Sitting on a bench in one of the numerous outdoors areas of the Indigo Plateau I enjoyed my lunch.
Watching as my pokemon enjoyed theirs as well right next to me.
Vulcan, as usual, took huge bites from his rather large bowl of pokemon food and practically swallowed them whole, without even hardly chewing. But considering his massive size I can understand why he's able to do that most of the time.
Strix is pecking at her food, yet she is almost done. Then again she has always been the faster eater on my team. Most likely due to the life she experienced before I caught her. Though as long as that learned behavior doesn't cause any major issues, which it hasn't so far, then she can continue doing it.
His back against one of the nearby trees Mihawk ate his food while his eyes scanned the entire area repeatedly. Since even though he acts like a lone-wolf most of the time I know he truly cares about me and the others. He just has a hard time expressing himself.
But as an introvert in my previous life I completely understand.
Against one of the other trees the happy couple on my team were having their meal in the normal fashion, ever since they mated.
My Mawile Run is feeding my Lucario Archer acting like it's a chore, when in fact I know she is loving every minute of it. I can tell because her tail head is slightly swinging back and forth.
As for the one in question being fed he is enjoying it as well. Though Archer is a lot more subtle with his feelings compared to his tsundere mate. But that's the reason I named her Rin in the first place.
Eventually Archer raised his left paw and stopped Rin from feeding him. He then took some pokemon food and offered it to her.
The moment this happened a huge grin, and blush, broke out in Rins' main face. As she ate the food Archer offered her I was filled with happiness that those two are going strong.
I don't want to have to deal with a nasty break-up on my team after all.
Turning my attention away from the two love-birds I observed Tesla and Brainiac eating and having some sort of conversation.
Though I can't for the life of me understand what they are talking about. Since the two of them are communicating using a series of beeps.
I kid you not.
As those two continued beeping at each other, pun intended, I noticed Ceto pestering Brigid. Most likely for a battle.
Seeing this I gave Ceto a glare, once she noticed it she stopped pestering Brigid. Once she did, my Aggron gave me a thumbs up which I returned in kind.
After I did so I focused my attention on the last two members of our merry band.
Magneto and Prometheus.
Who out of all my team are the most level-headed.
The two of them ate in leisure side-by-side. Since they are best friends.
Seeing all my pokemon were doing well I focused my attention back on my own food.
Then after finishing it up I cleaned up, then focused all my attention on today's quarter-final match.
A match my team and I will dominate.
I'm not being arrogant, it's just a fact.
Because compared to most if not all the trainers I've faced so far in the conference to get to where I am right now, my team and I are a cut above and then some.
The grinding we've put in every day for the past several years is finally paying off.
And it feels good.
Getting up, I went to stand in a spot situated within view of my entire team. I then clapped my hands a couple of times which drew all their attention toward me. "Ok listen up gang, today's our quarter-final match of the Indigo Conference. So as per the official conference rules that means today's battle will be a full six-on-six. As will all the rest of the matches we will participate in for the remainder of the conference." I explained. "So here is the roster I decided on for today's match. Tesla, Prometheus, Archer, Magneto, Brainiac, and finally Brigid. You six are today's lucky winners. Since you will be participating in today's battle."
"Pras! Lapras!" Ceto cried. Puffing up her cheeks in protest of my decision for who will participate in today's match.
She really loves to battle after all, but that doesn't mean I'm going to spoil her and give into her wishes. Especially with the opponent we are facing today.
"Ceto, throwing a tantrum won't change my mind." I told her. "Today's opponent is an ice-type specialist so if I used you that would give her an advantage. Which we don't want to do, right?"
Ceto stared at me for several seconds before slowly nodding her head.
"Good, so you understand why I chose who I did for today's match now, right?" I asked
"Pras." Ceto cutely replied.
"Good. So stop pouting." I told her. I then moved her to Ceto and gently started petting her neck, since there is no way I can reach her head. "I know you love to battle but as I've told you many times before sometimes your love of battling just won't be enough. So just sit out today's match and let the others handle it. Also, after today I promise to use you in the last two matches of the conference."
Ceto perked up instantly when I said that. Getting a gleam in her eyes that I knew very well.
It means she's okay now.
Good.
Now we can focus on winning our match without any distractions.
Stepping back from Ceto I looked at my team. "Ok team, let's go out there and win!"
I got shouts of agreement from all of them.
Which made me love this team I assembled all the more.
It really does feel good to be a pokemon trainer.
Returning my team to their pokeballs I cleaned up and then started making my way towards the main stadium.
Where my team and I would achieve a victory that would bring us one step closer to being crowned tournament champions.
