Beginning of Chaos
{Who am I?... Where am I?... Why am I here?}
Our story begins in Rugio city… or what was left of it at least. The Rugio ruins was once a beautiful city that recently met its end at the hands of a powerful black dragon. A caravan with 5 people is now making its way through the city at this moment…
Purple haired girl: "I'm so bored! How much longer captain?" she questions impatiently
A large muscular man with gray hair, beard and a large scar over his right eye seems to be annoyed by the girl's constant complaints.
Older man: "Just be patient will you! How many times do I have to tell you that we're almost at Marbaro forest!" he yells in response
Purple haired girl: "(*Heavily Sighs*) I really don't get why we had to come back here though, haven't there been recent sightings of the brutal dragon?" she asks
Older man: "It doesn't matter, we started something and we cannot stop now. The people are counting on us to bring their families back together, Understood? So quit complaining and follow the program!" He says sternly
Libera: "I can't help it, it's so boring just sitting here days at a time not doing anything. I'm begging you, just please give me something to do!" she begs
Tenert: "(Sighs…) Fine then, go on and scout out the path ahead to make sure it's safe. Stay alive, you got that!?" He says
The girl's eyes light up as her smile widens. She jumps out of the carriage and runs off ahead while shouting "Understood captain! I'll be careful!" she yells back
Tenert: "Damned brat" he says
A man in another carriage behind the old man looks and wonders why the girl has left the carriage.
His hair was red and he wore a mask and headband that covered most of his face, leaving only his eyes exposed. His name was Virgo.
Virgo: "Is everything alright captain? Where is Libera headed?" he questions
Tenert: "She's fine, She just got bored so I let her go explore the city a bit" he answers
Virgo: "Huh? Are you sure that's safe though? I mean, we still haven't confirmed whether the dragon is still here or not" he says
Tenert: "It'll be fine, I hope…" he says
Virgo: "You hope?" he asks
…Elsewhere in Rugio Ruins…
Libera: "Woohoo, yay!" she shouts as she jumps from building to building
Libera: "This is so much better than being cooped in that crummy old carriage all day. I'm so free!" She continues
As she attempts to leap to another platform, her foot slips and she falls to the ground.
She quickly flips herself in mid air and lands perfectly on her feet negating all potential damage.
Libera: "This is fun! But I better do some actual scouting so I can have a report ready for the captain when I get back." she says to herself
Just as Libera turns around the corner of a destroyed building, she sees a boy with white hair, bleeding out on a rock.
Libera: "I wonder if he's dead…" she says
She looks closer to realize that the boy's body is still twitching slightly. She walks over to the body and kneels beside him.
Libera: "Huh?... well that's unusual" she says
Protruding from the boy's head was a pair of red horns
Libera: "This doesn't look good at all… could this be the work of the dragon? No way, he couldn't have survived such an encounter… Up we go." She says as she gently lifts the boy's body and heads back to her caravan
…4 days later in a forest near Rugio ruins…
The caravan has set up camp just outside the forest and established their home base. They have managed to find and shelter four people that were stranded in the ruins. One of these people included the white haired boy that Libera found.
…and he has just woken up.
white haired boy: "ugh… W-where am i?" he says
He looks around in the dark tent confused… Just then a purple haired elf girl walks in.
Libera: "Huh? Oh look at that, he finally woke up!" she says with excitement
white haired boy: "Where am I… who are you?" he asks
Libera: "You've been rescued by a support caravan and are now resting inside one of their tents. I'm Libera, a member of that caravan and the one that saved you" she answers
White haired boy: "Saved me? From what?" he questions
…Suddenly visions of a Dragon flashes in the boys mind
White haired boy: "A dragon!?" he shouts in shock
Libera: "You remember what happened now?" She asks
White haired boy: "N-no, it's all just blank"
Libera kneels beside the boy
Libera: "Hmm… Do you mind telling me your name?" she asks
White haired boy: "My name…? It's… Kei, Kei Katsuragi" he answers
Libera: "It's nice to meet you Kei (*Smiles brightly*). Now tell me… what is up with those weird looking eyes of yours? And those horns too? Are you some race that I've never heard of?" She questions
Kei: "Horns? What are you talking about?" he asks
The boys feels the base of the horns protruding from the top of his head
Kei "What the hell is this?!" he yells
Libera: "That's what I'd like to know" she says
Suddenly, an old muscular man walks into the tent followed by a younger red haired man.
