Liliana's POV:

(Flash):

A young girl around the age of 7 standing in the rain. Her little cute dress soaked as big droplets of tears cascade down her cheek.

"Mommy, daddy, where are you?"

(Boom)

She crouches down covering her ears with a tiny whimper. "W-Where are you two?"

(Flash)

"D-Don't leave me!" I snap my eyes open breathing heavily as my head pulses.

Ow… what on earth? That girl… was that me? Hold on a minute, since when was I in that situation? But that was definitely my voice. No doubt about it.

A hand grips mine firmly as I turn my head to the right. Huh?

My heart beats faster as I come face to face with his handsome figure. O-Oh lord. I forgot how adorable he is when he's resting.

I gulp moving one of my hands to cup his cheek. After yesterday, where does that leave us?

(Flash):

"I don't care if you're not the standard wife, Liliana. Who cares if you're not ladylike? All I care about is that you are my wife."

(Flash)

"Are you really not angry at me for lying to you?" I whisper as I bite my lip. Yeah right. Why wouldn't he be mad? If it were me, I would've been furious as well.

This is what you get for being selfish, Lily. You've got no one to blame except yourself. A sigh escapes my lips as I remove my hand from his face. He probably doesn't want to see me right now.

I cautiously unwrap his arm from my waist as a force yanks me closer into his chest. "W-What-"

"Where do you think you're going?" My husband's voice rings throughout my ears as I freeze. Trouble. Definitely trouble.

"W-Were you awake all this time?"

"Maybe. What are you going to do about it?"

He retorts as I shut my eyes tightly. That means… I made a fool out of myself once again. Darn it! First it was the thunder, now, it's that silly question. Argh! Why do I always behave so foolish around him?

My husband lets out a sigh and sits up on the couch. "Shall we go?"

I meet his gaze. Go? "Go where?"

"Where else? We've been in my office for a day now. Don't you think we should head elsewhere?"

Oh yeah… My head nods as I stand up with a yawn. I can't believe that I clung onto him like a baby! Ugh! Can you get anymore pathetic, Liliana?

The door opens as I trudge behind him. He's no longer ignoring me but… why does he seem more distant than before?

"Astral!" A being tackles him making him stumble a few steps back. "You're finally out!"

"Good to see you as well, Astrana."

My sister-in-law pulls away furrowing her brows. "You have no clue how hectic it was dealing with the officials without you." She sighs in exhaustion. "They were wondering if you're alright or not."

"I figured my disappearance would arise some suspicions. No need to worry, I'm back to take care of it." He lets out a smile patting her head. "You've done well, my younger sister."

Her eyes widen as a tint of pink dusted her cheeks. "Well," She turns away from her brother with a cough. "I'm glad that you're okay."

I stifle a laugh with the back of my palm. She's adorable. Blushing when he gives her a compliment.

"Oh," She grabs his left hand starts to pull him down the hall. "Since you're finally out, let's go."

"Where?"

"To see our parents of course!"

His smile falters as he slips his hand away from hers making his sister turn to him with a confused look.

Does he still resent his father?

"I don't want to see them."

That's a yes.

My sister-in-law blinks with her lips curving down. "Surely, you're not still blaming them for…"

A minute of silence passes between them as I glance back and forth. Should I say something?

"No matter," Her expression changes as her lips forms a smile once more holding his hand. "If you don't want to see them, then how about our friends?"

"Sure. Lead the way."

Gold eyes drift to mine as she waves. "Come on, Lily. Let's go."

Her hand takes mine as my lips curve upwards. How can she be so… carefree and happy all the time?

"Slow down, Astrana." She drags my hand glancing back at us.

"I forgot to ask," My sister-in-law grins. "How are things between you two going?"

Why would she ask that? I gulp as I glance at the man to my right. But… that is a valid question. I mean after yesterday… A neutral expression crosses his face. This man and his impassive look. Seriously?

"What do you mean?"

The woman in front of me blink blankly at her brother. "Um… you know, the whole thing about Astraea…"

I shoot a stern look at her. Why would you bring her name in this conversation?! That's just tearing another wound.

"Everything's fine." He responds emotionlessly as a hand grips mine. "Right, my darling?"

"R-Right." My eyes meet his as a small smile graces his lips. He smiled at me! Yay!

"Hm…" The woman in front of us looks unconvinced as my husband reverts back to his impassive expression.

Even though he's not ignoring me and said that everything is fine between us. My eyes drift to his as he looks out the window at the blue sky and beaming sun. Is that truly the case?

Maria's POV:

In the king's and queen's room:

I bite my lips glancing at the two of them who stare at each other. Green and red eyes meet luminous gold and silvers as all is silent.

"A-Astral," I speak after a long long minute as he continues to impassively stare at his father.

"I'm leaving." My friend stands up as I grip his arm.

"Please-"

"No."

"If you just-"

"I can't believe I let you talk me into this." He looks at me square in the eyes. "You know that the last being I want to see is him yet you-"

"This has been going on for a month." A sigh escapes my lips. "Whether you like it or not, you're going to come to a consensus."

He glances back across the couch at the king whose eyes bore into my friend's.

"I already reached a consensus on this matter."

"But-"

"But nothing." He yanks his arm from my hold as he spins on his heel. "I have some important matters to attend to. Please, excuse me."

Argh! Why is he so stubborn? All I wanted was for them to talk. Is that so hard?

