Luckily, despite three people and two droids joining the Ghost crew, there were no issues with the cabins, as Ranasina had her own ship, the Shard. Which means Kanan and Kazu only bickered and argued when working together or when Kanan watches Kazu training Ezra.
"You plan what now?!", asked Kanan offended as Kazu explained Ezra's training to him.
"Force lightning.", said Kazu nonchalantly. "Us Kyber Knights use both sides of the force."
"Albeit our dark side is diluted to not fall to it like the Sith do.", chimed Ranasina in. "We don't commit to just one like you Jedi."
"But! What if he falls to the dark side?", asked Kanan.
"Then we help Ezra to return to the light.", said Ranasina. "Unlike you Jedi, we don't see our apprentices as a lost cause when one thing goes wrong."
"Just because... Whatever. I think Ezra would be better off just using the light side, like a Jedi.", stated Kanan.
"But I'm no Jedi nor your – what do you Jedi call them – Padawan?", chimed Ezra in.
They heard Hera yell from the Ghost, "Kanan! Stop picking a fight with Kazu and Ezra!"
"Yes, Hera! Anyway, I've noted Ezra is slightly disadvantaged in saber fights when he can't use the elemental effects.", pointed Kanan out, "Wanna fix that?"
Kazu said sheepishly, "Can't do much, it is my weakspot. I can't teach Ezra what I don't know. And Sina..."
"Hey! I could! You just don't want me to teach Ezzy!", said Ranasina annoyed, "Saying I would corrupt him against you."
"Mm, you did that with Mira when she joined!", argued Kazu back.
"More like Ephrahim did.", corrected him Ranasina. "Now Ezra, how is your force bow doing?"
"Good!", replied Ezra. He ran into the Shard, before returning with a bow made from metal hinges. It had no string. "Let me show you."
"Where is the string and the arrows?", asked Sabine.
"And how is that a force bow?", added Zeb.
"Lemme show you." Ezra took a kyber crystal out of pocket. He then put it into a little case in the bow, near the middle. A string of energy, white, spun itself in the bow. "Now what I actually wanted to show you." She spun it, without an arrow. Letting go, an energy bold appeared, hitting a helmet he put on a box a few meters away. "Arrowless! Now I only need one kyber for this."
"You need to aim, either way.", said Zeb, "But not bad. Can you apply elements?"
"In theory yes, but the bow is far from finished.", said Ezra.
Sabine came closer, "Okay, that is awesome."
"But not traditional.", said Kanan.
"Our order embraces invention. We literally formed by ditching the jedi traditions.", said Ranasina. "Now practice with that one."
"Yes, Granny Anasi.", said Ezra and ran off with Zero, who carried a helmet.
"And this is why I don't want you near when I train Ezra. You distract him.", stated Kazu annoyed. "Mm, I clean the Dagger."
"The what?", asked Hera.
"The Dagger, the Shard's counterpart to the Phantom.", explained Ranasina. "Unlike the Shard, that one is owned by Kazu."
"Ranasina, why does Ezra refer you as his grandmother?", asked Sabine, "In general, it is like everyone refers you differently."
"Oh, that. The order of the kybers is far smaller and more like a makeshift family, which is reflected in our titles. I'm his mentor's mentor, so he calls me grandma.", explained Ranasina. "Now for the dozen names, my name just gives many options. There is of course my whole name, as well as the core name. But also my given name, Anasi. Or my nicknames, Rana, Sina, Ranasi. Take your pick, but please stick with it. But only Ez and Kazu can call me Anasi, Given names are a big deal for us Chiss."
"Can confirm.", said Kazu, "A different Chiss had a total hissy fit when my master called him accidentally by his given name."
"Rana, you're from the Unknown regions, right?", asked Sabine. While Ezra trained with his bow, Sabine and Anasi talked culture.
Zeb was in the community room, playing Sabac against Chopper, while Bean cheered for both. Zero sold told him to pick a side. Sabine came in. She asked him, "Zeb, do you think Ezra would teach me to use his bow? Or that Kazu would teach me his style of saber fight?"
