showed Héctor in the plaza steps with the Mariachi playing a few songs.
"I remember Maria took that". Héctor whispered
"Si". Imelda remembered
"Who's Maria?" Rosa asked
"She was one of the old Nuns at the orphanage I grew up in Mija she was a very nice lady". Héctor answers
"I think the old orphanage is still here we can maybe have a look later". Enrique Suggested
The last few videos showed Imelda and Héctor's wedding day with Imelda dressed in a beautiful white cut gown and Héctor in a sharp mariachi style Tuxedo. It showed them dancing and smiling and having cake.
"That is and always and forever will be my favourite gift ". Héctor whispered
"Porque?" Imelda asked
"Because I married the love of my life ". Héctor kisses Imelda's cheek and she turns bright red
"Te Amo Mi Amor". Imelda kissed him
For the rest of the day the Rivera's continue to watch old tapes of their past and cuddle up close to each other especially Imelda and Héctor they loved each other more than anything and They knew that this time they won't let each other go.
