Seventh prompt for Seiusa Week 2023, Free
This one takes place during Rebirth. Act 2: It Started as an Ordinary Day. Toward the beginning of the act, Usagi is at school and thinks she sees someone in red, she rubs her eyes and the person is gone. This scene is a more detailed reaction featuring Seiya.
Seiya clenches his fist tightly. He is tired of staying in the shadows so close to Usagi but not able to speak to her. He understands it is for her protection but it infuriates him to be so close but still unable to contact her. He would have been better off remaining on Kinmoku at this rate. This was pure torture.
He wanted to get a better glimpse of her but it seems he was too close and out in the open. The way she let go of Mamoru's arm and stared in his direction, he had to quickly vanish. The look of disbelief he saw flash across her face for a moment before he turned away… he shakes his head. Anyone would look at the Three Lights like that since they just vanished into thin air the previous year.
From what he has observed the past couple of days, she seems okay. She is surrounded by her friends and her boyfriend. A small part of him had hoped something would have happened between the two of them to give him a chance but then what? Once this mission is over, it is clear they will return to Kinmoku. He can't abandon his home or his duties as a senshi. He is not that kind of person.
He shakes his head slightly. Even if he did meet her sooner, how would that work? She has her own life here and he can't ask her to just give it up. Besides she is also a Princess, a future ruler of this galaxy. He doesn't want to face facts that he doesn't have a role here as much as he would like to have one.
Maybe it was selfish to think anything would change.
He closes his eyes for a moment to refocus on why he returned to Earth with Taiki and Yaten. Sailor Moon and the other senshi are in grave danger from an enemy that is strong enough to kill them all. That is what he must focus all of his attention on. Making sure he does everything in his power to prevent that from happening. The reason they have been watching the senshi for days.
He opens his eyes to see Taiki glaring at him for his actions.
