Star's POV:
(Flash):
...A blurred, enclosed room...
(Flash):
...A familiar young frame sitting down, rocking back and forth while hugging their knees...
(Flash):
...A freakish scream rings in an echo, making the figure tense...
(Flash)
I throw my covers off with a start breathing heavily clutching my chest. W-What on earth?! What did I just see now?
My legs tremble as I stumble to flick on the light switch pouring myself a glass of water. Was that a memory? What happened to me? My hands shake as my eyes widen. Oh shoot. "That's what I get for not paying attention.
On the table lays a puddle as the cup overflows. I quickly grab napkins to clean it up, throwing it in the wastebasket and climb back in bed pulling the covers to my chest. Why am I only getting bits and pieces? And… why am I shaking?
My body curls up into a ball as I gulp. What on Astral world is going on with me? Is this how he feels as well?
The next morning:
Estrella's POV:
"Your Majesty but I really want to see my father."
"Do you honestly want to see the guy who tortured you?"
"No matter how you look at it, he's my father."
"But he-"
"We are related by blood."
He sighs rubbing his temples. "Estrella, are you sure you want to see him?"
"Yes. No matter how he treated me, he's still my father."
"But-"
"He didn't treat you properly." A feminine voice chimes in as I curtsy. "Why would you go see that person?"
"My Queen," She sits on her throne with the king. "Although that is true, it's my duty as a daughter to visit him at least once." After all, he's the only family I have left.
They shake their heads with soft sighs. "Alright, if that is your wish, we won't stop you," My eyes light up as he said that. "But, if he tries something," The king claps his hands twice as a man with brown eyes enters. "Walter,"
He kneels. "Yes, Your Majesty?"
"Accompany Duchess Estrella to the dungeon." Duchess?! Did I hear him correctly?
My eyes widen as I kneel. "Your Majesty, I'm not worthy of such a title. I-"
"Nonsense," The queen descends her throne with a smile as she helps me up. "We have given a lot of thought into this and with Duke Thesion stripped of his title, what better way to pronounce you, his only daughter, as Duchess?"
"Y-Yes, but-"
"Don't be so modest all the time, Estrella," She places her hand on my shoulder. "You deserve such a title and with everything you have been through, I'm certain that you will be better than your father." Can I really be a good duchess?
My lips curve upwards as I curtsy. "Thank you, Your Majesties."
At the dungeon:
"Your Grace," He said ask as we round the corner. "Pardon me for being rude but Duke… I mean, Thesion shouldn't have treated you that way." That's right. The king stripped him of his title so now, he's no longer a duke.
"Don't worry about it," I wave an arm. "Even though I'm his child, I don't agree with his actions so you don't have to worry about that."
He chuckles as he opens a cell door. "Their Majesties were right. You are different from your father."
(Creek)
"Your Grace, this way if you please," I follow him to the very back corner where a man with messy dark brown hair greets me with an eye roll.
"Oh, it's you." His voice is horse from disuse as he scoffs.
"Walter, may you stand and guard outside, please?"
He nods. "As you wish, Your Grace."
The door shuts as silence envelopes us. Father… His hair, which is normally well kept, is messy. His clothes, which is normally iron without a single wrinkle on them, are now wrinkled with dirty stains on them. Is this the same man that I looked up to when I was a kid?
"What are you staring at?" I snap from my daze as he snarls. "Come to see how the mighty has fallen?"
"Father,"
He chuckles. "You're still using that term?" Huh?
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Some daughter you are. You managed to imprisoned your father. Have you no shame?"
He's kidding, right? "You say that I have no shame? Have you thought about your actions?" My arm trembles as I clench my fist. "Have you ever stopped and realize the one you're beating is your only daughter?"
His eyes narrow. "You killed your mother. If it wasn't for you, she wouldn't have died!"
(Flash):
"Run!"
(Stab)
"Mother!"
(Flash)
That's right… if it wasn't for me… she wouldn't have…
"Even if that's the case, that doesn't excuse you to abuse her like that." A feminine voice rings out as the door creek open revealing a pair of hazel eyes with a white blouse with a pink pencil skirt. What is she doing here?
"I second that," A guy with dark green eyes and ash blond hair wearing a green shirt with black ripped jeans comes him with a smile. "That doesn't excuse you from harming your daughter."
"Derek, Maria," I blink as they smile. "What on earth are you two doing here?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Her smile turns to a deadly grin as she looks at my father. "I want to see how far the mighty has fallen." Gee… she can be scary when she wants to.
"And I just came for the fun. I don't really care about these things." He shrugs with a yawn as my friend elbows him.
"Seriously?"
"What?"
"Didn't we go over this?" Her hands are on her hips as she stares at him expectantly.
"Yea, but I'm entitled to my opinions as well, aren't I?"
A sigh comes from her as she shakes her head and turns to me. "You have to excuse him. He's still furious about-"
"And I have a good reason to!" His fists clenches as a murderous look shines in his eyes. "What kind of a father are you? You had the audacity to beat your daughter. Your own flesh and blood! Why you are nothing but a-Mph!"
A hand clamps over his mouth with a giggle. "I'm so sorry for his behavior." He struggles and finally gets free from her grip.
"And don't start with me, Maria." He turns to her with a stern look as she blinks. What?
"Derek?" His gaze softens as he clutches his head then turns to me.
"Estrella, even though he's your father and I understand that you love him and all, but how could you let it escalate to this point?"
"I um-"
"Not only that, it's been going on for years! Why are you only saying this now? Why didn't you try to escape? He doesn't love you so why do you have to harm yourself because of him of all people?" He shouts breathing heavily as he meets my friend's gaze. Harm… myself…?
I glance back and forth between the two of my friends unblinking staring at each other. Is something going on between them?
"Ahem," I clear my throat and turn back to my father. "Considering how you hadn't changed like I hope you would, this is going to be my first and final time I will visit you." I gulp closing my eyes.
He's right. Why would I harm my own sanity for a guy, for a father that doesn't even love me?
(Creek)
A chuckle escapes him as I can feel eyes pierce the back of my head. "I knew it. You are ungrateful, you know that? I raised you and this is how you repay me?"
I… I turn my head to meet his gaze but she drapes her arm over my shoulder. "Don't you dare look back." Her voice barely a whisper. "Once you made a decision to leave him, don't you dare turn your head." Is she…
(Flash):
"When I found out that he was in an affair with my friend, I felt as if my world was breaking. It shattered right in front of my eyes and I was left helpless to stop it. My heart disintegrated to dust as the two of them walk away hand in hand."
(Flash)
She's… I wonder is she… "And you dare turn your back to me you ungrateful brat?! You should have never been-"
(Slap)
My eyes widen as the resonating slap across the cheeks ring throughout my ears. Eh? Who on earth…!
"Don't you dare say those words to her, you monster." Her hand trembles as a deadly glare causes me to shiver. A hand pushes me back as he stands protectively in front of me.
