It began like any other day in Adventure City. The Paw Patrol Heading out to a rescue, people being saved, just the norm here. That's when I come back home every day. Being a pup has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages. My favorite is the smell. It's the same smell every single day, even though I know it doesn't mean anything to anyone. But what makes my heart pound is that it is a scent. A smell that has been in my family for generations and has never been forgotten, that is so familiar that even my parents can't forget. I can't imagine how they would forget it. And it makes me feel safe. Safe in a way that I never feel in the city. I feel like I'm home, and that's a very good feeling.
The only thing is, I have to be careful. Because I don't know what I'll be doing when I get home. What I want to do is go to bed, but I can never sleep. That's what makes this scent so comforting. My dad's always telling me that I have to be brave, because it will be a big day. He's right. So I will do what it takes. The scent will guide me, it'll help me find my way, I won't be alone. There will always be someone with me. My family. They'll always know where I am. When the Paw Patrol comes, they'll know. That is the scent that I need to find. To find a way home to my own family.
I was just getting home when my parents greeted me like usual. "Hi son," my dad said as he was watching TV. "Hi Henry," my mom said as she was cooking in the kitchen. Since my parents are dogs, my mom is always cooking, so I was surprised to hear my mother say 'Henry' that I stammered. My mom looked at me with a confused face. "Henry?" she said. Then she looked back at the food she was cooking. I was looking right back. I was not looking anywhere else. When my mom said my name, she meant it. My name was in her mouth.
She had said it with a smile on her face and a warm, familiar smile. I smiled back, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to smile back. What was the right thing to do? I knew my face was red from shock, so I went to my room. My room had a dog bed, posters of the Paw Patrol scattered on the walls, a chest for my dog toys, and a bookshelf with books on it. I went to work on something I was creating, it was a watch that could cover yourself in a holographic image you wanted. It was really cool. Then I went to bed for the night.
