Chapter 9
Achoo! Human Again!
I kept scanning around the room to look for this mysterious women, it wasn't until i realised that i was sitting in amongst bat feces! "Yuk! Ewwww!" i shouted. I tried to flap my wings to get out of it but they were too covered and damp from the droppings "Could this day get any worse!" i mumbled. "I'll help you!" suddenly a voice shouted, it didn't sound like Keesha and Jyoti's but it sounded likethe mysterious visitor that was still somewhere present in the room. Suddenly my bat hearing were picking up the sound of footsteps. It made me a little nervious as my bat instincts were telling me to flee but i couldn't. "Keesha! Jyoti!" i scream hoping they would be somehow able to help me. "Ralphie!" Jyoti and Keesha scream, i really was shaking at this point not knowing who this person is or what they were going to do to me. I got up on my feet and began to flee on foot narrowing trying to avoid stepping in the bat feces on the ground. I then tripped and fell over. "Ralphie its ok, you can trust me i'm here to help you and your friends!" the voice again spoke and shortly after i turned around to see this dark figure hanging over me "I'm done for! Keesha! Jyoti! HELP!" i shouted. Before i could make a miraculous excape, i could feel a light showering over me and being carefully pick up off the ground "Its gonna be ok Ralphie!" i hear Jyoti voice from above. Why was Jyoti saying that everything was going to be ok? I was currently in some strangers hands being discovered and why weren't both Keesha and Jyoti trying to save me!
"Well at least you seem to be over your blood craving!" i hear the womens voice say, "Ha? Blood Craving?" i answer back to her in confusion still frozen stiff in her hands. All i could see was the light from what seemed to be a head torch and her hands were gloved, i couldn't feel any skin beneath my body. "It's bright! Too bright! Who...who are you? Please don't hurt me!" i shakily ask. As i felt her hands cradle me, "Ooops sorry!" she says as she uses one hand to turn the light off "I was forgetting that bats hate bright lights!" the women said as she continued speaking to me. Everything went to darkness again although i still felt a little blinded by the womens head torch, i began to squirm "There, there Ralphie, i'm a friend you can trust and i am here to help all of you get out of this mess!" the voice told me. I then began to feel her hands cradle me as i sat in both her gloved hands. Suddenly, my fears were melting away and i began to feel comfortable & warmth. I was unable to see her reaction on her face as it was too dark to see. I looked around the room to see if there was any moonlight left coming from the windows "Perfect!" i say before asking her if she could step into the moonlight nearby "Excuse but could you possibly go into the moonlight over there so i can see you?". "Certainly, i was just going to suggest the same thing, the torch light wouldn't have shown much!" the women happily answered, she began to walk towards the pool of moonlight coming from the nearest window. "You seem so kind, are you really here to help us? We do not even know you name?" Keesha yelled out from above us, Keesha took the words right out of my mouth "Yes ma'am what is your name?" Jyoti added. "Beatrice Oliver! My name is Beatrice Oliver and i do have a connection to your ex-teachers Valerie and Fiona Frizzle!" Beatrice happily answered to all of us. As she and i got to the edge of the moonlight we paused for a second. Then in a few short seconds she began to speak again "Ready to see what i look like?" she asked the 3 of us, we all answered to her nervously "READY!".
Beatrice slowly stepped into the bright moonlight in one step. I hear gasps from Keesha and Jyoti. As i felt the moonlight on me it really started to make me shiver with fear "Must be does bat instincts ha?" Beatrice asked me, "Yeah i guess!" i answered back quitely. I then turned around and saw before my eyes this kindly hooded women with a bright and gentle smile on her face. Striking a small resemblance of the Frizzle sisters, red wavy hair and skinny attractive face (although older looking). It was hard to pick out the colour of her eyes as Valerie and Fiona both had green eyes. "Hi Ralphie, Its nice to meet you!" Beatrice says with a grin "and nice to meet you too Keesha and Jyoti" she continued as she looks up above her trying to spot Keesha and Jyoti who were presumingly still hanging up there. Then 2 voices were heard Jyoti and Keesha both answered back to her "Same to you" Jyoti says "Likewise, please can you help us Beatrice! We would very much like to be changed back and be told what on earth is going on here!" Keesha shouts. "I understand Keesha! Odd things happen in this castle particularlly on Halloween and you 3 had been caught amongst it!" Beatrice answers firmly before she requests that both Keesha and Jyoti fly down closer to her. Jyoti and Keesha slowly swoop down, all you could hear were the flapping of their wings as the sounds of the resident bats had died down. "Good, now before all will be explained i have the antidote to change you all back!" Beatrice happily informs us, we all cheered as something good was now about to happen. It was the best news we have had all evening! "What kind of antidote?" Keesha asks curiously, "I have magic dust that will turn you all back into your original selves!" Beatrice happily says to us.
