Chapter Five
Beach Day, Part 3: A Wet Surfer
After surfing for a while this morning, Matt decided that it was about time for him to take a break; for him to take a break and get out of the ocean for a while, so that he could spend a moment with his wife after having surfed a couple of waves. But now that he's surfed a couple of waves, he decided that it was about time that he came to see Gabby and check on how she was doing, which was something he promised himself he'd do every once and a while, due to the fact that she's pregnant with their little one. If he didn't, he just knew that he'd go crazy. But little did Matt know that he had nothing to be worried about, as his wife wasn't even awake at the moment; rather, she was currently fast asleep on her comfortable beach chair. Well, he could only assume that she was comfortable, as she was fast asleep; something which made him smile and snicker a bit, due to the fact that it was adorable. So much so, that he decided to set his surfboard down in the sand so that he could sit down next to the woman of his dreams and wake her up.
Yes, he just said that he needs to wake her up, rather than let her sleep; and that's so that he can check on her, so that he can make sure that she's okay, though he's pretty sure that she is. Still, there's always a chance that he isn't and that it was the reason just why she was asleep; so, he just wants to check for his own sanity. And that's precisely what he was doing at the moment, as he sat down next to his beautiful wife this morning, while also placing his hand on her stomach and stroking it with his thumb as a way to (gently) wake his beautiful wife from her slumber. And if that was his goal, well it worked; as the moment he stroked Gabby's stomach with his thumb, she woke up and smiled at him. Meanwhile, he got a bit closer to the woman of his dreams as he grabbed her hand. "Hey." Smiling as she heard her loving husband greet her with his signature 'hey', Gabby took a moment to just wake up and adjust to her surroundings; while also placing her hand on her stomach as a way for her to breathe and just take it easy, which she needs to do.
But, now that she was relaxed, she decided to ask Matt how his surf was. "How are the waves this morning?" Matt snickered a bit when his beautiful wife asked him how the waves were, well aware that she doesn't really know much on that topic; but still, it was adorable how she decided to pretend that she was going to understand anything that he was going to tell her about how the surf was this morning. "Good, but I decided to come check on you; and it seems like you decided to take a nap while we were here?" Gabby smiled, nodding as that's precisely what she just finished doing (as if he couldn't tell); that was, until he woke her up. "Yeah. After posting on my blog, it turned out that I was a bit tired. So, I decided to take a nap. I mean, I hope that it was okay that I did that." Matt nodded when she asked him whether it was okay, as it most certainly was. In fact, Matt didn't want her to feel the need to ask her whether it was okay to do something if it was for the benefit of her health; or for the health of their child, as that's what matters.
If it's something that can make sure that she or their child are healthy, then they're going to do it. "Hey, of course it's okay Gabby. Please, never think that it's not okay. I don't want you to ever think that it isn't okay for you to take a nap when it's clearly what you need to do. You were tired, and I want you to take a nap if you're tired. Hell, we can even go home if you need to take a nap." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, especially since she loves this man more than anything in the entire world. "How are you feeling? Are you too warm?" Gabby smiled as Matt asked her whether she was too warm, as he was starting to get overprotective again. "You're getting overprotective again baby." Nodding, Matt stroked Gabby's stomach with his thumb once more; before leaning in and kissing his wife softly, the woman he was looking out for right now. "I'm just looking out for my family." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling at the man of her dreams; but not just due to the fact that he's her husband, but due to the fact that they're starting a family.
They're finally having a baby with each other, which is something which she's wanted for the longest time; she's wanted to have kids with Matt, she's wanted to have him a daddy. And now, that's precisely what she's doing. "I can't wait for us to have a baby, for you to be a daddy." Matt smiled as Gabby said that word: 'daddy'. The one thing he's always wanted to be, yet he was too stubborn to be okay with it until now. "I still hate that I was so damn stubborn for all that time." Placing her hand on top of Matt's hand this morning, Gabby shook her head as they're not looking back when it comes to that. They're both past that time in their life, and they're in a much better place; a place where they're more than ready to be parents. "I can't wait for our baby to come out looking like you." Matt snickered as he heard gabby say that, before stroking her hand with his thumb; while also playing with her wedding band, something that worries Gabby. So, she decided to pull her hand away; which only confused Matt. "Hey, why'd you pull your hand away?"
Gabby sighed. "I don't want to risk loosing my ring here in the sand." Matt smirked. "Well, then there'd be some real buried treasure here in the sand." Gabby blushed, before placing her hand on the side of his face. "Gabby, I can always get you another ring." Gabby shook her head. "Not one that can even come close to replacing this one." Matt agreed with Gabby, well aware of the reason why that was the truth; it was due to the fact that he picked out the ring with Shay's help. "She'd be happy for us, finally having gotten our act together and being pregnant." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before taking a breath. "Here, you want me to sit down next to you? Hold you in my arms?" Gabby agreed with Matt once more, as that's precisely what she wants. She wants Matt to sit with her and hold her in his arms as he gives her the comfort she needs at the moment; all due to the fact that she was just thinking about Shay. God, how her life would've been so much different had she not died; then again, maybe she would've died instead.