"Your Majesty,"

"Maria, I appreciate this but I know my son the best. He won't talk until he's ready to and there's nothing we can do about it."

(Creek)

The door opens as I notice my friends and his mother with a hesitant look on her face. Why am I not surprised?

"Son…" The queen whispers as he meets her gold eyes. "I'm sorry. I-"

"Why are you apologizing, mom?"

Our eyes widen. Mom? Are my ears working? He actually called his mother mom for once?! Woah…

"You did nothing wrong." Her eyes widen as he pats her shoulder giving her a minuscule smile. "You shouldn't apologize for other people's actions."

Other people… meaning his father.

My friend drifts his gaze on to his wife and daughter. "I have some important business to take care of. I'll be back later, okay?"

What is this important business? "Alright." She smiles at him. "Stay safe."

"Of course."

I raise a brow at the minimal and formal interactions between them. This is… weird to say the least… is he still mad at her?

"Daddy," Her cute little arms wrap around his legs looking up. "What business are you doing?"

"Oh, just some things like meeting with people to discuss various topics."

She wrinkles her forehead. "Ideas?"

"Yes," My friend pats her cheek. "So, I need you to be a good girl, alright?"

"I'm always a good girl right, grandma?" Her head turns to the queen as she nods with a laugh.

"Yes. Yes you are."

His daughter swings his hand back and forth. "Can I come with you?"

"No."

"But daddy," Her lips form a pout as she grips his wrist.

A hiss escapes his lips as he yanks his hand from her grip blowing on it cautiously. Is that…

"Dada, why is there a scar on your wrist?"

My eyes lock with everyone else's as she said that. A scar…? He didn't…

"I… accidentally cut myself there." My friend defaults to his neutral face hiding his wrist behind his back. "It's nothing."

"Son-"

"It's not what you think. Don't worry."

Oh it's definitely what we think. I mean how can you accidentally cut yourself at the wrist? If you want to lie, at least make it more convincing!

The queen frowns holding out her hand. "Let me see it."

"See what?"

"Your wrist." Her gold eyes bore into his. "Let me see it."

"Why? I see no reason why you are interested in a little wound-"

"Son," Her eyes narrow as the atmosphere shifts within the room. "Your wrist, now."

My friend scoffs rolling his eyes. "Mother, must you do this? This is just a tiny-"

"You think I don't know what a cut looks like?" She grabs his wrist forcefully. "You purposely did this, correct?"

"You have no proof." He utters after a moment as I bite the inside of my cheek.

Astral…

"Why?" A whisper rings throughout the air. "Why must you deal with everything yourself? We're here. I'm your mother, Astral." Her grip on his arm tightens as tears prickle the corners of her eyes. "We could help you if you would just let us but why won't you? Why would you go and-"

"You all lied to me for two whole years." Her eyes widen. "Tell me, why would I go and ask you all for help?"

"I…" She shuts her eyes for a moment then reopens them. "But you shouldn't injure yourself like this. There are better ways to deal with this than-"

A dark chuckle emanates from his lips as he shakes his head. "A better way? Do tell me, mother. What is that better way?"

"You could…" His mother bites her lip. "Explain how you're feeling to us."

He looks at her blinking.

"I… that's better than bottling it up and-"

"I don't mean this in a rude way, mother, but," A hollow chuckle echos through the room. "Even if I were to explain them to you, you wouldn't get it. The constant guilt followed by haunting memories of her. The memories of her, that day, etched into my mind, reliving that moment whenever I shut my eyes." He looks up at the ceiling as I see tears forming in his eye sockets. "The emotional disconnection from reality making you question your own sanity." My friend shuts his eyes with a breath. "Tell me, mother," A cold tone emanates from his lips as his eyes meet hers, devoid of any emotions. "Have you ever experienced it?"

"I…"

"The sensation you get when you realized your whole world collapsed two years ago yet someone had the audacity to seal your memories," My friend glares at his father. "Making the remembering process even more painful as during that moment, you start to disassociate and tether between the borders of life and death."

Tethering the borders of life and death itself… A gasp rings out next to me as my dark haired friend presses her lips into a thin line covering her mouth with the back of her hand. Her purple eyes blink rapidly forcing the tears back.

"Tell me," His eyes grow more hollow like a cloud of darkness illuminates them. "Have you ever experienced such a thing before?"

The room grows silent as the woman in front of him looks at her son in horror.

"I…" Her voice cracks as tears flood her face. "When your sister was taken at the age of five." She gulps looking at her daughter then back to him. "I may not have experienced the same but I can imagine."

Lifeless eyes drift towards his sister then back to the queen. "Yes. You did but there's a silver lining." Her eyes widen as my friend lets out a minuscule smile. "She's still alive."

Gold and silver eyes shut as he lets out a dry cough into his fist. He opens them staring out the window with a distant gaze. "You get to meet her whenever you want. Tell her how much she means to you and how much you love her."

He turns back to his mother with a neutral expression. "While I can't do any of that currently. I can't tell her or even hold her hand because she's…" My friend pauses a bit blinking rubbing his eyes. "The only way I can do that is if I die."

Our eyes widen at that word. Is he still… I… but…

A dry chuckle escapes his throat. "Mind you, I thought about it multiple times already but decided against it."

Note to self: Keep an eye on him for awhile. Don't let him obtain any sharp objects.

My friend places a hand on her shoulder. "Don't cry." Gold eyes look into his as he lets out a small smile, his eyes still vacant. "I apologize for going down such a deep rabbit hole. I'm fine now. No need to worry, mom."

