Here it is! The season finale! After this season, I will likely be taking a break to work on some other stories, but I may have an interlude chapter to have Dr. Grant's group finally meet up with Rick's group. That will be considered part of season 2, but please stay tuned for season 3! Thank you to everyone who has continued to be a reader since I started this story in 2014, and for those who stuck around after the rewrites! It means a lot to me that you all enjoy my ideas! Anyways, enjoy the season 2 finale!

Eventually making their way to the highway where Sophia went missing, to just outside the farm. Meanwhile, in a similar fashion, the tyrannosaur is seen eating from the carcass of a long dead stegosaurus; stomping on and swiping its tail at several walkers also trying to feast on the remains of the armored herbivore. Later, the T rex is seen following a flare, and eventually, along with the herd of walkers, follows the sound of a gunshot to its origin...

(Intro)

In the farmhouse a very worried looking group of survivors sits waiting for any sign of the return of their friends. Andrea stands up out of exasperation

"I'm going after them," she said.

"Don't," Lori said. "They could be anywhere. And if Randall comes back, we're gonna need you here," Before anyone could say anything, the door to the farmhouse swung open, and Daryl and Glenn entered swiftly.

"Rick and Shane ain't back?" Daryl asked.

"What about Jacob, Wu and Billy?" Glenn asked.

"No," Lori said. Zach's heart sank and his face was sick with worry.

"We heard a shot," Daryl said.

"Maybe they found Randall," Lori said.

"We found him," Daryl said.

"Is he back in the shed?" Maggie asked.

"He's a walker," Daryl replied, shaking his head.

"Did you find the walker that bit him?" Hershel asked. Glenn shook his head.

"No, the weird thing is he wasn't bit,"

"His neck was broke," Daryl added.

"So he fought back," Patricia said. Daryl just shrugged.

"The thing is, Shane and Randall's tracks were right on top of each other. And Shane ain't no tracker, so he didn't come up behind him. They were together," he said.

"Would you please get back out there, find Rick and Shane and find out what on earth is going on?" Lori asked.

"You got it," Daryl said. Glenn noticed Zach in the corner of the room, and put his hand on his shoulder.

"We'll find Jacob, Zach. And the others," he said. To Glenn's surprise, Zach pulled him in for a hug.

"Thank you," Zach said. Glenn didn't know how to react, so he gave him a slight smile. Glenn was about to follow Daryl, but he stopped him.

"Stay here, Glenn. I'll find Jake," Glenn nodded and Zach ran up and gave Daryl a hug too. Daryl was a little less thrilled than Glenn, but accepted it all the same, and started out the door.

"Daryl?" Zach called. He turned around.

"Thanks for looking out for him," Daryl gave a single nod and left the farmhouse.

Field

Rick and Carl were on their way back to the farm, unaware of what awaited behind them.

"You bit too?" Carl asked. Rick took a second to answer.

"No,"

"Shane was," Carl said, looking down steadily.

"That wasn't Shane," Rick said. "You know that,"

"Used to be," Carl said. Rick said nothing as they continued walking.

"What happened?" Carl asked. "You guys attacked? I mean, I-I heard a gunshot, but I didn't see any walkers nearby. How did Shane die?" Rick stopped walking and Carl followed suit. He was about to say something to Carl, when he heard the growling of the walkers. They both turned around to see at least two hundred or so walkers.

"Oh my God! Go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go,"

Farmhouse

Daryl, Andrea, and Glenn stepped out onto the porch amid the sounds of growling, and looked out to the fields to see the gathering horde of undead.

Farm outskirts

Rick and Carl quietly ducked behind a tree with the sounds of walkers on the farm ahead of them. Carl was hysterical.

"We-we gotta get to the house- -tell the others," he panicked.

"We'll never get through that. Can't go around. Carl, stay close," Rick whispered. He looked for an opening and saw one where there were only a few walkers gathered.

"Alright. Carl-" Rick was cut off by the ground beneath him shaking. He slowly turned around after hearing a low growling sound, followed by a massive exhale, to see the Tyrannosaur towering above the field, only fifty feet or so away from him and Carl. Carl turned to see it as well, and gasped out of fear, but Rick covered his mouth just in time. The two of them got as low to the ground as they could without outright lying down. Luckily, the rex hadn't seen them yet. Carl looked up to his dad, panicked, but tried to keep calm, even as the rex started to step closer to them. Rick turned Carl towards him.

"Carl, look at me," he whispered. Carl fixed his gaze on the T rex, and Rick sharply pulled him back to face him.

"Look at me!" Rick whisper yelled. "We need to move or this thing is gonna be right on top of us,"

"How do we do that?" Carl asked, whispering back. Rick looked back at the T rex, and then back to Carl.

"We move low, and we move slow. Do you understand?" Rick asked, looking Carl in the eyes. Carl nodded frantically. Rick turned back towards the T rex to make sure it wasn't looking at them.

"Go. Now," Rick said. The two of them moved as quickly and as quietly as they could, ducking behind trees and rocks, and still trying to avoid being seen by walkers as well. Meanwhile, the tyrannosaur kept getting closer...

Eastern Woods: Jacob and Billy (happens concurrently with Rick and Carl's scene)

Jacob and Billy were sprinting through the woods, trying to get back to the farm.

"The flare came from over there!" Jacob called as he ran.