Tenert: "You'll confuse the poor kid even more with all your questions. Give him a break already. Now what's up with those eyes of yours kid? Your sclera is completely black, plus one of your pupil is purple and the other is black too. They look almost demonic" He says
Virgo: "Didn't you just tell Libera to give him a break?" he asks in confusion
Kei: "..."
Tenert: "Hmm… I see, so you don't plan on telling us huh? Well it doesn't really matter"
Kei: "Huh!?" Kei says as he looks up in confusion
Tenert: "I can feel it you know? Your desire for power…"
Kei: "..."
Virgo: "He's right… I can see it clearly through those eyes of yours… But what could possibly be the reason? Is it to defeat the black dragon that terrified your city?" he asks
Kei: "..."
Libera: "Who cares why, all that matters is he wants to get stronger. You and I can relate to that can't we brother?" She asks
Virgo: "I suppose your right. In this world, what could be more valuable" He says
Libera: " Then it's settled... Take my hand and we'll help you to obtain that strength that you seek"
The girl holds out her hand towards the boy…
…The next day…
Virgo: "I created this blindfold specially for you… It'll help hide those eyes of yours completely. Not only that, I also enchanted this hood so it hides those horns you got poking out of your head."
Kei: "Really!? Can it do that?!" He says in surprise
Virgo: "Of course it can, I made it after all. Go ahead and put it on." he says
Kei puts the blindfold over his eyes and covers his head with the hood…
It perfectly hid all of his unnatural features…
Virgo: "There, it works perfectly" he says with pride
Kei: "This is amazing! Thank you" He says earnestly
Virgo: (*Smirks*)... Now Libera, (*Looks over to the purple haired girl*) Don't go being reckless just because the captain has allowed this" he says
Libera pulls Kei along by his arm
Libera: "Yeah, Yeah. I know brother. We'll be back safe in a few hours ok!?" she says
Virgo: "You better be…" he warns
…A few hours later…
Libera: "(*Yawns*) C'mon already, how long does it take to beat a weak level 3 colon? It's been hours already." she asks in frustration
[Colons are common low level monsters. Their features consist of a dark, brown-orange, seed-like body, with leaves for legs, black eyes, and a black rugged mouth]
Kei: "Maybe instead of just napping and asking if I'm done, you'd do something to help me!" he yells back in frustration
Libera: "I gave you a sword, isn't that enough help?" she asks with annoyance
Kei: "This rusty ass sword doesn't do anything!" he shouts
Libera: "Well maybe if you weren't just running for your life and actually swung it, it'd do something!" She argues
Kei: "That's easy for you to say, don't you think I've tried cutting this thing!? It literally did nothing but piss it off!" He argues back
Just then Kei narrowly dodges the monster's pounce and dives on the ground for safety.
Thud!
He quickly gets up and gathers himself.
Kei: {I'm lucky that this thing isn't very fast or I would be dead already. But my attacks are too weak to do any significant damage, What do I do…?} he thinks
While Kei is lost in thought for a brief moment the monster pounces and catches him off guard.
Libera: "Get out of the way weakling!"
Kei: {Dammit, I can't move quick enough to dodge, he's got me!} he thinks in desperation
Just then, Libera's punches the colon into a nearby tree, killing it in an instant.
Kei: "...Huh?" He says as he just stands there with a dopey looking expression
As she looks at Kei, her eyes widen for a moment before she quickly regains her composure.
Libera: "...I've seen enough of your capabilities, you were taking way too long with such a weak monster. Seems I was wrong about you… you have no talent for this at all" She says as she waves him off
Kei: "What are you saying?" he questions
Libera: "That we're done here, you're not worth any more of my time…" she adds
Three colons progressively surround the two while they speak but Libera easily defeats them with three quick punches as she walks off.