"Magic Dust?" i ask in confusion as i thought that since she was related to the Frizzle sisters that she might've had access to the Magic School Bus, "You seem surprised Ralphie?" she asks me raising her eyebrows. "Well..." i continue right before Jyoti interrupts me "Ralphie maybe now is not the time for questions, if Beatrice thinks that this magic dust is going to help us then i suggest we go for it!". Keesha agreed with her. Beatrice looked at the girls then looked back towards me, i was still in the palms of her hands "Please guys, i do not have any other magic devices with me not even the Magic School Bus and i please ask you all to trust me!" she states. The 3 of us all look at each other and all agreed that this possibly might be the only solution in becoming human again. Its was either become human again or stay as blood sucking bats forever. "Your no longer blood sucking bats Ralphie! I've fixed that! Your now just ordinary bats!" i hear Beatrice say, wait a minute did she just read my thoughts and what did she mean by she has fixed that?.
"Now then are you guys ready?" Beatrice asks us as she looks towards the flying Keesha and Jyoti and then back towards me "Oh you would me to start flying?" i ask nicely. She nods and smiles. I leaped out of her hands an begin flapping my wings. While Beatrice was still standing in the silvery moonlight, all notice her digging for something in one of her pockets of the coat she was wearing. Keesha, Jyoti and i looked at Beatrice in confustion. She took out her right hand and looked like she was was holding something "Must be the magic dust!" Jyoti whispered. Beatrice didn't say a word however she brought her hand towards her mouth and began to blow the dust towards us with no warning "HEY!" Keesha, Jyoti and i all shouted. She still didn't say anything. The dust was getting in our eyes and sticking to us like glue. It was a weird sensation, it wasn't gritty like ordinary dust more like a gentle feeling like baby powder "There that should do it! Now just relax and let the magic dust work its magic!" we hear Beatrice's voice say.
"Relax?" i shout trying to blink as much as i could to get the dust out of my eyes, its also getting it all up my nose "Argh! Its making my nose twitch!". Keesha and Jyoti agreed with me "Yeah its up my nose too!" Keesha says, "I think its going to make me sneeze! AAAACCCHOOO!" Jyoti shouts. Just then as Jyoti sneezes the dust on her began to sparkle a red colour, shortly before a burst of light and a loud thumb on the ground "Ouch!" we all hear. Then Keesha sneezed and the same thing happened red sparks were appearing around her before the same burst of light appeared and a loud thump on the ground "Ouch that really hurt!" Keesha says. I wondered if this was them turning human again. "Go on Ralphie, your turn!" I hear Beatrice say confidently to me, my nose was getting very itchy and indeed i felt like i wanted to sneeze. I closed my eyes in hope that this magic dust was the key in making us human again as i had no control, i was being forced to sneeze. "Ah, Ah, AAACHHHHOOOOO!" i yelled as i felt a change coming on, i think my body was transforming!. Before i could even open my eyes i felt myself hit the ground hard which made me yelp an almightly "OUCH! Talk about a hard landing!". "Oh sorry guys, i probably should have asked you all to be on the ground, before changing you all back! How do you all feel?" Beatrice asks in concern as she turns her head torch back on. Then there was slience, i was unsure of what Keesha and Jyoti were doing but probably were doing the same as me, madly feeling ourselves to see if we have skin, fingers and toes again. "I'm human again!" i shout followed by Keesha and Jyoti who also shout that they were human again!