"Which could also mean that's where the rex is! Slow down a little! And what about that gunshot?!" Billy called back. Jacob ignored him for the most part and kept running, until they reached the clearing that Wu had come to earlier. Jacob slowly scanned the tree line and saw an indent in the field they had entered. Billy eventually caught up to him and the two of them searched the area.

"You sure this is where you saw it come down?" Billy asked.

"Positive. If this is where Wu saw the rex, then-then-" Jacob didn't finish his sentence. He simply stared at what was making the indent in the field. It was Wu. An undead Wu, snarling and snapping his jaws at Jacob from the ground, unable to get up due to a majority of his internal organs being spread around on the ground.

"What? What is it?" Billy asked. His question was answered when he saw what Jacob was looking at.

"Oh no," he said. Jacob just shook his head out of pity, and plunged his knife into Wu's head, permanently putting him out of his misery.

"He must've gotten attacked by a walker on his way back. Fired the flare before he died," Jacob said sadly. He picked up the flare gun and the one remaining flare. "He and I, we had our differences, but-I think he was truly trying," Billy knelt down next to Wu and examined the carnage, looking particularly close at his stomach. He also turned his body over, and neither one of them could see anything resembling a walker bite.

"I don't think walkers did this," Billy said.

"Then how did he-come back?" Jacob asked. Billy shook his head.

"I have no idea. But the scarring on his stomach-" Billy said. Jacob's eyes widened.

"Raptors," he said. "They must've gutted him and then gotten spooked by the T rex," he looked up at Billy.

"Billy. We have to get back to the farm. No one knows the rex is coming," Billy nodded.

"Let's get the hell out of here," Billy turned Wu on his back and closed his eyelids, but when he did, something fell out of Wu's blood soaked pocket. An Indominus rex claw. The two of them almost instantly recognized it, and Jacob picked it up.

"What was that you said about him turning over a new leaf?" Billy asked.

"He's lucky he's already dead," Jacob said angrily, throwing the claw back on to Wu's lifeless body. "Let's go," And with that the two of them run back towards the farm.

Farm Outskirts: Rick and Carl

Rick and Carl were still trying to get past the T. rex. It was now standing directly in the path they needed to take. The two of them were sheltered behind a tree.

"Dad?!" Carl asked, panicked.

"We need to sneak past him,"

"How?!" Carl asked, almost bringing his voice above a whisper. Rick shushed him, then looked around, finding a rock. He picked it up and threw it in the opposite direction. It made a thud as it hit the ground. The tyrannosaur lifted its head up in the air and sniffed, and followed the sound. Rick snuck past the rex and motioned for Carl to do the same. Carl obliged and was almost to Rick when he heard the crunch of a stick under his foot. The rex turned, saw Carl, and roared.

"Carl, run!" Rick called. The two of them started booking it to the barn, narrowly avoiding walkers in the process. The rex tried to follow behind them, but got caught up in the walkers, snapping at them and ripping them apart with its jaws. When they were sure that it was distracted, the two of them managed to barricade themselves in the barn.

Farmhouse

Back at the house, the group watched from afar on as the walkers, and the T rex, swarmed the fields by the barn.

"We need to turn off the lights," Zach said. "The T rex will see it!"

"Yes and so will the walkers. Patricia, kill the lights," Hershel said. Patricia ran inside and the farmhouse went black.

"I'll get the guns," Andrea said.

"Zach, come inside," Maggie said, ushering him in.

"But Jake-" he started. Maggie shook her head.

"They'll make it back. He's got Billy with him," she said, trying to reassure him. Zach tried to keep his composure, then nodded and went inside the house.

"Maybe they're just passing, like the herd on the highway. Should we just go inside?" Glenn asked.

"Not unless there's a tunnel downstairs I don't know about. That T rex'll rip the house down. The walkers ain't gonna help either," Daryl said. Lori came out on the porch in a panic.

"Carl's gone," she said.

"What?" Daryl asked.

"He-he was upstairs. I can't find him anymore," Lori said.

"Maybe he's hiding," Glenn said.

"He's supposed to be upstairs. I'm not leaving without my boy," she said hysterically.

"We're not," Carol said. "We're gonna look again, we're gonna find him," Carol and Lori went back into the house in a hurry.

Barn

After barricading themselves in the barn, Rick and Carl were met with the sounds of banging on the doors with Walkers trying to force their way in. Rick quickly looked for a solution, but had yet to find one...

Farmhouse

On the porch, Andrea had returned with the guns and Maggie began handing them out, including giving herself one.

"Maggie," Glenn said out of surprise

"You grow up country, you pick up a thing or two," she replied.

"I got the number. It's no use," Daryl said.

"You can go if you want," Hershel said, loading a shotgun.

"You gonna take 'em all on? And that dinosaur?" Daryl asked.

"We have guns. We have cars," Hershel simply said.

"Kill as many as we can, and we'll use the cars to lead the rest of them off the farm. And even a T rex isn't bulletproof," Andrea said.

"Are you serious?" Daryl asked.

"This is my farm," Hershel said. "I'll die here," Daryl nodded.

"All right. It's as good a night as any,"

Barn

The walkers had almost made their way through. Pulling apart the wood on the door. Rick and Carl could also hear the stomping of the T rex, but it seemed to just be circling, likely attacking the walkers. Inadvertently helping them out. Rick and Carl had just finished spreading some gasoline throughout the barn.

"All right, here we go," Rick said, dumping the last of the gas. He led Carl to the loft ladder.