Fine?! You call this fine?! Is he oblivious or just plain dumb? No… he isn't any of those. My chest tightens as I look at his expression. Those lifeless, hollow eyes…

The queen stays silent as a smirk flashes on his face. "If you're indeed worried about this little scar," His fingers run across it gently with a melancholy smile. "I felt nothing while doing this."

Our eyes widen as I cover my mouth. He…

"Brother…"

"No pain, no worry, no sadness. Nothing at all. And you know what the funny thing is?" My friend beams at his mother as tears drip down her cheeks. "I did this because I want to feel something. Sadness, anger, guilt, anything would be better than nothing."

The fact that he said that. He couldn't feel anything while inflicting that upon himself… Astral, you…

"Daddy," A sniffle escapes a girl as she hugs his legs tightly. Her gorgeous purple eyes fill with tears as her father sighs picking her up from the ground.

"What's the matter?"

She grips his shirt with a frown. "I don't want you to be sad anymore."

He raises an eyebrow while drying her tears. "Why would you assume such a thing?"

"You said-"

"Oh," A chuckle escapes his lips. "The thing I said?" Her little head nods as he pulls her closer to his body. "Honey, I'm fine. Don't you worry about a thing I just said."

"But-"

"I'm being serious. Don't think too much about it." His arms pats her back as she clings onto his neck. "You know, sometimes I say things that come to mind. It doesn't necessarily indicate my feelings currently."

She shifts so that her nose is touching his. "But if you are saying this, does that mean you felt like that in the past?"

Are 2 year olds normally this smart?! I remember when I was a two year old. I was still watching cartoons at my mansion.

His eyes widen for a moment as he rubs her head letting out a sigh. "Didn't I tell you to not concern yourself with this matter? Besides, I'm okay now."

Okay my head! Even a ghost can tell he's not okay.

She eyes him with suspicion. "Really?"

"Have I ever lied to you before?"

A hand lays under his chin as her face furrows with a cute pout. "I guess not…"

"See?" A smile crosses his lips as he pecks her forehead. "And you dare doubt your father's words?"

Her eyebrows furrow. "You're not a father."

Huh?

"Then… what am I?"

"You're a daddy." She wraps her arms around his neck. "You are my daddy."

My friend blinks letting out a laugh. "Those terms can be used interchangeably. What's the difference between a father and dad?"

Her purple eyes blink with a head tilt. "Anyone can be a father but it takes a very special person to be a daddy."

My jaw drops at her words. It takes a special person to… huh… I never thought about that before. Should I start referring to my father as dad from now on?

His eyes widen as she buries her head in his neck. My friend's lip slowly curves upwards into a smile I haven't seen in a long, long time. That smile… His gold and silver eyes shine as the darkness lifts from them revealing the shimmering and beautiful colors. Those eyes…

Are you…

He envelopes her small figure shutting his eyes letting out a shaky breath. "Thank you." A whisper rings through the room as he gulps.

"Thank you, my little snowflake."

She blinks in confusion. "For what?"

My friend shuts his eyes tighter clinging onto her like his life depends on it. "Thank you so much."

Melody… The corners of my lips tug upwards. Thank you for getting my friend back. Thank you so much.

Astral's POV:

"Waltari,"

"The preparations are set."

"Brilliant."

"Location?" I ask as I round the bend plopping my blue contacts in.

"At a cafe on your right. She should be the one with the purple hair and purple eyes."

My eyes scan the surrounding area as they narrow in at an individual wearing a flowery dress with white pumps. So she's Katherine huh? I guess looks can be deceiving after all.

The surrounding tables and chairs are blocked off which is good. Time to commence my plan.

"Your Highness, I just received intel from Natalia that everything is fine on her end. They are doing stellar."

"Tell her to keep up the good work and if I have time, I'll visit them this week."

"Noted."

"Is there anything else you would like me to do for you, Your Highness?"

My gaze drifts to the woman sitting at the table sporting an indifferent expression.

(Flash):

"Your Highness," He bows as I wave an arm signaling him to come closer.

"What do you have for me?"

"I captured the two suspects that were at the restaurant." He hands me the files as I skim through them. "But there were nothing suspicious. Absolutely no motive for them to do such a thing."

He's right. Why would they…!

My eyes narrow. "You're wrong."

"Look at this," My finger points to their family members. "They both have a sick relative."

I can see the gears turning in his brain as he blinks at me. "You mean… someone bribed them to spread gossip about Her Highness?"

"Mhm." My hand went into my desk to pull out another file. A photo of an 18 year old woman with purple hair and eyes is shown on the cover.

"But who bribed them?"

"All the information is in front of you." I said as he looks at me blankly.

His eyes drift to the file on my desk as a gasp escapes his lips. "You're not saying that-"

"That's exactly what I'm saying."

He kneels with a frightened expression. "Your Highness, out of everyone in this world, this is the one lady that you can't-"

"I know," My arms cross as I lean back on my chair. "Her family is a multi-millionaire leaning off of other royals and building alliances with other nations to gain power. Their daughter, Katherine, was once engaged to me many years ago."

"If you know that, why are you still-"

"Because I just realized that this goes far beyond gossip and rumors." I walk towards the window. "Imagine what they would do if they gain more momentum? It would be catastrophic considering how ruthless they are known to be."

"Your Highness, I still don't think you should-"

"I know what I'm doing, Waltari."

