"There should have been a better farewell. But in the end there never is. And in the end we take what meagre scraps we can find"- Richard K. Morgan

Chaos

Then what was it for? Surviving the blast and the world that came after, all that time in shelters, only to get whipped out by a flood and reconstructed into puppets of the machine! Is that all they think humanity was for?

You are just as much your triumphs as you are your sorrows, your stories and your scars. And you are being asked to give that up for some supposed utopia?

Fuck that! Humanity is about choices, and in that world there are none.

Law

And you could have everyone you ever wanted in your life. The people you care about. It's a small number, but they are your people.

Would they be happy? In the simulation, yes. In reality. No, but in reality, almost everyone is dead. They would hate you for this. But it's happiness. Has anyone truly been happy since the blast?

People have had fleeting moments of it sure, and maybe it was like that before, but you can't know for sure. Reality sucks. Nothing of the old world is achievable to your generation. Not the way they had it. But here is an offering of happiness.

And you are willing to kill friends and god to try to keep it.

Neutral

Humanity is dead, and you are its Reaper. You killed the last of it with your own hands. You knew them. They were friends. But they were lying to themselves to think there was anything to salvage from this mess.

You bring the end in hopes of something better after.

I have not played SMT NINE, due to it being an untranslated game I could only run on emulation. I speak no Japanese, so I watched Marsh and BuffMaister's movie. But the story it gives is pretty cool, and I wanted to make something about it. So I made a small fic about the endings I saw, though I did not capture all nine alignment nuances, due to limited information available online. But I hopped you enjoyed.