"Okay. Up there. Hurry," he said.

"Well, what about you?" Carl asked.

"I'll be right there. Drop the lighter when I say. We'll stop some of them from reaching the house and distract the others, so at least we'll have a chance," Rick said.

"What about the Tyrann-" Carl was about to say, but Rick pulled him in close.

"Hey-hey-hey, look at me. You can do this," he said. They looked each other in the eyes. "Carl, I love you. All right, go-go-go," Rick ushered Carl up the ladder while he himself banged on the barn door.

"Hey! Hey! You want some?! Come and get it!" Rick pulled the door open and the walkers began flooding into the barn.

"Come on! Come on! Come on! Over here! Come on, over here," Rick led the walkers towards the ladder. He looked up at Carl who had the lighter already lit.

"Carl, now!" Carl dropped the lighter as Rick climbed up into the loft, and the walkers were engulfed in flames. The T rex, seeing the light, began stomping its way over.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group was driving their various vehicles and taking out as many walkers as they could. Daryl was on his motorcycle, T Dog and Andrea were in the pick up truck, and Glenn and Maggie were in the SUV

"Keep it steady!" Glenn said as Maggie drove, reloading his shotgun.

"I'm trying!" she called back. Glenn missed another shot, and swore as he did so.

"Damn it,"

Farm outskirts

Jacob and Billy had finally made their way back to the farm, and came to a hill overlooking it.

"Oh my god," Jacob said. "We're too late," he saw the T rex, headed towards the barn.

"Maybe not," Billy said. "Whatever they're doing is distracting the walkers," they both watched as Glenn gunned down a walker from the SUV.

"Let's give 'em a hand," Jacob said, cocking his pistol. Billy nodded and loaded the Marlin he used to shoot the T rex last time, and the two of them ran down the hill to Jacob's car. Jacob climbed in the passenger seat and readied his gun. He threw Billy his car keys.

"You drive this time," he said. Billy had an exasperated look but climbed in the driver's seat.

"We gotta distract that T rex or no one's making it out of this alive," Billy said. Jacob nodded.

"Let's get on it then," Billy nodded and floored the car towards the dinosaur. T Dog noticed the other car joining the fight.

"Look who's back," he said. Andrea turned around in her seat and saw Jacob and Billy speeding off towards the Tyrannosaur.

"We'll take all the help we can get!" she said, shooting another walker.

Farmhouse

Back at the house, Beth, Patricia, and Zach were all looking out the window to witness the chaos.

"The barn's on fire," Beth said.

"They're headed for it. Maybe Rick set it to draw 'em in," Patricia said.

"The T rex too," Zach added. Lori and Carol came running down the stairs.

"I can't find him anywhere," Lori said.

"So maybe he snuck outside," Carol said.

"What do I do!?" Lori shouted. This startled Zach a bit.

"He was here. He must've run off, maybe looking for Rick-or went after Randall himself," Carol said, trying to rationalize it.

"Maybe he set the fire," Patricia said.

Meanwhile, In the field, everyone was still trying to fend off the walkers. Jimmy took shots at walkers while he drove the RV, and Daryl followed close behind on his motorcycle. He pulled up next to the rv.

"Yo! Must've been Rick or Shane who started that fire. Maybe they're trying to get out back! Why don't you circle around? Go!" Daryl said. Jimmy gave a firm nod and put the RV in gear. As the RV got closer to the barn, the T rex took interest, abandoning its chase of Jacob and Billy.

"Oh shit," Jacob said.

"What? What is it?!" Billy called from the driver's seat.

"The rex is headed right for the barn! I think I saw Rick over there!" Jacob said. Billy floored it in the direction the T rex went.

As Jimmy approached the Barn with the RV, Rick and Carl were on the roof, trying to flag him down.

"Hey! Here! Get in here! Put it right there! Come on!" Jimmy parked the RV and Carl and Rick were about to jump on top of it, when they saw the T Rex right behind the RV, and backed up into the still on fire barn. Thanks to the Rex, the immediate area was mostly free of walkers. Jimmy opened the door to call to them.

"Come on! Get in!" Before he could say anything else, he heard a low growl. And then a roar. Jimmy screamed in terror as he was enveloped in the Tyrannosaur's jaws head first. The T rex shook its head back and forth with Jimmy in its jaws, breaking every bone in his body before finally swallowing what remained of him. One of Jimmy's arms fell out of the Tyrannosaur's jaws, bloody and almost unrecognizable. Carl winced and looked away as he watched the gruesome scene. Rick used the unfortunate distraction for him and Carl to slip by. Rick also had his gun out and started gunning down walkers behind the RV.

"Carl, now!" He called. Carl climbed down from the RV. As they neared the front, The rex had finished eating Jimmy, and looked right down at Carl. Rick watched in horror as he thought his only son was about to be devoured while Carl stood frozen with fear. Just when it looked as if it was over, Rick heard the revving of an engine and watched as Jacob fired pot shots at the T rex who, in turn roared angrily and gave chase to the car. Jacob called out to Rick from the window.

"Go! We'll handle this! Get the hell out of here!" Rick gave Jacob a thankful nod and killed a few more walkers. He tried to hurry Carl along as the two of them looked at all that remained of Jimmy.

"This way!"

Field

Everyone was still trying to thin the herd of walkers. Andrea stopped to catch her breath and reload after killing several walkers.

