Star Fox Adventures - Dark Ice mines (Night)

"What do you mean you lost track of him?! Where has he gone now? Do you even understand what will happen if we don't get those ships under our control? If the Arwings fall into the wrong hands, it could be catastrophic!"

"I-I'm sorry General Pepper, sir… We had him pinned down in a city on Macbeth, but he got away from our agents in the area. When we saw him next he was exiting the atmosphere at full speed, we had no chance of catching up to him in his Arwing…"

"He must be traveling by use of the Great Fox, otherwise he'd have run out of supplies by now. That ship is big, how are you supposed to convince me that you lost sight of it?" The old dog groaned in irritation, clasping his paws together in front of his mouth, eyes narrowed.

"My guess, sir? The Great Fox must contain some form of warp capabilities. Otherwise, I cannot explain it sir. We had him pinned, ships following from a distance as he fled to an asteroid belt. My team followed him in, but we couldn't find any evidence that he'd even been there in the first place…" The soldier explained tersely, face grim.

"This is absurd! How hard is it to pin down one measly fox? He should have made some mistake by now, he can't be that slippery…" The old dog sighed, leaning back in his oversized black seat.

"You did hire him to take down Andross…" The soldier murmured pointedly.

Thankfully, the old hound didn't hear him.

"It seems I must change my tactics. You are dismissed. Return to your post, and keep me informed of any sightings. Fox won't stay hidden for long…" Pepper sighed, shooing the soldier out of his office.

"Sir, yes sir!" The younger dog saluted, before quickly leaving the room.

Pepper sighed, sinking into his seat. He turned his attention out his window, staring at the Cornerian metropolis below his tower.

His city…

His people were at peace…

At least for now.

But if those ships, the Arwings were to fall into the hands of someone like Andross? If someone terrible gained control of those fighters, then he felt as if he could kiss peace in the Lylat system goodbye forever.

"Fox, you foolish pup… You should have taken my offer when you had the chance…" He muttered to himself, his face grim…

He knew Krystal was the Queen of a planet full of foxes, but this…

This was crazy…

After being led outside the palace gates, he found himself riding atop creatures that he could only imagine were related to dragons, the monsters walking on all fours as they descended the mountain path as a speed that easily surpassed anything he could reach on foot.

Krystal couldn't help but giggle at his childlike wonder as he held on for dear life as the land dragons practically flew down the mountain, his eyes wide as he took in the city below.

"I didn't know you had dragons!" He called out, laughing in glee as the beast they rode upon ran forth.

Krystal laughed behind him, wrapping her arms a little tighter around his bare waist. "Of course darling, my people have tamed all of the creatures on this planet. We use these ones for quick travel throughout the kingdom." She explained easily, patting the scaled backside of the beast. The dragon purred in delight under the attention.

"This is amazing Krystal!" Fox exclaimed in genuine surprise. Feeling her presence behind him, he leaned backwards a tad to seek her physical presence once more. She nuzzled into his neck, her warm breath sending shivers down his spine.

He was content to sit there and enjoy the ride for what it was, watching as the world of the foxes below quickly got closer and closer. He found a genuine smile forming on his lips as they descended into the massive city, passing through a large gateway which led directly into the city.

Now…

He knew that her being the Queen of the largest city on the planet meant that it was sure to be busy once he got into the center, but he had no idea just how many mammals actually called the place home until he'd passed through the gates.

As the palace faded into the distance behind him, he suddenly found himself surrounded on all sides by foxes of all different species, hundreds, thousands even, all going about their daily lives.

He let the attendant leading the dragon direct them around as he found it difficult to take in the vastness of the city.

"Lady Krystal! Good morning, your highness!"

"Ah, the Queen greets us with her presence once more! Today will surely be a wonderful day indeed!"

"You look as lovely as always, my Queen."

"Make way, the Queen approaches!"

The comments came in the numbers of hundreds, everyone who caught sight of the blue furred vixen stopping to offer their respects and wish her well.

However, the attention was quickly drawn to him when the people began to notice the fact that he was no ordinary fox.

In fact, dressed as he was in royal garb, he was the spitting image of the image of the great hero of Cerinia. Of course, once one fox noticed, the news quickly spread to the furthest corners of the city.

The Hero of Cerinia had finally returned, and it seemed as if the Queen had finally taken him for herself.

"My my, Fox, it seems as if my people have taken a liking to you." Krystal cooed teasingly, pressing a tender kiss to the side of his exposed neck. He groaned lightly at her touch, coming to the realization that Krystal had zero qualms against open public displays of affection towards him.

