-(Author's Note)-

Hey there and hello to the 4 or 5 people reading this! Before I start writing this, I want to thank all my close friends (Drew, Lyric, Brandon, Nova, Crazy, Star, Wolf and Maya in no particular order), for being amazing and being my inspiration to finally come back to and really flush out this story. This is the final rewrite I intend to do of Keifer's Story, and it won't diverge from the main canon at all; it's not its' own separate continuity, as this is a fully canon, companion-story to Kassi's GTiG and a part of the main GTiG Canon as a whole, akin to Wolf and Kat's GTiG or WLaMA. A TON of story-boarding between me and Nova, alongside you guys in the server voiting on various things has helped fully shaped Keif into a character I'm proud of. Considering he was originally made in less than 3 minutes back in the day, I DARESAY he's changed a lot. Now, all that outta the way, here's what you came here for.

I'd also like to say this... no one is forcing you to read this story. No one can make you read it and if you don't like it, just click away. Super easy to do, takes less than 5 seconds.

Another thing to note, this is not a self-insert story. When creating Keif, I was god awful at naming characters, so I just slapped my name on the game I made, kinda like naming a character in a video game. NOW, without further ado, story time.

Chapter 0/PROLOGUE;

Enter: Keifer!

It was far too late. As Jullie held the clearly positive pregnancy test in her hands, so much went through the young woman's head that it was borderline nauseating… which certainly wasn't helped by the fact that she had begun experiencing the morning sickness that came with pregnancy.

"He pulled out – I told him to!" She was referring to her… husband. "Oh Arceus Theodore isn't gonna be happy."

They had just gotten back from a vacation the former had forced them into going on. While Mothersbane was accessible outside of Galar, it was way more expensive outside of Jullie's home region.

The only explanation was that Theodore didn't pull out fast enough. Because Jullie knew he didn't want a kid. Some must've still gotten in her…

Thinking about sex, combined with the stress and worry of the situation, the woman had to stop herself from throwing up again.

Jullie Penn was pregnant.

"Why don't you just get rid of it? Saves us both trouble." His response was irate and low. Theodore didn't look up from the newspaper he was reading as the kitchen radio blared on about a PokeBase game going on over in Sinnoh.

"…Theodore!" Not once since Jullie had found out she was pregnant did the thought of terminating the child come to her mind. Was she as scared as a Stantler in Headlights? Oh, that was underselling it. But…

"I'm not giving up the baby. It's our child." Jullie did her best to be soft and firm, despite knowing the latter almost never got her anywhere with her husband. A part of her had been hoping that the man would've been elated to hear that he was going to be a parent – that maybe, just maybe that'd be what Theodore needed to kick his drinking addiction…

But as she watched him down and crush another can of booze, that went out the window.

"Your child. You're choosing to keep it." He was already opening another can before he even finished talking to her. "Once it's born and grown a bit we can have em' do the farm work – gives us adults more time to ourselves." She hated how oily and almost heartless the man sounded, but she knew better than to protest or fight.

Leaving the dining room, Jullie stepped outside, feeling another wave of hard-hitting emotion.

Theodore hadn't always been like this – back when they first met as kids at Wedgehurst Academics, he was one of the nicest, strongest boys in her class.

All throughout their journey they had taken together, Theodore had always refused alcohol of any kind – didn't matter if it was from a can, bottle or cooked into some kind of food.

It wasn't until the after-party herself, Theodore and all their friends held after their league run had ended that the at the time 18 year old Theodore decided to try alcohol.

That night began the slope. It was slow at first – sometimes at meals or on dates he and Jullie went on…

But then it became semi-frequent, before becoming every day to cope with the pain of farmwork after he and Jullie had gotten their place together in Postwick. Despite there being an infinite number of ways to handle the pain in far better ways like Jullie or any of the other Wooloo farmers in the region did, Theodore fell further into his alcoholism.

It made him into a bitter, cruel man, and eventually, any sign of the man Jullie had fallen in love with was gone. She tried to get him to go to rehab, counseling, had even had an intervention between her, Theodore and his parents, but…

None of it worked, and neither did the off-shoot hope she had today. She couldn't just up and leave him, either; her livelihood was this farm, especially thanks to her brother Milo helping her get it and helping her get some bigger-note contracts.

And now that she was pregnant… she was going to have to rely on Theodore, which would also mean putting up with… his more adult desires outside of alcohol.

