There is a girl named Becky Rath. Until she was only seven years old, she had a great life. She lived peacefully with her mother and father in Ohio. They had each other with their hopes and dreams. It was a magnificent life for a young girl. Then one day, while Becky and her parents were on their way home from a carnival, a terrible thing happened.

A deer surprisingly came from the woods and that caused the parents to crash the car killing them. Now this as you can well imagine, was a horrible experience to two gentle parents. They're dead and gone in fourteen seconds flat.

Becky's troubles were just the beginning. For she was sent away to live with her step aunt and uncle. Their names were Bree and Sloan. They treated Becky like a slave and they beat her up for no reason at all. They made her wear rags and forced her not to say a word unless she is spoken to. They even made her sleep on a lumpy old mattress in the basement.

Bree's the one who told her that girls should be seen and not heard. They also gave her less water to drink. As time went on, she became sadder and more lonely. After Becky lived with her step aunt and uncle for about two years, there came a time when she decided that she has had enough of the mistreatment and run away.

She wasn't sure when she would.