"W-Well, that's nice. Better than hating me." He joked, breath hitching as she began nibbling a certain spot on his neck that had his face turning red in record speed.

"Mmm… The attention is making me jealous, perhaps I should do something about it…?" She said lowly, voice dipping into something sensual. Her paws which had been resting on his chest began to dip lower, teasing his inner thighs as she ran her digits around a particularly sensitive spot.

"K-Krystal… N-Not here…" He groaned lowly, sounding out of breath.

"Oh? Are you quite sure? Your words speak one story, while something else speaks another." She cooed, before suddenly pulling away, wrapping her arms around his chest again. "I'm only teasing dear, do not worry yourself." She giggled, humming happily as she rest against his back.

His expression faltered as she pulled away, her teasing having left him more than thoroughly frustrated down there, something impossible to hide given the fact that all that covered him was a white and gold loin cloth.

He just hoped that by the time they had to get off the dragon that he'd calmed down…

As the sun began to find its resting place on the opposite horizon, Fox knew that the day was drawing to a close. As much as he would love to continue it, he knew it was time to retire to the palace.

After entering the city, Krystal dragged him all across her kingdom.

At first they visited a very popular place for food, and after seeing her eager face he couldn't resist joining her. After there, they ventured off to the shopping district, and he remembered getting lost in the sea of shops for hours on end.

Mammals left and right were offering items and clothes to him, so much that he had to start refusing the offers lest he find himself weighed down to the ground in gifts.

Apparently being married to the Queen made him special, who knew?

At one point he was approached by a group of young vixens who invited their hero to a gathering at their private residence. He remembered politely turning them down, only to nearly get pulled along anyway as they proved themselves to be more than a little pushy.

Thankfully Krystal had been close enough to come and save him from his fate, but he couldn't understand why she didn't seem offended by what the other vixens had suggested.

Either way, by the end of the day he was tired and exhausted, and the thought of returning to her bed was more than enough to warrant his expedited return to the top of the mountain.

He found himself holding his beautiful vixen to his chest as they rode the land dragon back up the mountains, his eyes dipping slightly as the events of the day began to catch up with him. Yet, he couldn't hide the smile on his maw as he sat quietly, pleased with how their day had gone.

"You seem to be happy, Darling. Is there anything on your mind?" She asked, turning to glance at him from where she was comfortably sitting in his lap.

He smiled at her. "I'm just… taking it all in, I guess? I'm just so used to war and the constant fighting that I guess I'm not that good at relaxing. My mind is always over-analyzing everything, even now… I guess I just don't know how to step back and let it all go…" He hummed in thought, distracted by the events playing out in his head. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be out spaced out here. I really do like it here with you." He apologized, offering her a small genuine smile.

"Please don't apologize to me… I don't blame you, Darling…" Krystal asked softly, nuzzling up against his chin. "You come from a different world, a life so different from my own, it would be selfish of me to believe you could acclimate so soon." She said quietly, before pressing her lips to his in a short yet pleasant kiss. "Come, let us retire to my bedroom for the night. We may worry about all else on the morrow." She said decidedly.

Fox smiled. "Your bed sounds wonderful right now…" He hummed deeply, holding her tightly to his chest.

Slowly, his eyes opened, the early morning light gently tickling the tips of his ears. He sucked in a slow drawn out breath through his nose, an action that quickly evolved into a blinding yawn.

He rolled over, slowly taking notice of the fact that his bed was empty. Blinking in confusion, he sat up only to find that he was indeed alone.

A strange sense of anxiety overcame him suddenly with such an intensity that it threatened to overwhelm him. He had no idea why his body suddenly felt so panicked, but he couldn't help the pain in his heart when he realized that he was alone.

Wing blew through the open window, shifting his sheets to reveal where Krystal had once slept.

But she was no longer there, and for some reason he didn't quite understand, that made his heart rate spike wildly.

However, before he could devolve into a full blown panic, he remembered his military training and tried to gain a hold on his emotions. It helped somewhat after a long strenuous moment, but when he was finally calmed enough to think clearly, he tried to focus on the room around him.

Through a curious sniff of the air, his nose quickly caught onto her scent. His attention was drawn to her pillow, the object smelling so heavily of her that he could've been fooled into thinking she was said pillow. Without thinking, he picked the object up, pressing his nose to it. Her scent flooded his nostrils like a raging river, and he found his anxiety fading away as if it had never been there to begin with.

Once his heart had calmed down significantly, he found it much easier to focus.

The strange reaction aside, he decided to pretend like what had occurred was just a random thing, and prayed it wouldn't happen again. After all, he had a vixen to track down, and he wasn't going to get anything done laying about in bed all day.