Libera: "...not until u can do something like that at least. I'm going back to camp, do whatever you like. Just don't go deeper into the forest… the way you are now, those armored colons would eat you alive" She warns
…The next day…
Tenert returns to the camp with two more refugees rescued from Rugio ruins. Soon afterwards, Libera is kneeling in front of him while he admonishes her
Tenert: "Say what!? I can't believe what I'm hearing! how could you leave him in there all by himself?! What if he gets himself killed, you fool!" He yells
Libera: "(*Nervously laughs*) …I have faith that he'll make it, it's all apart of the training to make him tougher, that's all" She says nervously
Tenert: "What exactly makes you think he'll make it back alive!? He doesn't even know anything about a sword! Furthermore he's just a level 1 facing level 2 and 3 monsters. With one wrong move, that could easily prove to be fatal!"
Libera's face became serious for a moment
Libera: "...H-he leveled up in an instant after I killed a colon, I'd never seen anything like it before" she says in a low tone
Tenert: "He leveled up after killing only one low level Colon? Hmm… I've only heard rumors about people with such talent. If what you say is true, then the boy has even more potential than I anticipated"
Libera: "See!" She says with a bit of excitement
Tenert: "Then why would you put his life at such risk with your games!?" he questions sternly
Libera's voice and eyes became cold
Libera: "That was your method of teaching us back then, wasn't it father?" She questions
Tenert is visibly taken aback for a moment before quickly regaining his composure.
Tenert: "...You have no business comparing him to you and your brother, and you certainly have no business comparing the two of us as instructors…" he lectures solemnly
Libera is visibly shocked at this-
Virgo suddenly enters the tent and senses the tense aura between the two
Virgo: "The kid will be just fine captain…" He assures
Tenert: "Virgo… And what makes you so sure of that!?" he says commandingly
Virgo: "As soon as my sister informed me of the situation, I went to check on the boy. I watched him spend hours just fighting and beating one colon, so I decided to give him some advice about his stat distribution before I left. After that, I hid and watched him for a bit longer… he was doing alot better after my advice and even managed to kill two high level Colons before I came back" He answers
Libera's eyes widened as a smile unknowingly spread across her face.
Tenert: "Sigh… I've had enough, I'm going to rest. If anything happens to the boy, I'll hold you accountable Libera and you'll be punished accordingly." he warns
Libera smiles with complete confidence
Libera: "Understood captain." she says with rejuvenated vigor
Tenert walks away to his tent.
Libera: "...If he dies I'm screwed aren't I?" She asks with a smile still plastered across her face
Virgo: "Yeah, you better go help him." He warns casually
Libera: "...No, I already told him that he needed to prove that he was worth my time, there's no way I can go back before he proves it." She answers
Virgo: "But if he dies, then-"
Libera: "I know what will happen, I'm putting my faith in him and that's final. I do thank you for teaching him about stat distribution though, to be honest I completely forgot to tell him about that." she says before running off to her tent
Virgo: "That reckless girl… such a pain" he says
…That night…
Kei was now badly injured and lying by a tree looking up at the sky
Kei: "Coughs… Damn that stupid bird…" he says softly
He pulls out a small red vile of liquid he had gotten from one of the caravan members. This was known as a Revita. He drinks it and his injuries begin to rapidly heal.
…3 days later…
Kei: "Tch!"
Kei's sword is thrown back after an attack on a colon wearing armor.
He quickly recovers his stance and delivers a powerful strike to the monster.
His blade catches a blaze for a moment and gives off small sparks.
Clang!
He slams his blade into the armored Colon, knocking the monster back…
It quickly hops back onto its leafy feet
Kei: {This thing is so damn stubborn} He thinks
The colon pounces at Kei to deliver a headbutt
*Dodge*
Kei easily dodges by jumping to the side
As soon as it lands-
*Slash*
Kei rushes and slices it with his sword
Clang!
