Chapter 31:
Time Lord Victorious: WEISS! LET IT GO! LET GO OF THE VORTEX! YOU ALREADY DID WHAT YOU NEEDED TO DO!
Weiss Schnee has looked into the heart of the TARDIS and now has the power and knowledge of everything, time and space from the time vortex. Continuing to let out golden pulses, all the Weeping Angels were erased but she was not done even if the Time Lord was warning her.
Weiss: How can I let go of this? I bring life.
From where the explosion occurred, a bright flash appeared and from within it, Dalek Khan was resurrected as he screamed in agony. Looking around, he was confused as to how he was still alive but detected the time vortex energy.
Dalek Khan: TIME VORTEX ALERT! WHERE IS THE DOCTOR?
Time Lord Victorious: But this is wrong! You can't control life and death.
Weiss: But I can. I can reverse time itself however I wish it for it to be.
Letting out more energy from her, Remnant began to rotate in reverse preventing everything that happened in the last hours of the Weeping Angel invasion as well as bringing back all her friends and people who were murdered by them and setting the time back to dawn of the morning before any of the events even began and they will never happen because they won't remember it and the Angels are gone
Weiss: You are the reason behind this. You gave me a change of how I see this world, this universe. You changed me for the better and you are the reason I am determined to fix the mistakes and make them right. Even when you said it, anyone can be The Doctor.
Time Lord Victorious: I did...
Weiss: I can see everything. All that is, all that was, all that ever could be. The sun and the moon, the day and night. Yesterday, today, tomorrow. But why do they hurt?
Time Lord Victorious: The Vortex! The power's going to kill you...and it's my fault-
He noticed a shadow behind Weiss and saw it was a surviving Weeping Angel about to grab her and her carrying the time vortex will mean more trouble.
Time Lord Victorious: WEISS TURN AROUND!
She turned out as her wrist was held in a strong grip by the Weeping Angel and before she could do anything to erase it, it began to absorb her time energy and the time vortex all at once causing her to scream. If it successfully does, it'll become an unstoppable Weeping Angel. The absorbing caused great pain to Weiss as she felt she was being burned alive and let out a painful scream. Time Lord Victorious had enough and used all the energy from the sonic screwdriver to destroy the Weeping Angel completely before catching Weiss in his arms. He noticed the Time Vortex Energy was out from Weiss and before reaching the Angel and proceeded to send it back into the heart of the TARDIS using his screwdriver to open up the capsule. It was all finally back into the TARDIS as she was restored. But for Weiss, it was too late for the Time Lord as he noticed a disturbing sight: Her arm was slowly vanishing.
Time Lord Victorious: Oh god! Oh no no... Weiss! WEISS!
Weiss: *groans* My head...*opens eyes slowly* Doctor...
Time Lord Victorious could only hold her close and let out a scream of frustration which worried her as to what was going on. She remembered everything she did and just escaped the Weeping Angel thanks to him, but she also knew something was off.
Weiss: W-What's happening?...
Time Lord Victorious: I prevented the Weeping Angel from absorbing the time vortex, but I couldn't prevent it from draining you...you are being erased from existence.
She saw her left arm slowly disappearing but didn't have strength to panic and all she could do was let her tears come out. She could have seen it coming but she had her priority first which was to save everyone including her friends and the Doctor. It pained her knowing that she would soon disappear from the face of the universe, and no one will remember her.
Time Lord Victorious: You...IDIOT...why did I even let you come with me? You are being erased because of ME! I broke my promise to you...*sobs* I shouldn't have come back that night...
Weiss felt more pain from her heart seeing how her Doctor was reacting. She tried to place her hand on him, but he placed it back down and laid her down as he got up angry and stressed.
Weiss: Just let me be Doctor...it was my fault...not you...
He could only look at her with such displease and irritation fuming inside of him. Even in death, she tried to put the fault on her and he hated that.
Time Lord Victorious: Okay, right then, it was your fault. Because you had to look in there, didn't you? You had to go and absorb the time vortex, oh yes. Because that's who you are, Weiss Schnee. You were always believing in me. Never giving up on me all this time. Even how I treated you and the others recently. I tried to push you all away to protect you from me...
