Hello Readers! And Happy October! This story idea of mine came to me when I was rewatching some Godzilla movies around October a few years back. It was when I was pondering what a humanized Godzilla would look like that I realized: Monster High was missing a BIG name among the famous monsters whose children attended the school. And so, this story was conceived. Now, as some of you may have noted in my polls, Godzilla and the rest of the kaiju cast will be humanized in this story. And, I won't be sticking to strictly one version of Godzilla or another. As the tag states, this Godzilla is Godzilla Jr. and will be a custom version of him that I thought up. Be prepared to see characters from various parts of the Godzilla mythos. Be it from Toho, Legendary, or even Tristar, I can assure you that you'll see familiar faces all around. On the Monster High end, I was planning on sticking with Generation 1 since it's the most recognizable. As for why I've started writing this story now? Well, just consider this me getting into the Halloween spirit! Now, one final note before getting to the story proper… who should I ship Junior with? (Feel free to leave suggestions in the reviews! But NO. HAREM. Please.)
Frankie Stein could barely contain her excitement. She'd finally turned sixteen! Yes, sixteen whole days alive in this world, and off to the next great stage of her life: High school. And to top it all off, she would be attending a school that prided itself on preparing its students to coexist with humans. Monster High.
"Oooh, I can't wait for Summer to end!" Frankie squealed with delight. "I can just see it now! All the different guys and ghouls I'll get to meet. Werewolves, vampires, ghosts…"
Frankie then looked thoughtfully to a notebook with the name Victor Frankenstein written on it.
"Maybe I might even meet one of those legendary monsters you met, Grandpa." Frankie mused quietly as she flipped the notebook open to a particular entry: Kaiju. And she couldn't help but read the entry aloud.
"Out of all the breeds of monster that roam this world, few have roamed as long as the kaiju. Though they might be dwarfed in size by the like of minotaurs or centaurs, do not be fooled. They possess the power to level entire cities. But despite that universal constant among their kind, no two kaiju are completely alike. Some are insectoid, some mammalian, some even dinosaur-like. Besides obvious traits such as scales, fur, etc., these differences are made fully manifest when Kaiju call upon their power. They are clad in armor that greatly resembles the type of beast they are."
Frankie flipped though a couple of pages containing sketches of kaiju with their power. Each one had a unique armor that resembled some sort of gigantic creature.
"Though I have not encountered many kaiju, I can safely say that the ones in our world are as various as they come. Some have a hostile view towards humans. A shame, but I cannot fault them since humans readily fear that which is unknown and different. But there are also Kaiju who have a fondness for humans. One seemed to have a whole following of humans that she existed as a guardian of sorts. But, even among these titans, HE stands atop the peak."
Frankie flipped the page excitedly and was amazed at the next sketch. What was most notable about this sketch in particular was that it was in color. It depicted a powerful figure clad in charcoal-grey armor that greatly resembled some kind of dinosaur. The helm of the armor appeared to resemble a dinosaur's head with two "ears" toward the back. But there were two distinct features that were not part of the armor. Three rows of maple leaf-shaped spines that protruded from the figure's back, and the long tail that seemed like it would start whipping about the page any moment.
"First appearing in 1954, this creature quickly made it known that the kaiju were no myth. A lesson that, unfortunately, humanity paid the price for when he raided Tokyo. I had not witnessed this Kaiju's rampage myself, but I certainly found myself very familiar with his son, who had succeeded him. But in contrast to his father, younger kaiju took to defending the people of Japan. If some of the stories of his exploits are to be believed, the whole world, too. Unfortunately, like his father, he soon passed on as well. And now, I wonder if we will see a third of this bloodline appear some time. But no matter what generation the creature represents, the people of Japan know them all by only one name: Gojira. Or, Godzilla, translated to our language. And from tales of this creature's exploits, I can only come to one conclusion: He is most worthy of the title we humans have bestowed upon him. King of the Monsters."
"King of the Monsters… " Frankie whispered as she closed the notebook. And prepared to turn in for the night. "Well Grandpa, I hope that there is another Godzilla out there. Somewhere…"
Tokyo, Japan
It was a beautiful day in Tokyo. With the sun out and summer drawing to a close, it was the perfect time to enjoy the beach. Or at least, it would have been if the beach weren't currently being terrorized by a cranky crustacean.
"OPPRESSORS!" A man with big, snapping claws clad in red armor that resembled a jumbo shrimp. "You shall feast on my brethren no more! So swears Ebirah! Sovereign of Shellfish!"
"Somebody call the Self-Defense Force!" One man cried out as people began fleeing the beach.
Ebirah began smashing this claws into the ground, causing shockwaves that sent people tumbling into the sand. One person unfortunate enough to be right in Ebirah's path was a young boy. A fact that Ebirah took notice of.
"So, how does it feel?" Ebirah cackled as he snapped his claws menacingly. "Now it's you humans who can be considered shrimpy!"
The boy was frozen with fear as Ebirah prepared to strike , but was blasted away by a stream of blue fire!
"AAAGH!" Ebirah howled in pain as he rolled onto the sand! His body steaming from the blast.
As the self-proclaimed "shellfish sovereign" was wailing in pain, the beach goers paid rapt attention to the ocean. More specifically, what was rising from it. Three rows of maple-shaped spines cut through the water and rapidly approached the beach before the figure attached to them rose to his full height. The newcomer was clad in charcoal-grey armor. The armor's chestplate resembled that of a dinosaur's chest while the helmet resembled a head with two little horn-like "ears" pointing toward the back. The feet resembled that of dinosaur, too with the gauntlets of the armor having claw-like projections. Apart from the spines, the only other dinosaur-like feature on the figure was the tail tapping against the ocean's surface. As if tapping a finger against a table when growing frustrated.
"You've got a lot of nerve, Ebirah." The young man spoke. His orange eyes boring into the crustacean kaiju with a scowl seemingly etched onto his face. "Here these people are, trying to enjoy their summer, and you have to come along and wreck their day. No wonder so many humans are eager to turn their weapons on us. But picking on a kid? That's just low. Not to mention, don't you eat shrimp? Kinda contradictory if you ask me."
Ebirah was frozen in fear as he beheld his attacker. "G-G-G-Gg-!"
"GODZILLA!" The crowd of humans cried out in awe.
"Well, these people came here to barbeque." Godzilla grunted as he adopted a fighting stance. "HOW ABOUT I KICK IT OFF WITH SOME FRIED SHRIMP!"
