Harry had wanted to go and have words with that awful muggle father of young Severus Snape. Unfortunately, he and Lily had been ratted out to their parents - the grandparents Harry had never gotten to know in his own time.

Worst of all however was when he couldn't control the body he was in, nor speak the words he wanted. Everything either went by in a hazy flash, or he'd wake up days, or weeks, or months later. He didn't know where he'd gone. It was just with a blink of an eye that it happened.

He'd catch glimpses or hear small parts of conversation. Calla and Lily still met with Severus, but not as much as Harry would have liked. The memories of the body he inhabited would come at him like a bludgeon all at once.

He awoke dizzy one day, at the tender age of eleven, although he himself was not actually eleven, that was Calla.

Through the eyes of Calla, Harry stared down at the letter from Hogwarts. He couldn't help the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth even as he felt dread in the pit of his stomach.

Lily cried out, "Oh, Calla! We got our letters! Severus did speak the truth!"

Harry nodded and felt the red strands tickling the side of his neck. He'd have liked to ask for a haircut, but he wasn't in his own body. He knew it wasn't his, that he wasn't Calla. And yet he swore he heard an echo in his head that Calla wasn't sure it was the right body for them either.

He froze at the notion he'd invaded and shared someone else's body, someone else's life. Didn't matter that it was a member of his family no one had ever mentioned to him. Sometimes he wondered if he was still only dreaming.

Perhaps, when he arrived at Hogwarts he could try and speak with the Headmaster.

He worried at his lower lip while staring at the contents of the letter. Would telling anyone be wise? Perhaps not. Who could he tell? Who could he trust?

Severus Snape?

Maybe not with this. Certainly not while he was only a child of eleven years.

Lily asked, "Should we see if we can go see Severus, Calla?"

He winced at the idea, because they'd gotten into trouble before. Hiding something like that and going off to a town, an area that the Evans' didn't trust. To them it didn't matter if they had a friend there, because if they were going they needed adult supervision. They'd been grounded. It was far more bearable than dealing with punishments from the Dursley's.

Petunia's smug expression when they'd gotten into trouble had his hands curling into fists, but she was just a child. He would not throw a fist.

"Do you think Mother will allow it?" Calla asked. Harry wished he could hear his own voice. Sometimes he wasn't sure who was talking, him, or the original owner of the body he inhabited.

"If we ask nicely. Maybe we'll see him at the park?"

Harry didn't mind and followed the girl that would one day be his mother - and how weird was that to think!? - outside to where their parents were working in the yard.

Lily called to them, "Mum, Dad?"

They turned around at her voice and stared at them, each smiling.

"Yes, dears?" Mother Evans asked.

Lily answered, "We've gotten our letters from Hogwarts and…," before she could continue their parents came to them and hugged them both.

"That's wonderful news!" Father Evans boasted.

"It is. We've got two little witches. I wish we could keep them here and teach them, but they need this."

"They do."

Petunia had overheard and came up to them, arms crossed, "Why can't I go too?"

The parents looked at each other and then at Petunia.

Mother answered, "I'm afraid only those who can do magic can go, dear."

Petunia stomped her foot, "It's not fair!"

Lily glanced at Harry, and he stared back. He really had no idea what to say here. He still wondered if things would have been better had Petunia been able to go. But then she'd not be able to defend herself against other students using their wands. What a conundrum.

"We know, Petunia, but we must follow the rules. Magic has laws just like our Ministry."

Petunia tucked her chin into her chest and glanced away.

Lily nodded to Harry and then asked, "Mum, Dad, could we, please, just this once visit Severus so we can tell him?"

The parents looked at each other and nodded. "Very well. Just this once. No more than half an hour girls."

Petunia gasped. "You're not serious!?"

Father Evans patted Petunia on head. "Don't worry dear, we'll do something you want after."

"It's all his fault anyway that little freak!"

"Petunia Evans!" Mother Evans rose her voice and Petunia winced and muttered an apology.

It wasn't long before they were in the car and on their way to Spinner's End.

Calla and Lily got out and knocked on the door.

Harry was glad enough to see it early enough that maybe Mister Tobias Snape wasn't there.

Eileen opened the door and greeted them. "Oh, it's you girls again." She turned her head to call to her son.

Severus stepped out; his own letter held in his shaking hands.

Lily grinned, "Look Calla, he got a letter too!"

Harry giggled and wished not for the first time that he sounded like himself. "Of course, he did!"

He noticed the way Mrs. Snape glanced at the letters, chewing on her lower lip, eyes half-lidded in thought.

If he could sneak out of the Evans later that evening and stop anything from happening that might be because of that letter, he would. But there was a sense of dread that he might not be in charge of the body he'd found himself in. Or that he might just jump ahead. Again.

Severus stared at them.

Harry smiled, "You're excited for Hogwarts, aren't you, Sev?"

He nodded, and a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

Harry could see that Eileen Snape however wasn't smiling, but fretting as she wrung her hands.

The Evans came up and Mother Evans asked, "How are you Mrs. Snape?"

The woman gulped and stared at them. "I'm fine. Tobias should be home early today."

"That's good, isn't it?" The Evans couple asked.

Harry wished he could say something, but he already knew that adults so rarely listened to children. Although the Evans were so nice. They kind of reminded him of Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.

