Hi Readers: And welcome to a quick update of The Caseys. And just like the last story, it begins after a skip. More specifically, it skips to Christmas due to the fact that I want to follow a similar path in both of the stories. However, I do also want to try and add on more. So, I may try and go back in the future so that I can add more content however, for now I am going to just keep going with this story; a story which I hope you enjoy…both the old one, and this new one (including all the new parts which I wrote). Thanks again for reading.
Chapter Fifteen
Kelly & Stella: Welcome to Honolulu
December 22, 2018 – Honolulu Int'l Airport Terminal 2 Arrivals
They just had to catch an early morning flight, a flight which would get them to Hawaii first thing in the morning (Honolulu time). But just how early are we talking exactly? Well, Matt and Gabby's guests basically flew here overnight so that they could be here as soon as they could today; so that they could be here at 8:30 in the morning, which was WAY too early in the pending father's opinion, especially when his wife isn't feeling the best. Hell, she doesn't even know that they're coming; so, he had to make up some lie and tell her that he was going to the gym. Yeah, not the best start to their day. But, he just hoped that Stella (not so much Kelly) being here would be a good way to get back into her good graces; and for her to forgive him, rather than have to beg for forgiveness. And if he does need to beg for forgiveness, then at least he's going to have Stella on his side. Then again, she'll probably be so happy to have Stella at their place to be mad at him; something which he's happy about too, as it means that he can get a Rom-Com break.
Not that he doesn't enjoy watching romantic comedies with his wife, as it means that he gets to cuddle up to her in bed; but, it's time for him to get a bit of guy time…especially with Kelly since he really needed this time. He needs time to relax and take it easy, to just get a rest before he goes back to Chicago in two weeks. But, if he was being honest; he'd love it if he'd move here so that he can be in the same city as him. Well, maybe he can talk to Kelly about it while he puts him to work; after all, he needs to paint the nursery. So, might as well do it while Kelly and Stella are here so that he can get help. However, not until tomorrow at the earliest; because, the truth is, Gabby isn't the only one who had a bad night last night. He had a bad night again, because he did it again; he made a supper that didn't agree with Gabby's stomach. And, as predicted, she ended up feeling like crap all night, which meant that they were both awake all night. So, she's going to take it easy. Maybe with him, he isn't sure; either it'll be with him or Stella (more likely the later).
I mean, that's only what he can assume; if she wants to spend time with the both of them, then he's not going to complain. Though he is going to complain over how long they're taking, especially when he wants to get back home and be comfortable; just like they're going to be in their guest suite. God, the two of them actually tried to book a hotel; he's glad he stopped them and told them that they were going to say with them, especially now that he has a huge home where they can stay for free. And he's sure that they're going to love that, as it means that they get more time with him and Gabby; time that starts right now, as he saw them come out of the airport with their things. So, he whistled to them to get their attention and make sure that they walk over to him; and let's just say that Kelly was shocked at the sight in front of him, especially the car which his best friend was leaning against. "Ok. Is that a Tesla Model X?" Matt snickered a bit, nodding as Kelly asked him whether he was leaning against a Tesla Model X; which he was, as it's his new car.
More specifically, his and Gabby's Christmas Gift to each other. Well, this car and a Tesla Model Y; the Model X being their Sedan, while the Model Y is an SUV. Something they can use when they have their baby. "Yeah, it is." Getting up, Matt smiled as he walked over to Kelly. "How are you man?" Walking over to Matt, Kelly smiled as he hugged his best friend. "Oh, I'm just happy to be here until the new year; especially now that my dad's feeling better, he was driving me nuts!" Matt laughed as he heard Kelly say that. "Yeah, that's Benny for you. How is he though?" Kelly snickered. "He's doing better, hence why he's driving me nuts; so, I am ready to just sit back and relax." Matt agreed with him, smiling. "Trust me, you will…for a couple days." Kelly was confused. "Just a couple days?" Matt smiled. "I have my best friend and my brother-in-law in town, and I have a nursery to paint." Stella smiled. "Oh, what's the gender." Matt smiled. "Kelly, don't worry; we're doing a Sky-Cloud themed bedroom rather than a pink bedroom." Kelly agreed with Matt.
Meanwhile, Stella could tell that he was happy about that. "You seem too relieved about that." Matt smiled. "I mean, I love that I'm having a daughter. But, I am not a guy who wants to see pink everywhere. I mean, unless that was what Gabby wanted." Stella agreed with Matt as he said that. "Yeah, you better watch your mouth when it comes to that. Remember, me and Gabby are going to be talking a lot over the next couple weeks." Matt just looked at Stella. "Oh, hush up before I put a cap on your spending spree that you're going to do on my checking account while you're here." Stella laughed. "Yeah, because Gabby would let you do that." Matt smiled. "I'm starting to wonder who you're more excited to see: your former captain, or my wife?" Stella smiled. "I'm happy to see the both of you; how are you anyways?" Matt smiled. "Oh great. Just been having to spend the past couple weeks dealing with lawyers, financial advisors; oh, and a sick wife who's stuck in bed right now." Stella sighed when Matt said that Gabby's stuck in bed, feeling sick.