Just like the day before I found myself in a nearly pitch black tunnel, save for the small array of lights overhead.
My body feeling a rush of excitement as I waited for my match to begin.
"Ok ladies and gents, yesterday was quite the show but I feel that today will be even better. So without further ado let's begin the first quarter-final match of this years Indigo Conference!" The announcer yelled.
As the fans in the stands roared I made my way down the dark tunnel and soon found myself in the sunlight, surrounded by hundreds of spectators.
Ignoring them I took up my position on my side of the battlefield, while sizing up my opponent as I did so.
Which is a girl that looks to be a couple years older than me with long wavy light-green hair and amber-colored eyes like my own. Her attire consists of black pants, black shoes, and a dark-green crop top that is doing nothing to conceal my opponents womanly figure, or the two well-developed mounds on her chest.
My eyes lingered on them for just a moment before I re-focused on the task at hand.
Unlike other men I won't let my libido be my downfall.
"Ok folks today we have quite the match up. In the green corner we have the 'Icy Angel' Monet Glaze, from Mahogany Town! And in the red corner we have the 'Steel Tyrant' Magnus Braze, from Olivine City!" The announcer yelled.
As he did so I gave him a flat look. I mean 'Steel Tyrant'. Really? He couldn't have come up with a better nickname? Also who the hell said he could give me a nickname in the first place?
Whatever.
Ignoring my suddenly bestowed nickname I took a pokeball off my belt and enlarged it. My opponent Monet doing the same.
"Let's have a good match." She spoke.
"Sure." I replied.
"Match, begin!" The referee exclaimed. Swinging down the two flags in his hands as he did so.
The second after he spoke Monet and I tossed our pokeballs at the exact same time.
When they landed on the field our pokemon appeared simultaneously.
Mine being Magneto, while Monet was a Cloyster.
"What's this?! The 'Steel Tyrant' has a Probopass?! My it's only the start of the match and yet we're already getting quite the treat folks, for we are about to have the opportunity to see a rare pokemon battle up close and personal!" The announcer exclaimed.
The crowd cheering loudly after he did so.
But just like a few minutes ago I ignored them and kept my thoughts focused solely on winning the match.
Oh and as for why the announcer called Magneto a rare pokemon, it's because currently he is.
Because for reasons completely unknown to me the only known regions in this world are Kanto-Hoenn and the Orre region from that one side game that introduced Shadow Pokemon. Everything Generation Four and beyond is just absent. From the regions to the pokemon introduced in them, except for a few like my Probopass. Though the evolution method of evolving a Nosepass into a Probopass is not common knowledge. Hence why currently it is considered a rare pokemon. A pokemon that I have thanks to my meta-knowledge.
Man, I sure love my meta-knowledge.
But back to my main point.
I have no idea how entire regions are simply unknown, but I hope it doesn't remain that way in the future. Since if the other regions don't appear I'll never be able to acquire some of my favorite steel-type mon like Empoleon, Excadrill, and the metal dragon from Galar, Duraludon. Just thinking about those pokemon fills me with happiness and the urge to add them to my team so I can make them the strongest of their species in the entire world.
An endeavor I tend to make happen with all my pokemon.
"My, to bring out a rare pokemon to battle little old me. You sure do know how to make a girl feel special." Monet spoke.
"I do what I can." I replied. Shrugging my shoulders slightly as I did so. "Besides, these are the final rounds of this years Indigo Conference, so why not try and make them special? That's one of the main reasons the Indigo Conference is held in the first place after all."
"Right you are." Monet replied. Putting a smirk on her face after she did so. "So with that let's cut the chit chat and get started."
"Took the words right out of my mouth." I replied. Answering Monets' smirk with a small one of my own.
"Cloyster, Hydro Pump."
"Block it with Protect, then use Earth Power."
Cloyster released a powerful stream of water at Magneto from the spike directly above its head. But just before it hit Magneto formed a bright blue sphere around himself and blocked the attack.
Then immediately after it ended he slightly levitated himself into the air, thanks to the strong magnetic fields he is able to generate, and then slammed down onto it. His actions caused cracks to form in the ground across the entire battlefield and earth energy to erupt from them.
Cloyster released several cries of pain as it took damage from the field-encompassing attack.
"Don't let them set the pace, Cloyster. Use Supersonic."
Oh no, we can't have that.
"Taunt, then hit them with Discharge." I spoke.
"Pass." Magneto grunted.
As Cloyster got ready to release sound waves Magneto stopped it from doing so. He then unleashed multiple powerful bolts of electricity from his entire body which slammed into Cloyster, sending it skidding back across the battlefield in Monets' direction. Releasing cries of pain as it did so.
