Chapter 35

***An Hour Later***

(Sam goes to Alexis' cottage. Danny comes out from his room to see who arrived. Sam smiles and asks her son to go play his video game in his room. He rolls his eyes and mumbles as he walks back to his room)

Danny: "Great, you're going to complain to grandma again."

(Sam makes sure Danny is out of earshot before she faces her mom)

Sam: "I want to make sure he can't hear us."

Alexis: "Something happened, didn't it? By the way, Danny is a smart kid. He knows something is wrong. He may be young, but he's not stupid."

Sam: (weird look) "I'm well aware that my kid is smart."

Alexis: (raises her eyebrows) "Are you sure? Because you tend you act surprised when he shows maturity around topics you don't like to discuss."

(Sam scoffs and waves her hands around)

Sam: "Who does like to discuss certain topics, mom? Whether it'd be Jason or other things I don't care about?"

Alexis: "But sometimes you DO need to, especially if it's important to Danny."

Sam: (sighs) "Mom, I know all of this. Can we talk about something else now?"

Alexis: (folds her arms) "I get the feeling you came here for a reason."

(Sam sighs deeply as she walks in circle, putting her hands together like she is praying. She then puts her hands to her lips before facing her mom and winces, hands lowered a bit)

Sam: "I may need a lawyer because of something I did years ago."

(Alexis looks at her daughter in confusion)

Alexis: "What did you do?" (shakes her head) "Wait a second. Does this have anything to do with Jason paying me a visit earlier? He mentioned you'd be venting to me about something."

Sam: "I want to make sure that what I'm about to tell you will be protected by client/lawyer confidentiality."

Alexis: (nods) "Yes, it will be. This won't be good, will it?"

Sam: "Okay, this will be a long story, so brace yourself."

(Sam goes to the couch to get comfortable and Alexis does the same)

Sam: "When Helena found out that Lizzie was pregnant with Aiden, Helena wasn't too happy that supposedly Lucky was the father. She didn't want Lucky to be the father. She'd rather have Nikolas be the father. Helena knew Jason and I were together and have been a long time. However, Jason and I had a huge fight because her and Lucky were having problems and Jason has always had a sympathetic ear to use. Well, I got tired of it, mom. I got really tired of it. I blew up at him. Saying it's always 'Lizzie this and Lizzie that'. He got mad at me, saying Elizabeth is his friend. I was like 'really Jason? Is she?'. Well, one night, he stormed out of our place. Lucky and Lizzie must have had a fight, too. Jason admitted it later on that he and Lizzie vented to each other. One thing led to another and you know what happened next."

Alexis: (nods) "Did Jason use protection?"

Sam: (shrugs) "He says he did."

Alexis: "You sound like you don't believe him."

Sam: "I honestly didn't know what to believe but I wanted to trust that he did. Jason and I ended up making up. It was really tender for a few weeks, though. Around the time that the paternity issue was questioned for Lizzie's baby, I bumped into Helena. She casually asked me how I felt knowing about Jason and Lizzie's past? How I also felt about their night together? I had no idea she knew about that. She laughed that she knows everything about what goes on in Port Charles."

Alexis: "That doesn't surprise me considering it's Helena."

Sam: "Well, she confessed to me with a sneer in her voice, 'What do you think about the fact that, not only is Nikolas AND Lucky NOT Aiden's biological father, but that Jason IS the biological father?"

(Alexis' eyes grew wide! What the hell? She quickly shakes her head and blinks her eyes before speaking)

Alexis: "Okay, are-are you saying that JASON is Aiden's biological father?"

Sam: (nods) "That's exactly what I'm saying, mom. Helena asked if I wanted the world to know that simple fact. I, of course, said 'Hell, no!'." (scoffs) "Mom, if Jason or Lizzie knew the truth, I'd lose Jason to HER! I was NOT going to let that happen!"

Alexis: "There are no guarantees it would've happened. And you DO realize that you're not saying Elizabeth's name correctly, right? Does she even like the name 'Lizzie'?"