After all, that's the last thing she wants for her best friend (and her husband) on their last Christmas before they have a daughter. "I'm sorry that this isn't turning out the way you wanted it to." Matt agreed with Stella as she walked up to him (again) and hugged him. "It's ok. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who can take care of her now." Stella agreed. "I promise, I'm going to help out." Matt snickered. "Oh, I'm not just talking about you Stella; by the way, you start studying for the exam?" Stella smiled. "Yeah, I did." Matt nodded. "But yeah, my mother-in-law's here too." Kelly laughed. "Sucker!" Matt just looked at Kelly. "You know, your bags aren't in my car yet; that means that I can buy you a ticket and send you back where you came from." Stella looked at Matt as he said that. "Do you really want to make Gabby mad?" Matt smirked. "I never said anything about you." Stella agreed with Matt. "Smart man." Matt laughed. "Stella, my wife is a Latina; and she's 15 weeks pregnant, with a temper. I know how to bite my tongue."
Stella agreed with Matt as he said that, smirking as she slapped his cheek before going to grab her carry-on bag. "Kelly, make sure that my smaller suitcase is easily accessible. That's my bag with the cozy clothes." Walking away to get in the front, Stella smirked as she went to get comfortable. However, Kelly looked at his girlfriend. "Oh no, I'm not getting cram…" Turning her head, Stella looked at Kelly. "Kelly, we're here for New Year's Eve; a place with a warm ocean." Matt agreed with Stella, well aware of what she was talking about; before looking at Kelly as he walked up to him. "Dude, I'm telling you right now. Shut up if you want to have a good swim in the ocean if you know what I mean." Kelly agreed with Matt, well aware of what he was talking about. "You and Gabby?" Matt smirked and agreed with Kelly, who soon hugged him. "My man." Matt laughed, while Stella looked at the two firefighters. "Ok. I've been on a place for almost 10 hours. I want to head to your place Matt." Matt agreed with Stella, well aware that was the case.
After which, Stella closed the door to the car so that she could get comfortable, while Matt looked at Kelly. "Let's get the bags, then we can get you home." Kelly agreed with Matt. "God, I can't wait to see your place. Wait, is it a mansion? Like a rich place?" Matt smirked. "God, why did you have to rub that in my face?" Matt smirked. "Uhm, did you enjoy your first-class seats Kelly?" Kelly was confused. "How did you know we flew first-class?" Matt smirked. "I paid for the upgrade." Kelly was shocked. "Ok, how rich are you?" Matt smirked. "$26" Kelly was shocked. "$26 Million?" Matt agreed. "Damn, that's crazy shit." Matt agreed with his best friend when he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, right? But this is not the time, nor is it the place to talk about that. I want to just take it easy and go relax with my family. I want to go now since I'm tired." Kelly agreed with his best friend, well aware that was the case. "By the way, we staying at your place? How many rooms?" Matt smiled. "Oh, only Camila is here right now."
Kelly was surprised. "Antonio comes tomorrow, he decided to stay at a hotel since he may be bringing his kids; my sister flies in December 26th after my niece celebrates with her dad, but she booked a 5-star beachfront resort." Kelly was shocked. "Did she get that as a…" Matt shook his head. "She inherited some money too, same amount as me. So, we're a wealthy family now. By the way, how did you guys get out of shift today?" Kelly sighed, which led to Matt just knowing exactly how they got out of shift today. "No need to explain, I get it. Well, you came to the right place for a distraction." Kelly agreed with his best friend, as that was the truth. "So, let's get in the Tesla and head back to my place." Kelly agreed with Matt as he went to grab both his and Stella's bags so that they can put them in Matt's Tesla, ahead of them heading home to surprise Gabby, who doesn't know about Kelly and Stella.
Matt's POV: As I pulled away form the airport this morning, I smiled because I had my best friend and his girlfriend in my car. "So, while we're on our way home, I want to talk to you guys about something." Kelly and Stella both agreed with me and listened. "I just need to let you know about the situation that you're walking into." Kelly was confused when I said that. "What are you talking about? Wait, are you and Gabby in a fight?" Turning her head, Stella looked at me. "What's it about?" I laughed. "No, it's not a fight. It's about what I told Gabby. The truth is, she has no idea about this." Stella was shocked. "Wait, she doesn't know…" I shook my head. "As far as Gabby knows, I want to get my sister, which means that she has no idea that you guys are the ones I went to pick up, because I wanted to surprise her. Cheer her up a bit since she's been sick." Kelly agreed with Matt, though he also decided to pay devil's advocate. "So, you lied to your wife three days before Christmas? Not a good idea man." I just looked at Kelly when he said that.