"Eh, I suppose. He made it clear that they do stuff different from the Jedi.", answered Zeb, still in his game he was loosing anyway. "Just ask, shouldn't hurt. Right?"
Ezra stepped into the Ghost. There he saw Chopper, "Have you seen Kanan? I need to ask him something."
"And that is?", asked Kanan, emerging from a door.
"You pointed out that I have problems fighting without elements, um, you're right. I wanted to ask if you may teach me...", asked Ezra unsure, as if he would break rules doing so. Not that Ezra cares about rule breaking most of the time. "I understand if you say no, considering you're a Jedi...are you allowed to teach minor stuff to outsiders?"
"Mm, only with the permission of the council, but they are unavailable at best.", said Kanan, "I help you out under one condition, you can't use the dark force while you train with me."
"Okay!"
Hera, Ranasina and Kazu stood side by side. Kazu was fuming while Ranasina was slightly laughing at this. But even Sina rolled her eyes when her apprentice muttered, "Stupid Jedi, can't even have his own apprentice."
"Mm, according to Chopper, Ezra asked him to train him.", told him Hera. "You admitted element free battle is your weak spot."
"Still annoying."
Sina told her, "Don't get Kazu wrong, he isn't angry just because he simply dislikes Kanan, it is jut that the Jedi often take Kyber Knight apprentices, even when they aware that they are already belonging to an order."
"Oh. No wonder Kazu is fuming."
"Exactly. And I do not mean like that time when you took Ezzy.", added Ranasina.
The droids, Zeb and Sabine were in the community room again. They were talking while Zeb lost Sabac against Zero (who Chopper and Bean cheered on), when Zeb said, "Have you seen Kazu and Kanan? It is as if they're arguing for Ezra's attention."
As if called, Ezra came in, saying, "Noted, and holy kyber, are they annoying. I did not think this would happen if I ask Kanan."
"Apropos your masters, would Kazu teach Sabine saber fighting?", asked Zeb. Sabine looked at him shocked that he would ask for her.
"I-I was unsure, because I am not sure what the kyber knight rules say. Do you have that age rule like the Jedi?"
"No. If we would, my mom won't have become a dame. Either way, Kazu would.", answered Ezra, "Unlike Jedi, we like to share our knowledge. If you want, you could become a full kyber knight."
"But doesn't that require to be force sensitive?", she asked.
"You aren't aware, aren't you?", said Ezra. "I can sense you're force sensitive."
Sabine was very surprised with that revelation.
Zeb, Ezra and Sabine were looking for Kazu. They found him and Kanan arguing like always. Zeb asked, "How do we get his attention?"
"Like this.", said Ezra, before pulling Kazu away from Kanan. "Need to borrow my mentor, Kanan."
"What you need, kid?", asked Kazu.
Ezra pushed Sabine to Kazu, she then asked, "Um... would you teach me? And could I join your order?"
"Seriously, Sabine?", asked Kanan offended.
"Uh, sure? Albeit you would need to ask Sinal, she is higher ranking.", answered Kazu, "Sina! Sabine wants to join us! Need your judgement!"
The chiss then came, Hera in tow. "No need to yell, Kazu. So, the Mando wants to join? Good. Considering Kazu is teaching Ezra, I'll take you under my wing."
"You say that as if I can't multitask two apprentices.", said Kazu offended.
"Well, considering Ezra felt the need to ask Kanan, a Jedi, you aren't even capable of handling one apprentice.", replied Anasi, gaining a laugh from Hera. "Now, let's start with the Kyber codex, how our order is organized and the basics of the force. Kazu, you track down the closest source for kyber crystals. Ezra, could she borrow one of your dozen sabers for training?"
"Sure!"
Despite Kanan's constant complaining, Sabine soon wielded two sabers, one purple for the sound style and one yellow for lightning. Now Ezra has a friend to shock Storm Troopers even more efficiently.
