Smallville. The name may suggest otherwise but it's not that small, but it is no metropolis. On one of the farms, a young man whom appears to be around sixteen years old woke up. It was only a few months ago he started living there. Was it odd he already called it home? He didn't think much of it, it was time to rise. The young man looked in the mirror. He saw a well-toned muscular young man with short black hair and blue eyes. He would get a shower, and clean up. He would up on a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt and get down.
"Morning, son. Today's a big day so Ma is fixing up a big breakfast. Pancakes." The man known as 'Pa' said.
"Pancakes sound good." The young man said, his voice soft and betraying no emotion. It was kind of weird that in the short amount of time these two jolly old farmers took him in and considered him a son already. He didn't know what parents are like. But they were good people and for that suffices.
"I made lots of them, knowing Kryptonian metabolisms and all. Eat as much as you like." Ma said as she scooped some of the thick fluffy pancakes on a plate. "Old family recipe. Buttermilk, twice sifted flour, dash of vanilla…"
The young man put his fork in the pancakes, and tore of a piece and put it in his mouth. Like everything Ma made, it was utterly delicious. "It's good." He said softly. "Where's Clark?"
"Right now dealing with something in Metropolis, but he says he can fly over quickly to see you off. He wouldn't miss it. Not everyday he sees his little brother off to school." Pa said.
It was something else. The person whom called him a little brother…right after he was saved from his previous home…not home, the facility he was born. He was taken in by the person whom would have the most reason to be repulsed by him. But instead he took him in his family. It was nice of him. He didn't understand a lot of the emotions he felt now, but they were pleasant. But to be fair, he was technically only a few months old despite his look.
"I'm sure you'll do fine in your new school. People won't judge, you get the help you need…and the friends whom saved you from that awful facility are also there so you at least you'll know a few people there." Ma assured him.
"That is fine, I guess." Conner said. His answers were simple. But despite having a lot of knowledge programmed into him, social interactions were still beyond him. Being born in a lab will do that. But Ma, Pa and Clark seemed to be able to pick up on that and didn't mind.
"I got you a lunch pack. A few of my special sandwiches, and a slice of homemade apple rhubarb pie." Ma said. "No matter how good the school and the cafeteria, nothing beats homemade foods." Ma said.
They found it so easy to like him and take him in. He didn't know it was his sheltered upbringing, but part of him couldn't help but wonder why. Something else he needs to figure out by learning to be…Human. And the school he'd go to would give him a bit of normalcy to enjoy. Or as normal as he could be.
"Am I still in time?" another voice said as they were joined by another person. He looked like an older version of the young man, only in a blue suit and with dorky glasses.
"Clark, you're just in time. I made pancakes!" Ma said.
"Lovely and…I also smell pie." Clark said with a soft smile on his face.
"Made one for Conner's first day. But I made a spare one in case you would come." Ma said. "Or actually because I knew you'd come. But not right now, pie is not breakfast food. Later."
"The pancakes sound good, though." Clark noted as he joined his family for breakfast.
After breakfast, they took Conner a bit out of the way, at the edge of the farm where they didn't do much with that patch of land. It had a big of junk like a broken down tractor and a few haybales. However, when they opened up the old tractor's hood, a portal came out. "Zeta Tube ready." Clark said. "Just don't forget, you don't have to do this because we suggested it."
"It seems for the best. They can teach me things, I get to be actually schooled and not programmed and I get to see…I think they're friends." Conner noted.
"You'll do fine, boy. It's another step you take in having your own life. Just know if it doesn't work out, go straight home, ok?" Pa suggested.
"Half-Kryptonian. I don't think there is much that can harm me." Conner assured.
"That's not what we mean and you know it. If you are emotionally not feeling up to it." Ma reminded him.
"I'll be fine." Conner noted.
"How about a final hug for the road." Ma said as she spread her arms. It was a token of affection that Conner needed to get used to. But it was nice, even if he stiffened up a bit. Soon Pa Kent and Clark also gave him hugs.