The attack slightly cuts into the colons armor before it immediately jumps back to stop the swords penetration
Kei: {That must be its survival instincts…} he thinks
The colon pounces. Kei dashes forward.
*Dodge*
Kei jumps to the side
The colon misses it's attack with it's jagged teeth
*Dash*
Kei quickly runs up and stabs the colon through the cracks in the armor that he created with his previous strikes.
The colon tries to move but it's too late. It is skewered by Kei's blade
Kei: "Heavy panting… I did it! I finally beat an armored Colon. Thanks to the talisman Tenert gave me, it feels like my energy reserves have tripled!" he says with a smile
…2 days later…
Kei finally feels he is ready to fight the monster that previously defeated him a few days prior, A pico.
[This was a large bird creature with sharp talons]
A pico rests inside a tree trunk until several stones abruptly disturb its slumber.
It tries to ignore the stones but they just keep coming.
It promptly exits its nest and scans its surroundings carefully-
It quickly turns around and blocks a sword targeted at its neck with it's talon
Kei: "Tch!" he hisses
The pico quickly overpowers and pushes Kei back
It then lunges forward to sink its talons into his flesh
Clash!
Kei quickly blocks with his sword
He is thrown back from the Pico's shear power
Kei: {It's nothing like the colons I've fought up until now!} he thinks
The pico lunges again and attacks Kei's head with it's talon
*Dodge*
He ducks under the talon just in time and rolls behind the bird
He quickly spins and cuts the Pico in it's back
His mana surges as it sparks and catches a blaze
It tries to turn and counter attack but-
Slash!
The clash was over in an instant…
…1 week after Kei was left in the forest…
Once again, Tenert has returned from his investigation in the Rugio ruins. He is told by one of his men that the boy has not yet emerged from the forest. He immediately calls for Libera's presence in his tent.
Tenert puts his palm on his face while looking disappointedly at the girl
Libera: "Captain, before you say anything I-"
Tenert: "Enough Libera! I'm tired of this. Find the boy's body and bring it back as soon as possible. The least we can do is give him a proper burial. After that, we'll discuss your punishment" he says sternly
Libera: "But captain-"
Tenert: "I said Enough!" he shouts
Libera looks at the man in shock before recomposing herself.
Suddenly Loud chatter could be heard outside the tent.
Tenert: "What's that ruckus about now…?" he wonders
A man runs inside the tent and delivers the news of what just occurred.
Tenert and Libera run out of the tent to see a white haired boy wearing a blindfold and gripping his shortsword tightly.
Tenert: "Y-your alive!?" he says surprised
…A few hours later…
The heads of a colon, armored colon and a pico were placed outside of Kei's tent. Tenert, Kei, Libera and Virgo talked for hours about how he spent his time learning how to kill the monsters... The three are stunned when they come to realize Kei has grown to level 5.
Libera: "…Level 5 huh? not bad"
Virgo: "...To have grown 5 levels in just a week is quite impressive. It took me days to move up just 1 level when I just started training" He says as he laughs proudly chuckles
Tenert: "Hahahah! You sure do have talent for this kid, I give you that. You're still quite a bit off from our levels, but if you keep growing like this… I'd say it's only a matter of time before you even surpass me." he says as he a laughs proudly
Virgo: "While it's impressive that you accomplished such a feat, you should keep in mind that it gets harder to level up the higher you go, so don't go thinking u can keep that level of growth up, you got that?" he warns
Kei: "Yeah, that makes sense…" he says
Virgo: "So Kei… my sister tells me you seek the power to defeat the Brutal Dragon, Decel, am I correct?" He inquires
Kei: "...I don't know about that to be honest. I do plan on becoming an adventurer after this though…"
Virgo: "Oh? So an adventurer heh? Sounds like the perfect path for you to take to be honest. I mean what would be the point of hunting down that accursed dragon. It would only lead to your death." he says
Kei: "Yeah… I guess you're right."
Virgo gets up and leaves the tent to address other matters concerning the other refugees.