Sam: (rolls her eyes) "I don't really care what she likes and dislikes. Anyway, I believe it would have. So, and Helena and I both agreed that no one in Port Charles would know the truth. She made it so Nikolas would turn out to be the dad. In the end, a DNA test said Lucky was the true dad. I quietly paid off the technician to reveal it was Lucky and not Jason. No one knew any different so I didn't have to worry. Helena made sure the technician stayed silent because no one was to know that Jason was the true father."

(Alexis shakes her head in disappointment at her daughter)

Alexis: "I can't believe you did that, Sam. No wonder you may need a lawyer for this. Have Jason or Elizabeth threatened to sue you over it?"

Sam: (shakes her head) "No, not yet." (raises her eyebrows) "There's more to the story."

(Alexis just about coughed on her own spit and patted her chest, facing forward a bit)

Alexis: "There's MORE? Oh, dear God, Sam. What else have you done?"

Sam: "I told Franco about it. About all of it."

Alexis: (trying to understand) "Why? He has nothing to do with the situation." (tilts his head) "Or does he?"

Sam: "What I'm about to say stays between us again, mom. Jason knows part of the truth, but not all of it."

Alexis: (sighs deeply) "Sam, what the hell have you gotten yourself into?"

Sam: (scoffs sarcastically) "If you thought you were disappointed in me before, you will be after I tell you this."

(Alexis wipes her face with her hands. She then slides her hands over her hair before giving her daughter her full attention)

Alexis: "What'd you do?"

Sam: "Around the time Danny was conceived, Jason wasn't the only man that I slept with. I mean, Jason thought I was raped. I thought that I was raped. But I wasn't."

Alexis: "The only person that comes to mind during that time was Franco."

Sam: (nods) "That's true. The next night, Jason was worried about me because of what happened the previous night. I assured him he didn't need to be. After doing some walking, I ran into Franco. We had a talk on the beach. He was sorry about before as he wanted to piss Jason off. I scolded him that he could have picked a better way to do it. Even though we scolded each other that night, we realized we needed each other. Call it hate sex, if you want. What I regret is, not only did it happen a few other times that night, but during the next couple of months. He couldn't really stand me and I hated him. But I needed comfort."

Alexis: (unamused tone) "And Franco was there."

Sam: "Unfortunately. Before you ask, no, Jason doesn't know about any of it."

(Alexis rolls her eyes and throws her hands up in the air)

Alexis: (raises her voice) "OH, MY GOD. SAM!"

(Alexis gets off the couch and takes her hair out of her face before continuing to berate her daughter)

Alexis: (yells) "WHAT THE HELL WHERE YOU THINKING?!"

Sam: "I needed to be away from Jason and Franco happened to be there. While he wouldn't have been my first choice to sleep with…it's over and done with."

Alexis: "Did you and Franco at least use protection?"

Sam: (narrows her eyes) "You mean like Jason does?"

Alexis: (points at Sam) "Don't bring Jason into this. From what everyone says, including YOU, he does. A few times the condom may have failed, but at least he uses them. I can't say the same thing for you and Franco."

(A thought then comes to Alexis)

Alexis: "Wait a second. If you and Franco didn't use protection around the time Danny was conceived…did you and Jason?"

Sam: (laughs incredulously) "We were together at the time, mom! Why on earth would we need protection?"

Alexis: "So, who's Danny's father, Sam? Did you have a DNA test done?"

Sam: (nods) "I did. Yes."

Alexis: "Who's the father of Danny?"

Sam: "I'm not ready to share that yet."

Alexis: "Oh, Sam. You are in a lot of trouble. If you're worried I'm going to tell Jason…"

Sam: (nods) "The thought did cross my mind, yes. But I know you won't. As what I told you is strictly confidential."

Alexis: "I won't repeat a word of what you told me. But, I WILL say this. Thank your lucky stars you're not already in jail because I have a feeling soon you will be."

(Meanwhile, Elizabeth meets up with Diane Miller at Jason's penthouse about divorcing Franco as soon as possible, among other things)

Liz: "Thank you for meeting with me, Diane. I appreciate it."

