"Open your text books to pages thirty-two through thirty-five, and read them out to yourself. I'll be giving out work papers to fill out. Make use of the material on those pages to assist as well." After assigning the task, Mr. Wong gives the order and goes back to his desk.
In the carpool lane. Everyone is gathered in front of the school, waiting for a bus or to be taken up by their parents.
"My mom is taking us all to hockey practice." I've come up with a couple new strategies that I believe Coach Smith will approve of. Kendall elucidates.
"Kenny, he's never turned down any of your ideas." Logan observes
"I want things to continue that way because I know how important it is. My father and him were the greatest of friends. Because my father is no longer present at our games, I would prefer that Coach Smith not see me."as a burden." Kendall replies
"He will never hold you responsible for your father's absence. It's not your fault." Logan consoles him.
"That's great of you to say, but I think if I fought harder to keep my parents from arguing all the time, they'd still be happily married. Katie occasionally inquires as to where he is. I believe she is too little to grasp why he went and why he will not return. I can't think of a gentle way to convey it to a 5 year old like her. All she knows is that we have a father. She understands he was only involved in her life for a short period. I believe she observes other students being picked up and dropped off by their fathers at school and wonders why she does not receive the same treatment." Kendall says
"She is entitled to feel that way. Does she cry when she sees it? Has she expressed any rage over it?" says Logan.
"No, she's more focused on becoming friends. That hasn't happened, which saddens me. She is a cute little child. Her class consists of approximately twenty students. Nobody has expressed interest in simply saying hello to her. Young children can be so cruel." According to Kendall.
"They're only age 5. They are still gaining knowledge. Katie lacks the fundamental social skills necessary to make friends. Of course, it probably annoys and depresses her constantly, but I believe that given enough time and tolerance, she will make her first buddy." Logan remarks
They all climb into the car when Ms. Knight eventually arrives. They play hockey on an ice rink, and she drives there. They enter the structure and proceed to the changing area to change into their team attire.
"Have you rethought resigning from being team captain and giving the role to me?" Harvey claims.
"Not in the slightest." Pulling on his skates, Kendall says.
Don't bring it up any more. That will never occur.
"I'll make sure it happens." With much determination, Harvey says.
"Your efforts will be meaningless because you don't put effort into anything for long." James states
"Let it go already." Carlos states
"Please for all our sanity." Logan states
Entering the ice, they all leave the locker room.
"Coach Smith" I've got a fresh game plan. Do you believe the entire team will benefit from it? With a piece of paper in hand, Kendall asks.
"This is a very well thought out plan Kendall." Coach Smith remarks, taking note of it.
Yes, I believe we can include this into our practice for today. Everyone, pay attention. Kendall has developed a new team strategy that we will implement. Take it step by step. Have faith in your captain of the team.
"Every little notion he has shouldn't have to be heard from! What happens if we have unique thoughts? Harvey takes issue.
"Do you have a beneficial idea for the team?" Coach Smith states
"Sure. I am the captain of the team." When his teammates sigh with disdain, Harvey responds, but he frowns.
"Harvey, I don't see any need to make it happen. It's obvious that you don't get along with your teammates, and I am aware of your behavior at school. This team cannot be led by a bully. You will either play as directed or be placed on the bench. Do you get it?" Coach Smith states firmly
"Sure, sir." Harvey mutters
Resuming is practice. Logan, a less seasoned player who wasn't raised in a chilly climate, finds the new tactic to be extremely beneficial. Though he still favors a warmer temperature when it's available, he's gotten acclimated to it by now.
Following the Knight residence's practice. It is the lads' responsibility to complete their schoolwork. Because it makes him happy, Logan is the only one who is totally devoted to achieving it.
Everybody is in Kendall's room. The other three lads are laughing and frolicking about the room, seemingly unconcerned with their homework.
Guys, this is how we're supposed to do our assignments. On mine, I can hardly focus. Relax and give it a try. You don't want Ms. Knight to come in here feeling agitated. Seated on a bean bag with a sports motif and a flat, sturdy box serving as his table, Logan issues a warning.
"It doesn't require you to be such a nerd." For a moment, James says, forgetting that his small, sensitive pal detests the word.
"Whoa, I'm only attempting to help. I can tell when I'm not welcome. I'm heading out. Even though it was an accident, " Logan claims that his friend would still disparage him if he were clearly harmed.
"Logan, wait. You're not required to go. He meant no harm at all. says Kendall
"Don't stand up for him. That is how he really feels. I'm not coming back. It is his responsibility if he doesn't succeed in school. I was only attempting to be helpful, but I ended up receiving disdain instead. I'll see you guys tomorrow, bye. Says Logan, walking out of the room.
"Not cool, dude." Disappointed, Carlos tells his taller companion.
"You consider your words before speaking. We remind you of that all the time. Kendall concurs.
"It happened by mistake. I apologize." James responds in a defensive manner.
"Say sorry to Logan, not to us." says Carlos.
James and Carlos head home after thirty minutes. After dinner, Kendall retires to bed.
