One day, Deidre was running a errand for her father to the grocery store to pick up Groceries.
Mr Franklin was currently busy doing research in his astronomy study room. She wasn't sure what he was studying, and she was a little curious, but he wouldn't tell his daughter or let her into his study room like he usually did. Deidre thought that was a bit unusual, but didn't think much about it. After she payed for the groceries (Also for a box of Twinkies and whipped cream for herself), Deidre got on her bike and rode back home, where she unpacked the groceries where she fixed dinner for her and her dad. Huck sat beside Deidre to watch her cook, hoping for some scrapes.
Deidre gave him a chicken bone, which he happily chewed on. After she got the chicken out of the oven and mashed the potatoes, the kitchen phone rang. Deidre went to get it and answered,
"Hello, this is Deidre of the Franklin residence, who is calling please?"
It was Hogarth who answered.
"Deidre, hey! I was wondering if you can have a night out with me and Giant! It'll be funnnn..." Deidre giggled and could almost sense that cute goofy grin through the phone.
"Hogarth, of course I'd love that. Just be patient while I finished fixing dinner for me and my dad. I won't take a billion year."
"Oh, you better not. I feel like I'm getting a year older every minute I'm waiting for you."
Deidre smirked and rolled her eyes at the comment when she heard through the phone a grinding sound that heard like giant eating a piece of metal, followed by Dean, "Awww, come on man, Don't eat that! I've just finished it!"
"Let me guess -Giant's eating Dean artwork again, isn't he?"
"Yep, that's about right."
"I'll talk to him about that later. Well, I guess I'll see you tonight then, Hogarth."
"See you there then, super Nova." (That was a nickname for Deidre)
Deidre laughed. "See ya." She hanged up the phone, smiling. Mr, Franklin then walked into the kitchen.
"Hey, there my little Deidre! Dinner ready yet, chef?"
"Just about, dad. Let me finish up and set the table for you, Im about done, anyway."
"I heard you speaking to Hogarth on the phone. You really like that boy, do you?"
"Yes, of course dad. He's my best friend. He's great." Deidre then faded into silent. A smile spread across her face, blush tinted her cheeks a warm pink. She thought about Hogarth as she finished dinner and sat the table. Deidre also thought about him as she ate dinner and was distant from her father's conversation.
Maybe she did have a crush on Hogarth all along, she realized. She just didn't want to jump to that conclusion right away. Of course Mr. Franklin noticed her daughter silently swooning, but he didn't say a thing about it, he just smiled, glad that his daughter had someone she likes very much. Deidre was indeed glad too, more than glad.