Tenert: "Get some rest Kiddo. The day after tomorrow, you and I will go into the forest to train. I'll impart some of the knowledge that I've stored up over the years. You plan on becoming an adventurer after all don't you?" He questions
Tenert promptly leaves the tent and returns to aid Virgo.
Libera: "...Contrary to what you may believe, I'm happy that you made it back safely Kei." She says
Kei: "Your right… that is hard to believe..." He says
Libera gets up and begins to walk out.
Libera: "How about you and I have a little sparring match after the captain has taught you how to actually fight." she proposes
Kei: "(*Smiles*) I can't wait. I'll relish the opportunity to kick your ass" he says with a smirk
…Two weeks later…
After training everyday with Tenert for two weeks, Kei has grown to level 8.
The day has arrived when he and Libera face off in a 1 one 1 duel. The two slip away into the forest under the pretext of training and commence their promised fight. They soon find a clearing in the forest where no monsters were present.
Libera: "This'll be fun!" She says with excitement
Libera pulls out her brass knuckle gloves and equips them while Kei unsheathes his shortsword.
The two stare intensely at each other without saying a word…
The battle's start is signaled by the slow falling of a leaf. As soon as it touches the ground…
Dash!
Kei quickly springs into action and goes for a downward swing with his blade. Libera skillfully and with minimal movement moves aside to dodge the strike.
She spins and delivers a reverse kick towards Kei's head.
Whack!
Kei is overwhelmed by her speed and knocked to the ground.
Her kick knocks off Kei's hood and blindfold to reveal what was underneath.
Libera: "Crap! Did I overdo it?" she says frantically
Kei: "No, it's fine. I prefer this actually…" He says as he stands up
Now his red demon-like horns were fully exposed due to the enchantment of the hood having disappeared. But even more strange than the boy's horns were his eyes. He had a condition that was quite rare in Iruna. Having both blue and red pupils, he had heterochromia . But even more strange, his scleras were pitch black which was completely unheard of.
Kei: "I can see clearly now…" he says with a smile
Libera: "I see, then let's get started!" She says with excitement
*Stomps*
Libera plants her foot into the ground and propels herself forward.
Whoosh!
She quickly closes the distance between them and begins her assault!
Kei barely dodges Libera's first two jabs followed by her roundhouse kick.
He jumps backs to create the space to swing is blade
She nimbly repositions herself to land a powerful right punch
*Blocks*
He quickly puts up his guard and tries to block the attack with his sword
Bam!
Kei's blade is flung out of the way and he's sent flying into the dirt.
Kei stumbles to his feet with his vision blurred.
Libera: "Is that all you got? I can see the slight improvement in your sword skills, but that little bit of training is not near enough to overcome the massive difference between us. you've already lost this fight" she says cockily
Kei: "Not yet…" he says
Libera: "Huh?"
Kei's face suddenly becomes one of horror…
Libera looks on a bit unsettled and confused by the sudden change in demeanor
Kei: "No!" He yells in defiance and dashes forward
Just then a massive wolf pounces at Libera from behind and bites off her head!
…It lands expecting to have taken off her head but to its surprise, there's nothing there.
Kei pushed her out of the way just in time.
The two quickly scramble and regain their composure
Kei: "What the hell? A wolf?" He questions
Libera: {Why didn't I sense this thing approaching? How the hell did I let my guard down like that?} She thinks in confusion
Kei: "H-hey, what's with that look?" he says as a bead of sweat runs down his face
The duo look on at the menacing creature now before them. It was nearly as tall as Libera while standing on all fours and it was unusually long. It also had bone-like armor covering its head along with various other parts of its body.
Libera: "It's the boss of the forest. I messed up, we walked right into its domain" She says shakily as beads of sweat run down her face
…Kei cautiously picks up his sword
Kei: "Give me 5 minutes… Then we'll continue our fight" he says confidently
Libera: "Don't be foolish! This thing is way out of your-!"
Before she can finish her warning
*Dash*
Kei rushes at the wolf with his sword in hand!
The wolf pounces forward in preparation to bite Kei
Whoosh!