"Take care, little brother." Clark said. "Know I'm proud."
Conner just nodded and stepped into the portal as the computer voice sounded. 'Recognized, S-04, Superboy!' As he stepped in, he touched his cheek and felt something wet. He hadn't noticed he cried a bit. So that's what tears of joy were like. Hoped no one saw that, he had a rep as the collected one.
On the other side of the portal a few familiar people waited. He recognized him as the other young heroes whom had sprung him from the Cadmus facility. Bart Allen aka Kid Flash (formerly Impulse), Tim Drake aka Robin, and Kaldur'ahm aka Aqualad. "Greetings, my friend." The dark skinned Atlantean greeted.
"Sup, Supes Jr.? So crash to see you." Kid Flash said as he pointed with both hands at Conner.
"Are you excited to start at the Academy too?" Robin asked. "Not feeling too overwhelmed? Or underwhelmed? Maybe just whelmed?"
"That is not a word." Aqualad noted.
"It's a word-play!" Robin noted.
"I think I'll just be…whelmed." Conner noted. True word or not, it was the best way to describe himself.
"See, he gets it!" Robin noted.
"He doesn't know any better." Kid Flash joked.
"Don't mind them." Aqualad said. "While we see many more fellow students, We have been joined by a few others for now. Let's introduce you."
"Hi!" A green skinned girl with long red hair, and darker green spots resembling freckles were visible on her face. Her eyes were green and her lips a darker shade of green. If it wasn't for her green skin she'd be almost human. But the outfit also gave it away. White shirt with a red x, white gloves, a blue cape, shorts and boots. "I'm Miss Martian, niece of the Martian Manhunter. Nice to meet you. I'm so glad to be here because I always wanted to be a hero and I get to work with my big brother whom is on the staff…not that I want special treatment. Are you also glad to be here? I hope we can be friends because I want to learn of course but I also want to have some Earth friends to hang out with and talk and get into shenanigans and am I talking too much?"
"Yes." A different voice said. A young woman with white hair, and a half-orange, half black outfit leaned against the wall. The black part of the suit covering her head didn't have an eye, only a single white eye which seemed pupilless and white thanks to the mask she wored; She had a pair of swords on her back.
"Ease up, Rav. She's just excited." Robin said to the girl. "Superboy, this is Ravager." Kid Flash snorted as if to suppress a laugh. "Oh come on, don't be an immature teen."
"I am an immature teen, forgetting how old we all are?" Kid Flash said.
"Think my codename is funny?" Ravager said. "Your name doubles as a meaning for indecent exposure."
"Yowch! Little spitfire. Takes more then that to make me feel the mode." Kid Flash said.
"I can make you feel pain." Ravager said.
"Kinky." Kid Flash said.
"Cut it out you two. Instead of bickering, let our new friend a proper introduction." Aqualad noted.
"Er…I'm Conner. I mean, Superboy. Er…I'm half Kryptonian and I have some of Superman's powers. That's about it." Conner said.
"I like the name Conner. It reminds me of my fav tv show…er, I mean not that I watch…er, Hello Megan!" Miss Martian smacked her own head. "I'm making things awkward and I'm so sorry it's just I normally communicate mentally because Martian so psychic powers am I right? Able to convey conversations much quicker but not everyone on Earth takes kindly to it and I have to ask first and then still be careful, wouldn't like if I did that right?" Miss Martian blabbered.
"How do Martians breathe because it can't be through the mouth with how much she talks." Ravager droned.
"No, I wouldn't like that." Conner just replied, as if to answer a normal question. Was for the best, his usual short and simple responses avoid tensions. "Er…I appreciate you warning me." He had enough of mental communication after Cadmus, at least Miss Martian was polite.
"We're all excited to be here. But first, you need to get into a hero outfit, you're still in civilian garb." Aqualad said. "Luckily we got you an outfit."
"I think this should be about your size." Robin pulled out a bag, and from said bag he got a t-shirt with the superman logo, a blue jacket, red gloves and goggles. "How about you get changed?"