"They're all over the place There's no corralling them. We're gonna run out of ammo before we even make a dent," She said. T Dog nodded in agreement.

"We need a new game plan. While T Dog and Andrea deliberated their next move, Rick and Carl had, after narrowly escaping the T Rex, made it to the edge of the farm.

"There. Head for the woods now, as fast as you can. Come on!"

Farmhouse

At the Farmhouse, Hershel was gunning down walkers left and right. Lori and Carol came out to the porch after failing to find Carl.

"I checked the shed. I can't find him anywhere," Carol said.

"Not in the cellar or the attic. Why can't he listen for once?" Lori panicked. She looked off in the direction of the barn.

"Ok okay, if he followed his daddy, he went that way," Lori tried to walk off the porch but Carol stopped her.

"No, you'll lead 'em right to him. We can't stay here!" Carol said. Lori's eyes welled up with tears.

"That's my boy!" She cried. Carol grabbed her shoulders.

"You're gonna have to trust. If we find him, he's gonna need his mother. We've gotta go," she said. Lori considered her words and then conceded, much to her dismay.

"Get the others. Make sure Zach's alright," Lori said. Carol ran into the house. Lori cried out one last time for her son.

"Carl!"

"Zach, Beth, Patricia, come on. We've gotta go now," Carol said.

"But what about Jacob!?" Zach called in a panic.

"There's no time, if we stay here, we'll die!" She said firmly. Zach was taken aback by Carol's demeanor, but followed her out the door anyway. They all noticed Hershel continuing to gun down the walkers as the herd crept closer to the house.

"Hershel. Hershel!" Lori called. He didn't answer or turn to face her, and kept firing his shotgun.

"Hershel!-Hershel, it's time to go!" She called again. Still nothing.

"Come on! Now! Hershel! Hershel! We gotta go," Patricia tried. Carol just shook her head.

"We gotta get out of here," she said, over the sounds of gun shots.

"We gotta go. Stay behind me. Stay behind me. Come on, girls. Zach stay close," Lori said with her gun out. As they were all running, Patricia was grabbed by a walker and then bitten right on her neck while a terrified Beth, still holding her hand, watched on and screamed in agony. Zach stopped in his tracks and ran off in terror.

"Zachary!" Lori screamed. She was still trying to pull Beth away from Patricia and in all the chaos wasn't able to follow him. When they thought all was lost, T Dog pulled up in the pick up truck and Andrea hopped out to take out some walkers.

"Get in!" T Dog said.

"Get Carol! She ran that way," Lori said. Andrea ran for the shed where Carol was quickly getting cornered. She tried to defend herself with a two by four and screamed as the walkers approached her, only to be saved by Andrea who gunned down several walkers that were encroaching on Carol. However, Andrea didn't see the walker behind her.

"Look out!" Carol screamed. Andrea shot the walker just in time, but it fell on top of her. Carol ran off in the other direction. The others in the truck saw Andrea fall and assumed the worst.

"They got her!" Lori said. "We gotta go! Dog, come on!" T Dog hesitated but put the car in gear and sped off. As he drove off, Andrea pushed the dead walker off of her. Watching helplessly as the truck drove off.

Field

In the SUV, Maggie and Glenn watched T Dog pull out of the farm.

"Where the hell are they going? Should I follow them?" Maggie asked.

"I'd say yes," Glenn said. Swing it around. Swing it around here," As Maggie pulled the car around, they saw a small figure running towards the car.

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa! Stop! That's Zach!" Glenn said. Maggie stopped the car and they both saw that Zach was being chased by walkers. Glenn rolled down the window.

"Get in!" he called. Zach opened the door and practically dove in the backseat of the car.

"Thank-Thank you! I don't know where Jake is!" he cried. Maggie put the car back in gear

"We'll find him, but right now-" She stopped as soon as she saw the horde of walkers in front of the car.

"Oh my God," she said. "I can't get through," Glenn looked at her and Zach sat forward in the back and looked out the windshield. His eyes widened.

"Head out," Glenn said.

"What?" Maggie asked.

"Get off the farm now," Glenn said. Maggie shook her head rapidly.

"Don't say that,"

"Maggie, it's lost!" Glenn said.

"The others; We can't leave them," Maggie said.

"She's right! We can't just-" Zach didn't finish his sentence when a walker almost broke through the windshield. Maggie screamed and put the car in reverse.

"Get off the farm now!" Glenn called out. Maggie put the car in drive and headed for the road. Zach looked back through the rear windshield and all he could see was the orange glow of the barn on fire.

Field

Jacob and Billy were still being pursued by the T rex.

"Not sure how much longer I can keep this up!" Billy said.

"I'm almost out of ammo. This fucker's gotta be getting tired too!" Jacob said over the roar of the T rex and the hum of the engine.

"I've got an idea. Wu had one flare left," Jacob said, pulling out the flare gun from his pocket. Billy gave him a nod of approval.

"Make it count," he said. Jacob holstered his pistol and swapped it out for the flare gun, loading the final flare inside. While the T rex roared, Jacob lined up the gun, aiming just past the T rex's position, and pulled the trigger, shooting a flare well past the barn. To their relief, the T rex gave up on its chase and followed the light, bellowing thunderously in the process. Billy drove well out into the fields to make sure they weren't being followed by the rex. He looked up at the burning barn.

"This place is screwed!" he said. "We need to get out of here!" Jacob shook his head vehemently.