Its quick and powerful movement seems like a blur to Kei.
Kei is tackled and sent flying back before he even realizes
Clang!
He instinctively used the sword to block the wolf's fangs but is sent tumbling onto his back
*Flips*
He quickly uses the wolf's momentum to flip him off.
Thud!
The wolf crashes onto it's back but nimbly and quickly rolls to get back to its feet
Whoosh!
Before Kei can fully get to his feet and turn to attack the wolf
The wolf's claws are already at his head and is about to rip it off
Time slows for a second as realization sets in for Kei
Kei: {So fast! I'm screwed!}he thinks in panic
Clash!
Libera's fist clashes with the wolf's claw and stops it right before it reaches Kei.
The wolf instinctually jumps back and creates some separation
Libera: "You idiot! You're nowhere near this things' level. You're lucky you were even able to survive its first strike!" she shouts in anger
The wolf then grits its teeth as he stares down the new foe that stood before it.
{I had hoped that I could kill this one before she took notice of me. She is significantly stronger than the other one…} The wolf thinks as it lets out a low rumbling growl
Libera: {It's sizing me up… It's far more intelligent than any other monster around here} She thinks
Libera: "Stay back Kei, this thing is way out of your league…" She says
Kei: "What!?" he questions confused
Libera stomps into the ground!
Whoosh!
With incredible speed, she propels herself forward!
The wolf quickly jumps to the side, narrowly dodging the girl's charge
However, she suddenly stops on a dime beside the wolf, completely cutting her momentum.
This maneuver catches the wolf off guard-
Bam!
She punches the wolf right in the side of its face.
Thump!
This sends the wolf crashing and rolling into the ground
Libera quickly follows up by going to stomp on the wolf
Stomp!
Her heel digs into the ground beneath her!
*Dodge*
The wolf quickly rolled to the side causing her to narrowly miss.
It gets to its feet and quickly pounces at her but she blocks with her forearm
Chomp!
It uses its large sharp fangs to rip into Libera's arm
"Ngh!" she grunts slightly
The wolf's fangs could not penetrate her arm equipment completely.
Realizing this, she pummels the wolf with three powerful punches
She then throws it a few meters away from her
The wolf lands on its side but quickly springs to its feet.
It glares at Libera for a moment
Libera glares back as she prepares to defend herself once more.
Kei watches on silently as the struggle for life plays out before him, unable to assist or do anything to defend himself. He feels an empty dark pit begin to form in his stomach as disgust for himself surfaces to his mind.
The wolf then suddenly begins to walk away deeper into the forest.
Kei: "What?" he says with a stunned expression
Libera: "Fortunately, it seems we might live to see another day…"
…
Libera: "My equipment won't last much longer now, If that fight had continued, we would have both died" She says
Kei: "So we just got lucky…?" he rhetorically asks
…A few minutes later…
Kei: "Hey! You can't say you've won when the fight didn't even finish!" he argues
Libera: "I was clearly going to win so why not?!" she exclaims
Kei and Libera: "Fine! Let's finally settle this!" they shout in unison
Boom!
Just then the two hear a huge explosion.
Libera quickly climbs to the top of a tree, She sees black smoke rising from the campsite.
Libera: "Oh no! We've got to go. Now!" she yells
She jumps down and starts running at full speed back to the camp
Kei quickly puts on back the blindfold and hood. which perfectly hides his abnormal eyes and his horns.
Kei: {What the hell's going on now!?} he thinks
Within a few minutes they emerge from the forest and are met with the sight of their camp burning to the ground. The remaining refugees desperately try to escape while Tenert and Virgo try to hold off a massive beast.
Its long claws and talons are orange as well as its horns and ears. It had orange spikes protruding from its shoulders and knees. The right side of the creature's body was enveloped by purple crystals. Its black tinted scales seemed unnatural… It was the Brutal Black Dragon, Decel!
Kei's head begins to ache upon the sight of this beast…
Kei: "D-dragon!?" he yells
Kei rushes into the battle without a second thought.