Diane: (smiles) "Oh, no problem. I'm a little surprised we're meeting here, though. I was expecting to meet at your place." (referring to Elizabeth's house)

Liz: "The boys are at home and I didn't want to sadden them even more than normal regarding the situation. Jason offered to have it here and I accepted."

Jason: "I hope that's okay, Diane."

Diane: "Oh, yes, that's fine. Elizabeth, is everything okay? Why did you want to meet?"

Liz: (sighs) "You might want to sit down for this. It'll take a while."

(Diane looks a bit wide eyed at Jason, who just nods at his lawyer. Diane clears her throat before taking a seat on the left side of the couch and Elizabeth on the right. Diane nods at Elizabeth to begin)

Liz: "First of all, Franco and I have been having financial problems for months. Yes, I'm a surgical nurse. But, between three kids to provide for and their needs, and to top it off, any bills that come our way…it got to be too hard and expensive. Franco's job at the hospital wasn't bringing in much income, either. We fought about that. I offered to ask Jason for help if he was willing. Franco immediately shut down that idea. Franco said he should be able to provide for our family, no matter the circumstances. To add drama, the boys asked Jason for help and that angered Franco more."

Diane: (chuckles dryly) "Oh, ho, ho, ho, I'm sure that made his day."

Liz: "Between the endless fights and then the boys hearing parts of it…I finally had enough, Diane."

(Elizabeth shakes her head and places a few strands of hair behind her ears, sighing in frustration)

Liz: "I couldn't take it anymore."

Diane: (snorts) "I don't blame you. Elizabeth, he sounds like he needs to get in touch with reality."

(Jason, who was standing next to his girl and has his arms folded over his chest, speaks)

Jason: "There's more, Diane."

Diane: (a bit shocked) "More? Oh, goody."

Jason: "You're not going to like the next part, Diane. It involves Sam."

Diane: "Jason, I know that you and Sam used to be together for a long time. What happened that ended it, is your business."

Jason: (shakes his head) "No, I will tell you because I know it'll stay in this room incase it's client/attorney privilege."

Diane: (nods) "I understand."

Jason: "Between Sam getting upset about us not spending enough time together…her getting upset when Elizabeth's name is brought up or when I'd have to see her…I got so freaking tired of it, Diane. To top it off, Sam seemed to care more about me than spending time with the kids and making sure she honored her parole with Delores." (sighs) "Diane, she got caught one night when she invited me over because she wanted to have a romantic night and I tried telling her it wasn't a good idea."

Diane: "I bet she wasn't happy."

Jason: "That would be an understatement. Delores caught her and gave her one more chance after I assured her I was done with Sam. Obviously, Sam vowed revenge against Elizabeth." (scoffs) "You'll love this next part."

Diane: (chuckles dryly) "My mouth is watering with anticipation."

Jason: "I have a recording I want you to listen to. Just to give you a heads up, you won't like it because I didn't."

Liz: (shakes her head) "No one did."

Diane: (startled face) "How many people know about the recording or listened to it?"

Jason: "A lot of people. Sam, me, Elizabeth, Sonny, Carly, Franco, Josslyn, and now, you will. I could be missing someone."

Diane: (sighs) "Alright, play it. I need to see what I'm dealing with here."

(Jason takes out his phone and plays the recording for Diane, who is caught off-guard! Her mouth is in the shape of an O and she's wide-eyed in response. Once the recording is done, Elizabeth speaks)

Liz: "Now, do you see why I wanted a divorce from Franco?"

Jason: "And why I want nothing to do with Sam?"

(Diane nods and stutters a bit before speaking to both of them)

Diane: "It doesn't surprise me in the least that Franco did that. Sam, on the other hand? Jason, I have known her for years and you two as a couple for just as long until you told me the circumstances surrounding the breakup. I wish I could be surprised that she did that. Nothing surprises me anymore with people."

(Diane composes herself and clears her throat)

Diane: "What exactly do you two need me to do?"