Weiss: D-Don't say that...I had do it...it was the only way I-
Time Lord Victorious: Well, exactly. Look at you. Just a human huntress living out her life. But me? I'm a time lord! I can travel across time and space with the TARDIS! I could do so much more. *Punches the wall* SO MUCH MORE! But this is what I get. My reward. AND IT'S NOT FAIR!
He looked back at Weiss with such disappointment and anger that it turned into sadness and heartbreak. He could not be mad at her, he could never be and if he was, he would regret it.
Time Lord Victorious: Why...Why did you have to be an idiot and risk your life!
Weiss: *reaches out to his hand* Because you taught me that just this once, everyone lives. It means the people I care for so much and the ones I love...even you...
Time Lord Victorious: That makes the two of us. The two biggest idiots in the universe.
Weiss: So it would seem. But if this really is the end, promise me to take care of my friends, my family, and be that Idiotic Gentleman in Remnant. And I love you...my Doctor...
Time Lord Victorious: D-Don't! Don't you dare...
Weiss let out a weak giggle as she began to disappear more with her left arm gone. She closed her eyes preparing her final moment of life, but he wasn't going to let her die; he wasn't going to break his promise. But he was also never going to let her be close to him again. He finally thought of a way to save her but there would be a big cost after. His decision would be to decline the reward and accept his punishment.
Time Lord Victorious: It's all my fault...but I'm going to make it right.
Holding her close to him once again, the Time Lord closed his eyes and focused deeply into his mind and body as he begins to glow that same golden light Weiss saw in the Nightmare World and when he healed her leg wound. Putting his hand on his chest, he used all his strength and focus to pull out an orb of golden light from himself as the light disappeared from him.
Time Lord Victorious: You will never have to worry about wounds, injuries, or even death. This will protect you forever.
He inserted the golden orb of light into Weiss causing her to glow and restore her body back to normal which woke her up like an electrical jolt gasping for air. He let out tears looking at her safe and alive once again but knew what was about to happen next.
Weiss: *breathes heavily* D-Doctor! W-What happened?!
Time Lord Victorious: Keeping my promise to you. Weiss Schnee, I love you.
He pulled her in for their very first kiss together as she accepts it and returns the kiss. The moment they both have waited for and wished to do a while back, but the sweet moment, however, won't last or even be remembered as he places his other hand near her head and begins to erase every memory of him, the TARDIS, Dalek Khan, and their adventures. She began to feel weak once again as she felt like screaming out his name, but her mind kept getting darker at every second. The last thing she saw in her mind which let one last tear fall from her was the memory of the first night together watching the stars before the memory vanished. Weiss falls unconscious as he looked at her and lets out a silent cry, hugging her as well. His happiness, his reward, the key to his heart, was gone because of him.
Dalek Khan: DOCTOR?
The Time Lord looked back up to see his Dalek friend, alive and well. Khan looks down at Weiss and scans her to notice something was very off. The Time Lord knew he didn't need to explain his actions as he held Weiss close to him while the unconscious body of hers released a small energy from her mouth.
Dalek Khan: What...have you done?
The Time Lord was no longer Victorious as the person he considered his universe was gone. His Weiss had died and all that was here is Weiss Schnee, a normal huntress in training from an heir family and apart of Team RWBY. From here, Weiss never met him nor knew about him. Back at Beacon, safe and sound with the reverse effects preventing the Weeping Angels taking over was Team RBY sleeping in their bed as the clock turns 6:00AM. The room would soon hear a familiar noise that would wake the girls up all drowsy.
Ruby: Mmm...5 more minutes...
Yang: Another dance Blakey...*snores*
Blake: Mmm guys? *Rubs eyes and hears the TARDIS* GUYS! THE TARDIS!
Ruby: Huh? What? WHA! *Falls off the bed* Ow...
Yang: *wipes drool* Why is he here? AND WHY SO EARLY?
The TARDIS would materialize in the center of their room to their confusion as to why he showed up very early. The doors would open to their horror as the Doctor carried Weiss and slowly walked out of the TARDIS.
Ruby: WEISS!
Yang: Oh my god! What happened to her?
Blake: Is she still breathing?
The Time Lord laid her down on her bed and tucked her in looking at her one last time before making his leave, but he first needed to talk to Team RBY.
Time Lord Victorious: She's okay...she's in a deep sleep but she'll wake up later.
Ruby: What happened though? And why is she in her school uniform?