(Flash)

"No. You're cleared for today."

"Thank you, Your Highness. I'll be in the restaurant above constantly looking for threats."

"Thank you."

My phone clicks as I shove it in my pocket. Let's do this.

I walk up to the table with my hand out. "Excuse me miss but by any chance, are you Lady Katherine?"

Purple eyes meet mine as she tilts her head. "Why, yes I am. Can I do anything for you, sir?"

A smile crosses my lips as I sit down on the chair across from her. "I thought you were her. You look no different from when we were little… Katie."

She stares at me as her eyes widen. "That name…" I remove my contacts as she gapes with her mouth hanging. "Astral?!"

I chuckle as I wink placing in my contacts again. "Yes, it's me. Long time no see."

"Oh my god," She mutters as her eyes meet mine. "Long time no see? Is that all you have to say to me after all this time?!"

"Ok, ok," I glance around to see people staring and whispering. "Simmer down. We're attracting attention."

A huff escapes her as she crosses her arms. "Seriously? I thought you forgot about me after all this time."

"What? How can I forget about you?" I reply shooting her a smile.

"Right…" She gives me an expectant look. "Says the person that got married twice without inviting me."

I rub the back of my neck. "Whoops, you slipped my mind."

"You're too cruel, you know that?" A pout forms in her lips as I roll my eyes.

"Anyway, it's good to see you again."

"Same!" She sips her tea. "We haven't seen each other in forever."

"More than a decade ago."

"Exactly." Her hands clasps in interest as she leans forward. "So, how's married life treating you?"

"It's good."

"And…?"

I blink as she leans closer to me. And what? I gently push her away. "And what?"

She sighs with a head shake. "Never mind. How's your wife? I heard that she's pregnant."

I got to reveal as little as possible without it seeming too suspicious.

"Oh, you know, she's been fatigued because of the morning sickness."

The woman in front of me nods. "Mhm. I hear you. My mother said morning sickness is the worst."

"True. I commend women for going through 9 months of pregnancy."

"As you should." She takes another sip of her drink. "Oh, and about your daughter, Melody, right?"

"Yes, that's her name." Why is she bringing her up? Is she planning to do something? No no no. I have to calm down. Don't jump the gun.

"I never knew you had it in you." Her eyes narrow as I blink with a smile.

"What do you mean?"

"She's already two years old but you've only been married for a month." Ohhhhh… she's talking about… Her hand covers her mouth with a giggle. "You sure move fast huh?"

A smile graces my lips as I sip my drink. "Haha… don't tease me."

"It's the truth though."

I need to divert this topic.

"Enough of my married life. You're eighteen, right?" I raise a brow. "Anyone you like yet?"

Her face flushes as she looks down. "N-No."

"Really?"

"R-Really." Her fingers fiddle with the end of her dress. "I-I haven't thought about it yet."

Very convincing, Katherine.

I point at her face. "You're blushing."

"A-Am I?" She cups her face as I let out a chuckle.

"It's fine. If you don't want to say it, I have no means in forcing you." I sip my cup glancing at her as her lips curve into a frown.

"W-Well, there is a guy I like."

So predictable.

"Oh?" I put my cup down with a clink leaning forward with interest. "Tell me, who have you got your eye on?"

"P-Promise you won't laugh?" She asks avoiding my gaze.

"You should know me by now. When do I judge?"

"True."

The woman in front of me bites her lips. "I… um… that guy… is…"

Married.

I raise a brow. "Can you speak up a bit?"

"T-That guy is… m-married."

I called it.

My eyes widen as I blink. Got to act like I'm surprised. "I'm sorry? Did you say that he's married?!"

She gulps as she averts my gaze with a pink tint on her cheeks. "Y-Yes."

Got to give her props. She's brave to admit that in from of me.

"Wow… so you like married men huh?"

Her face flushes even more as my lips curve into a smirk. "I never knew you liked experienced men."

"N-No!" She stands up waving her arms. "You've got it wrong, Astral! I-It's not like that!"

I hold in a laugh. This is pretty amusing. "Relax, Katherine. I'm joking."

She lets out a sigh of relief and sits back down sipping her drink. "You know, you're a lot different than I remembered."

"Meaning?"

"Back then, it was like pulling teeth to get you to laugh but now…" Her eyes narrow as she leans closer with a devious smirk. "I guess Her Highness had a positive influence on you."

You're not wrong there. "Ahem," I clear my throat. "There's a thing that I have been wondering for a while now."

The woman in front of me leans back in her chair raising a brow. "And that is?"

"Who's that guy you like?"

Her eyes widen as her face grows beet red. "W-Why would you ask that?"

"You know me and my curiosity. Plus, I want to know what kind of guy can capture a woman as wonderful such as yourself." I wink as her face turns even more red.

I got her.

"I… um… I'm afraid I can't tell you…" She squeaks out.

A sigh escapes my lips. "Very well then, I guess I'll-"

(Ring)(Ring)(Ring)

What is it this time? "Excuse me for a moment," I stand up holding my phone close to my ear.

"Yes?"

"Your Highness!" A panicked voice rings out on the other end. "We're being followed!"

"What?!"

My hand covers my mouth as her purple eyes stare at me in confusion. "Is something the matter?"

Uh-oh…

I let out a chuckle. "No no. Nothing at all."

"Waltari, who's following me?" I whisper. "Are they dangerous?"

"It's Her Highness."

"My wife?"