After all, I didn't need to get lectured by him. "Says the guy who lied to his girlfriend about being married before!" Turning her head, Stella agreed with me as I said that. "Yeah, shut up Kelly. Though, I have to agree that it wasn't the best idea." Turning my head, I looked at her. "I can always bump you down to business." Kelly was a bit confused as I said that. "Don't you mean economy?" I shook my head. "Push my buttons too much, and I might be tempted to; but, I'm not THAT evil!" Stella laughed, agreeing with me, while I decided to ask her something. "By the way, did you bring your books Stella?" Stella agreed but was confused. "I did, but why did you want me to bring the books I need to study for my lieutenant's exam?" Turning out of the airport, I decided to throw some shade at Kelly. "Because I'm going to do what your boyfriend hasn't done yet, and I'm going to make sure that you know what order to study things in. The best way to study so that you can learn things the right way." Stella smiled and agreed with me.
After all, she needed it; she just didn't know how I knew that Kelly wasn't doing it. "How did you know I needed that?" I laughed. "Do I really need to remind you that your best friend, just so happens to be my wife?" Stella laughed and agreed with me. "Well, I am going to have to thank her for talking to you about that." I nodded when she told me that, while I looked at Kelly. "And I'm going to talk to you boyfriend about that. Kelly, don't you dare think that you're escaping this." Kelly glared at me when I said that. "And why not? Last time I checked, you're my best friend; not my girlfriend." I just glared at him. "Because I had to listen to MY PREGNANT WIFE complain about it. God, I have a list of conversations that I need to have with you. And if I don't have them with you, then I'm going to be in trouble with my wife." Kelly agreed with me as I said that, well aware that me being in trouble with Gabby can easily turn into him being in trouble with Gabby, which is the last thing he wants. "Yeah, I don't want that to happen. A mad Gabby is a scarry Gabby."
I agreed with Kelly. "But not as scary as mad Matt, who's mad at you because you caused trouble in his sex life by making his wife mad!" Kelly agreed with me as I said that, as that most certainly is the truth. "Yeah, I can see that happening." I laughed and agreed. "Ok. Quick thing on the way. Stella, I need to talk to you about something." Stella agreed with me. "About the exam?" I sighed. "No, this is about what you need to do for me. Well, and for Gabby. You know that we live in a place that's much hotter than Chicago now…" Interrupting me, Kelly spoke up. "No shit, you lucky bastard!" I just looked at Kelly as he said that. "Kelly, please shut up; you're testing my patience. Did I mention that my wife didn't sleep the best last night?" Kelly gulped. "Oh, that's not good." I agreed with Kelly. "So, she's going to be extra moody and snappy today. And if she tells me to kick you out, then I will do that with pleasure. I don't care if you're my best friend, I want to be a dad." Kelly was confused. "What does that have to do with you being a dad?"
I groaned, as I hated having to explain everything. "God, grow a brain cell Kelly. Because stress means that there's a higher chance of a miscarriage!" Kelly agreed with me, just shutting up. "Now, can I go back to what I was saying? Because if you couldn't tell, you're testing my patience Kelly!" Kelly agreed with me as I said that, before shutting up. "Back to what I was saying. Hawaii is much hotter than Chicago, which means that she needs to stay hydrated Stella." Stella agreed with me, well aware that was the case. "You worry about that a lot?" I nodded, as it does worry me a lot. "Yeah, it does. And that's why I want you to make sure that she stays hydrated whenever you're hanging out with her. I always try and make sure that she drinks 2-3 liters of water per day." Stella agreed with me, smiling as she placed her hand on my arm and stroked it with her thumb. "I promise, I got it Matt." I smiled when she told me that, deciding to add on some more about what I said when I heard my phone ring, while also noticing that Gabby was calling.
God, so much for a surprise. "Seriously? NOW!" Kelly just looked at me when I said that. "Just ignore it, call her in a bit and say you were at the gym." Looking at him in the mirror, I was shocked. "Yeah, let me just ignore a call from my PREGNANT wife!" Turning my head to look at Stella, I sighed. "Can you please talk to him about what a woman needs from her partner which she's pregnant? God, I can't do it all the time. It's annoying!" Stella agreed with me. "I promise, we'll talk about that." I agreed with Stella, while also looking at the call. "You two, quiet." Answering the call, I smiled as I went to speak to Gabby. "Hey, you just taking it easy and resting in bed?" Gabby then spoke to me, clearly irritated. "Where are you? I told you that I wanted some chocolate chip pancakes when I woke up this morning! Where are they babe?" I then went to answer, until my idiot of a best friend decided that he just HAD to laugh when he had to stay quiet, which prompted Stella to turn her head and glare at him, while I reclined my seat to hit his legs. "HEY!"
