My name is Delia prior . My parent are both the leader of abnegation: Andrew and Natalia prior . I also have two sisters and a brother whose name are :Beatrice ， Maria and Caleb prior . Beatrice and Caleb are 6 years old younger than me but maria is 7 years old younger than me .
We born in a city called Chicago. The city was built after a Hundred Years' War . The purpose is to protect the survivors and their kids . Our ancestors also established the faction systems: Abnegation ， erudite ， dauntless ， Candor and amity.
Every faction have their own purpose :abnegation provides us with selfless leaders in government， erudite provides us with technologies and teachers， dauntless provides us with protection within and without， Candor provides us with soundly leaders in law and amity provides us with counselors and caretakers . Without any of them， our society can't function properly.
I am 16 years old this year so I have to choose a faction. I can either choose to leave abnegation or stay in abnegation. However if I really choose to leave ， then that means I forsake my family permanently.
"Delia ， it is time to cut your hair ." Ted is calling me . He is my body guard from dauntless .
I walk downstair . My mom is already standing in front of the mirror . She is so pretty. She has pinky and dimple cheek. Her body is curvy and slim. However that she has to hide those beauty in abnegation otherwise it is against the faction norm.
"Sit down please ." Mom smiles at me
I sit down in front of the mirror . Today is the second day of every third month that I can look into my reflection. Abnegation values selflessness and requires us to forget ourselves but I suspect that I can ever do that.
My mom carefully trims my hair and my hair falls on the floor in the blond dull ring. Then my mom slides the panel off
"That's enough." Mom says
"Thank you for cutting my hair ." I nod at her
She kisses my cheek. She is always this caring.
"How are you ready for the test tomorrow? Abby will come to our house today right?" Mom brushes my hair
"Yes she will." I smile
Abby is my friend since when I was small , we play together at school and then my parent get to know her as well. Even my father hates erudite but Abby can be an exception.
We walk downstair and Caleb and dad are making breakfast. Actually it is just Caleb but my dad tried to help with everyone . It makes me uncomfortable that how natural their selflessness comes out without difficulties and struggle .
Someone is knocking on the door . Ted walks to the door and opens it. Abby comes in with tears in her eyes
"God what's wrong Abby?" I am worried about her
"Can we talk privately?" She asks
"Yeah sure , I can bring our foods into living room." I look at dad. "Can I do it."
Dad and mom nod at me . I help Abby take the plates into living room and we sit beside each other and start eating. Abby scoops the eggs up and bites it.
"You know the leader of dauntless max right?"abby bites her lips
"Yeah I know him. I heard from my mom." I shrug
"He confessed to me twice already." Abby shakes her head . "I don't like him. Even though I already broke up with Eric . I still don't like him."
Max confessed to Abby! Why ? Abby is Jeanine Matthew's niece . Can that be one of the reason why he likes her so he can work closer with her auntie
"Yeah I know that. He is too old for you and anyway I really suspect the real reasons behind it." I narrow my eyes
"Why do you think that?" Abby says
"I think the reason why he likes you because he can work closer with your auntie without any excuses." I sigh
Abby doesn't know how awful max can be . She just doesn't like him.
"I don't think that max will betray dauntless because he is the mafia boss." Abby's voice is super low
"That position gives him the best cover up abby. He is the leader of dauntless so no one will suspect him. He and your auntie are looking for something." I say
"What are they looking for ?" Abby asks
I don't know how to say. I just heard from my mom talking to my father
"Someone who are dangerous and they are trying to find out who are they and killed them" I say.
"That's impossible . Max is the best leader for dauntless ever in history. He was the one who change the manifesto of dauntless into we believe in the ordinary act of bravery" Abby's face turns white e
"He maybe used to believe that but now he changes . I don't know ." I shake my head . "Why you don't like him."
I need to know the reason behind her refusal
"I don't like him because the way he was begging me is too cheap and he doesn't like someone who is stable enough to like a girl for a long time." Abby eats all her eggs .
