The second day is the aptitude test day. I am quiet nervous but I know that I shouldn't. We are told that we can never prepare for the test so I don't know how are they going to evaluate us . How can I do poorly in a test like this
I dress up nicely and comb my hair without looking into my mirror . I don't have a mirror in my room or bathroom because we are not allowed .
I walk downstair and my mom is making our breakfast and lunch so I have to make for our dinner . I sit down beside Maria and beatrice . Caleb is reading a book
"So where did you go last night?" Caleb furrows
"I went to eat with Abby and their family." I shrug."Jason coulter joined them later ."
It is partially true because Abby's parent were also eating with us last night so it isn't totally a lie
"You and Jason coulter are quiet close with each other ." Father is reading newspaper.
"You know that our father doesn't like erudite but you still choose to be friends with Jason coulter right?" Caleb is a little frustrated.
"Caleb please ， it is a personal relationship . Nothing to do with Delia and her friends." Father shakes his head ."I only don't like Jeanine Matthew not the whole entire erudite ."
Father raises his eye brows at Caleb . Caleb is quiet now . Mom serves everyone with a piece of toast and some scramble eggs .
She also pours us some water and milk but I am allergic to milk.
"I am sorry Delia that you are allergic to so many thing." Mom shakes her head
"It's fine . Jason gives me a cup of liquid that if I can drink for a month， those problems will solved . He already tested on many people." I take a bottle of liquid from the pocket."This one."
"He is really caring about you." Mom smiles at me
Maria takes the bottle and opens it. She is sniffing it.
"Smell like grass." Maria frowns
"It tastes pretty good but you can't have it." I take the bottle back
"Be nice Delia ." Father says
I scoop the eggs and put in my mouth . I don't like bread
"You can have them if you want." I give the bread to Maria" you like it don't you."
"Thank you sister." Maria giggles."You are the best."
"I have to go to school. Ted you can go with me ." I eyeing ted who just finishes
Ted gets up and walks me out of the house . I walk beside him until we reach the bus stop. Abby is standing there taping his feet on the ground
"Morning." I shuffle her
"Yeah morning." Abby is staring at the floor
"What is happening with you today. Not in the mood?" I smile at her
Abby nods at me . She is tired . Maybe because of Eric coulter .
"Because of Eric or max." I wrap my arms around her
"Both though, my mom really likes max . She wants me to say yes to him." Abby rolls her eyes . "I don't really want that."
"I know that Abby." I shake my head
The bus is here and we hop on the bus . Ted stands beside me . I sit with Abby at the back
"Ted you are more like abnegation than dauntless." Abby giggles . "No offence."
"Yeah I don't want to sit with other people so I rather stand." Ted shrugs . "I think that is a compliment ."
"Yeah that is ." I nod at him
We get to school and walk toward the cafeteria . Cafeteria is where we will wait for the test to begin. I sit beside Robert black our neighbour. He is waiting anxiously because he is wiping his hand on his slack multiple times in a minute .
I turn around and shift my attention to dauntless. They are shouting and laughing. Erudite are reading book and chatting about knowledge , Candor are talking quietly with each other and amity are playing a game in a circle.
I wander did all dauntless enjoying the chaos , did all erudite enjoying chatting about knowledge , did all Candor enjoying the lively debate and did amity enjoying playing those friendly games? However no one defying the faction norms anymore than I can
Now the teacher comes out and calls two names from dauntless, two names from amity, two names from Candor , two names from erudite and finally.
"Robert black and Delia prior ."
I stand up and follow Abby toward the corridor . I stare at Abby's head and walk straight. There are ten rooms along the corridor but they are only using for the aptitude test.
Most of the administrators are abnegation but there will be one from dauntless and one from erudite to test those of us who are from abnegation to be fair.
