"Liar."
BANG!
CLINK!
THUD!
The loud clink of the pistol dropping echoed throughout Terminal Dogma soon followed by the sound of a body dropping down.
Breathing heavily, Ritsuko lowered her revolver and turned to face the blue-haired standing in front of the freshly made corpse.
Rei's eyes were widened only by a small fraction, but Ritsuko saw it. She saw the fear in her eyes. She knew her past interactions with the doctor were bad, and for once, she feared death.
"Rei…"
….
"Help me stop this…"
For the first time, Ritsuko asked a simple request of Rei. Not a command, or an order, or a direction. It was just a request. No, it's more like a plea, a cry for help. Standing before her was the woman she knew despised her, but now she was in a helpless position.
Tears formed and ran down Ritsuko's exhausted face. Dropping her revolver, she soon fell to her knees in suit. The soft and subtle sobs of the faux blonde reverberated throughout the chamber.
Rei felt the slightest form of pity for her.
"Dr Akagi… Please… Stand up…"
While she knew Rei wasn't one to hold such anger and pettiness, Ritsuko was shocked at her graciousness and mercy. Choking on escaping and pained sobs, reluctantly she rose to meet eye-to-eye with the girl.
"They are coming Dr Akagi. You should tell them what happened before they come to kill us."
Taking a moment to process her reasoning, Ritsuko nodded, slowly then frantically.
"R-Right!"
The small tablet she was using as a detonator was switched over to a simple PDA where she typed as fast as she could, sending a message to the bridge crew. There was a moment's delay between Ritsuko's sent message and a response back from her protege. There was no hesitation to reply and to give out a simple order.
"Inform JSSDF of Commander Ikari's death. Tell them we will blow up NERV if they do not cease their attacks."
A pause before a response.
"Understood."
Ritsuko paced back and forth, nearly forgetting about Rei for a moment. A small sneeze came from Rei, where Ritsuko's attention turned back to. She stared at her nude figure and quickly realized that she should've seen it sooner if she wasn't sobbing.
Taking off her lab coat, she wrapped it around Rei, giving her some sort of warmth in the oddly breezy antechamber. The lab coat was rough and coarse against Rei's skin, not that she cared about the texture. Slowly, she grasped the edges and pulled it closer, wrapping herself more in the sterile piece of cloth.
"Thank you…"

Well this fic was in the works for a while, and by that I mean I started writing it and forgot and just picked it up again just to write.