"Walter,"
He nods with a bow. "Yes, Lord Derek."
"Who are you to speak to me?" My father sneers with a scoff. "You're just a measly daughter of a prime minister."
(Slap)
A loud slap emanates as we freeze. "So what?" Her voice is devoid of any emotion with a glare. "Is my rank a problem, Duke… opps," A giggle escape her lips. "Whoops, I forgot that you're just a commoner now, aren't I right… Thesion?" Oooooo… he isn't going to like that.
His face grows bright red with his fists clench. "You bitch!"
The guy standing in front of me gives off a dangerous aura as he hoists him up by his shirt collar through the cell. "Call her that once more and I swear, I will obliterate you."
Wow… He grips her hands interlacing them together. "Let's go."
Outside the dungeon:
Maria's POV:
"Ow!" I struggle to get my hand free as he drags me to my room. "Derek, you're hurting me."
What is wrong with him today? "Lady Maria, Lord Derek, Duchess Estrella," The maids greet us as the two of them open the doors.
"You two are dismissed."
"Yes, Lord Derek,"
(Slam)
The door slams with a shut as he lets go of my wrist. Ow! A red mark appears as I wince rubbing it gently. "What is with you today?"
"I agree," My friend nods as she touch the red spot. "Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today or something? You're not usually rough."
He glares at me as I frown. Did I do or say something I wasn't supposed to? "What's with that look?"
"Why did you kiss him?" He asks lowly not meeting my eyes. Who?
"What are you talking about…?"
"Astral." He dark green eyes meet mine as he approaches me. What is he planning? "Why did you kiss him?"
"I…" My face heats up as that memory flies into my head once more. Why is it so hot?
"You're blushing."
I cup my face avoiding his eyes. "I-I'm not-"
"You like him, don't you?"
My eyes widen. "W-What? No. Don't go around spreading rumors about something untrue. He's my friend."
"Then why is your face red?" My face is red?
"You like him." His fist clenches as I back away. "When will you realize it? You liked him for years now!"
"Stop it!" I cover my ears breathing deeply. "Listen closely, I do not like him that way. He and I are just friends."
That's right… I can't develop feelings for him. There has to be a boundary between us. My eyes meet my friend's. "Besides, he's married. Even if I like him, I… can't ruin his marriage." Besides, he doesn't like me that way. From his gaze, I can tell he only sees me as a friend.
"Estrella, may you go outside?"
She nods and the door closes with a click. "Um… why did you…?"
My breath hitch as he pins my arms to the wall pushing his body against mine staring at me intensely. W-What is he doing? "Let go of me."
His hand grip my wrists even tighter causing me to wince. Ow! Why is he so rough today? Is he mad at me for kissing him? But if that's the case, why?
My friend leans closer as his gaze softens into a look that I have never seen from him before. Huh… does he have a fever? What's with that look? "Derek, what are you-Mph!"
His lips crash onto mine as my heart stops for a moment. Eh?! My eyes nearly pop out of their sockets as they trail down to his lips. W-What on Astral world is going on?! He's… kissing… me…?
I… My body begins to tremble as he adjusts his grip pulling me closer by the waist parting my mouth. Derek, my friend, is kissing me. Why is he doing this? Friends shouldn't kiss! Was this a spur of the moment thing or… I struggle against his arms as he deepens the lip lock between us. No… this shouldn't be happening. He's my friend! But his lips…
My eyes start to flutter shut as my senses go numb. This… why does it feel so… so… different than all of the kisses that I'd experienced? It's… so warm with a hint of possessiveness but caring overall. What is this… feeling?
He breaks the kiss with the both of us panting softly because a lack of air. My eyes meet his as he gulps. "I love you."
He… he what?! "D-Derek… I-"
"Don't say anything." His breath hits my lips as my heart beats faster. "I know that you don't like me that way but, I already lost you once. I don't want to lose you again."
He must be talking about… "Derek, I…" I bite the inside of my cheek. How should I go about this?
"I just want you to open your eyes, Maria." His arm pulls me closer as my hands land on his chest. "Even if you like him, he's married. His wife is our friend and is carrying his child." True… and he doesn't view me that way.
"And Anwir, he doesn't-"
"I don't want to hear that name."
He nods as I push him away gently. How should I do this? Wait, I see him as a friend right? My legs glide over to my bed sitting on the edge as he sits next to me.
"Derek…" I guess I have to do it this way. "I… don't-"
A finger connects with my lips. "I'm sorry about-"
"Don't worry about it." I wave a hand as we stare at each other.
"Look, I know your feelings towards me but now's not a good time for me." I clutch my head with a sigh. "I'm sorry but with everything going on with Anwir, I…" I'm just not ready for another relationship yet. What if it turns out the same as before?
A hand lays on my shoulder as I meet his gaze. "No need to worry. I know that you're not ready for a relationship yet and that's understandable considering you know…"
A smile graces his lips as my eyes widen. His eyes… "I'll wait until the time comes when you can open your heart again."
His arms embrace me softly as I blink. Open… my… heart…
(Flash):
His hand touches mine. "By opening your heart again." My eyes widen. "Yesterday, you did just that. You made your feelings known to the people around you. Tell me, how did it feel when you confronted him?"
(Flash)
According to him, I succeeded in opening my heart that night. Can I… really do it again? My arms slowly wrap around his neck. "Thanks, Derek."
"No need to thank me, Maria."
Astrana's POV:
"Well," I blink as I stare at the sign on his door. "This is new."
"Why is there a do not disturb sign on this doorknob?" My green eyed friend ask as we stop in front of my brother's room.
"That certainly wasn't there last night." My hazel eyed friend approaches us with a confused look.
"Should we take it off?"
"It's best not to."
"But why?"
"Perhaps it's there for a reason?"
"What reason?"
"Auntie Astrana!" A body slams into my legs as my lips curve upwards. "Where's Mommy and Daddy?"
My hands pick her up poking her cheek. "They're still asleep."
She tilts her head to the side. "Why? It's almost 12."
"Say, didn't he have a meeting in the morning? What is he doing still sleeping?" Oh yeah… that's right…
"It's 12?!" I jump at my brother's voice inside the room.
A sigh escapes. "Yup."
"Why didn't you wake me up sooner?" Footsteps trample across the floor as my friends push against the door to listen.
"I'm not going to let my husband work on a 4 hour sleep schedule." She said in a stern tone as the sound of the closet door opens.
A 4 hour sleep schedule? How late did they sleep? "Didn't I tell you last night that I can function? Besides, it's probably not the first time that I'd stay up late."
"Yes, but regardless, that meeting can wait. Besides, we have another mandatory event to attend to this afternoon."
They do? I look at my friends who nods. "Remember the ball?" Oh.