So, with that thought in mind, he crawled out of bed, making sure to put on his loin cloth before he left the room.

He'd been there for over a week now, and this was the first time he had not woken up with her by his side.

He poked his head out into the hallway of the palace, looking for his blue furred wife.

He was still getting used to the fact that he could call her that.

"Lord McCloud, I presume you are interested in the whereabouts of Lady Krystal?"

Fox didn't have to go far before a familiar looking grey vixen approached him, greeting him with a question.

"Ah yeah, she didn't tell me she was leaving. Where'd she go?" He muttered, stifling a yawn.

"As you know, our fair Queen is the leader of this world. As such, she is a very busy vixen. Early into the morning we received a request for her presence at an unexpected meeting between visiting chieftains." She explained lightly, offering to take his hand as she directed him down the hall.

"Chieftains? You mean from other countries?" Fox easily took her hand, allowing himself to be dragged around as she saw fit. It was another thing he'd difficulty adjusting to was the fact that the attendants here took great pride and pleasure in offering him their services as much as possible, and turning them down at every opportunity would only serve to offend and discourage them.

So as much as he despised being led by the hand, washed like he was incapable of cleaning himself, and standing in place as vixens attended to and pampered him, he took it all in stride to keep the peace.

It wasn't easy, but it was the culture of Krystal's people, and he wasn't going to go and trample it because it made him uncomfortable.

There was a few lines he was yet to cross, but he was sure it would come to a head sooner rather than later.

Perhaps his upbringing in a quote unquote normal society had him trained to think and act like a typical mammal would, but the idea of open and blatant disregard for modesty was probably the hardest thing he had to adapt to.

Hell, his first night there he had to convince the attendants washing him that he didn't want them to help…

W-Well…

Help get him off, so to speak.

They had all seemed eager to help do so for him, and it had taken some convincing and a bit of lying to get them to leave him be…

For the time being anyway.

He'd not the chance to ask Krystal about it yet, but seeing as the attendants said that they were simply trying to follow the orders of their Queen, he'd deduced that this sort of thing was considered normal treatment for whoever was king…

Yeah…

Definitely going to take some getting used to…

"Yes, my lord. Although she is the Queen of Cerinia, she cannot oversee the affairs of the entire planet. As such, she has chieftains that rule over the differing countries. Even then, her word goes as law, and when troubles arise they come seeking her wisdom and advice on certain matters. I am sure she will be on her way there shortly, yet as for now she is being attended to by her servants."

"Will she be alright on her own?" He felt stupid asking if she could handle her own personal business, but he was her husband after all. He was supposed to be interested in these things right?

What kind of husband would he be if he let her do everything on her own while he laid in bed all day while her attendants tended to his needs…?

"You know, I'm going to go with her." He said decidedly, moving to seek her out.

The grey vixen raised an eyebrow in question, the quirking of her lips missed by him. "Of course my lord. By now she should be in the courtyard preparing for the trip. You should be able to catch her if you are swift."

Not needing to be told twice, Fox was off to join his wife.

Let it not be said that he didn't want to be left alone all day in her palace surrounded by her decidedly horny attendants who couldn't keep their paws to themselves.

He ran outside, finding said blue furred vixen only moments away from leaving the palace gates. "K-Krystal!" He called out, waving for her to stop.

She stopped just seconds short from climbing atop her ground dragon, glancing over to him as he ran her way. "Oh? Good morning Darling, you are up early. Is everything alright? Have the attendants informed you of my plans today?" She asked in worry, reaching out to take his paws as he reached her. "Are you- mmph-?!" She tried to ask, only to be silenced by his lips as he enveloped her in a passionate embrace, moaning into her maw as he stole her breath away.

When he finally pulled away, he offered her a smile. "I'm fine Krystal, don't worry about me. I was wondering actually, would it be possible if I could tag along?" He soothed her worries.

"O-Oh? Are you sure Darling? These meetings can be long and arduous, I'm not sure you will quite enjoy them." Krystal asked quietly.

"I may not enjoy them, and I've never really liked meetings of any kind either, but I'm your husband right? I want to come with you, show you my support." He said genuinely.

Her eyes widened in surprise, before she started tearing up. "Oh Fox, that means so much to me to hear you say that." She cooed, rubbing her thumb against his cheek. "It is the duty of the Queen to handle the affairs of her kingdom, so do not feel inclined to help. I just want you to be happy."

He looked puzzled. "W-Well… I'm married to you, doesn't that make me the king?" He asked uncertainly.

