Karolina lay in the room she shared with Nico, with said girlfriend lying by her side.
The two of them were basking in comfortable silence, enjoying the fact that they could just relax for a bit. It had been a week since everything went down with Morgan la Fey and they still weren't quite used to being able to just be.
As she stared up at the ceiling, Karolina found herself listening to the sounds of Nico's breathing as well as her own. It was peaceful. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt like this.
Suddenly, she felt Nico shift next to her and she appeared in Karolina's line of view. With a small smile, Nico leaned down and pressed a kiss to her girlfriend's lips, which Karolina gladly accepted.
"What was that for?" Karolina asked when their lips parted, smiling.
"Just because," Nico responded with a small shrug.
Karolina understood what she meant by this instantly. Just because they were still alive. Just because they were together. Just because they were safe and free.
Just because...there was not enough words to describe the reasons why. Just because...well, that's a good enough reason on it's own.