Libera: "No wait! You idiot!" She shouts in concern
Kei was too far gone to hear Libera's warning
Libera: "...I have to make sure the people are safe first" She whispers
The dragon attacks Tenert with its massive talon
Clash!
The large muscular man stands his ground with his huge blade in hand
*Dash*
Kei springs into action and clashes with the dragon's next incoming talon
"Hard hit!" he yells as he attempts to push back the dragon's attack
His blade sets a blaze for a moment and sparks appear upon impact.
Tenert: "Kei!?" He yells in confusion and worry
Kei is then knocked out of the air due to the dragon's overwhelming strength.=
Crash!
He slams into the ground creating a massive dust cloud and a crater upon impact
Tenert: "Kei!" He yells
The dragon then suddenly halts his attacks for a brief moment and looks in the direction of the dust cloud.
What was up with that fly that just attacked his talon? Something felt weird about that puny, weak, little fly. The dragon then instinctively takes a step towards the crater.
Virgo: "Power Shot!" He yells
A blue aura surges around Virgo as he blasts a dense ball of magic towards the dragon
Boom!
The dragon's advance is stopped by a powerful shot in its back from Virgo's gun.
Tenert then jumps in the air!
"Die you beasts!" he yells as his blade erupts violently in flames.
Clash!
The dragon uses its talon to block the attack, almost losing a piece of it in the process.
"Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!" he yells, giving his all into the attack
The dragon then reinforces its its stance to add more power to it's attack
This sends Tenert flying away at incredible speeds
Crash!
And crashing into a nearby rock structure!
…
Libera: "That's all of them, get them to safety immediately!" She says sternly
She gathers up the 7 seven refugees and tells her 2 other caravan members to get them to safety. She then turns her attention to the dragon to see that it was now approaching Virgo.
Tenert was nowhere to be found and Kei was on the ground lying in a crater on his back seemingly unconscious.
Her aura erupts and the visage of a purple tiger hovers over body!
*Dashes*
She utters a piercing shout as she rushes at the dragon to help her brother
Whoosh!
She jumps high in the air
Bam!
She delivers a powerful spinning kick to the chest, causing a miniature shockwave to be created upon impact
*Crack*
The dragon's chest is now left with a visible and cleary painful dent
However, it shows no signs of pain
Virgo: "Get out of there, Libera!" He yells
The dragon's massive hand inches closer to Libera while mid air
Whack!
Libera is swatted by the dragon and sent hurling towards the ground at immense speeds.
If she collides with the ground she's certainly going to die.
In that split moment, this realization comes to Virgo
Virgo: "Nooo!" He lets out a visceral scream upon seeing his sister swatted
Kei's body is instinctively enveloped by sparks of red lightning for the briefest of moments
Right before she splatters into the ground-
WHOOSH!
Kei's body moves to the right and he catches her!
Crash!
The two are sent crashing into the ground together, creating a massive dust cloud and crater…
*Splits*
As if a blade had cut through, the dust cloud splits apart, revealing Libera who was safely in the arms of a bloodied Kei. He stands holding Libera in one hand and points his sword straight at the dragon.
Kei: "…Come at me you bastard" He says as his breath shallows and his eyes droop
Libera, who was almost knocked out on impact, finally looks up at Kei. She finds herself in his arms as he struggles to even stand.
Libera: "You saved me…" She whispers
Thump!
Suddenly her attention is brought back to the beast as it plants it's foot towards them
*Glows*
A bright red magic circle forms in front of Virgo's gun.
His body is enveloped in a blue light once again as a massive beam of energy is fired at the dragon.
"Die you Bastard! Power shot!" He shouts in anger
Boom!
Virgo: "A direct hit!" He shouts
Debris is flared up from the impact of the attack…
Whoosh!
The Dragon flies up into the air with smoke billowing off it's wings
Virgo: "Damned thing just keeps on coming! It's like it doesn't feel pain! he says in frustration
Just then, the rocks that Tenert was sent flying into begin to melt away.
He stands bloodied as his body is now engulfed in flames.
"Sonic Blade!" He shouts as his body moves at blinding speeds towards the dragon.