He could only look down in shame and guilt as the girls looked at each other in concern. He asked them to sit down and began to explain everything that occurred: Being in Mountain Glenn, the Invasion of the Angels, City of Vale becoming a Ghost Town, and their deaths. They felt like they were going to throw up wondering how all of this happened if they don't remember it ever happening until he explained Weiss's actions of looking into the heart of the TARDIS and using the energy to erase all the Weeping Angels and reversing the effects which is the reason they are still alive but don't remember it happening.
Yang: I feel like I'm gonna throw up at any moment...
Blake: We all died...and she brought us back to life.
Ruby: And as for the Angels...
Dalek Khan: We did a FULL scan. They are no Weeping Angels anymore.
The three looked at each other with hope and relief that it was all over now. The Weeping Angels were gone for good, and they would no longer pose a danger to them. But one thing remained: Weiss.
Blake: So, what happened after?
Time Lord Victorious: There was one more Angel that survived and began to drain the Time Vortex from Weiss and almost killing her. I was able to destroy it and return the vortex back inside the TARDIS but Weiss...she was being erased from existence.
Team RBY: WHAT?!
Yang: But she's okay now, right? I mean she's breathing and looks okay to us.
Time Lord Victorious: I was able to save her in just in time and prevent her death. But...
Ruby: But what?
They noticed the tears falling from his eyes and the girls knew something was terribly wrong. They all reached out to him as he wiped his tears and took a deep breath. What they heard next broke their hearts.
Time Lord Victorious: I had to wipe her mind completely. Every trace of me, or the TARDIS, anything we did together, anywhere we went, had to go.
Yang: No...
Blake: All those wonderful things she did with you...
Ruby: T-There's gotta be a way to fix this right? I mean, saving her is already good but-
Time Lord Victorious: I know. But that version of Weiss is dead. Because if she remembers, just for a second, it can cause problems. You can never tell her. You can't mention me or any of it for the rest of her life. She died with the rest of you and Vale in the previous timeline. This Weiss is simply a member of Team RWBY and a normal Huntress.
Yang: But she was better with you. We all saw it!
Blake: Yang is right. You two loved each other and cared for each other so deeply. Ever since that first day, the day you helped rescue her from the Nightmare Grimm, the Dance.
Ruby: It can't end like this...you two never got to confess your feelings for each other...
Time Lord Victorious: *breathes* I just want you to know there is a future out there, safe at last because of her. That there are people living in the light and creating new memories because of Weiss Schnee. No one will ever remember it though especially her...But for one moment, one shining moment, she was the most important woman in all of Remnant. Sometimes...being a Doctor doesn't mean saving the universe, sometimes it can be saving a small city or town. I couldn't do it...because I'm not fit nor ready. You were right Blake and Yang; this is all my fault...and I'm sorry...
The trio were going to speak out again until they heard groaning and everyone in the room looked at the bed where Weiss was waking up. Acting fast, Khan returned inside as the Time Lord used his screwdriver to cloak the TARDIS invisible while she rubbed her eyes and looked at everyone sleepy.
Weiss: Mmm morning girls. You're up so early than usual. *yawns*
Ruby: O-Oh! Well, we had one of Ironwood's people come over to notify me that he wanted to talk to me about the incident from CCT and wanted more information.
Weiss looked at the Time Lord as he looked back at her with pain in his eyes knowing well for right now, she won't know who he is. How he wished he was wrong just like the rest of the team. All Weiss saw was a handsome young man, and she is still all drowsy which embarrased her.
Weiss: Oh! Why didn't you guys wake me up! *Straightens myself*
Yang: Youuuuu were...STUDYING! YEAH! Studying all night that we didn't want to interrupt your beauty sleep.
Weiss: *looks at self* Huh? Guess it makes sense why I'm in my uniform. *Takes out hand* Weiss Schnee, such a pleasure to meet you.
Time Lord Victorious: *slowly grabs her hand and shakes it* William Smith.
Weiss: William Smith.
Everyone looked at each other in panic thinking this would be the trigger for resetting her memories again but that wasn't the case here.
Weiss: Lovely name Mr. Smith.
