This is deep space. It's long way from Deep Space Nine. It's even farther away from Deep Dish Nine...where the Swinetrek most likely docks...
The planet Earth is visible from here. It's certainly not Htrae... But then, this isn't Bizzaro World, either. From here, the planet looks sizeable... This is an optical illusion, of course; everything is way too far away from everything, in outer space.
Through space, a pod travels. Factories once made many of these, back on a late planet called Krypton. One such pod once bore Kal-El to Earth, promptly after Krypton's apocalypse.
This is a gestation pod. Inside, a youth sleeps. He's been sleeping for his entire life. In fact, he hasn't been born yet. This pod's AI will decide when that happens. At present, though, the pod's AI can sense, very well, that this is no place for a kryptonian.
Inside the pod, harlequin-green lights glow. These lights come from shards of harlequin kryptonite. Harlequin kryptonite is like green kryptonite, only it has different effects on different kryptonians. It's also been known to have effects on a few non-kryptonians. Rumor has it, in fact, that some of this stuff was in the vat of chemicals that once turned a random nobody of Gotham into the villain Joker.
This gestating kryptonian youth, it seems, will be a harlequin kryptonite mutate, once his egg hatches. Earth will soon learn if they're ready for such an addition to the population.
Up from deep space, something approaches. It's made of dwarfstar. It moves, and looks like, a remora...
Like a magnet, it sticks to the pod's hull. The pod's AI doesn't suspect a thing. Like a remora to a shark, the dwarfstar meteor clings to the hull, and freeloads its way to Earth. Unclear, as to why it'd even want to go to Earth... But then, it's probably just along for the freeloading...as an actual remora would be, while clasped to a shark's belly.
Towards Earth, the pod keeps a steady course; or rather, the AI does for it. The AI, it seems, is the pod's helmsman/quartermaster.