"Sure." Conner said. He didn't see the point since he didn't have a civilian identity yet. The name is what Ma and Pa gave him but the Justice League would take care fo paperwork. He removed his normal black plain shirt, showing his muscular abs for the world to see.
Miss Martian went from green to red. Literally, not a blush her entire skin turned red as Ravager whistled. "Er…best you get another room when switching into the pants. Before the girls would die of overexcitement." Kid Flash suggested. Miss Martian eeped as she covered her face as Ravager smirked.
Conner felt like he didn't get other people quite yet.

Leslie Willis was her name. Or it used to be. A troublemaker at school, had a very controversial blog which she used to blast everyone at her school, and at times superheroes. She was not well liked as a result, they called her problematic. She didn't care, other people didn't. Not even her family, to them she was a problem child so not much to care about. Then fate was a bitch. Sure, she got a cool set of electric powers and the epic moniker of Livewire out of it, but only because it was a metahuman ring.
She didn't need to be put in a vat of black gunk (Tar or something) and shocked to force her powers to awaken. She didn't need to be collared and controlled into fighting. Even more ironically she was sent out against Superman himself, whom she had blasted on her blog. Not because he was a bad person, but because she wanted to be controversial. Was it actually irony? She didn't know, literature was not her strong suit but whatever.
While part of her got a bit of a rush, she could do without being someone's lapdog. And while blasting stuff felt satisfying, Kryptonians were made of sturdier stuff. Sure, like all living beings they had nerves and electric impulses so electricity could affect it. But Kryptonian skin was thick and if she got enough juice she could hurt Supes, but he was still stronger, faster and smarter then her. At least she was stopped before she could do too much damage. Not that she would care, but it puts a bigger target on her back.
Though now she was free from her collar, while her blue skin and electric blue hair remained, she was free to do what she wanted. If it was up to her, she'd leave, far away from all the shitty people in her life, wandering, keeping low, left alone, only doing some petty crimes to get by and keep a low profile. But there was someone else.
She was not the only one part of the metahuman trafficking ring. There were many others; Some didn't make it. Others were like her, used as weapons. And one of them…she didn't know why she did it, she was normally not a people person, but the girl was helpless, afraid and confused. Maybe she recognized a bit of herself in it, the part of her she would never show people as she considers it weakness. Unlike her the kid had a future. So she looked out for her. It started with just some curiosity and the means to alleviate boredom outside of being used as an attack dog. But the girl got attached to her. She didn't know if she could call it friendship. Though to be fair she never had friends, only at best a posse of fellow alpha bitches.
But she was eventually saved alongside her new 'friend' by heroes. Of course those goodie two shoes gave her a few opportunities like community service or attending this new kid hero school. Well, it was better then jail. And her girl friend (not girlfriend, the space between the world was important) was excited. So she decided to stick around if only for her sake and to perhaps shave off some time. And it was full of kids her age and it was run by more goodie two shoes heroes so they can't be worse then the staff and people at her old school.
"Can you believe we are going to be part of it, Lee? We are going to be Titans!" her girl pal said. She was shorter then her, with white hair that hung in front of her right eye, her visible eye brown and her skin tanned. Her outfit was a black and grey bodysuit over which she wore a dark green jacket. "We are going to be tutored by the original Titans and there will be others. Oh dear, what if they don't like me? What if…they don't want me?"
"Easy there, Smoke! You're already invited in. It'd be a dick move if they go back on their words, and they're too goody-good for that." Livewire said. Her pal's name was really Andrea Murphy, or Andi, but due to her powers, she called her pal Smoke. She thought about Mist first but there was a supervillain with that name and Vapor sounded dull. "And you're hard not to like. I like you and I'm a bitch."
"You don't need to put yourself down. You're my friend." Smoke replied. "And…I'm glad you here."
"Here because of you." Livewire said. "Only reason actually."
"You're not doing it for yourself? Not anything you want?" Smoke asked.