Time Lord Victorious: Just William is fine. If anything, I should call you Ms. Schnee. You are heiress to the Schnee family and Dust company, oncoming top huntress-
Weiss: Oh stop! That doesn't matter much to me. It's just special names when I'm actually out here kicking ass and saving people with my team and friends. I gotta head to the restroom and wash my face to start the day. Nice to meet you William, and Ruby, keep me posted with Ironwood. *Walks to the bathroom*
Blake: She doesn't remember you but, she still acts like how she was after meeting you. She doesn't care about what she did in the beginning.
Yang: And she still can't take her eyes off you. Doctor, please for the sake of the brothers and all of us, there must be a way!
The girls looked at him waiting for a reply, but they saw his face, his sad eyes looking at Weiss Schnee one last time.
Time Lord Victorious: I should go now before she comes out.
Ruby: Will we see you again?
Time Lord Victorious: *sighs and smiles* You will. Just maybe not often. I'll be around for the festival maybe so who knows.
Yang: Every night, Doctor, when it gets dark, and the stars come out, we'll look up on her behalf. We'll look up at the sky and think of you.
Blake: Earlier you apologized to us and said it was your fault. We have no clue how it exactly went with the Angels and perhaps it got complicated but know this Doctor, we all make mistakes and sometimes it takes a while to find ourselves and we can make it right. You may call yourself the Time Lord Victorious but to us... and to Weiss, you are and always be The Doctor.
The trio gave him reassuring, soft smiles to the Time Lord who in return smiled back and returned into the TARDIS without saying anything back. Soon, the TARDIS began to dematerialize as Team RBY looked on hoping it wasn't the last time, they would see their friend. They were ready to get through the day knowing what's to come, heading to Mountain Glenn but with the sweet relief that the Weeping Angels were no longer there.
Weiss: *comes out of the bathroom* Well, I guess we should get ready in the meantime while Ruby goes to meet with Ironwood. Also, did you guys hear that noise as well?
The girls turned around to look at their ice queen friend but made their eyes widened when they saw something that confused Weiss. She didn't know anything, but they did, and it stung them.
Weiss: Why are you three looking at me like that? *Wipes tears* Tears? I don't even feel sad.
Tears were falling from Weiss that had her confused, but Team RBY knew what it meant. She must've heard the TARDIS when it left and caused some sort of trigger for a moment. She was still confused as they were left heartbroken, the trio goes to hug Weiss altogether leaving her more confused.
Weiss: I'm fine, you three. I don't know why I had tears coming out but seriously, I'm okay!
They ignored her response knowing that she wasn't, but she would never know. Back in the TARDIS, Dalek Khan continued to pilot the TARDIS as he looked at his friend, sitting on the floor, trembling, and covering his face with his hands while crying silently. Within his hands was the necklace he gave her during the dance, it was only now a memory of someone who no longer exists. Standing up, he wipes his tears and pulls the lever to have the TARDIS come to a sudden stop, and that leaves Dalek Khan confused.
Dalek Khan: DOCTOR? Explain why we stopped.
Time Lord Victorious: *opens the doors* I found an abandoned shelter here in Vale. *sighs* I'm giving you my decision which is for you to stay behind and keep an eye on Team RWBY.
Dalek Khan: REQUEST DENIED!
Time Lord Victorious: It's not a request, I'm telling you that you are going to stay behind. After everything that happened, I can't have Team RWBY go toe to toe with more monsters that could appear from the cracks or other aliens. I lost all of them once, I'm not going to let that happen. Please Khan... *puts hands together*
The Dalek looked at his time lord friend and understood his reasoning, he still remembered everything that happened including his sacrifice. What he didn't know was that Yang and Ruby were also killed and Weiss absorbed the Time Vortex until the Time Lord told him everything. He does wish to stay behind and help the girls when danger comes but at the same time, he can't leave the Doctor on his own. That was his concern.
Dalek Khan: What about you?
Time Lord Victorious: *sighs* I'll be fine. I know my limits and I know what I'll be doing.
Dalek Khan: Then...I will AGREE to your terms. On ONE condition. Find someone.
Time Lord Victorious: I don't need anyone.
Dalek Khan: Yes, you do. Because sometimes, I think you need someone to stop you from becoming a good Dalek.
The Time Lord was about to reply until he saw a jet passing by and was about to land. He knew that ship had Team RWBY inside with their professor as they would begin their Grimm training. He gives Khan a soft smile without saying a word and closes the door as he quickly dematerializes the TARDIS to disappear before the girls come out. Dalek Khan lowered his eyestalk as he did not wish things would come like this. He looked at Team RWBY coming out and decided to enter the abandoned shelter to rest but he felt something was off about himself. He felt empty, not mentally or emotionally, but physically. Finding a broken piece of glass, he positioned himself and opened his case to find a shocking surprise leaving him speechless.