My brother sighs as the sound of the closet door creeks shut. "But still-"
"And yesterday was our wedding night. You weren't going to leave me all alone on the bed this morning because of a meeting, were you, my beloved husband?"
We glance at each other then glance back at the door awaiting his response. Did they…
"I would if that meeting was important enough." He responds after a moment. Seriously?!
My friends all facepalm as I shake my head. "Maria, you were right."
"He's a block of wood."
"Definitely."
"How is Dada a block of wood?" The girl in my arms ask as her eyes shine in curiosity.
I stifle a giggle. I bet a million bucks that she's thinking of a real block of wood. "Not literally. Metaphorically speaking because he doesn't know what a girl wants."
"Huh?"
"Your father doesn't know what to say to make your mother happy." He explains slowly as she nods.
"So Daddy has trouble with words?" I guess that's one way of interpreting it.
"That's right," He grins ruffling her hair. "Your daddy has trouble with words."
We stifle laugh with the back of our hands. Hahahahaha! "Good one, Zach."
Astral's POV:
At the table: (Breakfast or shall I say lunch?)
"Hey, can you pass me the ketchup?"
"You have arms, right? Go get it for yourself." She turns her head and crossing her arms. Is she still mad about what I said?
A sigh escapes my lips as I reach over and grab the bottle. "Mommy," My daughter said as she sits on my wife's lap. "Are you mad at Daddy?"
"Of course not," Her lips curve into a smile stroking her blue hair. "How could I possibly be angry at The Prince?"
The fact that she's using my title says it all. "Son,"
My head turns towards his voice as he shoots me a small smile. "Father, where have you been all day?"
He let's himself fall on the chair as my mother sits down beside him. "We've been in multiple meetings."
"Oh?" My sister tilts her head sideways a bit. "About what?"
"You know, the usual things like the economy and Barian World."
"You mean, they are at it again?"
"We're not sure but it seems highly likely."
"And here I thought that they would maintain peace."
My friend snorts. "Like that will ever happen."
Barian World? "I'm sorry, but what is Barian World?"
They all look at me as if I have two heads. "You… don't remember what Barian World is?"
Am I supposed to? "Actually," My friend pipes up. "I like to know what Barian World is as well."
My mother looks at me. "Haven't you been reading the scrolls in your office?"
"Yeah," My hand rub the back of my neck. "About that…"
"You didn't read them, did you?"
"Haha… no." I was bored.
Groans ring throughout the room as I laugh sheepishly. "So… mind telling me what Barian World is?"
"Barian World is essentially the opposite of this one. The Barians thrive in chaos while we thrive in light." My father begins. "We have been at war with each other for thousands of years."
Ohhhhh. Barian World… hm… "Why must there be war?" My friend ask as they sigh.
"Well, Don Thousand wants to attack us so we have no choice but to retaliate." Don… Thousand?
(Pulse)
My hands rub my temples as a sharp pain courses through my body. Ow! Why does this keep happening?
"Honey?"
"Yes?" I hiss as the pain dies down a bit. Her soft hand touch my mine as I glance to my right to meet those gorgeous purple eyes.
"Are you-"
"I'm fine. Got dizzy for a moment that's all. Nothing for you to be concerned about."
My wife looks unconvinced but didn't question me more as a thought flies through my head. "Oh yeah, are you ready for the ball this evening?"
"Mhm."
"What's a ball?" The being on her lap asks as she crawls over to my lap.
My lip curve upwards as my hand card through her locks. "It's a dance."
"Then why is it called a ball?"
"It's derived from Latin origins." My wife said while putting a spoon of peach yogurt in her mouth.
"Ohhhhh…" A tiny hand pats my cheek as I look downwards into her purple eyes with tiny speaks of silver and gold around the irises. Gold and silver speaks? Have they always been there? "Daddy, are you going to dance with Mommy?"
I nod. "It's mandatory to greet the guests with a waltz from the Prince and Princess Consort."
"Wait a minute," My hazel eyed friend speaks up and looks at the person next to me. "If I remember correctly, you don't know how to dance."
"You don't know how to dance?" My sister's eyes widen as my wife's face reddens.
"Didn't your parents teach you?" I ask as she sighs.
"I would rather sword fight than dance." My wife mutters as I shake my head. Seriously. What lady doesn't know how to dance?
"This won't do at all. They are expecting a waltz from us this evening." I mutter as my eyes light up.
"Maria, you know how to do the waltz, correct?"
"Yea. Do you want me to teach her?"
"If you're willing of course."
She giggles. "Of course I'm willing."
"But she needs someone to practice with." True… um… I look at the guys as they blink. Hm…
"Can't you be my partner?"
"Unfortunately, I have a meeting to attend to after this."
A hand grips my arm with a pout. "Are you saying that a meeting is more important than me?"
"That's not what I'm saying." A sigh escape my lips as I run my fingers through my hair. "Zach-"
"No can do. My dad called me home for awhile."
My gaze drift towards my green eyed friend as he puts his arms up defensively. "Count me out as well. I also made plans to return to my mansion today."
That only leaves… "Brandon," He stiffens with a gulp.
"Yes?"
I glance back and forth between my wife and my friend. Hm… is this the best pairing? I mean, what other options do I have? But… they were past lovers.
"Do you know how to waltz?"
In Astral's office:
"So," I let the door shut as I sit at my desk. "What is it that you wanted to tell me?"
"I don't know if you heard but rumors have been spreading about us." My friend sits across from me as I raise a brow. Rumors?
"Care to enlighten me?"
Her cheeks reddens as she avoids my gaze. "They are saying that you and I… are in an affair…"
…
Did I hear her correctly? In an affair? Like a sexual affair? I blink with a slow head shake. "I'm assuming this started because of the kiss?"
"Yup."
"Don't worry, I will get this sorted out and clear us of this."
A sigh escapes her lips. "This people, don't they have anything better to do?"
A chuckle resonates from my lips. "Clearly not or else rumors wouldn't have started like this. Oh, and how are you feeling?"
"I'm doing great! I'm taking your advice of forgiving and leaving the past as it is."
"That's good." I sip my tea as a peaceful silence flows between us. Is she really doing well or is this just another mask?
A little hand tugs on her sleeve with a pout. "Maria,"
My friend gives her a smile. "Yes?"
"Can you play blocks with me?"
I glance over near the other side of the room where the box of toys are present then back at my daughter. Why does she insist on playing in my office?
She giggles and pats her hair. "I would love to but only for a bit ok? I got to teach your mother how to dance."
"Ok!" Her eyes lands on me. "Will you be playing as well?"
"I would love to but I have some documents to look over and have a meeting in 10 minutes. So," I pat her shoulder with a smile. "Have fun playing with her okay?"
"Will do, Daddy!"
Liliana's POV:
"Brandon,"
"Hm?"
"I'm doing bad, am I not?"
"Why would you say that?"
"I keep stepping on your feet."