Gabby then caught on that someone was in the car with me. "Baby, is somebody in the car with you?" Taking a breath, I sighed and just decided to reveal the secret. "Thanks a lot Kelly! You ruined my surprise!" Gabby laughed when I said that. "Doesn't he always? I swear, Stella better be in the front seat!" Stella agreed with Gabby. "Sorry girl for keeping this secret from you, but Matt told us to; and OF COURSE, I'm in the front girl! Your husband knows better, can't say the same about my boyfriend." I agreed with Stella when she said that, before adding on. "Oh, and because I'm going to let my sweaty friend sit in your seat in my Tesla Model X." Kelly then went to speak up. "HEY!" Looking at Kelly again, I got mad. "You want me to take you to the hotel Antonio's staying at? I'm sure he'll gladly drive you to and from the hotel to our place in his rental car, while Stella stays at our place!" Kelly gulped when I said that. "Nope!" I agreed with him. "Then shut up. And remember, I paid for your upgrade to first-class!" Gabby laughed when I said that.
Though, it was a happy laugh. "So, you flew them here first class? God, I love you baby!" I smirked when Gabby said that. "Yeah, I'll collect on that later." Gabby just laughed. "Yeah, when? When I'm not feeling sick? Last time I checked, I feel like crap. By the way, my mom just gave me a lost of the ingredients she needs to cook our Christmas meal. You want to go out today or tomorrow?" I sighed. "Gabby, you were up in the middle of the night as was I. It's no excuse but…" Gabby understood. "Right. I can just put an order in and we can get it delivered. Sorry about that." I sighed. "Thanks for the delivery offer, but please don't apologize for being sick when you're pregnant baby. Now, I know that you're going to want to take a shower; but can you at least have breakfast first? I'd rather you eat then take a shower since I'm not there. And I know that your mom's there but…" Gabby understood. "I know. She doesn't understand all the signs yet." I agreed with Gabby. "Love you Gabby. Just take it easy and go have breakfast."
Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "Of course. I'll see you three soon. Love you." I agreed with Gabby. "I love you too." Hanging up, I took a breath and just shook my head. "Seriously Kelly? You couldn't keep your mouth shut for FIVE minutes!" Kelly gulped, knowing that I was mad. "You ruined her surprise, which I really wanted to give her when she feels like crap! She sleeps like hell, can only eat certain foods that her stomach enjoys, and she's worried that something is going to go wrong this Christmas after hearing rumors from back home that her brother slept with Sylvie." Stella agreed. "We heard them too, but we can't confirm. But god, we've missed you." I agreed with her, smiling. "We've missed you guys too, but we haven't missed the snow. I love surfing every day, and I especially love being able to wear flip flops every day. It's so comfortable." Kelly laughed when I said that, clearly not believing me when I say that I wear flip flops every day. "Do you really wear flip flops every day?" I agreed with Kelly, as I do.
I really do wear flip flops all the time. "It's comfortable, even in the house. Very helpful when your wife is always in bed. I'm only barefoot in the middle of the night." Stella agreed with me. "By the way, can we please not see you walking around the house in your boxers?" I agreed with her. "I promise during the day, but not at night because I can't promise that; but, that means that your boyfriend has to do the same. I don't want my pregnant wife to be seeing that shirtless man around her all the time." Kelly laughed. "At least I work out." I snickered, especially after Kelly assumed that I don't work out. "Dude, I go surfing all the time; I live on a beach. I have beach access behind my place. It's perfect, and I can even access other surfing spots with my pickup since it's great for a surfboard." Stella was surprised when she heard me say 'pickup', clearly due to the fact that I already mentioned I have two Teslas. "So, you have a pickup AND two Teslas?" I agreed with Stella. "Pickup for work, Tesla for driving around." Stella agreed.
Meanwhile, I added on. "Anyways, I get a tax credit for having a Tesla, which I already bought outright, so the tax credit goes to paying off the truck." Stella agreed with me. "I can see why you guys like your life here so much, you guys really do have it all." I agreed with Stella, smiling as we most certainly do. "Me and Gabby are really happy here, but that doesn't mean that we don't miss you guys at the firehouse." Kelly agreed. "We feel the same way, you guys ever coming back?" I just laughed, as I'm never coming back. "Yeah, not when me and Gabby have plans to start a business." Kelly was shocked. "Really?" I agreed. "We can talk about it another time, as I'd love to get some help. We'd be more than happy if you guys decided to stay, then you can help us. But, we can talk about it another time; as I need to go feed my wife right now." Stella agreed with me. "Then let's go do just that."