1 DAY LATER
If you were to ask Team RWBY what they thought of their Grimm training at Mountain Glenn: Hectic. That was the case for them with their training going haywire after rediscovering the secret base of Roman Torchwick and the White Fang even though no one remembers a single thing with Weiss changing the timeline. Yang was almost killed by Roman's apprentice and partner in crime, Neo until she was saved by a masked figure before making her leave. But at long last, the day was finally slowing down as Roman was taken to custody and Team RWBY rested on the edge of Beacon's landing platform. Ruby, Blake, and Yang however, kept checking on their ice queen in hopes that she would remember the Doctor or anything that occurred. What they did notice was a few Grimms would be killed in trails they would take and they knew who it belonged to but were unable to find Dalek Khan.
Yang: Well, we did it.
Blake: We did it.
Weiss: If we don't get extra credit for that, I'm gonna be seriously disappointed.
Yang: Weiss, a two-headed snake literally crushed a bakery. I wouldn't count on it.
Ruby: Plus, I mean, we didn't solve everything. A lot of people were hurt, and we still don't even know why they did this, or who that mystery girl was.
Weiss: Well, not every story has a neat and tidy ending. Sometimes...you get the ending that can be so disappointing or heartbreaking. I've read so many books with endings like that.
Blake: *sighs* Guess not. We might not have all the answers, but we do have a lot of dangerous people behind bars. And I think that's something we could be proud of.
Ruby: Yeah! And if anyone tries something like this again, we'll be there to stop them.
Yang: *lays down* Yay, teamwork, camaraderie, good guys, go team, alright, good job... So, what now?
Weiss: I would suggest training for the tournament, but I guess we have that covered at this point.
Blake: So then...
Ruby: Uhh... Time for bed?
Yang: Please.
Blake: Absolutely.
Yang: I'm going to sleep forever.
Weiss: W-Wait! Would it be okay if we go get some sleep for right now...but do some stargazing later tonight. I feel like wanting to look at the stars and draw some as well.
Team RBY were surprised by this sudden request by Weiss. It hurt because so many things that impacted her by the Doctor remained and yet she has no clue of him. They did leave a promise to him that they would watch the stars.
Ruby: Absolutely!
Yang: Count me in.
Blake: I think it's a beautiful idea Weiss. I'm sure he- I mean we be happy to watch the stars together.
Weiss smiled and thanked the girls before walking back to the main campus first as Team RBY all looked up into the sky in hoping that sooner than later, he would return. That he would return to visit them, return to protect their universe, and return as their Doctor. They may have seen him in the morning, but they missed him dearly. On the other side of campus on a rooftop was Cinder watching the City of Vale. The plan was soon to begin and with no sign of that Doctor for a week now, it had returned to their advantage.
"Cinder"
She heard a whisper to her name and turned around to see nothing. She knew it was those whispers once again and shook her head, hoping it go away.
"You think you'll live your life. No! For I am coming."
Cinder: *grunts* Get the hell off my head!
"It's my body, my soul, all me and you are just a decoy borrowing it. Tick Tock Cinder Fall..."
Cinder: STOP IT! GET OUT!
Emerald: Uh...Cinder?
She turned around to see her teammates looking back at her confused and worried for her sudden outburst.
Cinder: I'm fine! Just thought I kept hearing something and it worried me. Anyways, for today. All in all, I call today a success.
Emerald: Those stupid kids really made a mess of things.
Mercury: Yeah. A lot of Faunus didn't make it out of the tunnels. You still think the White Fang's going to listen to us?
Adam: Never! But they'll listen to me.
They turned around to be confronted by the leader of the White Fang, Adam Taurus as they all looked at the City of Vale and what would soon be their welcoming demise. The fall of this great city.
A WEEK LATER
In an arena, packed with so many people from different kingdoms carrying paints, flags, and signs of support. Many came for the annual huntsmen and huntress tournament of the year. It was finally time.
Professor Port: WELCOME LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! TO THIS YEAR'S ANNUAL VYTAL FESTIVAL!