He winces a bit. "No no, you're doing great!"
I let out a sigh. "No need to flatter me. I'm never going to get this. It's been 20 minutes."
"You're a beginner. Don't worry, this is the easiest type of dance there is."
"The fact that you said that doesn't make me feel any better."
He chuckles as I pout. "How can you be so good at sword fighting and a mess at dancing?"
I shrug. "As I said before, dancing never appealed to me. Too feminine for my tastes."
"Of course it is." He hisses as I gasp. Not again!
"Brandon, I am so-"
A hand comes into contact with my lip. "Don't be. I'm fine."
How can he be fine when I stepped on his feet roughly ten times? "Lily," My hazel eyed friend sighs as the music stops. "Are you not comfortable with him as your dance partner?"
Huh? "Why would you say that?"
"Because you've been keeping quite a distance making it hard for him to lead." Ohhhhh…
I meet his gaze. "The moves are way too graceful for me."
"I figured that was the case." Her eyes light up. "How about a slow dance?" A slow dance?
He places a hand under his chin. "That could work. It's even simpler than the waltz." Yay… if I can't master this then I'm truly hopeless.
Footsteps resonates outside the door as four figures walk in. "Maria, how are they doing?" My brown haired friend asks.
"Not well." She subtly shakes her head with a sigh. "She failed at the waltz."
My gold eyed friend eyes widen. "You failed at the waltz?! Why that's literally the easiest dance."
I groan covering my face. "Don't remind me, Astrana."
"So what are they doing now?" My green eyed friend speaks up.
"Yeah, are they doing the waltz or something else?"
"Well, the slow dance might be a good option for her."
My beloved nods and walks over to my friend with a bow as he offers her his hand. "My lady, may I have this dance?"
She giggles as holds his hand. "Why of course, Your Highness."
Huh? "Liliana," His eyes turn to me. "Watch our steps and movements carefully okay?"
"Alright." I move off the dance floor so that my husband and my hazel eyed friend have room.
"Now, what position are you most comfortable with?"
They stand slightly to the left of each other with their feet in between each other's. "Anything works. After all, I danced this type with you before."
His eyes slightly widen. "You did?"
She nods as she wraps her arms around his neck. "When we were younger, I was the only girl out of our friends that can dance so I was your partner."
"Oh… that makes sense." He cautiously wrap his arms around her waist pulling her a bit. "Are you comfortable with this or shall I switch my hold?"
"It's fine." She looks towards my green eyed friends. "Star, Estrella, would you mind hitting the play button?"
"Ok!"
When the music started, their feet glides across the dance floor in perfect harmony. With each step that he takes, she counters it elegantly with her own as their bodies sway to the rhythm. They look so… perfect for each other.
"You know what? I'm surprised." My friend speaks not taking her eyes off them. "I never knew he was such a good dancer."
"Of course he's a good dancer. All of those parties that he had to go to is all about networking and dancing."
My gaze drift back to my husband rolling his eyes as she winks. He met her before me. If I didn't get between them, maybe… they would be more than… friends… My chest tightens as a sharp stab causes me to wince clutching the left side. Ow!
"Liliana?" A hand touch my shoulder as I meet concerning dark blue eyes. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." I shoot him a smile then look back at my husband. He said that he doesn't view her that way. Since when did I become so insecure?
Astral's POV:
Whew! I yawn as I roam the streets. There's nothing like the outdoors. The smells, the laughter, the… My ears perk up as I hear a sound that resembles a person in pain. Eh? Crying?
And there goes my peaceful walk. I step cautiously towards the alleyway as my jaw hangs open. What on earth? In front of me lays an unconscious, frail looking woman around my age with pale blue locks and fair skin. Next to her is a small hand woven basket. In the basket lays a baby boy who is crying and reaching his tiny arms towards the woman.
Why is she…! "Miss," My hands shake her gently. "Miss, wake up."
"Miss!"
What should I do? Should I bring her to the palace? No, it's way too far and who knows how long she's been laying her for. I carefully place a finger under her nose as I let out a breath of relief. Thank goodness she's still breathing.
In the ER:
Its been 10 minutes… I rock the baby in my arms as I pace back and forth in front of the room. Why was she laying there?
"Ok, ok," I bounce the boy up and down. "Your mother's going to be fine. Don't worry so much."
The door opens as the doctors comes out with a head shake. Uh-oh… if he's wearing that defeated expression… "Doctor, how is she?"
His red eyes meet mine as his lips draw into a fine line. "Are you her family?"
"I-"
The baby in my arms starts to cry yet again as I materialize a milk bottle. "Your mother is fine. Here, have some milk." I plop the bottle in his mouth as he sucks on it hungrily.
"Anyway," My gaze directs to the doctor as he leads me inside of his office and close the door. "How is she?"
"Your wife is fine. She collapsed because of heat stroke but since you got her to the hospital quickly, there wasn't any major damage done."
Heat stroke… no wonder she was burning up when I carried her. "However, her eyes on the other hand…" Her eyes?
He shakes his head with a grim look. "She's blind."
My eyes widen. She's… blind? Was it a cause of the heat stroke or was it something else?
"Is there anything you can do for her at this point?" I ask after a moment as he shakes his head once more.
"Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is wait for her to wake up then start from there. I already checked her eyes and it seems likes she was blind from birth."
Blind from birth… I look down in my arms as the boy sleeps peacefully. Blindness is genetic… if that's the case… "Can you see if he has a vision impairment as well?"
He nods as I hand the baby to him. "As you wish,"
5 minutes later:
The door opens as the baby giggles playing with the stethoscope. He hands him back to me and sits down with a smile. "Your son's perfectly normal. No illnesses, vision impairments, a healthy infant."
A breath of relief escapes me. That's a relief. Wait… did he say… I chuckle a bit. "Doctor, I think you misunderstand. I'm not his father."
He blinks drifting his eyes back and forth between in baby and me. "Really?" He exclaims flabbergasted. "You seem so close to him though and he rather likes you."
His tiny hands play with my shirt as my lips curve upwards. "I guess I'm good with babies."
"So, that must mean that woman in there isn't your wife…" His face pales. "I am so sorry, sir. I-"
"Don't worry about it," The tiny being in my arms giggle as I poke his cheek. "It was a mistake that anyone could've made."
"When will she awaken?" I ask after a moment as he looks over his charts.
"Well, it's hard to tell but I think she will awaken in a few days." His eyes widen as he pulls out a clipboard in his drawer and hands it to me. "Do you happen to know if she has any family members or guardians?" How do you expect me to know that?
I shake my head as he sigh. "It's just… with her being blind… there will be no one to accompany her home and support her."
True… not to mention her son. My hands pick up the clipboard and scribble down my emergency contact information. "I'm writing down my contact information if you don't mind."
"No no, not at all, sir."
My lips curve upwards as I hand him back the clipboard. "If her condition changes and/or she wakes up, feel free to call my cell."