Jullie didn't dislike sex – she enjoyed it, but not constantly. And, after he started drinking… Theodore had become a lot worse at it and wanted more of it more often.

The woman sighed, sitting down in the swinging chair on the front porch.

"Breathe Jullie, it's okay. It's gonna be okay. You're a Penn. You can do this."

When Jullie had learned what her child was going to be, she was elated.

"A boy? Looks like I'll have a grandson in a few months!" Jullie's dad, Luke Penn, was surprised when he first heard the news. "Do you want me to help you get his room set up?"

"Thanks Dad, but Kelly's already coming to help me with the shopping and getting the room set up." Even though they were speaking over the phone, the older man nodded regardless.

"Theodore refused to help?" A few years ago, he would've never asked that; not when Theodore was a good man. But now… one of Luke's biggest regrets was giving Theodore his blessing to propose to Jullie.

"He's… tired from farmwork dad." He heard Jullie's sigh. They had already had a meaningful conversation about the situation that somehow didn't escalate into an argument; Jullie didn't want to give up the farm nor did she want to have to move back in with her dad. She had made it firm to Luke that things would work out.

No matter what.

"Well… alright then Jules. Take care and don't hesitate to ring your old man if something comes up, alright?"

"I promise, dad." Jullie wished her father could come over more, but… he and Theodore butted heads a… lot.

With that, their call ended. Putting her flip-phone back in her pocket, Jullie put a tentative hand on her growing stomach, a warm smile spreading on her face.

"You'll be with me before any of us know it."

"Alright. Jullie, flip the switch!" At her brother-in-law's request, the green headed woman nodded. After Jullie and Kelly had gotten back from shopping for the former's unborn son, they had also called Jullie's brother-in-law, Charlie 'Chuck', for further assistance with getting the wiring in the bedroom done.

Despite being twin brothers, Chuck was a far cry from Theodore. Where as the latter was a drunk who fumbled with farm work, the former own and ran a successful mechanic shop in Motostoke.

"Oh my Arceus, Chuck! It's amazing!" Jullie had spared no expense in terms of making sure her son would be comfortable in his bedroom when he was born, also making sure to get a baby monitor so she could come-a-running if her baby had a nightmare during a nap or if something else was happening.

She wished Kelly could've stayed to see it, but her own recently born daughter, Kassi, was getting fussy so it was time for Kelly to take her home for a nap, leaving a few minutes ago.

"Aww shucks Jullie. It's just some simple wiring." Chuck smiled to her as he made sure the plugs were more than out of reach. "There anything else I can do for ya before I head back to the shop?"

"I think I'm all good. And, are you sure you don't want me to pay you at all? It doesn't hurt me any to-"

"I already told ya, you're family. Even if you and my brother hadn't gotten hitched. We all traveled our entire region together – won't charge ya for some wiring work that took me thirty minutes." The two shared a hug and Jullie waved him bye as he left.

For the second time that day, she gently rubbed her stomach.

"I can't wait for you to meet all of them."

It was late fall – when the leaves started to turn orange and cover the ground, when the Wooloo got ready to raise their new young and the morning singing of Rookidee became the next choruses of Corvisquire and fledglings learning from their parents…

And this fall in particular was when Jullie's son was born. She hadn't been alone at the hospital – her brothers and father had been there, while Theodore had been who knows where… (most likely one of the bars he frequented but Jullie wasn't thinking about that.)

Currently, the new mother was sat in her home, gently rocking back and forth in the recliner situated near the T.V and fireplace. The smell of baked goods wafted through the air – no doubt the work of Jullie's lifelong Pokemon partner, Mari the Alcremie, as the mother held her son close.

Nine months.

Nine months had led to the bundle of life and joy that she now held close to her body.

"Do you have a name for him?" When her family had finally been allowed into the delivery room, that was one of the first questions she had been asked.

It had taken the woman almost the entire pregnancy term to come up with her son's name. Theodore, still having wanted nothing to do with his kid, hadn't been any help in the naming department.

Jullie wanted the boy's name to start with a K – after everything Kelly had done to help her throughout her pregnancy, despite her having recently had her own daughter midway through Jullie's own term…

She had looked on all sorts of different websites on the computer she had for work e-mails and had even checked out a few books.

And that's when she found it. A name that stood for long life and good virtue.

"My baby boy's name… is Keifer."