Liz: "I want a divorce from Franco…as soon as possible. I told him I'd be meeting with you."

Jason: "We all want three DNA tests. I want to know for sure whether or not I'm Danny's father. Elizabeth, I know we haven't discussed it, but given that Helena may have messed with Aiden's test results, I want to know if she messed with Jake's, as well. He's still my son, no matter what the test says. I hope Aiden is mine, too."

Liz: (nods) "Don't worry, I understand. I want to make sure of everything, too."

(Elizabeth bites her lips and fidgets while Jason and Diane exchange a few words. Jason notices his girl seems nervous about something. He walks to her and sits on the chair, bringing it closer to her. He gives her his full attention)

Jason: "What's wrong, sweetie?"

(She faces her love)

Liz: (weird look) "What do you mean?"

Jason: (smiles a bit) "You're forgetting I can read you like a book. Talk to me."

(Elizabeth moves her hair behind her ears and sighs deeply as she spoke)

Liz: "It's stupid, really."

Jason: "Nothing you say is stupid, honey."

(He takes her hands in his and kisses them)

Jason: "I would never laugh at you."

Diane: (smiles) "That's true. He'd laugh with you, not at you."

Liz: "As we're talking about DNA tests about Danny, Jake, and Aiden, we want to make sure about the paternity. You know, if you're really the father. Well, when Monica and I were talking the other night at her place, she asked me, for shits and giggles, if it's possible that Cameron is your son, too. Jason, all of these years, I believed it was Zander to be the father. He and I had a one night stand and didn't use protection. Then again, around the time Cameron was conceived, you and I slept together, too. We used protection, but, with Jake, we found out the condom was faulty. Monica did point out to me that condoms aren't 100% protective."

Diane: (nods) "Monica does have a point. She is also a doctor, so she knows these things."

Jason: (nods) "I see your point, Elizabeth. Monica is right." (smiles) "On a personal note, I would love it, if all three of your sons were mine."

Liz: (chuckles) "Oh, trust me, so would I."

Jason: (to Diane) "Aside from Elizabeth wanting a divorce from Franco, can you arrange four DNA tests?"

Liz: "Franco is aware I'm seeing you, Diane, about the divorce."

Jason: "Do you know how soon it can happen?"

Diane: "Usually it could take months for a divorce to happen." (smiles smugly) "But with my magic, I can make it happen within a matter of weeks. Of course, it'll be expensive to expedite."

(Jason and Elizabeth nod at each other before Jason faces Diane)

Jason: "I will pay whatever it costs, as long as you can get it done."

Diane: (chuckles) "Of course, you will. I knew you would say that." (serious tone) "Are you two together right now? Romantically speaking?"

Liz: "No, we're not. I want to officially be divorced before I start anything with Jason."

Diane: (smirks) "Good plan. So that way, no one can claim you're together if you're not." (smiles wickedly) "Congrats, you two. You obviously care very deeply for each other."

Jason: (nods) "We always have, but life got in the way."

Liz: "No more."

Diane: (to Jason) "How does Sam feel about all of this?"

Jason: (raises his eyebrows) "Being mad is an understatement, but she needs to move on. I have with the true love of my life."

Diane: "Elizabeth, who is Franco's lawyer?"

Liz: "I believe it'll be Scott, his father."

Diane: "Give me a day or two to get the paperwork sorted out."

Liz: (grins) "Thank you, Diane."

Jason: "We appreciate it."

(Diane and Elizabeth embrace before Diane speaks)

Diane: "It's about time someone's made Jason truly happy."

(After Diane makes her exit, Elizabeth sighs in relief)

Liz: "What's next?"

Jason: "I need to call Spinelli and have him check out the GH databases to make sure that Sam and Franco were telling the truth."

(Elizabeth nods in agreement. Jason calls Spinelli)

Jason: "Spinelli, it's Jason. I have a job for you."

Chapter 35 Done

I don't know if it's entirely possible for a couple to be legally divorced within a matter of weeks no matter the location. However, for storyline purposes, I'm doing it.