"I am not leaving without my brother," he said firmly.

"Jacob. If we go back to that farmhouse, we won't make it out alive. Zach's a smart kid, I'm sure he got out with someone," Billy said. Jacob eyed him.

"And if he didn't?"

"If we go looking for him, and he's not in there, we get overrun. Say he is alive. And wondering where his big brother is. What then?" Billy asked, almost pleading. Jacob pondered this for a moment. He thought of the conversation he had with Zach the previous day. He then realized Billy was right and slammed his fist on the side of the door.

"Dammit! Just go. Before I change my mind," Billy increased the car's speed and the two of them hightailed it off the farm.

Farmhouse

Hershel was the last person left at the farmhouse. He still hadn't let up with his shotgun.

"Come on! Come on! Come on!" He had to keep backing up as the walkers kept getting closer, no matter how many he killed. Hershel stopped to reload and didn't see a walker sneaking up behind him. Before the walker could make a move, a gunshot came from behind Hershel, revealing that Rick had taken it out.

"Where's Lori? Did you see Lori?" Rick asked.

"I don't know what happened, just keep 's like a plague. They're everywhere," Hershel said, ignoring Rick's question.

"Lori! Did you see her?" Rick yelled again.

"No!" Hershel yelled back.

"We have to go. Find mom and the others," Rick said, killing another walker. The T rex, hearing the shots, started walking towards the farmhouse. It would be on them soon if they didn't move.

"It's my farm!" Hershel yelled. Rick started pulling him away.

"Not anymore! Come on!"

"Come on! Come on!" Hershel yelled. He bashed another walker with his shotgun as Rick and Carl climbed into the car.

"Come on! Hershel!" Rick started the engine and Hershel climbed in the car.

"Go!" As Rick sped off the farm, Andrea, missing them by just a few seconds, tried to run after the car, to no avail.

"Rick! Rick! Wait!" Andrea killed several walkers, and grabbed the bag of guns before running off the farm.

Meanwhile, Daryl looked on at the burning barn, ready to depart himself, when he heard screamings off in the distance. When Daryl reached the source of the screams, he saw it was Carol.

"Come on, I ain't got all day!" Carol jumped on the motorcycle, as a very large group of walkers tailed them.

"Let's go!"

The camera pans to Hershel looking out the back window as his only home crumbled around him. Walkers have overrun the farm, and the T rex, seeing no more sources of food or threats to its territory, stomps back into the woods...

Several hours later: Glenn and Maggie's car.

As the sun rose on the forest, Maggie, Glenn and Zach were driving aimlessly through the wilderness.

"Oh my God. Oh my God," Maggie panicked with tears in her eyes.

"All right, let's just-Let's just circle back to the highway," Glenn said.

"Did you see my dad? Did-did he make it? Did you see?-"

"What about Jacob? Did-did he and Billy and Wu get out?" Zach asked in the same panicked manner.

"I couldn't see anything," Glenn said softly.

"And Beth I lost Beth. We've gotta go back there," Maggie said.

"We can't go back, okay? There's nothing to go back to. But Beth I-I think she was with Lori. And I'm pretty sure I saw Jacob's car when they were distracting the T Rex," Glenn said, trying to reassure them both.

"Did they make it?" Zach asked.

"I don't know," Glenn said.

"Patricia? Jimmy? What if they didn't make it? What if nobody made it?" Maggie asked, still crying.

"They made it, okay? They had to. All right, let's just circle around to the highway where we left supplies for Sophia," Glenn said.

"No, the herd came from that direction," Maggie cried.

"The T rex too," Zach added. Glenn didn't know what to say.

"Just stop. Stop the car. Stop the car," Maggie nodded through her tears and pulled over.

"Let me drive," Glenn said, getting out. Maggie scooched over to the passenger seat and began sobbing.

"Hey hey hey hey. Hey, Maggie, look at me. Look at me," Glenn caressed her face.

"Hey, we're alive. We made it. Okay? I'm sure they are, too. All of them," That last part, Glenn looked at both Maggie and Zach. Maggie nodded and wiped away tears.

"Right?" Glenn said. "I love you. Maggie, I love you. I should've said it a long time ago and it's been true for a long time," Zach didn't say anything and let them have their moment.

"We're gonna be all right, okay? We'll be all right," Glenn said. He turned back to Zach.

"And so is your brother," Zach nodded and wiped away his own tears.

"Okay," Glenn put the car in drive and they got back on the road.

Highway

Rick, Hershel and Carl pulled up to the supply cache they had left for Sophia, only to find that they were the only ones there. All three of them stepped out of the car. Carl walked over to the supply cache and looked around frantically.

"Wait, where's mom? You said she'd be here," Carl said. "W-we gotta go back for her," his voice was rising.

"Carl," Rick started.

"No. Why are we running? What are you doing? It's-It is mom. We need to get her and not be safe a mile away,"

"Shh," Rick shushed him. "You need to be quiet, all right? Please," Carl lowered his voice but still had the same demeanor.

"Please. It's mom," Rick paused for a moment and put his hand on his son's shoulder.

"Look, Carl, listen-" Before Rick could talk to him, Carl pushed his father's hand away, and stormed off to the car, sitting on the hood. Hershel walked up to Rick and made sure Carl couldn't hear them.

"Rick," he said. "You've got to get your boy to safety. I'll wait here for my girls and the others. I know a few places. We'll meet up at one of them later," Rick looked at him with concern.

