I never could guess how to write this story, but I figured it out. I wasn't writing in my style, and now I am.
I realized, when talking to a new author friend, where I failed. I want an inversion of Kagome, and I have some amazing ideas. I am using Supernatural and Dungeons and Dragons Wizards as inspiration. I need to be more honest toward my style of writing.
I am also drawing on AHS Coven.
I actually have a good outline of where to go.
One Year before canon starts!
Zachary- Age Fifteen
Zachary ached, two days without food and one without water made him delirious. Finding a library made him happy, water fountains and books granted him a sense of peace. Walking into the building, he moved toward the Fantasy section, and settled into it. The book he found was on tapping into magic, drawing on the Earth for strength, and as an avid writer/reader, it consumed his every thought.
The earth, as the source of all life, is the key to Neutral magic. The magic of witches, something seen across the world. Drawing into the spark we all have, that links us to our Great Mother, the earth, awakens the potential for power beyond the Soul or Blood, beyond destiny or blessings. Tapping into this power requires perfect center, patience and a true knowledge of the craft.
To start out, try meditating, chanting a spell in your chosen tongue. In Latin, the spell would be "Terram appello, et scintillam canalem."
Frowning, he sighed. "I have nothing left to lose... might as well try this." Closing his eyes, he focused hard. On the potent earth, on the comforting presence of life. He imagined being a tree, roots deep in the earth, drawing deep of her majesty. And then, with that thought in his heart, he chanted.
"Terram appello, et scintillam canalem. Terram appello, et scintillam canalem. Terram appello, et scintillam canalem."
He did not notice it at first, but a soft green light started to dance around his skin. He only noticed it when sheer relief overflowed him, his bruises, aches and pains faded away to a dullness he had not felt in months. Not since he was abandoned by his parents... opening his eyes, he was stunned to see that glow sinking into his skin, the Earth's majesty soothing his wounds.
Tears prickled at his eyes. "I... it worked, magic is real... I... I can use this, I need... I need to know more. Screw money, this, this can save me."
And so began his journey, toward the purpose he so desperately sought.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joyful chapter to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