"Eh? Oh, haha my mistake." He laughs nervously. "I meant Her Royal Highness."

"Location?"

"3 O'Clock."

My eyes drift towards the pillar as I notice an aquamarine pig tail sticking out as she tries to hide herself from my view.

"How long?"

My eyes widen. "Five minutes and now you tell me?" I seethe as he gulps on the other end.

"I'm sorry. What do you want me to do?"

If he appears, no doubt that will arise her suspicions even more.

"I'll handle it. Just stay where you are until I call you." I whisper as I glance at the woman sitting at the table blinking at me.

"Yes, Your Highness."

The line disconnects as I turn back to my 'friend' with a smile. "Sorry about that."

"Is everything alright?"

A deep sigh escapes my lips. "I wish we can chat longer but something came up."

My eyes narrow as her lips purse and form a scowl for a brief second then switches to an understanding smile. "I understand. Don't worry about me."

Katherine… it seemed like I underestimated you. The fact that she can fake such a convincing smile… is deadly.

"Thank you for understanding." I start to walk out when a hand grabs mine tightly.

I glance back at her red face with a head tilt. "Is there something you want to say, Katie?"

"When can I see you again?" An audible whisper hits my ear as I smile.

Hm… if she comes to the palace, that would make things easier as in coxing out information… plus, less suspicious but it could be more risky though…

"You know where I live, right?"

Her eyes widen. "You mean-"

"Yes. Just say my name to the guards and they'll notify me of your arrival."

5 minutes later:

"Come out."

No response.

"There's no use in hiding, Astrana. Come on out."

Footsteps shuffle from the corner as my sister smiles sheepishly at me rubbing the back of her neck. "Astral, what a surprise! Nice weather we're having huh?"

"Why are you following me?"

Her eyes widen as she giggles. "Me? Following you?" A hand waves dismissively as she scoffs. "How dare you accuse me of such a thing?"

"I accuse you? That's funny because why else would you go in this alley if you weren't following me?"

She gulps darting her gold eyes back and forth. "Um… I… you act as if you own this road. Can't I step foot in here as well?"

"What business would you have to be in an alleyway, little sis?"

"I could ask you the same question, big bro. What's your relationship with that lady?"

A smirk crosses my lips. "So you were following me after all."

My sister huffs crossing her arms. "Fine. I was following you but that doesn't explain your relationship with that lady you were talking to."

Why was she following me? Never mind that. What should I tell her? That Katherine is the daughter of a multi-millionaire? That she's a part of a scheme?

A gasp escapes her lips as she covers her mouth. "Don't tell me that she's your mistress!"

What?!

"Are you having an affair with her and cheating on your wife?!"

"What on earth are you thinking in that head of yours?" I sigh rubbing my temples as she blinks. I swear this sister of mine is really something.

"Eh? So does that mean you're not in an affair?"

I scoff as an poke her forehead. "Of course I'm not in an affair. Honestly, do you think I'm that type of person?"

She rubs her forehead with a pout. "No but who is she then?"

"She's… a mere acquaintance of mine." I respond after a minute as she furrow her brows.

"Acquaintance? Don't you mean friend?"

"No. I mean acquaintance."

My sister raises a brow. "Are you sure? You two seemed awfully close…"

We did? That just proves that my acting is on par.

"I'm sure and why were you following me?"

"Oh," She laughs nervously as she swings my hand back and forth. "Would you believe that I happened to recognize you chatting with a stranger?"

"No." I blink staring at her expectantly as she lets out a loud dramatic sigh.

"Fine. I was making sure if you were alright or not."

Does she sense something off? Is my power not covering up the fact that my illness is getting worse? No no no. There's no way she can sense it. I sealed every part… unless… it's even more major than I realized!

"What makes you say that?" I ask after a moment as my fist clench. There's no way she can sense it. With her prowess, no way… let's not jump to conclusions, Astral. Calm down. Take a breather.

A hand touch mine as her eyes softens. Why is she looking at me like that?

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Again, do I seem off in some way for you to ask that?" I raise a brow as my body stiffens. Her arms wrap around my waist tackling me into an embrace. Huh?

"Astrana? Hey… um… what's the matter?"

"You are that's what."

Me? My face pales as my heart beats rapidly. Oh no… were my deductions wrong? Does she sense my powers deprecating?

"What… do you mean by that?"

"Astraea."

My body stiffens as she hugs me tighter. That name… I bite the inside of my cheek as my chest clenches.

(Flash):

Every bone in my body shakes violently. The scent of blood fills the air as my breathing labors. A blue hared 16-year-old female lays limply in my arms. "A-Astral," A blood-stained hand cups my cheek weakly as her shining pink eyes open. "I... love you..."

(Flash)

My body trembles as my heart rate accelerates. Calm down. Calm down, Astral. Just… calm yourself down. Stop shaking. Keep your heart rate down! Why am I trembling?

"Brother?" Gold eyes radiate concern as she leans back holding my shoulders firmly. "Are you…"

"I'm fine." It's just a name. It's just her name but why on earth are you shaking? Why are you reacting this way, Astral?

"You're... shaking..."

I blink as I quickly remove her arms stepping back a few steps. "I'm fine. No need to worry." My eyes dart to the exit of the alleyway as I meet my sister's concerned gaze.

"You look pale."

"Do I?" A force chuckle escapes my lips. "Must be the lighting. Anyway, I got somewhere else to be at this time. You go back first."