"I'm not a good person." Livewire said.
"Do you want to be?" Smoke asked.
"I don't want to be an awful person." Livewire admitted. "I'm only here to help you get settled and pay debt to society, nothing more."
Smoke looked a bit sad, but she wasn't sure why. "I'm just glad you're with me, Lee."
"Yeah, yeah…" Livewire tried to not show emotions. But damn puppy dog eyes of Smoke. "Let's just get settled in."
"I think you may do better then you think, Lee. I know you can be better." Smoke said.
"You're the only one." Livewire sighed. "Let's see what kind of people are put in this dump." She looked around at the fellow students whom were gathering.
"Hi!" a student said. He had a blue outfit and glasses and looked dorky.
"Eep!" Smoke did like her namesake and turned into a cloud of smoke and flew behind Livewire.
"Er…something I said?" the student asked.
"Nah, she's shy." Livewire said. "So…what's your deal?"
"I'm Tooby. I turn into tube."
"A tube of what? A tube of glue? A tube of toothpaste?" Livewire asked.
"Just a tube."
"A Boom-Tube? Are you living teleportation energy?" Livewire asked.
"No, just a tube. Can I show it?"
"Yeah, because I don't get it?" Livewire noted.
'Tooby' prepped himself and then…turned into a large round tube.
"I didn't know what I was expecting." Livewire said. "Ok, real impressive, now turn back kid. Er…Kid?" Tooby remained like that. Even Smoke came from behind Livewire to look on in curiosity. "Er…should we call a doctor if he is stuck like that too long?"

Miguel Montez was once an ordinary kid, but then there was a weird device did what it did, and had secrets hidden inside of it. It appeared to be a normal smartphone, but it was more then that. Apparently others have used it before to become heroes, and it had different forms, but now he was stuck with it. He didn't know why as he was an ordinary boy. He wasn't an athlete, he wasn't a gifted student, average at best. But no matter how much he tried to get rid of the weird phone thing, throwing it out the window, into the water, leaving it behind…It always returned to him. He was stuck with it.
But he got a chance now. A chance to study at a prestigious academy and become a hero. They will do normal tutoring for things every kid learns like history, math sect but also how to manage in a world with superpowers or as vigilante. And since he can't get rid of the phone he subjected himself to using it for good. He didn't know if he was the right candidate but…maybe he would get a chance to see his big hero, Superman, someday.
And his Uncle was proud, the older, pudgy man crying emotionally. "I am so proud. I knew things would look up for us eventually. My sister and her husband…your parents would have been as proud as I am!" he gave his nephew a bone-crushing hug.
"Uncle Brant…air!" Miguel noted.
"Sorry. I'm just so happy. No one in our family was able to go to such a great school. You got the chance of a lifetime. That someone as high profile as the Waynes gave you a scholarship." Brant took out a handkerchief and blew his nose.
"Yeah…still can't believe it myself." Miguel said, nervously fiddling with the Hero Dial.
"Make the best of it. You deserve to have a bright future, grab the chance and seize the day." Brant said. "Don't forget, study hard, try to make friends and hope you find yourself a nice boyfriend, perhaps."
"Uncle, that's a bit to early." Miguel said.
"Right…anyhow, this is the stability you need. I am glad we are finally able to get this far." Uncle Brant said. They had his sandwich cart and motorhome to get by, moving around a lot. But thanks to the scholarship his Uncle could put his savings into a sandwich shop he dreamed off, and would give him a better income too. His uncle tried so hard ever since Miguel's mom and dad but…it was difficult, no more. If it wasn't for himself, he'd do this for Uncle. He'd make him and the memory of his parents proud. "You sure you can get to the school by yourself?"
"It's closer then you think." Miguel assured him. "You focus on the shop, its your big moment, while going to school is mine. Love you, uncle." He said as he left.
"Love you too, Migs!" Uncle Brant said.