"Where? Where is safe? We're not splitting up," Hershel brushed off the question.

"Please, keep your boy safe. I'll hide in one of the cars. If a walker gets me, so be it. I've lost my farm. I've lost my wife and maybe my daughters," He said, sounding broken.

"You don't know that," Rick said. "They'll be here,"

"And you don't know that," Hershel retorted.

"You're a man of God. Have some faith," Rick said.

"I can't profess to understand God's plan, but Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind," When Hershel spoke, it sounded as if he were about to cry. Rick softened his tone a bit, and walked back to Carl.

"We stick together,"

Truck

T Dog was speeding down the road while Beth sobbed into Lori's lap.

"Hey, we gotta turn around," Lori said.

"Straight back to that T rex? And the herd? Um, no," T Dog said.

"The highway's back there. That's where they'll be. Rick will go back to where we first broke down - and Glenn too. And Jacob if he made it out," Lori said. T Dog shook his head.

"We're headed east, get to the coast. We should've done that from the jump. Look, we've got a shot to get out of here in one piece," he said.

"I gotta find Carl," Lori cried. "He may have escaped with somebody," T Dog shook his head again.

"I hate to say it, but they're on their own. There's no way to even begin to start looking,"

"You're wrong," Lori scoffed.

"Look, we can't go back. I'm sorry. It's suicide," T Dog said. Lori looked at him angrily.

"All right, then let me out," she said. When T Dog didn't respond, Lori opened the door while they were still driving. Even Beth looked on in surprise.

"Hey! Whoa!" T Dog said. He regained control of the truck.

"Then turn around, or you let us out right now. I should do it, you know. Okay? T-Dog," Lori said. T Dog paused for a minute then let out a large sigh, pulling over finally.

"You're out of your damn minds," he whipped the truck around and floored it in the opposite direction.

Car: Jacob and Billy

Jacob stared out the window as they passed several walker stragglers, and compies feeding off of a triceratops carcass. Likely one from the farm.

"We've been driving for a while now, and there's still no sign of anyone. Where the hell do we go?" Jacob asked.

"I was hoping you could tell me. Where would your group go to meet up? Before you met us, I mean," Billy asked. Jacob thought about this for a moment.

"The highway," he said, with the slightest bit of hope in his voice. Billy looked at him and nodded.

"That traffic jam? Where you all first saw the T rex?" Bill asked.

"That's the one. Here's hoping at least some of us made it out," Jacob said, his hope fading. Billy noticed this and looked at him.

"We'll find him, Jacob. He'll be ok," Jacob looked back at Billy and gave him a small smile that faded into a sad expression.

"The other day," Jacob started. "I told him that we're all gonna die someday. And that there's nothing we can do about it. I just-I hope that day isn't today," he said, tears in his eyes.

"He's the only family I have left, Billy. I can't lose him," Jacob wiped the tears away and sighed.

"You won't,"

Highway

Back on the highway, a few walkers were passing through the traffic jam and Rick, Hershel and Carl were hiding behind a car, all with their guns out.

"I don't know how much longer we can stay here," Hershel whispered.

"I-I'm not leaving without mom," Carl said softly

"So we're just gonna walk away?" Rick asked. "Not knowing if my wife, your girls are still out there? How do we live with that?" Hershel got in close.

"You've only got one concern now-Just one: Keeping him alive. Nature may be throwing us a curveball, but that law is still true," he said. Rick didn't say anything, but truly considered Hershel's words. He knelt on the ground to meet his son's gaze.

"Carl. It's not safe here. I'm sorry. We'll-" Before Rick could finish his sentence, he heard the revving of a motorcycle. Then, all the other cars pulled in. Hershel's face lit up with a smile, and the three of them went to meet up with everyone. Everyone exited their vehicles. Maggie ran to Hershel and embraced him

"Oh thank God!" she said, nearly tackling him. Lori ran to Carl and they also embraced. Jacob searched the crowded highway for Zach and when he spotted him, they both ran to each other and cried tears of joy.

"I thought I lost you," Jacob cried. After the reunions were over, everyone regrouped.

"Where'd you find everyone?" Rick asked Daryl.

"Well, those guys' tail lights zigzagging all over the road figured he had to be Asian, driving like that,'' Daryl joked. Glenn actually laughed.

"Good one," he said.

"Where's the rest of us?" Daryl asked.

"We're the only ones who made it so far," Rick replied.

"Shane?" Lori asked hopefully. Rick simply shook his head.

"Andrea?" Glenn asked.

"She saved me, then I lost her," Carol said.

"We saw her go down," T Dog added.

"What about Wu?" Maggie asked. Jacob shook his head.

"Raptors got him. But not before he warned us about the T Rex,"

"He fired a flare. Let us know it was headed to the farm. He died a hero," Billy said. Despite being angry with Wu for his hiding of the Indominus claw, he nodded in agreement with Billy.

"Jesus," Glenn said. Zach started to tear up.

"Patricia?' Herschel asked.

"They got her, too," Beth started. "Took her right in front of me. I was-I was holdin' onto her, daddy. She just- what about Jimmy? Did you see Jimmy?" Beth asked.

"He was in the RV. He stepped outside to let us in and-and the rex got him," Rick said. Beth began to cry in her father's arms and Billy looked on with sympathy.

"You definitely saw Andrea?" Carol asked.