He looks over the paper as his eyes widen. "This… name…" He looks at me in shock. "Are you…?"
I wink as I cautiously remove my ice blue contacts. "Recognize me now?"
A gasp emits from him as he kneels. "Your Highness, please forgive me for being rude. I didn't-"
My hands help him up as I shake my head. "You are forgiven. Plus, my goal was for people not to recognize me. So in a way, it worked out."
"Your Highness, I apologize."
"I said not to apologize, didn't I?" My eyes drift towards the wall clock. It's almost time. "Oh, and here," The baby in my arms squirms with a cry as I hand him over to the doctor. "Take care of him and his mother, alright?"
"I will do my very best, Your Highness."
I plop my contacts in blinking a bit. "I have somewhere to be but notify me if she awakens or her condition changes."
"As you wish, Your Highness."
Liliana's POV:
"Wow,"
"Wow is right,"
"How can there be such a handsome man walking towards us?"
"His pale blue hair and ice blue eyes…" My eyes narrow. Have I seen him before?
My heart thumps faster as he approaches. What on earth? Why is it beating so fast? He winks at me as my cheeks redden. Why is it so warm all of a sudden?
"I think I'm…" A voice next to me mutters while staring at the guy unblinking. That… gaze…
My eyes drifts back and forth as my sister-in-law gulps. Something tells me…
"Good afternoon, ladies," A soft warm voice fills the air as he smiles. "How do you do?"
"I-I'm g-good." The woman next to me stutters with her cheeks pink. Perhaps I can help her a bit.
"I apologize if I sound rude but are you single by any chance?"
His eyes widen stifling a laugh. "Why would you ask that?"
I glance at my sister who is still staring at him with admiration in her eyes. "If you are," My hands grip her shoulders pushing her in front of me. Astral's going to kill me if he ever finds out. "My sister would gladly go on a date with you."
"W-What?!" She snaps from her staring contest as she pulls me to the side. "What on Astral world are you doing?"
"I'm helping you."
"By embarrassing me?!" She seethes as I let out a sigh.
"You like him."
"I don't."
My face defaults to its neutral state. "I recognize that look anywhere. No need to lie, Astrana."
"I-I'm not lying!" She glances back at him as her face grow more pink. "I don't like him like that."
"Then why are you blushing?"
"I-I am?" Her hands cup her cheeks as she shakes her head rapidly. "H-He just looks really attractive… that's all."
"Thanks for the compliment, Princess." A voice interrupts our whispers as we glance at the guy who is beaming. "I appreciate it. Truly."
"Y-You're w-welcome."
Hah, and she has the nerve to say she doesn't like him. It's all displayed on her face.
I clear my throat. "So, are you taking me up on that offer?"
"Lily! No!" The woman next to me facepalms as the guy in front of me blinks looking at my sister.
A laugh rings out in the room as he loses his composure. "That depends." His hand reaches out towards hers kissing it softly. "Are you willing, Princess?"
She gulps as I wink at her. Her cheeks grow even more red. "I-I… uh… um… y-yes."
A flash of disbelief shines in his eyes as he lets out a sigh pinching his nose bridge. "Princess Astrana, you astound me, you know that?"
"I-I do?"
He nods retracting his hand from hers. "You don't even know me yet you agree to go on a date."
She flushes while looking away from him. "I…"
"Did you forget what happened on the bridge that day?"
Huh? Bridge?
"Pardon?" She raised an eyebrow at him as a smile crosses his face.
"That red haired man. He came up to you." Her golden eyes slowly widen. "Luckily, a guy saved you from his clutches."
"How… did you…" A whisper escapes her lips as he winks at her.
"Princess Astrana," He bows in front of her. "You're very cute but I'm afraid I must decline your invitation."
He what?!
"Listen here, you handsome piece of meat. No one declines her invitation!" I shout as I push her in front of me. "Look at her! Gorgeous golden eyes, soft aquamarine hair, a face and smile that lights up the sky. How could you decline her advances like that?!"
"Lily, stop it."
"But-"
My sister places a hand on mine. "If he doesn't like me, there's no use forcing him."
Astrana…
Her eyes meet his as they narrow. "Have I… met you before?"
The guy cocks his head to the right. "I don't know. Have you?"
"Daddy!" My daughter runs up to him as everyone's eyes widen. Huh?!
"Wait, what the?"
"Melody, that's not your father."
"Did she just call him daddy?"
Who is this man? She hugs his legs as he pats her hair. "What's your name, sweetheart?"
Her lips curve downwards. "Dada," She swings his hand back and forth.
I snap from my shock as I walk up to him. "Melody, that's highly disrespectful." I pull her towards me.
My eyes meet his as my I gulp. Darn it. He has the beauty that rivals my husband's! "I apologize for my daughter's behavior."
"But Mama, this man is Dada." There she goes again.
I kneel to her level. "Melody, you can't call other guys like that."
She tilts her head then look back to him. "But he's-"
"He's not your father."
She blinks in confusion. "But…"
I stand to meet his gaze. "I apologize for-"
"Don't mention it, beautiful." He flashes a smiles as I nearly choke. Did he just…
"T-Thank you for the compliment." I stammer as my face heats up. Am I actually blushing at his words? What is wrong with me? I have a husband! Speaking of which, where's Astral?
His lips touch the back of my hand. "You're too kind, My Lady."
The man in front of me rises and embraces me as I stiffen. What… My heart accelerates as he kisses my neck. What the…! I immediately push him away and stumble back glaring at him. "I have a husband so please, be mindful of your actions."
"Oh." He frowns. "Guess you don't recognize me, Liliana."
Huh? I glance at my friends as they shrug giving me clueless expressions. "I've met you before?"
He puts his hand to his chest while letting out an astonished gasp. "How can you not recognize me?"
"Uh… I'm pretty sure that we have never met before…" I said as he pushes me to the wall. W-What?
"Hey!"
"Let her go!"
"Wait, you guys, calm yourselves."
"Mom, what are you-"
"He won't do anything to harm her." My father in law said.
I gulp as he pins me to the wall. His piercing ice blue eyes bore into mine as his lips gets closer to my lips. "Who are you?"
His lips stops centimeters away from mine with a smirk. "You honestly don't recognize me, my love?"
My… love? The only person who calls me that is… but he can't be. His eyes are different. My eyes narrow. "I'm not in the mood for games. Tell me, who are you?"
A chuckle escapes his lips as he leans closer. "Stop it!" My head turns away as I arch my back against the wall. My body shivers as I feel his hot breath on my ear.
"I'm your husband, Liliana." He whispers. The scent of jasmine and sandalwood fills my nostrils. That cologne…
My eyes widen. What? Did he say that he's my husband? Is this guy crazy? I meet his blue eyes. "Liar."
The man let's me go with a laugh. "I guess these colored contacts really work." Colored… contacts…?
