Airman first class Nicholas Monroe and his counterpart from the Canadian and Commonwealth side Corporal Jacques Williams are watching the NORAD Radar in the quiet hours of the early morning, which a skeleton crew is working to make sure nothing will go through them without being detected by the Radar System first.
It has been a quiet night, and now it's going to be a quiet morning, as usual US and Commonwealth Radar and Satellite isn't picking up much in terms of contact, but that doesn't mean that they could be lax on their vigilance, thus the two Airmen are taking turns watching the Radar screen while the other rest a few minutes keep conserve energy.
"Another day, another uneventful day." Nicholas mentioned as he took a sip of his mug of coffee.
"Don't jinx it." Jacques replied as he took a big sip of his mug of coffee.
Just as the mugs reach the table, alarm, and monitor went off, red warning lights, sirens, and idle monitoring systems demanding attention, as the base came alive around them, the usually routine task of watching an early warning grid morphed into the sudden need to identify what exactly had set it off and out what the hell is going on.
"What the hell is going on!"
"Radar and satellite are detecting a massive energy surge in Massachusetts' coastline."
"Something is happening and we are not in the know how!"
"Is it a nuclear attack?!"
"Radiation, seismic, hydroacoustic, and infrasound detection, air sampling, and satellites, aren't detecting any signs of nuclear attacks."
"The White House has been alerted, Ottawa has been informed and every eye in the sky is now heading to the phenomena!"
"The readings are receding! We will have visual confirmation from the Massachusetts Air National Guard!"
Above the skies of Massachusetts an Air National Guard F-15C with Recon Pods rushed towards the anomaly that every satellites and radar has detected, the heavily armed and ladened Eagle flew majestically as it race towards the anomaly, ready for any type of threat that might face it when it face the anomaly.
"This is Wizard 1-1 to Massachusetts Air Command, we have visual on the anomaly." The F-15C Eagle Pilot reported as he saw the anomaly.
The anomaly that is covering the coast, is a massive white dome, it'd shining bright but not bright enough to blind anyone, the F-15 started to circle the dome, letting the Recon Pod to record and send the data back to Massachusetts Air Command, who send it to NORAD which is now live streaming it to the White House Situation Room and the Canadian Emergency Government Headquarters.
From the Canadian Emergency Government Headquarters it continuous to London where COBRA is also monitoring the situation and from London the entire Commonwealth are also monitoring the situation, every Primary Battle Group has been put on alert, and all Strategic and Tactical Bomber formations were now being put on alert for emergency scramble orders, every ballistic missile submarine of the Commonwealth was on station.
In the US, the National Guard has been called up, the US Navy and Coast Guard has immediately sent out a scramble order, all ships still at dock are deployed with whatever crews they could grab and thrown on board and ordered to sail out to sea, the US Air Force has thrown every plane they could into the air and every Silo is on red alert, the US Army has called up everyone including the reserves for this incident.
For the first time in history, the Commonwealth and the United State are on war footing and it is also causing alarms all over the world, the Republic of China followed the Commonwealth stance of going on alert, much of Southeast Asia as well, Europe went on alert, the Russians and People's Republic of China were now confused on what is going on.
For the Troopers of the Massachusetts State Police, this anomaly they found themselves facing is quite perplexing as none of their training actually covered how to deal with this, but with orders from the Governor who probably got the call from the National Guard, who got the call from the Pentagon, they set up roadblocks, checkpoints and quarantine zones.
Then they were supported by local law enforcement who decided to evacuate their towns and counties as elements of the Massachusetts Army National Guard brought up Humvees, APCs, Tanks and Helicopter Gunships, from there the area is sterilized, everyone not law enforcement was evacuated, a massive perimeter was set up with barbwire and sandbags fighting positions being set up.
As the Army National Guard arrived, more cameras and surveillance equipment are now added more to the data stream, as a few USAF RQ-170 Sentinel and RQ-4 Global Hawk arrived to replace the F-15C, as more and more forces of both the US Army and Air Force arrived to support the National Guard the question remains, what is this anomaly.
"MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!" An Army National Guardsmen shouted as they dismounted their transport, bringing with them spools of concertina wire and ammunition.
The area is a sea of red and blue lights of Law enforcement vehicles, nearly the entire state is there, from police to military, helicopters flew by enforcing the lockdown, as National Guardsmen with Public Works personnel work throughout the night setting up everything to secure the perimeter, Jersey barriers, Temporary fencing, barbed wire and sandbags.
By morning light, it looked as if the Wall of Berlin is being rebuilt in Massachusetts as more assets are coming in, more helicopters, police helicopters, Tanks, APCs, Humvees, Logistics Trucks and Troop Trucks arrived this time National Guard from New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont, the sudden increase of National Guardsmen swelled up the number of Guardsmen manning the perimeter.
The anomaly that was covering the coastline is now gone, in its place a city, port and docks, and a bunch of shipwrecks blocking the only way out of the city port, but what got their attention is the oil rig out at the middle of the bay, the oil rig looks high-tech, and for some reason futuristic, unlike the various Commonwealth Sea Forts, the place looked like a everyday American city, if it wasn't for the fact that it looked more like what happens if Detroit failed.
"Yes sir, the anomaly has left a city sir." A Guardsmen reported back.

As the USAF RQ-170 Sentinel and RQ-4 Global Hawk continue to do surveillance and mapping of the unknown city, they saw a convoy of vehicles, leading the convoy is what appears to be a Lenco BearCat only, with green and white emergency lights and a purple racing stripe on it's side, so the operators called it in and watched as more vehicles started to appear, some looked more broken down than others.
Detaching a drone to keep an eye on the vehicles, Perimeter Command called in a couple of gunships to be safe, as they do not know what they are facing, thus the checkpoint the convoy is heading, has a couple of AH-64 Apache Gunships and an OH-58 Kiowa Gunship, while a Police Helicopter acted as the eyes in the sky.
[[This is a restricted area, please remain calm and return to your homes, be warned, anybody attempting to enter or leave the area will be placed under arrest.]] A Speaker looped in repeatedly as the Soldiers, Policemen and State Troopers prepared to greet the convoy approaching the checkpoint.
"Jesus Christ." A PRT Trooper muttered when they arrived at the end of the line, as far as the eye can see, he was seeing temporary fencing supported by Jersey barriers, barbed wire and sandbags, the only way out he could see was the roadblock.
At the roadblock eight Ford Police Interceptor Utility, four from the State Police, four from the towns that had been evacuated are positioned to provide the most cover, as Humvees with gun turrets armed with .50s and stern looking soldiers keep their guns trained on them, then they realized what's is in hidden firing points, buried in sandbags are two Abrams MBT and two Bradley APCs, their guns also trained on them.
"I don't think this was such a good idea." The PRT driver muttered to himself.
Suddenly OH-58 Kiowa Gunship appeared armed with a Hydra Rocket Pod and a .50 Cal Machine Gun appeared and hovered above the roadblock, it's weapons obviously trained on them if they made any sudden hostile movements, the two Apaches flew in a standard holding pattern, obviously ready to jump in if the situation goes south.
[[Halt your vehicles! You are in a restricted area, dismount and identify yourselves, we will fire if fired upon.]] The Gunship ordered the convoy as it hovered threatenly.
The convoy rattled to a stop as the sound of air brakes was heard all over the convoy, the PRT Troopers all look at the roadblock then the Gunship hovering, even if they don't recognized the camouflage or some of the vehicles, they recognized the vehicles and colour scheme as Standard US Army and the Massachusetts State Police, while some aren't that well known, the fact it still has Police symbols on it is enough.
As the PRT Troopers exited their vehicles, they noticed the Policemen and Guardsmen all tense up, then Velocity exited last and they realized everyone on the barricade had tensed up even more, in fact some looked like he's studying the costumed hero until they realized they're being studied by everyone on the barricade.
[[Identify yourself!]] The helicopter gunship ordered them.