"There were walkers everywhere," Lori said.

"Did you see her?" Carol asked again.

"I'm gonna go back," Daryl said.

"No," Rick replied.

"We're just gonna leave her behind?" Jacob asked. Glenn nodded in agreement.

"We don't even know if she's there," Lori said.

"She isn't there. She isn't. She's somewhere else or she's dead," Rick said.

"There's no way to find her," Lori added.

"So we're not even gonna look for her?" Glenn asked. A walker straggler started walking towards the group.

"We gotta keep moving," Rick said. There have been walkers crawling all over here,"

"We saw some dilophosauruses on the road a little ways back too," Billy added.

"I say head east," T Dog suggested.

"Stay off the main roads," Daryl said. "The bigger the road, the more walkers, mo' assholes like this one," Daryl shot the lone walker with his crossbow. Everyone seemed to look on with disdain for the undead that had just killed so many of their family. After Daryl killed the walker everyone climbed in their vehicles and continued past the highway into parts unknown.

Forest

In the forest outside the farm, a terrified Andrea is running from a horde of walkers, and now pursued by the remaining two raptors that had killed Wu. The walkers had inadvertently helped Andrea by blocking the raptors' path, so she stopped for a moment to grab more ammo from the gun bag. She swore when she saw how low on ammo she was.

"Damn it," after standing back up, one of the walkers tried to attack her from behind. She grabbed it by the head and slammed it against a tree, and then finishing it off by kicking its face in. More walkers continued to pour out of the woods, along with the two raptors. Andrea was able to kill a few walkers, but missed her shots at the raptors as they dodged and weaved through the forest; snarling and hissing at her. She eventually ran out of ammo and kept running...

Backroads

Having left one of the cars behind, the tired and fractured survivors continued on down the road. In Rick's truck, the engine began sputtering and clanking. Rick looked down at the dashboard. He swore as he punched the steering wheel lightly.

"Damn,"

"What's wrong?" Lori asked from the passenger seat.

"We've been riding red for the past hour," Rick said.

"Better make sure we don't get forgot," T Dog said. Rick honked the horn to signal everyone else to stop, and they pulled over. Everyone stepped out

"You out?" Daryl asked, turning off the engine to his motorcycle.

"Running on fumes," Rick said, walking up to the rest of the group.

"Us too," Jacob said.

"We can't stay here," Maggie said.

"There's no way we'll all fit in the same car," Billy added.

"We'll have to make a run for some gas in the morning," Rick said.

"Spend the night here?" Carol asked.

"I'm freezing," Zach said in agreement.

"We'll build a fire, yeah?" Lori said, giving him a warm look.

"You go out looking for firewood, stay close. Only got so many arrows. How you doing on ammo?" Daryl asked Rick.

"Not enough,"

"We can't just sit here with our asses hanging out," Maggie said. Hershel shot his daughter a sharp look.

"Watch your mouth," he said. "Everyone stop panicking and listen to Rick,"

"All right, we'll set up a perimeter. In the morning, we'll find gas and some supplies. We'll keep pushing on," Rick said.

"Glenn and I can go make a run now-try and scrounge up some gas," Maggie said. Rick shook his head.

"No, we stay together. God forbid something happens and people get stranded without a car," he said.

"Rick, we're stranded now," Jacob said. Glenn nodded in agreement.

"I know it looks bad, we've all been through hell and worse, but at least we found each other. I wasn't sure I really wasn't but we did. We're together. We keep it that way. We'll find shelter somewhere. There's gotta be a place," Rick said. He wasn't sure he believed it himself, and the group could tell.

"Rick, look around. Okay? There's walkers and dinosaurs everywhere. They're migrating or something," Glenn said.

"There's gotta be a place not just where we hole up, but that we fortify, hunker down, pull ourselves together, build a life for each other. I know it's out there. We just have to find it!" Rick said viscerally.

"Even if we do find a place and we think it's safe, we can never be sure. For how long? Look what happened with the farm," Maggie said. Hershel looked at her.

"We fooled ourselves into thinking that that was safe. We won't make that mistake again,"

"We'll make camp tonight over there, get on the road at the break of day," Rick said, pointing to a stone structure in the forest.

"Does this feel right to you?" Carol asked.

"What if walkers come through, or the T rex comes back. Or even another group like Randall's?" Beth asked, walking up to Rick.

"You know I found Randall, right?" Daryl said. "He had turned, but he wasn't bit," Jacob and Billy looked at each other with astonishment.

"Just like Wu," Jacob said.

"What?" Maggie asked.

"Raptors got him, but we didn't see any walker bites. He was a walker when we found him," Billy added.

"How's that possible?" Beth asked.

"Rick, what the hell happened?" Lori asked. Rick didn't answer.

"Shane killed Randall," Daryl said. "Just like he always wanted to,"

"And then the herd got him?" Lori asked.

"We're all infected," Rick blurted out. Everyone turned to look at him.

"What?" Daryl asked.

"At the CDC, Jenner told me. Whatever it is, we all carry it," Rick said.

"And you never said anything?" Carol asked.

"Would it have made a difference?" Rick said. Carol ignored him and walked towards the stone structure.

"You knew this whole time?" Glenn asked.

"How could I have known for sure? You saw how crazy that mo-" Glenn cut him off.

"That is not your call. Okay, when I found out about the walkers in the barn, I told, for the good of everyone," Glenn said. Everyone began looking at him with uneasiness and distrust.