"Lily, are you alright?"
"Did he do anything to you?"
My white haired friend takes a protective stance in front of me. "If you want to get to her, you have to go through me!"
"And me as well."
"Count me in! Look, if you dare harm my sister in law," Her eyes narrow. "My brother is the Prince. He will surely sentence you to death."
Awww! My lips curve upwards. I have such great friends! "Thanks you guys but I got this."
I walk towards him wrapping my arms around his neck throwing him a wink. "I got to say, you're one of the hottest guys I've met so far,"
"Oh?" His arms pulls me closer by my waist. "What about your husband, my dear?"
Hm… what should I say? So many choices. "Make no mistake," My hand strokes his chest lightly as I lick my lips. "I love him to death but once in a while, I prefer someone… new,"
His eyes widen as a dangerous look crosses his face. I lean closer. I got him. "Who's this new person, my darling?" He pulls me closer as I lay a hand on his cheek.
"Isn't it obvious?"
My nose touch his as my lips curve into and smile. "No one because I love only you… Astral."
A chuckle escape his lips. "What gave it away?"
"Your cologne and the fact that our daughter can identify you. Also, what brought this upon?"
"I wanted to see your reaction."
My lips form a pout. "Don't you know my love for you?"
He pecks my lips. "Of course but still, just as you get jealous, I can get territorial as well, my wife."
I stifle a giggle as I poke his cheek. He's so cute!
"Lucky," My sister in law whines as I lean back. "Seriously?!"
"I can't believe that my precious little sister didn't even recognize me." He laughs. "And to think that you even threaten to put me to death."
"Hmph," She crosses her arms as I shake my head.
My husband smirks at her as a mischievous glint forms within his eyes. "And to make matters worse, you tried to hit on me."
"I-I…" Her eyes widen as she sputters cupping her pink cheeks. "How was I supposed to know that it was you of all people?!"
He raises an eyebrow. "Did you not get the hint I gave you?"
My friend mutters something under her breath as her cheeks grow even more pink.
"Astrana," He places a hand on her shoulder with a sigh. "I'm sorry. I didn't raise you right."
"What?" She snaps her eyes to his. "What do you mean?"
"Based on your actions earlier, I failed to educate you about men and their way of thinking."
Her jaw slowly opens as he swings a hand around her shoulders. "Listen, whatever you do, stay away from guys. Especially the playboys. Those are the worst." My husband starts as I shake my head. Well, it could be worse.
"Men are nothing but trouble. Considering how naive you are about this, I'll tell you a little something. There are a bunch of scumbags out there who view women as property."
"Brother, I already know-"
"You do?" He scoffs with a hand wave. "I beg to differ considering you tried to go out with me because of my looks."
He just won't let that go.
"Anyway, all they care about is your body." His face defaults a serious expression. "Once they get what they want, they'll leave you in a pit of despair and-"
"Are all men are like that?" My sister-in-law interrupts him as he nods.
"Correct."
"Then…" She inches away from him with a fearful look. "Stay away from me."
Hahahaha! Good one, Astrana.
My beloved blinks blankly as he facepalms. "Not me, little sis."
A hand points at him. "But you said all guys when you yourself are a guy as well."
He blinks at her blankly. "Wait a minute," She looks back and forth at me and my husband raising a brow. "If you say that," Gears turn in her head as a gasp rings throughout the air. "How could you?"
"Huh?"
"You view your wife as property?!" My husband's eyes widen as he tries to protest but she narrows her gaze. "Look her, just because she's married to you, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with her. She's a conscious being with thought and emotions not a puppet for you to control." A hand holds mine firmly. "Lily, if my brother ever forces you to do anything against your will, come to me. I'll be your support."
Aw!
A warm fuzzy feeling flows through me as I look at my darling who is now blankly staring at us. "I still cannot believe you rejected her advances. And to think you could have this sweet girl," My head shakes with my eyes close. "What a shame."
"You two," He mutters as our friends stifle giggles. "Perhaps I should clarify on what I meant. Most guys view women as property not all of them. Besides," His gold and silver eyes lock with mine. "You can attest for me, my darling wife."
Should I though? Hm…
"I… don't know…"
"What do you mean I don't know?" He asks clearly flabbergasted.
"Sometimes you…" I trail off as my sister looks at me in shock.
"Lucky, did you force her into something?!"
"What are you saying? Of course not!" He shouts back as they continue bickering.
Ah sibling. Annoying each other to bits.
"Mommy, this man is Daddy, right?"
I nods as I pick her in my arms. "You were right all along, sunshine."
In my room:
I rummage through my closet. What dress should wear? It's a ball so knee length dresses are out of the equation. Hm… My eyes widen as a stunning see through blue lace long sleeve open back dress with beading along the upper half and a trail behind me catches my eye. This… dress… I don't remember it being in here.
Should I wear this dress? Hm… I walk towards the restroom and change into it. It's gorgeous… a bit tight around my stomach but it's not that noticeable right? My hand reach for the zipper in the back. Darn it. What to do now?
The door to the room opens as footsteps open the closet. "Astral, is that you?"
"Who else would walk into our room unannounced?"
I can hear the unbuttoning of his shirt and belt as my face heats up. No! Now's not the time to think about that!
My hands open the restroom door to find him buttoning up his shirt. "My love, can you help me with the zipper?"
"Sure." He glides over as I move my hair from my back. "But," Huh?
I glance back at him as he wraps his arms around my waist planting kisses on my neck as my heart beats rapidly. "Are you sure you want it zippered?"
"Astral…" A hand slips under my dress caressing my breasts as my breathing goes ragged. O-Oh lord. Why are his hands so… magnificent?
"N-Now's not the time."
"Oh but my beautiful wife looks so delicious." I gulp as he pushes me against the wall letting the dress fall revealing my matching undergarments. "Plus, we have some time before we have to leave."
My body shivers at his touch as he unclasps my bra and lick his lips hungrily. "What do you say, my beloved?"
My eyes narrow as I slam my lips into his pushing him on the couch. His eyes widen as he breaks the lip lock sporting a smirk. "You wanted this to happen, didn't you?"
I bat my eyelashes with a head tilt. "I have no idea what you're talking about, my beloved husband."
My beloved's gaze darken with lust as he carries me to the bed pressing his body against mine. I utter out a groan as he claims my lips. "That innocent look," A low voice said making me more wet. "Makes me want you more. Did you know that?"
"N-No." My chest beats rapidly against my rib cage.
A thumb runs over my lips. "Really? Why do I sense that you're lying?"
"I am?" I whisper pulling him closer until our noses touch.
"Yeah," A hand snake towards my private pulling off my wet panties as my chest moves up and down. "So, as a punishment…" My husband's eyes twinkle as dread fills my stomach. Uh-oh…
(Ring)(Ring)(Ring)
Eh? His phone rings on the table as he gets off me. What the? Is he leaving in the middle of this to answer a phone call?!
