Ken was back in the apartment before Davis returned from class. He was busy studying at the kitchen table when Davis walked in.
"In here," Ken called to him.
Davis dropped his backpack, kicked off his shoes and, in the doorway to the kitchen, leaned against the wall, arms folded.
Ken looked up from his textbook and noticed the pecular look on Davis' face.
"What's going on?" Ken asked.
Davis gave a gentle snort of disbelief.
"Yolei heard us."
"What do you mean?" Ken asked, brows furrowed.
"Last weekend? On the couch? Her and Kari came over and they heard, well, they didn't hear me, they heard you."
Ken's face quickly reddened to a vivid shade of horror. "Oh my God." He plunked his elbows on the table, face buried in his hands.
Davis took a seat in the other chair. "It's okay," he chuckled gently, putting a hand on Ken's slumped shoulder. "She was trying to get details out of me but I didn't say anything."
"I'm glad you find this amusing," Ken groaned through his fingers.
"It's torture for her not knowing who you're dating. She was so mad, it was funny," Davis chuckled sadistically.
Ken raised his face from his hands. "Maybe we should just tell them. I was never planning on not telling them, anyway."
Davis shrugged and dragged his chair closer to Ken's. "If you want to tell them, we can," he smiled reassuringly.
He grabbed onto Ken's hand and gave it a squeeze. "It'll be okay. They're our best friends."
Ken raised his head to look at Davis, a small sigh passing through his nose before he smiled gently. "I know."

Saturday arrived, and with it their friends to the apartment, in response to the "important meeting" text message invitation they had received earlier in the week.
On the couch sat Cody, Yolei, Kari, with TK perched on the arm beside her. Davis and Ken stood in the center of the living room.
Ken couldn't stop fidgeting. He was nervously plucking at the hem of his shirt as his friends looked on, confused as to why they had been called on so formally.
After clearing his throat gently, Ken spoke.
"Thank you for coming. I... well, we... wanted you all here... there's something I... we wanted to say... "
Davis snickered lightly, watching him fumble.
Kari piped up softly and encouragingly. "Go ahead, Ken. What is it?"
"It's... well, this might be... we didn't want to not tell you..."
Davis, through a combination of wanting to end Ken's awkward, stumbling diatribe and to shout his love for him from the rooftops, snatched Ken's hand in his.
"Ken and I are dating!" he said cheerfully, his grin ear to ear.
There was a long silence, where nothing but breathing was heard from their friends.
"Dating who?" TK asked happily, obliviously.
Davis held up their joined hands. "Each other?"
Kari was the first to react, happily clasping her hands together to her heart.
Cody looked like there was a litany of questions running through his head all at once.
"Really?" TK asked. "But... really?" He stumbled, befuddled.
Ken smiled softly, squeezing Davis' hand tightly. "We are."
"I know it's unexpected, but long story short, we found out we had feelings for each other for a while," Davis explained.
There was another long, quiet stretch of information processing.
"Well, I'm happy for you! Congratulations!" Kari exclaimed sweetly. Ken smiled at her, relieved.
"If you're happy, that's all that matters," Cody said succinctly.
TK scratched at his head. "Unexpected for sure, but if you're happy, then so are we."
Yolei, who had been silent thus far, finally piped up.
"Wait."
All eyes turned to her. Her head was bowed, fingers clawing at the fabric of her pants.
"So what we heard that night... those... noises... that was the two of you?!" She let out a dramatic wail.
Everyone laughed as she put on a show of fake, traumatized tears.
"Sorry, but yeah," Davis snickered as Ken blushed beside him, rubbing his temple guiltily.
"I mean, I'm happy for you guys but really? My God. I can't unhear that," she groaned, and more laughter commenced.
The group soon stood to return to their respective dorms, giving hugs and pats on the back as they went.
As Kari hugged Ken, she stood on her tiptoes, whispering in Ken's ear, "It's about time," and with a sly smile she joined the rest of the group outside.
Once alone, Davis flopped onto the couch, arms sprawled across the back of it. Ken sat against him and Davis wrapped an arm around his shoulder.
"That wasn't so bad," Davis smiled.
Ken sighed in happy relief. "It wasn't."
Davis leaned in close, whispering seductively in Ken's ear. "Now we can make out all over campus."
Ken snickered, shaking his head.
"But seriously," Davis began as Ken turned around to face him, "I love you. It took a while, but I'm glad we're here."
Ken smiled gently before joining their lips in a soft kiss. "It was worth the wait."