My body spins on my heels ready to bolt out of there when a hand tugs mine. I glance back at her. "Astral…"

"You worry too much." I laugh ruffling her hair a bit. "I'm fine, Astrana."

"But…"

My tongue clicks as I hold her hand. "Look, I'm honestly fine. Thanks for your concern but I have somewhere else I have to be right now."

A tint of pink seeps on her cheeks as I peck her cheek. "After I'm done with this, I'll return to the palace."

"You're not lying, are you?"

A smile crosses my lips. "Why on earth would I lie about that?"

10 minutes later:

(Ring)(Ring)(Ring)

"Waltari?" I take off my blue contacts and place them into their containers.

"Your Highness," A relieved voice exclaims from the other side. "I've been trying to get ahold of you for ages now."

"Sorry to make you worry."

"Did you get everything situated with Her Royal Highness?"

"Yes, no need to worry."

I walk along a deserted path to the woods. At the end of the woods lies a small white house. Along the front of it is a garden filled with fluorescent flowers. "Got to go, Waltari."

"Of course, Your Highness."

"Return to the palace to avoid arousing any suspicions and remember, do not disclose any information to anyone about my whereabouts, yes?"

"I swear on my life that won't happen."

"No need to swear. I believe you."

"Just remember to stay safe, Your Highness."

"Thanks." The line disconnects as my lips curve into a small smile.

I approach the house as a young woman with pink hair kneels. "Your Highness,"

"Natalia no need to kneel. This isn't the palace." My hands help her up as she bows.

"Has she been well?"

She nods. "Yes, the Miss (this is her title because she's not a member of royalty) has been doing quite well and so has the little child."

Thank goodness!

"And has anything changed since I last visited?"

"Wouldn't you prefer to ask me instead?" A melodic voice chimes in as I rush to her side holding out my arms.

"Careful!"

"Miss," My maid scolds. "I told you not to get up."

A laugh escapes her lips. "Oh come on, Natalia. You can't expect me to stay cooped up in the house all day, right?"

"Well," Her eyes meet mine as I clear my throat.

"Astrid, you know that with your condition, you can't overexert yourself."

"Your Highness, please forgive my rudeness." She begins to curtesy as I shake my head letting out a sigh.

"How many times do I have to say it? You don't need to curtesy in front of me." My hands hold hers as the maid nods and retreats.

"And please, refer to me by my name."

She nods as I guide her to the garden. "So, how are you enjoying this place?"

My friend sits on the swing. "A little to your left. Good"

"Thank you and this place is lovely." Her blue hair flows with the breeze as a smile graces her lips. "The flowers must be in bloom this season."

"Yeah, it's spring after all." I said after a few moments as I glance at her eyes.

(Flash):

"Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is wait for her to wake up then start from there. I already checked her eyes and it seems likes she was blind from birth."

(Flash)

Blind since birth…

"Stop it."

I snap from my thoughts as she grips my arm firmly. "Stop what?"

"Stop pitying me, Astral."

"What do you mean?"

"I mentioned to you before that I hate people feeling bad for me just because I can't see."

"Oh," I laugh sheepishly. "Sorry, Astrid. I didn't mean to offend you."

Her frown turns upside down into a giggle. "Don't worry about it. Besides, how can I stay mad at you when you're providing me with all of this? I know I said it before but you're so kind, you know that?" Her arms gestures to the air in front of her as I bite the inside of my cheek.

(Flash):

My hands tremble as I stare at the file on the desk. Astrid is…

(Flash)

Kind? I'm afraid you're wrong. I'm just atoning for my mistakes.

A cry interrupts the peaceful silence as the maid rushes towards us with a wailing baby in her arms squirming. "Miss Astrid…"

Remind me again, why did I get a person who is not good at taking care of children for a lady with a child? What was I thinking?

A smile crosses her lips. "Natalia,"

"I-I know, Miss, but you know that I'm not good with children. Especially babies."

She shakes her head with a sigh as I facepalm. Well, everyone has their limits.

"Give him to me."

"What? No, you shouldn't bother with him." The woman next to me exclaims hastily. "I can-"

"Astrid," I hold her hands with a smile. "When I'm here, I'm no longer the Prince. I'm just Astral."

"B-But I can't expect you to-"

"It's fine. I need the training anyway." I mutter as she hand the wailing baby to me.

Why is he crying so much? My arms rock him back and forth as he whimpers with a pleading look in his eyes. Hm…

"Did you feed him yet?" The woman next to me asks as her green eyes widen.

"Ah," She kneels with a pale look. "Miss Astrid, Your Highness, I deserve death! I am so sorry. I… please forgive me!"

I stifle a chuckle as the woman next to me giggles softly. So dramatic. "Please rise. No need to go to that extreme."

"Yes, he's right. Natalia, stand up. Don't worry, it happens sometimes."

A breath of relief comes from her lips as I nod. She rises. "Speaking of food," Her eyes drift towards mine. "Will you be staying for dinner, Your Highness?"

Should I?

"You know better than to ask him that." She chimes in with another sigh. "He probably has a lot of duties to attend to. Not to mention, the Princess Consort most likely is waiting-"

"Who said that I'm busy?" The two women looks at me. "I'm actually free today."

"Oh no. You shouldn't say that just because-"

"It's the truth. My schedule is free for the remainder of the day."

She bites her lips with a hesitant look. "If you say so."

Estrella's POV:

(Clang)

(Thrash)

(Bang)

Pots and pans clang all around me as I flinch passing the kitchen. What on earth? Is there an earthquake?