When Magneto finally stopped his attack Cloysters' body had sparks of electricity dancing over it, and it could barely move. Telling me and everyone else Discharge had managed to induce paralysis.
Nice.
"Stealth Rock." I said.
Flying from their positions on Magnetos' body his Mini-Noses spread out around the entire area of the battlefield and then started flying around it in a circle, the circle glowing a bright blue as they did so. Once a few seconds passed they returned to their original positions on Magneto.
Seeing this Monet clicked her tongue.
Because now she can't switch out her Cloyster without causing her other pokemon some pain.
That's the very reason Stealth Rock has become one of my favorite moves to employ. It leaves my opponent with limited options. All of which are in my favor.
I put them in a rock and a hard place.
Pun absolutely intended.
"Cloyster, Spikes!" Monet shouted. Obviously trying to cut her losses. Since she knows her Cloyster cannot win against Magneto she's trying to give the rest of her pokemon an advantage.
Smart.
But just like earlier, we can't have that.
"Taunt, then Zap Cannon." I said.
Cloyster was stopped from sending out its spike. Then just as it was Magneto formed a giant sphere of electricity in front of its body half its size and then launched it in Cloysters direction.
The mollusk pokemon didn't even have time to dodge.
As the sphere of electricity slammed into its body Cloyster cried out in pain as it was engulfed in smoke from a mini explosion.
When the smoke cleared Cloyster was lying unmoving on the ground, down for the count.
Giving me the first victory of the match.
"Cloyster is unable to battle, Probopass is the winner." The referee spoke.
Right after he did so Monet returned her Cloyster. "Good job, take a good rest." She told it before placing it back on her belt. She then took off another pokeball and immediately sent out her next pokemon.
A Walrein.
"Walrein!" The walrus-like pokemon roared as it landed on the battlefield with an audible thud.
But that didn't do anything to stop Stealth Rock from activating, and causing several rocks to sprout from the ground and slam into Walrein. Though after the attack the pokemon didn't look any worse for wear. In fact, Walrein looks like that Stealth Rock didn't really affect it in the slightest.
Now I know why Monet chose it as her next pokemon. Its defense and durability must be quite high. Still, that alone won't help her achieve victory.
"Discharge." I spoke.
"Rollout! Dodge it, and then let them have it!" Monet exclaimed.
Magneto unleashed several bolts of electricity in Walreins' direction. But it started rolling in a ball and dodged them all. It then closed the distance and slammed into Magneto, sending him skidding slightly back across the ground. Then before he had a chance to recover Walrein slammed into him again, and then again. Turning the battlefield into some sort of pinball game.
Magneto grunted each time he was hit, but held his ground.
"Good, say strong." I told him. "Use Gravity, and stop that Walrein in its tracks."
"Earthquake." Monet spoke.
Stopping its rolling, Walrein slammed its tail into the ground, and the second after it did so the entire field shook violently. Letting out a cry of pain Magneto shook just as violently as the field and didn't manage to get off his Gravity in time.
"Hail, then use Ice Beam."
"Stop that with Taunt." I spoke.
Magneto tried, but due to the Earthquake he ended up dazed and was a split second too late. That allowed Walrein to summon forth a cloud that started raining hail across the battlefield. Then after this happened it generated a ball of ice-type energy in front of its mouth and then several beams sprung from it and raced towards Magneto and struck him.
Tanking the attack Magneto grunted, more in annoyance than anything since compared to facing Cetos' ice-type attacks in training this is nothing for him. Though the attack did start freezing his body.
"Don't allow this to go on any longer. Blow through that Ice Beam with Power Gem." I spoke.
"Pass!" Magneto exclaimed. After he did so the two Mini-Noses on the left and right side of his body detached themselves and then turned in the direction of Walrein. Right after they did so both gloweed and then unleashed powerful beams of rock-type energy which tore about the beams of ice and then struck Walrein. Which caused the walrus-like pokemon to scream as it took massive damage.
"Defense Curl, endure it!" Monet said.
'Bad move.' I thought.
"Sunny Day, then Fire Punch." I spoke.
Just as Walrein curled itself into a sphere shape to endure Magentos' attack he stopped and then a miniature sun appeared above the field, doing away with the hailstorm. Once this happened both of the Mini-Noses floating in the air near Magneto became ablaze with fire and then flew straight at Walrein, slamming into it without any hesitation.
"Walrein!" It cried as the attack from the two Mini-Noses sent it skidding across the field, right in front of Monets' feet.
As the two Mini-Noses returned and re-attached themselves to Magneto we waited for Walreins' next move, but from the damage covering its body I don't think it's getting back up.