Miguel walked out of sight of his uncle and everyone. He took his Hero Dial. Images of ancient symbols appeared on the screen before they turned into the letters of the alphabet. Miguel dialed away at the phone; 'H-E-R-O, Hero!' it sounded as it turned into a ball of light, entered his chest and he transformed. Right now he was a biker-themed hero in leather and chains. IN a fiery burst a motorcycle with a metallic horse skull appeared and a flaming compass floated in the air. He himself now also wore a red devil-like mask. "Speed Demon!" he shouted out as he got on the motorcycle and rushed off, leaving a fiery trail that died out quickly. While he was nervous about the hero life, he admitted the transformations were pretty metal.
With his super-fast motorcycle, he arrived on the destination quickly and turned back to normal. Out of sight of everyone of course. He went into his backpack and took out his hero outfit. It was a simple hoodie in yellow and black, like the Hero Dial itself, and a domino mask. But if the Robins from Gotham could pull of a change of clothes and a mask, so could he. He then pulled out a card and went down an alleyway. There were symbols on the card and he looked around. He saw a garbage container which was locked but had the symbols written on it if you looked close enough. He swiped the card past the lock and the container opened, showing a Zeta-tube. He took a sigh and walked through. 'Recognized, S-13 Hero!'
He was now inside of the Academy. Several other students in various colorful outfits were there too. Miguel looked on in awe. His hoodie and mask were very simple compared to what he saw. But too late to turn back now. He would be walking around and studying his surroundings and the fellow students, but wouldn't know where he was going. "Oof, pardon me!" Miguel said as he turned to the boy whom he ran into.
The boy he ran into was not conventional. He had white skin and hair, and elf-like pointy ears. He had red eyes and yellow sclera, and a purple outfit. But he was kind of handsome. "Oh er…it's ok."
"Hey, you hurt into my brother." A girl with the same white skin and hair, pointy hears and purple outfit, said to Miguel. If she hadn't said it, Miguel would have been able to guess they were siblings. "I'm gonna have to eat your face!" she said as her mouth stretched to wide length and she grew a mouth full of shark teeth. Miguel squealed and jumped back. Before the girl bust out in laughter. "Oh my gosh, you should have seen your face!"
"Jayna, don't scare him like that." The boy said to his sister. "I'm sorry about her, she just likes to mess with people." He apologized. "Er, I'm Zan. But you can call me Downpour. I can turn into any form of water." Downpour said as he turned his arm into water briefly. "And this is my sister Jayna."
"Call me Shifter. Turn into any animal." She said as she briefly turned into snake and back. "I wasn't going to eat you. Though I wonder what human would taste like." She said as she leaned forward, lulling her tongue out as if to lick Miguel.
"Jayna!"
"Sorry, just kidding." Shifter said. "Anyhow, together we are the Wonder Twins!" she said.
"I didn't agree to that, that is so corny!" Downpour noted.
"Sorry, we're stuck with the name now. Because I said so!" Jayna said as she stuck out her tongue. "What's your name?"
"Er…Hero, just Hero." Miguel said.
"That's boring." Jayna said.
"I can actually turn into multiple heroes with a magic phone. Er…each with their own powers and name, I'm just in neutral mode, so Hero seemed fine." Miguel said.
"A fellow shapeshifter. Well, nice to get acquainted to you." Downpour said as he held out his hand.
"Fish to meet you!" Miguel said as he held out his hand. Two seconds later he realized what he said and facepalmed. "Sorry, I wumbled my jords…jumbled my words. Damngoddit. I mean…"
"Oh he's precious!" Shifter laughed. She then whispered to her brother. "And totally your type."
"Jayna!" Downpour whispered.
"Zan!" Shifter shot back, smiling.
"Don't mind her, she has one of her mischievous moods. It's perfectly ok to be nervous on the first time." Downpour said. Shifter laughed. "First time in a new school!" Downpour quickly added as he blushed. "I think you're fine…do fine!"
"Yeah, I hope so. I mean, I know so." Miguel now tried way too hard to look confident.
