She couldn't shake the unnerving feeling she woke up with that morning. The Elders were deciding the fate of their former rogue missing nin S ranked criminal Uchiha Sasuke, the butterflies in her stomach couldn't settle as she eyed his back.
It had been 2 months since the war had ended and Sasuke had also returned to the village Hokage Kakashi was able to pull some leverage and Sasuke was able to stay out of jail pending trail if under ANBU supervision. Since his stay he had requested that Sakura and Naruto be prevented from seeing him.
Naruto of course did not take that lightly.
"HE SAID WHAT?! THAT TEME!" the loud blonde cried as he began marching toward the door of the Hokage office. Immediately he was held back by the medical nin of his team.
"Naruto no! If he doesn't want to see us we should respect it." she said before turning to Kakashi "thank you Kakashi sensi" she said before releasing her hold on him and exiting the office.
That did little to no help. Hours later she was called into emergency surgery on Naruto for battling all of the ANBU set to protect Sasuke even if it was from his former teammate.
The bang of the gavel against the desk in the center of the room snapped her away from her thoughts. They came to their decision.
"Before we continue Hatake Kakashi, Uzamake Naruto, Haruno Sakura please step forward and take stance among the Uchiha" the venom that laced the last name was apparent. Danzo did never like the Uchihas, it gave Sakura a glimmer of hope. Maybe just maybe Sasuke wouldn't be sentenced to death. She looked around the room her eyes meeting those of her mentor, her teacher. The look the former legendary sannin gave her made all hopes leave her body.
Something was wrong.
Fear replaced the emotion, her eyes looked over unexpectedly meeting Sasuke's. She could drown in his eyes without a second thought. He was nervous too, for a moment she was able to see it in his eyes before he hid it like all of his other emotions.
Kakashi sensi stood next to Sasuke and in between him and Naruto. Sakura stood on Naruto's right and on the end of the Team 7 row.
"Uchiha Sasuke, your crimes against Konoha and all of the land cannot go unpunished...but you did not act alone. Your team helped enable you on your journey of destruction. We have decided all of Team 7 is on trial and we have come up with result."
Gasps and murmurs immediately filled the room. Sakura's eyes flew to Tsunade's in shock, the woman looked back at the emerald eyes of the beautiful kunochi she mentored and shook her head.
"Kakashi, you ultimately bear a lot of responsibility for the Uchiha was your student. Your failure as a teacher led him down a dangerous path."
"KAKASHI SENSI IS THE BEST TEACHER YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT!" Naruto screamed as he glared at the Elders.
"UZAMAKI YOU WILL BE SILENT OR BE FORCED OUT" Dazno yelled back with just as much disgust.
This is bad.
"Naruto." Kakashi said sternly before giving him a look. They a knew it, Naruto got the message loud and clear. Shut up.
Dazno nodded at Kakashi as a form of thank you before he decided to continue. "But you have been a loyal and great shinobi as your father was. Also with your possession of the sharingan you are a true asset to the village. You will be sentenced to probation for 5 months with an ANBU captain."
"Uchiha Sasuke, your crimes are unspeakable and unforgiveable...with that said you're the sole survivor of the Uchiha clan an asset to the village and 1/3 of the new generation legendary sannin. You are sentenced to one year of probation with chakra blockers until that point, no mission, no leaving the village"
As stoic as ever Sasuke's face remained unmoved and unbothered.
"Uzamaki Naruto you failed to stop your former teammate from unspeakable destruction and even continued to chase him rather than defeat him. If the Uchiha had been taken out as ordered from the start most of the crimes would have never been achieved. But due to your father Fourth Hokage Minato and you being the vessel for the nine tailed demon, 1/3 of the new generation legendary sannin a harsh punishment would be ridiculous. You are sentenced to 3 months probation, A-B ranked missions only."
Confusion set on Sakura's face before it dawned on her. "Oh god.." Sakura whispered before she stumbled back. Tsunade let her head bow refusing to meet the young woman's gaze. Not this time.
"Sakura-chan!" Naruto exclaimed as he reached to help her stand.
Kakashi looked to Sakura with raised eyebrows before it dawned to him as well. She was always too smart for her own good. Sasuke remained in his spot but eyed the interaction between Naruto and Sakura. She whispered something he couldn't understand and apparently neither could Naruto as he looked at him as if she had grown an additional head.
This time Koharu the woman Elder spoke "Haruno Sakura you are the most respected and talented medical nin Konoha has bred, you came from no historical clan or position of power. You climbed to the top on pure hard work. A member of the new generation legendary sannin. Your nickname is known across all lands as the Cherry Blossom of Konoha. You fit the embodiment of the flower with beauty grace and peace."
Sakura had now stopped crying and kept her head high, she was a kunoichi. She had to be strong she couldn't cry in front of him.
"With that said your achievements have showed us it can be attained by anyone. Haruno Sakura, you're sentenced to death."
as the words left her mouth chaos ensued.
It was all a blur even as she tried to think about it now.
ANBU immediately surrounded Sakura whisking her away from Naruto's grasp which burned. She felt pain where he once touched her. She couldn't see him but she heard Sasuke was screaming. Kakashi was at her side wedging himself through the ANBU helping them escort her. He wanted to get her out of there. as she looked back to the remaining men on her team Naruto hah unleased the demon as he had once before and Sasuke had his chidori charged. Then it all went black.