"Walrein, get up." Monet spoke." I know you can do this."
"Rein. Walrein!" It screamed. Then going against my expectations it rose off the ground and slammed its tail into it, glaring at Magneto with a fire and determination to continue the battle in its eyes.
Commendable.
Truly.
Unfortunately that won't be enough to beat us.
"Rock Slide." I said.
"Dodge using Rollout." Monet said.
Summoning large boulders around itself Magneto hurled them at Walrein. But just before any of them hit it it curled itself into a ball and started rolling down the field in the direction of Magneto, dodging all rocks hurled at it as it did so.
Getting faster and faster as it progressed down the field, Walrein was going extremely fast as it managed to reach Magneto and slam directly into him. The second after he did so he unfurled himself and seeing that my danger senses started going off.
"Magneto, get out of there." I said.
"Too late. Walrein, Hydro Pump." Monet spoke.
Walrein unleashed a torrent of water from its mouth which slammed directly into Magneto, sending him flying out of the battlefield and into the stadium wall behind me.
Turning around I saw the torrent of water stop and Magneto stuck in a small crater in the stadium wall.
Out cold.
"Probopass is unable to battle, Walrein is the winner." The referee spoke.
"Oh, and that brings the score to one-one folks. It looked like Magnus and his Probopass had the match in the bag, but then Monet and her Walrein turned things around! Just what can we expect next in this battle?!" The announcer exclaimed.
Getting the crowd to cheer as he intended.
Yet I paid them no mind and simply returned Magneto. "Good job." I told him. I then placed his pokeball back on my belt and turned back around to face Monet and her Walrein. Both of them with a fire in their eyes. Yet not a trace of arrogance.
Good.
If they got cocky after simply defeating one of my pokemon I would be sorely disappointed in them as opponent's. Which I don't want to happen. Since I am thoroughly enjoying this battle. Even if it has only just started.
'Yes, this is only the beginning. I hope you and your pokemon can keep me and mine entertained longer Monet.' I thought. Because I don't want this battle to end too quickly.
Selecting another pokeball from my belt I sent out my next pokemon.
"Brigid, show them your stuff." I spoke.
Just as Brigid landed on the field in a superhero landing pose. Numerous cracks appearing along the ground underneath her where she landed.
Standing to her feet Brigid unleashed a powerful roar, which shook the air itself. "Aggron!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. Drawing the undivided attention of the crowd, Monet, and her Walrein towards her with that single action.
I couldn't be more proud of her right now.
Wiping away an imaginary tear from my left eye I gave Brigid a thumbs up, which she returned in kind by giving me a claw up. Once she did so she began focusing all her attention on her opponent, Walrein. Beginning to exclude an intense pressure as she did so.
Since although Brigid is basically the mother figure on my team, it doesn't mean she's a pushover. In fact she's one of my top three strongest pokemon currently, being beaten out only by Brainiac and Vulcan. Even Ceto isn't stronger than her when she fights seriously. Making her one tough mamma.
"End this, Thunder Punch." I spoke.
"Aggron!" Brigid roared.
Then with speed faster than most pokemon of her species are capable of she bound across the field in a few steps, coating her right fist in electrical energy as she did. Reaching Walrein she delivered a right hook directly to its face, smashing its head straight into the ground. The resulting force of the attack creating several cracks in the ground immediately after Walrein's head slammed into it.
Silence reigned throughout the entire stadium as Brigid moved away from Walrein after delivering her Thunder Punch to its head.
Since that one attack put the walrus-like pokemon down for the count.
Monets' mouth hung open slightly as she glanced at Brigid and then at me.
In response I simply shrugged my shoulders slightly.
Since there's nothing for me to say.
This is the result of my team's training, and I think it's doing perfectly well speaking for itself. Therefore I will continue to let it do so.
"Um Walrein is unable to battle, the winner is Aggron." The referee finally managed to say. Since he too was just as stunned at Brigid display as everyone else. "The competitor has thirty seconds to return their pokemon and send out another or they will be automatically disqualified."
Hearing the referee's words Monet snapped out of her daze.
She then hastily returned her Walrein and sent out her next pokemon.
A Glalie.
As it started staring down Brigid she cracked her neck from side-to-side and the pops she made while doing so were very audible.
Looking at the Glalie who is getting ready to stand against her I almost feel sorry for it.
Almost.
A/N: Here is chapter two!
So to celebrate the release of my story I will be doing a chapter a day until Monday. But after that I will probably only do one chapter a week, and for the release date it will be on Fridays or Saturdays.
So stay tuned in.