"Yes of course dear. That is why you stay in the palace, I'm sure my attendants will be overjoyed to keep you company in my absence." Krystal explained happily.

Swallowing thickly, he asked his next question. "So… What does the king do in your kingdom?"

"I just explained that, Darling. The palace is your home, my servants are more than excited to accommodate your every wish and desire, so please do not hold back with them." She said with a smile.

''She really meant that… The Queen does do everything around here…'' He thought to himself. ''Well, that's about to change.'' He decided. "I want to come with you. Even if it is not my place to assist you with your kingdom, I wish to be there by your side. Can you accommodate that wish for me…? Please?" He asked seriously, holding her paws with his own.

She was surprised by his overwhelming response of duty to her, and the fact that he would rather stay by her side then relax all day.

He'd saved the Lylat system, and her entire planet.

Wasn't that enough?

Didn't he deserve everything already?

Yet…

If he was going to insist on joining her side, she supposed that she wouldn't stop him. "Yes, yes of course Darling. I won't stop you from joining me…" He said softly, smiling at his desire to stay with her. "However, my personal dragon has only one saddle. How will you join me?" She asked curiously.

Fox's eyes widened, before he grinned. "Hey, how about this. What if we ride in the Arwing?" He said excitedly, motioning to the ship behind him.

"O-Oh? Are you sure? I-I mean, I wouldn't want to encroach upon your possessions. I know how important she is to you." Krystal tried to talk him out of it, yet he could hear her excitement about the prospect of flying through the skies.

"Come on, it'll be fine. I'll treat you well, I fly slow, I promise." He urged, gently pulling her towards it.

She seemed to contemplate it for a moment, before relenting. "Oh alright, if you insist." She said with a smile as she allowed him to lead her over.

"Now, it's going to be a bit of a tight fit." He muttered in embarrassment, realizing that the ship was made for only one occupant.

"Oh, I certainly don't mind…" The blue furred vixen cooed lowly, breath tickling his ear from behind.

Repressing a delighted shiver, he clambered aboard the star fighter. The cockpit opened at his approach, allowing him to quickly climb inside. Once in he offered her his paw. "Come on, I got you." He said gently.

Although she was nervous at the idea of being in the air, his presence and calming voice was more than enough for her. She took hold of his paw, letting him pull her up. He sat in the cockpit, and she slid right into his lap, hind paws resting atop his own. She shivered when his arms snaked their way around her waistline, sneaking a feel before reaching for the controls in front of her.

"Okay, I hope you're ready! This will be a blast!" Fox laughed, powering on the engine. The cockpit window lowered, sealing them both inside. The Arwing, still in walker mode, stood up. Fox turned the ship towards the front gates, stepping down from the palace doors and to a more availably open space.

"F-Fox I am nervous!" Krystal muttered quietly, eyes wide. Her worries were soothed somewhat when he pressed his lips to the side of her neck, distracting her from the world around them.

"Don't worry, I know exactly what I'm doing. At any point if you feel uncomfortable, I'll land us and I'll walk us the rest of the trip." He comforted.

"O-Okay… I trust you." She said, unable to hide her anxiety.

"Don't worry, I've got you in my arms. It's all going to be OK." He said confidently.

The thrusters on the underside of the walker kicked on, propelling them gently into the air. Once he was sure he'd gained significant enough height from the ground, he initiated the transformation into flight mode.

Krystal squeaked as the cockpit shifted about, and she suddenly found herself in a flying vessel, the ship having completely changed around her.

"Here we go!" Fox cried out in excitement.

The Arwing shot forward, streaming past the palace gates. Within seconds they were thousands of feet above the city, the palace fading into the clouds behind them.

Krystal found herself at a loss for words, looking at her world, her kingdom from an entirely different perspective then she ever thought possible.

Fox soared ever higher, passing through the clouds far above.

"Oh my…" Krystal breathed in awe, eyes glued to world outside. The ship swung around, allowing her to get a better view of the land far, far below.

This high up, her palace looked like a spec of dust upon the surface of the planet.

"It's so beautiful…" She whispered.

Fox laughed lightly in amusement behind her, smiling as he nuzzled against her exposed neck. She let out a breathy sigh, leaning into his touch.

They didn't say anything after that for a while, the vixen content to let him drag her all across the skies of her world.

Eventually, however, the fun had to draw to a close. As much as Krystal wanted to stay up in the clouds for a while longer, she knew she must attend the counsel meeting. So, with that in mind, she directed Fox to the meeting place.

After that, she found immense comfort in leaned back into his embrace for the rest of the flight…