"Honey, seriously?"
He makes a shushing noise as he picks up. "Hello, to you whom am I speaking to?"
His lips draw into a thin line. "Are you sure?"
"Ok, ok, I'm coming now." He grabs his jacket. "Yes, no, no, it's no bother."
"Got it. Okay, see you in 20 minutes. Do everything in your power to prevent that from happening."
"Right. Okay bye."
The line ends as he runs his finger through his hair. "Why does this have to happen now?" What was that call about?
"Is everything alright?"
"Yea," He turns towards me as I walk up to him. "Everything's fine." Then why do you bear that expression?
I cup his face so that he stares into my eyes. "Do you think this is the first day I've known you? That phone call was about something urgent, wasn't it?"
He nods. "Yes." My beloved sighs leaning to give me a lingering kiss on the lips. "Something came up and I must go but," His arms pull me closer so my head rests on his chest. "I'll make it up to you later."
"Then go and stay safe, got it?"
His lips curve into a smile. "I knew you would understand, my beloved wife."
Astral's POV:
You must live! If you don't then what will happen to your son? I pace back and forth within the the ER as the baby in my arm whimpers. "Don't worry, little one." I rock him gently. "Nothing will happen to your mother."
How did she end up like this? The door finally opens as the doctor comes out sighing. His eyes widen as he starts to kneel but I stopped him. "Not here." I glance at the others as he nods and leads me into his office shutting the door.
"Your Highness,"
"No need for formalities."
"Has she stabilized?" I sit in a chair across from him as he nods.
"Currently, yes but that doesn't mean she's out of danger just yet." He rubs his eyes with a tired expression. "Your Highness, heatstroke is a life-threatening condition that happens when your body temperature rises above 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius). It's usually the result of overexertion in hot, humid conditions."
"Yes, that I get but is there anyway to cool her internal temperature down?"
He bites his lip. "I have tried everything to cool her down but no luck. If her body keeps heating up like this then I'm afraid that she will…" He trails off as my eyes drift to the baby in my arms. If that happens… unless… My eyes look at my hands as a thought flies into mind.
"Doctor, have you tried the transfer of ice directly into her body via magic?"
His eyes widen. "No not yet but that could work if we find someone with an ice core and is willing to-"
"I have an ice core."
"Y-Your Highness, you're not considering-"
"I have to try. If she dies then her son will be an orphan."
"Yes, I get that but if anything happens to you, I wouldn't ever be able to live with myself." He kneels in front of me blocking the door. "Please, reconsider, Your Highness."
"Nothing will happen. I will just transfer some of my prowess to her in hopes of lower her internal temperature. It will be fine."
Inside the room:
A frail young woman lays on the bed as I step closer. Oh god. I can feel the heat radiating off her. I flip through the clip board as my eyes widen. This explains it. She has a fire core. No wonder she's like this.
"This is going to be harder than I thought." I summon up a pill and plop it her her mouth. Since I have an ice core, I must be careful or else we will both fall into our demonic states.
A tingling sensation from my abdomen flows throughout my body as blue streaks of light emits from my hands to her chest. Ok… I got to focus. My eyes shut as I can feel my energy leaving my body in consistent amounts.
(Pulse)
My eyes shut tightly as a wave of pain assaults my temporal region.
(Flash):
"Get away from me!"
(Flash)
…The scent of blood…
(Flash)
…A figure rocking with tears streaming down his face…
(Flash)
…A white haired girl laying there, beaten and bruised…
(Flash)
"Help me!" Voices scream from the darkness as the two figures curl up next to each other covering their ears.
(Flash)
"Astral," A girl with long blue hair and bright pink eyes cup my cheeks. "I love you."
(Flash)
W-What the-
(Bzzzzzt)
My eyes widen as I clench my teeth trying to stop my prowess from flowing into her. Oh no! If this keeps up we will both…
The lights flicker as I sever the connection between us. The force causes me to stumble back a few steps hacking crimson into my palm. This is what I get for letting my mind wander.
I summon up my pills and swallow one of them. This should stop my illness from manifesting right now. My eyes drift toward the person laying on the bed. Well, I no longer sense heat radiating from her. I guess it worked.
The door opens as the doctor rushes in with a concerned and panicked expression. "Your Highness, are you alright? Are you hurt? Here sit down and-"
"No need to worry. I'm fine. I no longer sense the heat radiating from her so she must be doing well now, right?"
He nods. "You're correct, Your Highness."
My eyes drift towards the wall clock. That took longer than expected. "I must go. If she awakens, notify me."
"But Your Highness, you look quite pale. Are you sure you're-"
"I'm fine." I open the door gritting my teeth to stabilize myself. Why do I feel so weak? Was it because I forcefully severed the connection?
Liliana's POV:
My eyes drift to the clock for the hundredth time today. Where is he? Didn't he say he was going to be back in time?
"Did he say where he was going?"
"No."
"I'm assuming he hasn't returned?" My mother in law ask as she walks towards us.
"No, Mother." I let out a sigh. "He's not responding to my telepathy attempts either."
Groans emits all around me as I sip my water. "Mommy, do you think he has an emergency to attend to?" It seemed like it with that phone call.
I stroke her hair as she bites off a piece of a cookie. "That could very well be the case."
"What emergency could he possibly have?"
He shrugs. "Beats me. He's always been so mysterious."
"I don't know," My friend's eyes narrow. "I saw him in quite a hurry to leave and on the phone with someone."
"Hm…" A gasp escapes him. "Could it be that he's meeting another woman?"
My sister in law smacks him in the head. "Watch it with your words! My brother is not that type of guy."
"She's right, Zach. He's not that type of person."
"And what if he went to meet with another woman? It doesn't mean that he's in an affair."
He shrugs. "You never know."
"Stop it! His wife is right there."
"I'm just speaking from experience."
She places her hands on her hips. "What experience?"
"I'm back," A voice cuts through the chatter as I stand up with a smile. I knew he would be back.
"Son, where have you been?"
He laughs pouring himself a cup of water. "I've been taking care of something. Nothing for you to be concerned about."
Hm… "Why do you look so pale?"
"Do I?"
My friends gather around us as they nod. "Yeah,"
"I agree."
"You look pale."
"What have you been doing?"
"What was that call about?"
"Why did you leave in a hurry?"
"Was it an emergency?"
My husband rubs his temples. "Please, stop interrogating me like I'm a suspect."
My hand touch his forehead. "You're a bit warm, my darling."
"I'm fine, Liliana." With a wave of his arm, his clothes change into formal attire as he removes his colored contacts. "Let's go. We don't want to be late."
My love stands as he shakes his head clutching it with a hiss. Uh-oh… I hold his arm to steady his balance. "Are you positive you're alright?"