Swoosh!
He breaks the sound barrier moving at Mach 1!
*Stabs*
His blade cuts into the dragon's belly slightly and knocks it out the sky
Crash!
Libera: "C-captain, you're alright!" She says as she coughs up some blood
Tenert: "Ofcourse I am, did you really think your old man would kick the bucket that easily!? Hahahahahahaha!" he says proudly as he lands
Libera: "This is not the time to joke about stuff like that!" she says worriedly
Tenert: "Oh yeah…? If not now, then when? I believe you should laugh in the face of an insurmountable obstacle. I have no idea if i'll even make it to tomorrow so why not laugh right now while I can?" He says boldly with a chuckle
Kei looks as if he could keel over at any moment, but he stands tall beside Libera. His eyes widened at the man's words.
Virgo runs over and hugs Libera tightly
Virgo: "I thought for sure you were dead, what a relief…" he says shakily
Libera embraces her brother for a moment.
Virgo: "T-thank you Kei! You saved her life" he says happily
Libera: "...Now's not the time for this Virgo. We're in the middle of a life or death battle" she says trying to pry her brother off
Virgo: "If not now, then when?" He asks
He squeezes his sister tightly in his embrace
Kei gives Virgo the same look of admiration he had just given Tenert…
The dragon slowly begins to rise back to its feet…
Teenert: "Hey boy! You said you'd beat this thing right!?" he says with gusto
Kei: "Huh? What are you talking about? I never said th-"
Tenert: "Then go on ahead, escape from here. Get strong enough, and when you do… You find this bastard and put it 6 feet under!" He says as he purposely cuts off Kei's sentence
Kei: "R-run away!?" He questions
Virgo: "It's called retreat. The four of us together aren't strong enough to beat this thing, you'd just be wasting your life trying to fight it with us. You two should escape… we'll buy you the time you need." he says casually
Libera: "The two of us…?" She questions confused
Virgo: "Yes, there's still things only we can do, like getting those people safely to Sofya city" he answers
Libera: "B-but I-"
Tenert: "No 'buts' Libera, do as he says!" he commands
…Libera, with tear-filled eyes, grabs Kei's hand and drags him with her.
Kei: "Hey wait, what are you doing? We can't run away like this!" he argues
Libera: "Shut up, just shut up already!" She yells with tears building up
The two watch as Kei and Libera make their escape. They then turn around to face the harbinger of death before them…
Tenert: "Ha! You know I'd prefer if you escaped with them, right?"
Virgo: "Of course old man. But I made a promise didn't I? I'd either kill you or die with you"
Tenert: "After all these years… I guess this is retribution for my sins in the past" He says before laughing hysterically

Kei: "Libera, what the hell do you think you're doing?!" He shouts in anger
Libera: "...I'm sorry Kei, but I can't leave my family behind to die like this. I'd rather die by their side than let it happen" She says softly
Kei's consciousness slowly fades in and out. Libera hands him over to one of the caravan's members and gives him some instructions.
Libera: "...Goodbye Kei, The last month has really been fun, but i'm afraid that this is where our story together ends. I know you'll do your best to protect and guide those people to Sofya… Please think about us often, okay?" she whispers to him as tears stream down her face
Kei: "No, don't go. Please…" he begs as he is about to pass out from all the damage he took earlier
She runs off right as his consciousness completely fades…

Virgo, who was about to be pierced by the dragon's claw, is saved by his sister's intervention.
Clash!
She kicks the claw away.
Virgo: "What the hell are you doing back here? I told you to run!" he shouts
Libera: "There's nowhere else I'd rather be right now, except here with you, brother, father…" she says
She lets out a tear filled smile towards Virgo as the dragon's fist hovers above her head. Virgo can do nothing but smile and cry at his sister's last words.
Virgo: "Dad… Please… help us!" he shouts and pleads in sorrow
Tenert lay in a pool of his own blood on top of some rocks a few meters away…
The dragon slowly approaches Virgo who looks up at the monster in devastation and despair…