"You are both disasters." Shifter said.
"Shut up, Jayna!" Downpour sighed.
"Your sister's weird." Miguel said.
"I know." Downpour sighed.
"You love me!" Shifter teased her brother.
"I do, for some reason." Downpour said.

Brion Markov sighed as he took in his surroundings. It was no palace but it'll have to do. He knew a life in the lap of luxury was gone. He wasn't a spoiled prince whom hadn't everything handed on a silver platter and had been learned responsibility, he was still a prince whom had it easy up until now. Until the Bedlam Metahuman ring, ran by his own Uncle, Frederick Delamb.
Due to the tensions rising with metahumans in Markovia, his own brother was forced to banish him from his home. He didn't blame his brother, as reigning monarch he was under a lot of pressure from the people. Besides, it wasn't all bad. The heroes whom saved him from the metahuman ring gave him a home, and a chance at this school. He now had the power to control Earth. And best of all, he made friends. He was a bit homesick but it could be a lot worse.
"Are you ok, Brion?" a gentle feminine voice asked. It was that of Halo, a girl whom like him was a product of the Metahuman ring. She wore a colorful outfit with a hood. She also had tanned skin and brown eyes.
"I'm fine. Just, taking everything in." Brion noted.
"Forager is excited. Forager is going to be part of a new Hive." His other companion was not from the metahuman ring, in fact he was an alien insectoid from New Genesis. But in a weird but not unwelcome twist, Brion had found himself bonding with the lost little alien. The fact they were both banished from their home and needed a place to go really gave them a connection.
"Who is Forager?" a voice asked. The voice came from a girl in a purple outfit is a hood. She had long blonde hair and a domino mask.
"Forager is Forager." The alien insectoid replied.
"I get Forager would be Forager, but where is this Forager?" the girl asked.
"Forager is here." Forager noted.
"Where here?" the girl asked.
"Spoiler, I think he is referring to himself." Another girl said as she stood by the blonde girl, now known as 'Spoiler'. "Sorry about that, the name's Bluebird." She had punkish outfit and blue hair and domino mask. "We're with the Batman Family, but we are also studying here."
"I'm Spoiler." The girl in purple said. "Sorry I didn't understand what you are talking about, little guy." She turned to Forager.
"Forager is not mad with new friend Spoiler. Forager forgives Spoiler." Forager said.
"Why are you called Spoiler?" Halo asked curiously.
"Because I'm a nightmare at the movie theater, spoiling all the endings." Spoiler said before she let out a fake evil laugh. "Nah, just kidding, I only spoil evil plans by evil people."
"I owe a lot to the Batman family. Nightwing led the team that saved me and Halo." Brion said. "The name is Geo-Force." He greeted. "And she is my friend, Halo."
"Welcome to the Academy, fist bump!" Bluebird raised her fist. They looked at her oddly. "Fist bump? Greeting? Gently tap your fist against mine?"
"Which one?" Forager asked as he studied all four hands.
"Just pick one." Bluebird noted.
Forager bumped his upper left fist gently against Bluebird. "Forager did 'fist bump'!" he said excitedly.
"I did too." Halo said after bumping Bluebird's fist. "Spoiler, will you do the fist bump with me too?"
"Heck yeah!" Spoiler said as she reached out her hands for a fist bump.
"They are…excitable." Geo-Force noted.
"I get that." Bluebird said. "Now, Batgirl, would you stop being shy and introduce yourself to the newbies?"
Another girl, this one in a fully body black batgirl outfit that hides any feature slowly stepped out of the shadow. The only color on her were the yellow outlines of the bat symbol on her chest and her utility belt. "She doesn't say much but fights like the dickens." Bluebird noted.
"Nice meeting you friend, Batgirl. Forager requests the fist bump as a sign of Forager and Batgirl's new friendship." Forager held out a fist to bump. Batgirl made a small fist and bumped it too. This made Forager smile.
"Cute." Batgirl noted.
"Aw, Batgirl makes Forager blush." Forager put all four of his hands on his cheek.