But now, she had Matt and was very happy; she was proud to be his wife and she can't wait to have his child. "So, you ready to be a dad?" Matt agreed with his wife, smiling at her due to the fact that he's more than ready to be a dad. "Yeah, I'm more than ready to be a dad; especially since you're the mother of our child. My wife who I'm so glad told me that we were having a baby somewhere other than in a bar." Gabby laughed, agreeing with the man of her dreams. "We're going to need to find a new spot for date night. And, we're going to have to figure out a date night schedule." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that most certainly is something that they can (and will) do, as he's determined to take Gabby out more often; especially before they have a baby. "We're going to go out on dates, I promise. In fact, we already have a date scheduled for Friday." Matt was confused. "We do?" Gabby smirked. "OB/GYN at 11, lunch date." Matt smirked, agreeing with Gabby as he bent down and kissed the woman he loves. "It's a date Ms. Casey." Gabby agreed.
Meanwhile, Matt thought about how they're going to the OB soon. "I can't wait to see the baby again, that's going to be fun." Gabby smiled, as it most certainly will be fun; that's something that always brings joy to the both of them: seeing their child. Which reminds her of something: "You ready to be a dad?" Taking a breath, Matt looked at the woman he loves; who was concerned, as she thought that would be an easy question for him to answer. However, based on the way he just reacted to the question, she wasn't so sure anymore. "Hey, what's wrong baby? What came to your mind when I asked you that question?" Matt sighed (again). "Just how I'm nervous that I'm going to screw up." Gabby shook her head, as that wasn't going to happen. "Baby, you're going to be a natural." Turning his head, Matt looked down at his girl as he wasn't sure. "Baby, listen to me; you're going to be a natural, which is something you can't deny." Taking a breath, Matt just accepted the fact that he was going to be a natural at being a dad. "You're right."
Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt as she laid her head down on his chest; while Matt wrapped his arm around her back, before bending down and kissing her softly. "I can't wait to see you be a mom again." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, before smiling as she looked up at him. "I already know that you're going to be a great mom, and it'll be nice for us to know that we'll have them for the rest of our lives." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that's something that she really likes the idea of; but not as much as the idea that she has in her mind. "Want to know something else I'm excited for?" Matt nodded. "I can't wait to hold the baby in our arms, as we cuddle up to one another in bed." Matt smiled, agreeing with Gabby as he bent down to kiss her again; only to see her yawn today. "Oh, you're yawning. Is it already morning nap time?" Taking a breath, Gabby sighed before apologizing. "I guess so, sorry about that." Matt shook his head, as she truly has no need to apologize for being tired. "Hey, don't you dare apologize for being tired."
Gabby agreed with Matt as she listened to him. "Especially not when it's for the sake of your health, and for the health of our child." Gabby agreed with her amazing husband as he said that, while also grabbing his hand once more; at the same time, Matt stroked her hand with his thumb and smiled as he pressed his lips to her forehead while holding the woman of his dreams close to him. Something he most certainly plans on doing both now, and when they're in bed with each other; something that Gabby wants to make sure he's okay with before they go. "Are you sure that you're okay with us going home baby?" Matt nodded as Gabby asked him whether he's okay with them going home, as he's more than okay with them going home; especially since it's so that she can rest, which is something that he'll always be ok with. "Babe, we're going home so you can rest. That's what we need to do right now, we need to go home and take it easy so that we can rest." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as that's precisely what she wants to do.
She wants to go home and take it easy in bed with the man of her dreams. "Then let's get up, and go home." Matt agreed with his wife, smirking as he watched her get up. "I mean, not like we both aren't going to enjoy what we're going to do at home." Shaking her head, Gabby laughed as she knew there was an ulterior motive behind them going home. "I knew it, I knew there was an ulterior motive for us going home. You want to go home because you're hormonal." Matt smirked as he looked at the woman he loves. "Oh, don't lie and say that you aren't." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she most certainly is. Which is precisely why she got close to Matt and wrapped her arms around him, while also leaning up and kissing him softly. "You know, we could always do something when we get home." Matt smirked. "Does it include me doing you?" Gabby laughed. "No, I was thinking a bath." Matt smiled, as he loved that idea. "Lingerie afterwards?" Gabby smirked. "Your t-shirt and little underwear?" Matt smirked, as he loved that idea.
After which, he bent down and kissed her softly. "Deal." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she wrapped her arms around him and just started to take things nice and slow with the man of her dreams; after all, a kiss is the perfect way to end their time at the beach (in her opinion).