I stand in front of room5 and Abby stands in front room 4. The door slowly opens and I see a dauntless woman standing there fixing electrode wires
I look into the mirror which separates the rooms
"What about not looking into mirror for abnegation. No vanity right ?" The woman mocks
"It's not about vanity." I shake my head
"My name is tori . I will be running your aptitude test. Sit down and gets comfortable with yourself." Tori smiles at me .
I sit down on the recline chair and tori starts to put the electrode on my forehead . When she bent, I see a hawk tattoo on her back.
"Why the hawk" I ask
"Never see an abnegation before" she sighs . "I was afraid of dark before and in some ancient world hawk symbolized sun. I think that if I have a sun tattooing on me , then I will not be afraid of dark."
"You were afraid of the dark?" I narrowing my eye
She nods at me . I thought that dauntless are fearless but I am wrong
"It was one of my fear and it reminds me of the fear which I over come." She hands me a cup with clear liquid
"What is it? What will happen to me ?" I ask
"Button up." She hurries me .
I have to drink it or I will fail the test . I drink the liquid and very soon that I am drifting into my dream. When I wake up, I am still in the testing room though everything disappeared in front of me .
I have standing in front of multiple mirrors and I see multiple myself inside the mirror . I turn around and look at my reflection. I am shivering.
Then a table and two plates appear . There are a knife and meats in front of me in the plate.
"Choose ." The voice says
I look back to see who is it but no one appears at the door .
"What am I going to do with it" I ask
"Choose." The woman is yelling.
The voice is very familiar but I don't know whose is it. Then the plate disappeared and I am alone again in the cafeteria .
The door clicks open and I turn around to see who is coming in.I see a what rather than who. It is a black dog with thick furs and black eyes.
It is creeping toward me . I realized why the knife will be handy or the cheese . I can't run and I can't attack . What do I know about the dog? The dog can prey on human's secret when they are under duress and lead them to attack
If looking into the eyes is a sign of aggression , then what is the sign of submission? I slowly lower my body and look away .
After a few minute , I feel something is licking me . I lift my head and see the dog is licking my face
"You aren't a vicious beast, aren't you?" I relief a little . I feel lucky that I didn't pick up the knife
Then a little girl in white dress stands behind the dog . She stretches her arms open
"Little puppy."
I have to warn her but it is too late . The dog already runs toward the little dog and I run after the dog and jump. The dog disappeared and I wake up in the testing room
Tori takes off my electrode and drags me off the chair
"You have to leave and tells your parent that the serum makes you sick." Tori opens the back door
"What is my result?" I ask
"Abnegation, that will be what I am going to put into the system." Tori says
I stop her . I know that there is something wrong with me
"What is my real result."
"You have abnegation, erudite , Candor , dauntless and amity as result." Tori says worriedly .
"How is that possible ." I am shocked
Even though maybe I am not an awful person but that is still impossible for me
"It is possible and that is extremely rare . We call this kind of people divergent." Tori shakes her head . "Under no circumstances , you can't tell anyone that you are divergent okay? Divergent is extremely dangerous ."
She pushes me out of the room and closes the door behind me . Why divergent is extremely dangerous ? anyway I am not going to tell anyone
I leave the room and encounter Jason coulter
"Hey Jason" I smile at him
"Are you all right?" Jason grabs my shoulder . "You look ill."
"I am sick with that serum." I shake my head . I know that I can't choose Candor because I lie too easily.
Jason looks at me worried . He believes what I said
"I will take you back home okay?" Jason grabs my arm
"No jason, if I go home with you, my parent will ask me question. I rather walk." I say. "However thank you."
"Fine . Be careful okay?" Jason pats me on my back .
I leave the school and start to walk back home . I walk as fast as possible and when I reach near my house , I smell something awful——-factionless
They are picking garbage and cleaning themselves with dirty water . They all stop to look at me . I walk away quickly . I don't like them.
I don't understand why my parent like to help them . I get back home on time when my parent just come back
"Why you are earlier than you suppose to ." Father asks me