"I think you silly beans are going to fit right in." Bluebird chuckled.
"Forager does? Did Forager find his new Hive?" Forager asked.
"I guess so if by Hive you mean 'friend group?'" Spoiler noted.
"Forager found his hive. Forager is home!"
"Home…" Batgirl said. She remembered when she first could call a place home. She could empathize with the alien insectoid.

The many students had gathered. But now it was time for the staff to appear and start speaking. There they were, the five founding members of the Teen Titans. Richard Grayson/Nightwing (formerly the first Robin), Koriand'r/Starfire, Rachel Roth/Raven, Garfield Logan/Changeling (formerly Beast Boy), and Victor Stone/Cyborg.
"Good morning, young heroes and welcome to the Titans Academy." Nightwing greeted over the microphone. "The place where all of you learn to be heroes. For us, the Teen Titans it started nearly a decade ago, with the Gordanian invasion of Jump City, where I met my future teammates and fiancée." Nightwing turned to Starfire, whom gave a warm smile. "We decided we made a good team and hence became the Teen Titans. Though at first, it was hard."
"Yeah, admittingly at times things went to pot. We got better but kind of a bumpy road." Changeling noted.
"What Changeling tries to say that…it wasn't easy. We didn't have guidance, some of us had broken away form our adult partners, or had nowhere else to go and we had to figure out a lot of our own. But through all hardships we found our place, we found our pace, and we made it work."
"But now, we want to give the younger heroes of the world and beyond the world a chance." Raven added. "Support and lessons we couldn't get at the time. So that's where the concept of Titans Academy began."
"We are guiding the heroes, the warriors of tomorrow. So that the world is never unprotected, so all can be bestowed with a purpose, and everyone can find their own strength." Starfire said.
"And with that, we have reached out to all of you. Either you were already heroes but could always do with some extra help." Nightwing looked at the Bat-Clan members. "Outsiders seeking a home and goal." He looked at Brion, Halo and Forager. "Or had lives taken away, or had an awakening. You now exploring what future to take." He looked at Livewire and Smoke; "You will learn to fight, to be strong, to explore your powers and skills. But you will also get a proper education as the person behind the mask also deserves to make their own life, and without that person the mask is nothing."
"We'll not be the only ones. Other Titans will act as teachers, and some other heroes have agreed to come by and impart wisdom and teachings upon you." Cyborg said. "Because while the Titans Academy is run by the Titans, the hero community as a whole is willing to contribute."
"Whatever or whomever you choose to be start here. And even if you graduate the Titans Academy, know you will always be known as a Teen Titan. Or just Titan when you grow up." Nightwing said.
"Yeah, kind of weird Dawson casting-type cringe if you are in your twenties and call yourself Teen." Changeling joked. To his delight, a few of the students did laugh at that.
"Your first classes start soon but we got some time left. Does anyone have any questions?" Nightwing said.
"Is Superman one of the heroes whom may make a guest appearance?" Miguel asked, as his hand has shot upwards so fast it would make the Flash family blush.
"I can confirm for certain he will." Nightwing said. Miguel pumped his fist and said 'yes!' before composing himself.
Shifter raised her hand. "Oh, question for Cyborg!"
"All right, ask away little lady!" Cyborg said.
"When you lost your fleshy parts and became a Cyborg, did they let you keep the pieces?" Shifter asked with a creepy smile.
"Forget she said anything!" Downpour said in a panic as she put her hand on his sister's mouth.
"That was weird…" Cyborg noted.
"I don't have a question for myself…" Livewire said. "But I think this one's broken as he…" Livewire pointed at Tooby's 'tube form'. But Tooby reverted to human with a pop. "Never mind."
"Cyborg, can you say the thing?" Spoiler asked raising her hand.
Cyborg chuckled and shook his head. He then shouted. "Booyah!" into the mic and the kids cheered.