"Yeah," He gives me a soft smile. "Just a bit dizzy that's all." Is he hiding something that I don't know about?
At the party:
"Astral," My husband stares into space as I gently shake him.
"Astral?" I can't make a scene for everyone to watch since we are dancing… but what is he thinking so deeply about?
My arms pull him closer as I peck his lips. My husband blinks and snaps from his day dream as I lean back placing a hand on his cheek.
"My love, what are you thinking about?"
"Hm? Oh," A chuckle resonates from his lips. "Just random things that's all." He's always like this.
"Care to share what's on your mind?"
My head tilts as he smiles. "If you must know," He responds after a minute. "I think I'm starting to remember."
My eyes widen as my heart hammers. So he… "What do you remember?" I whisper as he leans closer hugging me as we sway to the beat of the music.
"I remember… our first time." First time? What does he mean…!
My eyes widen as he plants a kiss on my neck. He couldn't possibly mean the first time that we… "Do you mean…"
"Mhm." He pulls back staring into my eyes. "I remember that night."
I can feel my face heating up as butterflies flutter in my stomach. "S-Since when?"
"Since our wedding kiss."
Eh?! My lips draw into a pout as I smack his chest. "You liar. Why didn't you say anything before?"
He rolls his eyes. "How did you expect me to say it when you never asked?"
"But I did ask, remember?"
"Yes, but it wasn't very appropriate to talk about that memory at the time. After all, I was with our friend."
True… "About the kiss between you and-"
"There's nothing going on between us." My beloved interrupts me pulling me closer. "I swear I don't-"
A finger covers his lips. "I know. You don't need to explain, my husband." His reaction showed me everything I needed to know.
"I know you don't view her that way." I whisper leaning into his chest as he leads my body. "And even if you two did have feelings for each other, I would-"
"That's not going to happen, my darling." His hot breath hits my ear causing me to shiver. "I married you, Liliana. You're bearing my child and I meant everything I said last night."
I nod stifling the tears as I nuzzle my face in his shirt. "I know, Astral." Why am I getting so emotional nowadays?
My arms pull him closer as he pats my waist. A brief period of silence passes us as my eyes direct onto my daughter near her grandparents taking some food from the buffet. Of course she would go for the food.
He stifles a laugh. "Looks like she's enjoying herself."
"Mhm. Considering the amount of food she's eating, I'll saying that's an accurate interpretation."
"She's a growing girl. She needs the nutrition and besides, our parents are there to help her out."
Yup. A growl cuts through the silence as my face flushes. Oh come on! My beloved leans back with a cheeky smile.
"It looks like someone's hungry." He teases as I roll my eyes.
"Yea yea," I glance at the food table with a gulp. "I'm a bit peckish."
"What do you want?"
Hm… so many varieties. Do I want cheesecake, cupcakes, donuts, chocolate, tiramisu, cookies, eclairs, or cream puffs?
"Can you get me the cupcakes, my beloved husband?"
"Of course," He leads me to the table and sits me down. "Be right back."
This is the life. Having him cater to my every wish. My eyes scan the room as they widen and a smile grows. In the other corner, Maria and Derek are doing the waltz. Huh… it would be nice if those two got together.
(Flash):
"Lily, what would you do if you like someone in our friend group?"
My eyes widen as I bite off a cookie. "You like someone?"
"No, no," He puts his arms in front of him. "It's a hypothetical question."
"Ohhhhh…"
"Yeah, any advice?"
"Well," I place a hand under my chin. "It depends on whether the person like you back."
"What if that person likes another person?"
"That's a tricky situation," My brows furrow. "In that case, you got to confirm if she has a crush or not. Then go from there."
He tilts his head. "Huh?"
"If she likes another person and that person reciprocates her feelings and seems to genuinely like her, then move on."
My friend nods as my eyes light up. "You're talking about Maria, aren't you?"
He chokes on his tea. "W-What gave you that idea?!"
A scoff escape my lips. "Puh-lease, anyone with eyes can see that you like her. It's super obvious."
His face pales. "Uh-oh… even an innocent person like you can see it… if that's the case… then Astral will surely notice!"
"What do you mean by innocent? And what role does my bestie play in this?"
"The one that she likes is him."
…
…
…
Him? Does he mean… "Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!" Astral? Maria likes Astral?
"It's the truth! All of the signs are there!"
I wipe a tear from my eyes breathing deeply. "Ok, ok, even if she likes him, I doubt that he views her that way."
He blinks blankly. "How are you sure?"
"Think about it," I lean closer towards him. "He has many beautiful girls surrounding him every day but he has yet to like anyone."
"Perhaps he hasn't found the one he truly likes yet."
"That could be the case but I have a theory. He said one time that he doesn't like girls."
My friend gasps as I nod with a shush glancing towards the door. "You mean he's-"
"That's a theory but the more I think about it, the more true it seems. He doesn't even spare a glance at the girls that his father sets up for him. Instead, he hangs out with Zach a lot these days."
"Are you saying that he likes-Mph!"
I slam my hand to cover his mouth. "Be quiet, Derek! Do you want the palace to know?"
He nods as he slumps back in the chair. "If that's the case then is Zach also…"
I shrug. "Beats me but he's quite indifferent about girls as well so my guess is possibly."
(Creek)
The door opens as I meet two pair of eyes. It's them. Woah, what on earth happened? Their clothes are disheveled and hair is a mess as my friend whines and plop himself on the bed.
"I miss your bed so much,"
"Hey, don't mess up my bed." He sighs pulling him off as he staggers.
"You're so cruel," He leans on him as my bestie sighs patting his back.
"Come on, go shower."
"I don't want to."
"Now."
His arms wrap around his shoulders tighter with a whine. "This is all your fault, Astral. Every time we go out, we end up getting chased by a ton of girls. They really must like you or something."
He chuckles with an eye roll. "Even if they like me, I have no interest in them."
"See?" I whisper into my friend's ear as he nods. "I told you he has no interest in girls."
"You're right. With the way that he's leaning on him for support, I say that they like each other."
"Definitely."
(Flash)
I stifle a laugh as I recall that memory. I can't believe that I thought he was a homosexual! Hahahahaha!
"Hey," My friend walks up to me. "What are you thinking about that's so amusing?"
"Star, get this," She sits on the chair next to me. "Have you ever had the thought of Astral liking guys?" I whisper as her eyes widen.
"What on earth?!"
I let out a few laughs. "In the past, I thought he was a homosexual."
She leans forward with interest. "Tell me more."
"What are you two whispering about?" My sister in law asks as she sits down across from us.
"Your brother likes guys."
"What?!"
"Shush! Do you want the whole palace to know?"
"What are you talking about?"
All of my friends except for Zach gather around the table as I make a come hither motion with a hand. "In the past, I thought my husband was a homosexual."
…
…
…
"A homosexual?!" Everyone gazes snap to my husband who is chatting with my friend and laughing.