"Hey-Mph!"

A hand pulls me to the corner as my eyes widen. "What on earth are you-"

"Shhhh!"

"We're in the war zone." My friends whisper as they peek from the corner.

War zone?

"Actually Derek, we're safe right here. I feel bad for whoever is in there witnessing this travesty."

Hah?

"What are you all-"

"Shhhhh! Lower your voice, Estrella."

"She's right. We don't want for her to here us."

Her?

I cautiously poke my head into the kitchen as my eyes widen. The once seamlessly flawless kitchen where you can eat dinner off the ground, has been transformed to a horrendous mess. A thick coat of flour dusted the counter and the floors as dirty pots and pans pile up in the sink.

Holy… what the heck happened?!

"Has a storm hit this place? Why is it so… messy?"

My friends laugh. "Oh I wish that was the case."

"No no no. Actually, a storm has hit the kitchen. Her name is Liliana."

She did this?!

"Oh and messy?" He snorts. "Understatement of the century, my friend."

"What is she trying to do?"

"From what I can gather," She whispers. "After a meeting with her mother, she walked into the kitchen determined to bake something but ended up spilling the contents all over the countertop."

"Then… the dirty pots and pans?"

"She tried to cook something only to realize the heat was on too high and the contents got burnt."

That certainly explains the scorch marks…

"Lily…" A groan comes from the kitchen as I poke my head back in. "Why don't we take a break?"

"But it's only been 5 minutes."

She made this mess in 5 minutes?! That must be a new record.

The queen sighs rubbing her temples. "Let's examine this, shall we? In the last five minutes that you pulled me in here, you managed to spill flour everywhere and burned water."

Wait a minute… why is she doing this? This isn't the thing that she normally does…

Her eyes drift down clenching her fists. "I-I'm sorry. I…"

"Honey," Her arms pull her into a hug. "I'm not blaming you for any of this but I must know, why do you want to cook/bake something?"

"I mean, it's not something you would usually do."

My friend's hand clench even more until her knuckles turn white. "I…"

The queen's eyes shut for a moment then opens. "You're trying to be more wifely for my son, am I right?"

My eyes widen. What? But…

(Flash):

"I don't care if you're not the standard wife, Liliana. Who cares if you're not ladylike? All I care about is that you are my wife."

(Flash)

Didn't he say that he doesn't care about those things? Why is she still trying to fit into societal norms?

A sigh escapes her lips. "I thought he said that he doesn't care for those things."

"I know… but…" My friend gulps. "As a wife, I have to know the basics of making a meal." She chokes out as tears prickle the corners of her eyes. "If I can't even do that… then…"

I shake my head as I look away. Society and their expectations on gender roles. Why do they exist?

"If you really want to make him a dish," His mother said after a few minutes of staring at her. "I'll help you."

Her eyes widen in disbelief. "Mother…"

"Between the two of us, I think that we can come up with something that will please his palate." Her gold eyes stare into her purples. "What do you think, my daughter? Up for the challenge?"

"Of course I am!"

"Good." A hand pats her shoulder as she wipes her tears away. "There's that determination I like to see."

"The only problem is coming up with a simple yet palate pleasing dish that he would like…"

"Oh… that's not good…" My friend whispers covering her mouth staring at her phone as I turn my head towards her.

"What is it?"

"My brother is eating as we speak!"

"What?!"

"If that's the case then…"

I glance back into the kitchen as the queen and my friend flips through a book of recipes. Astral, why must you have dinner now?

"Astrana, tell him to stop eating!"

"Too late. He already finished." She showed us her phone as we gulp.

Darn it!

What to do? What to do?!

(Flash):

"I know… but…" My friend gulps. "As a wife, I have to know the basics of making a meal." She chokes out as tears prickle the corners of her eyes. "If I can't even do that… then…"

(Flash)

Lily… argh! These two are so… I swear, I'm getting gray hairs dealing with this couple! My fist clench. This won't do. I have to come up with a way to…!

"Dessert!"

Everything glances at me as I grin ear to ear. That's right! He had dinner but not dessert, right? At least, I don't think so… whatever. It's the only option left.

"Estrella," The queen looks at me in confusion. "Is everything alright?"

"Your Majesty," I curtesy. "Quick question but does His Highness have a sweet tooth?"

"I… believe he does…" She replies placing a hand under her chin. "Why do you ask?"

Perfect!

"Oh, and I got the perfect dessert for you two." My friend rubs his hands together like a mad-man giggling gleefully.

Liliana's POV:

Where is he?

My eyes drift to the clock ticking as I rub my eyes stifling a yawn. It's getting awfully late.

Perhaps I should try calling him?

I pick up my phone and dial his number only to stop. But then again… he might be doing something important… I shouldn't bother him. This isn't really important anyway.

"Your Highness," A voice calls beyond the door as my ears perk up.

"Yes?"

"I just received a text from His Highness. He said that he's returning late so you shouldn't wait for him."

My heart sinks as I grip the edge of my nightgown. Does he not want to see me that badly? Does he hate me that much?

(Flash)

"I said on multiple occasions that I only see you as a friend. If you force this marriage upon us, we would both end up unhappy."

(Flash)

My throat tightens as tears well up in my eyes. A loveless marriage…

(Flash)

"I love you, Astraea."

(Flash)

Right.

"Thank you for informing me about this. You may leave."