"Well, I thought it best that people didn't know," Rick walked away from the rest of the group and Lori followed him. She embraced him from behind.

"I'm sure you had your reasons," Lori started. "Is there anything that-" Lori didn't finish her sentence before Rick next spoke.

"I killed him," he said. "I killed Shane. He came at me. He killed Randall to get me into the woods. He planned it. I had-I had no choice," Lori released her embrace on Rick and her expression turned sour as Rick continued.

"I gave him every chance. And he kept leading me further out. He pushed me, and I let him. And after awhile, I knew-I knew what he was doing, what he was up to. And I kept going. I didn't stop. I could have, but I just wanted it over. Dogging me every step of the way. Acting like I stole you and Carl, like-Like I was in the way. I just wanted it over. I wanted him dead. I killed him. He turned. That's how I knew Jenner-Jenner was right," Rick paused for a moment and Lori was horrified.

"Carl put him down," those words made Lori bend over and cry. Rick tried to comfort her but she slapped his hand away and looked at him with rage before walking away to join the rest of the group.

Forest

Out of ammo and out of steam, Andrea staggered through the autumn forest, running from the two raptors that had been tailing her all day. The female and lone male called to each other as they saw her. Andrea readied her knife in a feeble attempt to fend them off. She tripped over a root and fell on to her back. The female raptor had caught up to her and made several attempts to claw at her stomach. When the male raptor caught up to them, Andrea feared it was all over. One of them pinned her down with its hind leg, the claw digging into her ankle as she cried out in pain. As the female raptor was about to bite down on her neck, an arrow plunged into the back of its head, causing it to slump down, dead next to Andrea. The remaining male cried out as its head was severed from its body by a katana. When Andrea looked to her saviors, she saw a bald man with a bow and arrow, standing a few feet from another person. A mysterious hooded woman wielding a katana, and two walkers with their arms and jaws cut off being held in chains by Andrea's mystery savior...

Nightfall: Roadside Camp

The farm survivors had made a fire and were all huddled close together around it. Everyone had uneasy and scared looks on their faces. Billy threw another log on the fire and sat down next to Jacob.

"You really think Rick should be leading this group? After not telling us about something like that?" Jacob looked at him sincerely.

"Rick's kept me and Zach alive. More so than I can say for anyone else. Besides, can we honestly say we wouldn't have done the same thing?" he said. Billy didn't answer.

"We've all done things we're not proud of. Just the way the world is now. He's okay in my book," Jacob said. Billy turned back to the fire.

"I'm just saying. A real leader wouldn't keep secrets like that. At least none I've ever met," he said. Carol heard their conversation and chimed in.

"We're not safe with him-Keeping something like that from us. Why do you need him? He's just gonna pull you down," she asked.

"No," Daryl said. "Rick's done all right by me," Carol shook her head.

"You're his henchman and I'm a burden. You deserve better,"

"What do you want?" Daryl asked.

"A man of honor," she said, looking him in the eyes.

"Rick has honor," Daryl retorted.

"I think we should take our chances," Maggie said.

"Don't be foolish," Hershel said. There's no food, no fuel, no ammo," Suddenly, there was a rustling in the bushes near by.

"What was that?" Beth asked.

"Could be anything. Could be a compy, could be a compy," Daryl said. He stood up with his crossbow ready.

"Or something bigger," Jacob added.

"Or a Walker," Glenn said.

"We need to leave," Carol said. "I mean what are we waiting for?"

"Which way?" Maggie asked. Everyone stood up.

"It came from over there," Billy said.

"Back from where we came," Beth said.

"The last thing we need is for everyone to be running off in the dark. We don't have the vehicles. No one's traveling on foot," Rick said.

"Don't panic," Hershel said.

"I'm not-I'm not sitting here, waiting for another herd to blow through. Or for a pack of raptors to find us," Maggie said. "We need to move, now,"

"No one is going anywhere," Rick said firmly.

"Do something," Carol said.

"I am doing something! I'm keeping this group together, alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this. I killed my best friend for you people, for Christ's sake!" Rick said. Carl started crying.

"Wait. W-what?" Jacob asked. Everyone looked at Rick.

"You saw what he was like, how he pushed me, how he compromised us, how he threatened us. He staged the whole Randall thing, led me out to put a bullet in my back. He gave me no choice. He was my friend, but he came after me. My hands are clean," Rick paused for a moment as Lori comforted a crying Carl. He looked around at the group before he spoke again.

"Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's a place for us, but maybe-maybe it's just another pipe dream. Maybe-maybe I'm fooling myself again. Why don't-you Why don't you go and find out yourself? Send me a postcard. Go on, there's the door. You can do better? Let's see how far you get," no one got up, or tried to leave, or anything of the sort. Rick continued.

"No takers? Fine. But get one thing straight you're staying. This isn't a democracy anymore," As everyone looked to each other and then to Rick, the latter walked away leaving everyone to consider his words. As the full moon descends on the night sky, the camera pans to a potential safe haven: the prison...

END

Thanks for reading season 2 everyone! I'll likely have one more chapter with Dr. Grant's group meeting the farm survivors. I initially thought I might have it be part of season 2, but it's more likely that it will be part of season 3, potentially after they get to the prison, but stay tuned! You'll also have to wait for season 3 to find out who the other person with Michonne was ;) Anyways, stay tuned!