"Starfire!" Spoiler turned to the alien princess instead. "I know your English is better now, but…I liked the way you talked in the old days. Can you…"
"While my English has improved due to being on Earth for years…occasionally I still do the relapse, new friend Spoiler." Starfire said, playing along with a huge smile on her face.
"Anyone else want us to quote something instead of asking meaningful things about the upcoming classes?" Raven asked.
"Can you say the waffle thing?" Tooby asked.
"Dang, I can't believe people found out about it. You shouldn't have told anyone, Changeling. Remind me why I love you again?" Raven sighed.
"I would but there would be kids watching." Changeling said with a wide grin. Raven gave him a playful punch in the arm.
She sighed. "Note that this is the only time you'll hear me say this, after this I'm going strict teacher on you kids. Evil beware…we have waffles." Raven droned. Everyone cheered. "Now I'm never going to keep discipline in class." She said.
"Er, they'll love you." Changeling said. "Besides, they're fans of us, they'll give us respect."
"Hi big brother, I'm here!" Miss Martian waved from the crowd.
"See you, M'gann! Welcome to the Academy." Changeling said back.
"Grass stain, I know it's your little sis but don't act too familiar with your students." Cyborg said.
"Hi Cyborg, thanks for the new prosthetics." A new speedster student, a girl called Bolt said, showing off her cybernetic legs, which were slimmed modified versions of Cyborgs' with yellow circuits instead of blue.
"You're welcome." Cyborg shouted back. The others raised an eyebrow at him. "That's totally different.
"Now, that's all the time we have for questions, any further questions will have to wait until class. But the first class is going to be a training simulation. While we looked at your profile, we are going to look at each of you in action to determine where your strengths lie and which points need improvement so you can all get an education tailored to you. Everybody ready up in the training room at the end of the hall and…Titans, Go!" Nightwing said.
The students cheered and made their way to the training room. They all would eagerly await what's in store for the future, the things they'll learn, the obstacles they overcome, the purpose they'd find in life. It would be all here at Titans Academy.
NOTES
Here is my next snippet series, waiting forever to get it off the ground. And here it is. Note that it combines aspects of the TItans and Young Justice cartoons, with some Outsiders influences but it is meant as a DC reboot in general. It just happend the younger heroes are my fav.
I wanted to start out with the main five Titans but couldn't get it written, so instead I focused for this first chapter on the new students and the main five at the end. But try to focus on them too more in future chapters. But the student interactions, while we not see all of them on screen are those whom I found made for great interactions.
A few important notes:
Instead of the Dick Grayson and Wally West versions of Robin and Kid Flash, it is their successors Tim Drake and Bart Allen being part of the group of young ones saving Superboy from Cadmus like in Young Justice. M'gann is now the younger sibling (adoptive but still) for Beast Boy. Conner Kent started off better with Superman then in the show. And Ravager is a good stand in for Artemis (whom is part of the Titans due to me shipping her with Wally West) as she also has a villain heritage and has had a relationship with a Kid Flash (Bart Allen).
Livewire and the female Mist in Young Justice are more heroic, just used as metahuman tools. I like the bond the two shared despite their short appearances. I renamed Mist into Smoke since the Mists from the comics are villainous even more so since the female Mist is a violent rapist. So renamed her Smoke. And in the comics Livewire at one point tried to go straight so it works here.
Tooby is from the Titans Academy comics and he just turns into a tube. I thought it would be good for a quick joke XD
I also lvoe the outsiders, so Geo-Force, Halo and Forager I included. There are other Outsider members like Black Lightning and Katana whom will debut as guest appearances or teachers.
Miguel Montez is the wielder of the Hero Dial. And the Wonder Twins appear here, but I combined aspects of their expies from the DCAu Downpour and Shifter, by giving them their look and individual codenames. and I gave Shifter Nimona energy since I loved that movie and its my new fav.
Cassie Cain is my fav character ever and while I didn't get to do much with her yet she will get a focus chapter down the line.
Anyhow, hope this is a good start and you enjoy it enough so that I can write more in the future