"I, well… yes," Mrs. Snape said hesitantly.

Severus glanced at his mother with furrowed brows and ducked his head, his hair hiding his face from view.

Harry could tell that not all was well. He reached out his hand - Calla's hand - and took hold of one of Severus's and drew him outside onto the front lawn. Small as it was.

He looked around and spotted a tree with a few flowers. The tree was gnarled and splintered. It probably would be removed soon. And the few flowers, well most were wilted as if uncared for, or trampled upon too often for anyone to save them from their fate.

"What house are you hoping to get into?" He asked young Severus Snape as they were followed by Lily while the adults stood around and spoke near the entrance of the house.

Severus stared down at his feet. "It'll have to be my mothers house."

"Why?"

Severus shook his head. Harry could see he didn't want to tell him and he wondered if there was any way he could help.

Petunia had stayed in the car and glared out at them, lip curled petulantly.

Harry wished she would just get the stick out of her unmentionable places. How the Evans could have two such different daughters… three? He knew not. He still wish he knew why Calla existed and how he'd never heard of her. Had he wandered into a dream? Into another dimension? If not, then what in the past had caused Calla to disappear from every single memory!?

Lily watched them and smiled, "I'll be happy with any of the houses."

Harry didn't say anything. He didn't want to befuddle the future too much. There were things he'd love to change, but what if in trying to change them he made it worse? What if, things that were set could not be undone like the Whovian universe.

Severus stared at the letter still in his free hand, then his gaze stared at Harry's, no Calla's, no Harry's… it was so confusing, holding his.

Dark eyes looked up and into Harry's. Severus smiled, and Harry wondered why the Snape's hadn't gotten him to see a dentist. Not that his teeth were so crooked it was a problem, but he knew some individuals who would tease him mercilessly for something he could not control.

"Wherever we end up, Sev, we'll be the best of friends, won't we?" He knew they weren't best friends, but they'd kept in touch as much as children could with parents that didn't let one of them have much fun and didn't let their children go places unsupervised.

But, they were children. Only eleven. Just, Harry wasn't, not that he was all that many years older, but he had so much more experience under his belt.

Severus blinked, and whispered, "Always."

Lily gasped, "Awww, you two are so cute!"

Harry felt his face get warm and noticed Severus duck his head and scuff his old worn-out shoe against the ground. Maybe if he and Lily sold lemonade they could make enough to at least get Severus a gift of new shoes. But he knew he'd not accept them either. He was too proud and what if his parents… his father… How could he get the police on the man's case? Was it even possible in the era he found himself? They could try and maybe give him the shoes at Hogwarts if Harry couldn't find a way to get Tobias Snape in gaol.

Unfortunately, apparently just thinking the mans name had him appearing, smelling of grease and sweat. That didn't matter. That he smelled like an entire bottle of beer was. Like he'd been drenched in it.

Tobias Snape growled out, "And who're these people woman!? Get rid of 'em."

Mrs. Snape gulped and nodded. "Of course, dear." She turned to the Evans and smiled wanly, "I'm sorry, we'll have to cut our visit short. Tobias and I have plans…"

They nodded to her. "Very well. Thank you for your time, Mrs. Snape."

She nodded to them and turned to gaze at Severus. "Come along, Severus. We don't want to keep your father waiting."

Severus, stiff backed trudged to the door and inside. He turned his head to stare back almost wistfully at the twins before heading further inside.

The door slammed shut behind Eileen Snape.

As they were driving off, Harry winced as he heard shouting and the smash of a bottle.

"Mum, shouldn't we call the police?"

Mr. Evans shook his head. "They won't do a thing. It's frustrating, it is. They'll go to the house and the wife won't admit to the truth. Or if she does she'll go right on back to the man."

"How do you know?" Lily asked.

Petunia huffed. "They just do."

The Evans didn't say anything until they were parked in their driveway.

They turned to stare at their three daughters.

Mrs. Evans ran her hand over her mouth. "I'm afraid I've seen it before. I've heard of the Snape's. Those in Cokeworth are even worse. Their police force terrible. However, Mrs. Snape has been offered to be escorted off the premises. Been asked to testify against her husband. Nothing has ever come of it. She spent a few nights in a woman's shelter, but then not even a week later she was back there."

Harry wished it was otherwise. "What about Severus?"

"Oh Calla, dear, no one wants to separate a child from their mother. And if Severus doesn't say something himself and they don't get evidence when there is any, I'm afraid the law offices are tied. Between a rock and a hard place."

He hates it. This. And if he were to kidnap Severus he'd be a criminal. Or make his family into it since he's only just a child by the eyes of the law while inhabiting - possessing? - the body of one. Though officially he isn't yet born himself.

This is all too frustrating! There's so many things he wants to prevent. Severus going into Slytherin at all, or at least from joining Voldemort. Maybe he can find the Horcruxes? Yes, that seems manageable if they're all still in the same places and that hasn't changed too. And if he can keep control of the body he's in long enough to do so.

Once they're at Hogwarts, he'll ask Severus to help. If he'll believe him. But he also doesn't have the invisibility cloak or the Marauders Map. The former belongs to the Potter family, the latter has not yet been invented.

Only time would tell if he could manage it. If not, then he didn't understand what the point of being here was at all.