"Yeah I know that Abby. You don't need to cry." I hug her .
"I feel so guilty about that." Abby hugs me too
Abby is very kind . He is too kind to be erudite
"You don't need to . You are not abnegation or amity. You are erudite though. Anyway why you broke up with Eric ." I frown
"He was abusive . He throw the vase at me ." Abby sobs.
"God why did he do that?" I am shocked
I know Eric's brother . I and him are best friends so eric is also like my brother . We are same years at school so he will also choose faction this year
"He suspects that I was cheating on him with one of instructor in dauntless." Abby rolls her eyes
"Who is that?" I say
"Amar , last time I went to dauntless with my auntie and mom. I saw him and talk to him for a while . Someone saw and told Eric about it and then he was jealous."Abby says
Yeah a misunderstanding cause a lot of trouble .
"Do you like Amar or not. I think that is reasonable." I smile
"I don't know . He is quiet handsome but I don't know him well." Abby shrugs
"You can leave erudite if you want to go dauntless." I say. "I really love their chaos."
I know that if I go to dauntless, I am betraying my family but I have enough limitation in abnegation. .
"Yeah I know but I don't want leave my mom and dad lone ." Abby shakes her head . "Let's see tomorrow about the aptitude test."
"You don't need to trust the test Abby. You have your free choice." I giggle
"However I am just going to rely on it for reference because I am confused." Abby rests her head on my shoulder
Someone is knocking on the door . Mom comes in with fruit
"I am sorry that we only have the can." Mom apologizes
"You don't need to apologize ms prior . It's good enough." Abby smiles
"Max is coming for dinner . You don't want to be here right?"mom says
My body tensed . Why mom knows max so well
"How did you know max?" I frown
"I am also leader of abnegation. Plus your father has quiet good relationship with dauntless so ." Mom shrugs
I suspect that she is lying . That is not the only reason
"Delia can come with me to erudite . Jason coulter really missed you" Abby holds my hand . "You can come over for dinner."
"Yeah I will." I say
After my mom gives permission, abby drags me out of the house. She is panic
"I really want to go to dauntless but thinking that max is there makes me confused." Abby walks beside me
"Mafia boss doesn't really works with initiates you know that right? So you don't need to worry." I say
"However I am afraid to see him." Abby sighs
I know that abby doesn't want to hurt max's feeling
"You have to walk straight because the more you are scared . The more he thinks that you cared about him." I point at her. "Understand?"
We walk to the bus station. Abby's mom has a car but she used for herself so Abby often takes the bus .
"You don't ride a car?" I ask
"No my mom uses it only ." Abby shakes her head
"Oh all right then." I say
The bus is here and we get on the bus together . We sit together side by side
"Do you know that Jason likes you?" Abby raises his eyebrows
"No , I treat him like a friend." I shake my head
"He told us that he likes you and expects you to choose erudite ." Abby sighs . "He is deadly serious."
I know that Jason is always so serious. That's why he can be the leader
"I know that he is doing everything seriously. I worry that your auntie will take his place ." I say
"She is trying but none of those leaders like her so don't worry" Abby shakes her head . "Even I and my mom don't like her."
Very soon, we get to erudite , I walk beside Abby and into the hall . Jason is talking to some workers
"Delia!" He walks toward us . "Welcome "
"She is here for dinner with me ." Abby rolls her eyes.
"You can come to my house with Abby." Jason smiles widely.
I look at Abby. Jason never smile like that .
"Sure we can come." Abby rolls her eyes again. "Delia you can go to my house first and then we will join mr coulter later."
"Alright." I say
Abby walks me to her house . Eric is waiting
"I want to talk to Abby not stiff ." Eric smirks
"No I am not going to talk to you." Abby pushes him aside
"You rather talk with a stiff?" Eric says coldly.
I know that name was given by Jeanine Matthew in the report.
"Stop calling her that."