The only one, the only woman he loves is her. It has always been her. My throat locks even more as my body trembles. I glance at the dish I made sitting on the table. What was I even thinking? He clearly doesn't love me. Why did I bother taking the time out of my day to make this?

Am I holding onto a dream? Do I think that I can replace her in his heart? I curl my knees to my chest, wrapping my arms around them tightly. Who am I kidding? She was his first love. No matter how hard I try, I'm not good enough. I'm not her. I'm not perfect for him.

Astral, why? My breathing grows ragged as I shut my eyes. Why did you give me false hope? Why did you make me fall for you? Do you know how much it hurts to love you? The constant fear I get that one day, you would remember her and forget all about me. Do you know what that is like? To be by your side everyday yet knowing you don't belong to me. Knowing that I'm only a substitute for her.

Tears drip onto my nightgown as I bring my head down onto my knees. Do you know what it's like, my beloved? I want to hate you for making me feel this way but I can't! No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to hate you.

Why is love so hurtful? Am I wrong for marrying him? Was I wrong? Why did I become so selfish?

(Flash):

"There is a potion called the elixir of emotionless. When consumed, a being would forget the one they loved the most."

My eyebrow raises as I glance at the crystal clear liquid in the vile. "Really?"

"Yes but I would advise use with caution. This potion could have effects on the owner as well."

My hands instantly place it down on the counter. "Who on earth would want such a vile thing?"

"You would be surprised, miss."

"Anyway, the effects last up to two years. After that, the person you use it on will gradually begin to remember."

I blink at his words. "Then why would a being buy this?"

A smile crosses her lips. "That's for you to figure out."

(Flash)

I shouldn't have… I'm sorry, Astral. I… A lump forms in my throat. I had no other choice. I love you too much, my dear husband. Please forgive me.

Astral's POV:

(Flash):

"Astral, this may be a bit personal but," She bites her lip as I cut into my chicken.

"What is it?" I plop a piece into my mouth

"Are things between you and your wife okay?"

I freeze as those words escapes her lips. "Of course they are. Why would they not be?"

"It's just when I mentioned your wife… you suddenly agreed to stay for dinner…"

Ah great. I made it obvious.

"Not to mention your tone while agreeing…"

"I assure you, Astrid. Everything is going well between my wife and I."

"So you say…" A sigh escapes her lips as she stares blankly in front of her.

"If you don't want to say, then I won't force you but as a friend, I will give you some advice." Her hands find their way to mine gripping them tightly. "Treasure the person in front of you or one day, you'll regret it."

(Flash)

"Treasure the person in front of you…" I fiddle with the ring in my pocket.

(Flash):

"With this ring, I pledge my love and life to you,"

(Flash)

A sigh escapes my lips as I place the cold metal on my left forth finger. It can't be helped. There's no escaping this marriage so why should I?

"Your Highness, great timing." He bows as I raise a brow.

Great timing?

My butler gestures me into my room as I blink. "Her Highness is waiting for you."

My wife? I tilt my head towards the room then back at the guy gesturing me towards it. "Waltari, what do you mean?"

A smile crosses his lips. "All you need to do is enter your room and see."

Is it just me or is he acting highly suspicious? My ears perk up as muffled giggles and whispers come from the corner near the end of the hall. I take it back. This whole thing is suspicious.

Hm… is she planning something? Did I forget an important event? Is it her birthday?! Or maybe… this is a prank to get me back for ignoring her for a whole month?

"Your Highness, all you need to do is step inside."

"What is she planning?"

"Forgive me but I can't disclose that information."

"Waltari," I meet his gaze. "Since when did my wife bribe you?"

Muffled giggles from my friends resonate from the corner as his eyes widen.

"Your Highness! You accuse me. I did not accept any money."

A chuckle escapes my lips as I shake my head. "No need to get so flustered. I'm only joking."

Let's get this over with.

"Welcome, Your Highness,"

(Creek)

(Slam)

My wife's gorgeous purple eyes light up as she sees me enter the room. "A-Astral, you're home!"

She hops off the bed and walks towards me. "I haven't seen you all day. Have you eaten yet?"

I gulp as my heart accelerates. Oh no… I should've known. Her plan…

"My love?" Her head tilts cutely as my eyes trail her white sexy lace nightgown that ends at her upper thighs.

Oh god… that nightgown really leaves little to imagination. With that low cut cleavage and see-through lace- no no no no no! Get your mind away from the gutters, Astral! Stop it!

I cough a bit blinking averting my gaze from her beautiful body. "Your attire…"

"Eh?" She looks down with a smile. "Ohhhhh…" A giggle escapes her lips as she drags my hand to the couch. "You're wondering why I'm wearing this, right?"

"Mhm."

"So recently, I've been finding it harder to fit into my clothes." She starts as I look at her. True… she has been showing quite a bit since last month.

"The doctor said since I'm getting close to the second trimester, I should wear less constricting clothes to prevent any unwanted pressure."

Makes sense. My eyes drift to the dessert on the table along with a bottle of sparkling red wine. I blink and glance back and forth towards her then the dessert.

"Is there a special occasion I'm forgetting?" I ask after a moment as she gulps fidgeting with her nightgown.

Is it her birthday? An anniversary of some sort? Or is this a way to seduce me?

"Does it have to be a special occasion for me to prepare food for you?"

I guess not but… My eyes scan towards the dessert and wine again. There has to be a motive. There is always a motive to these things.

Liliana's POV:

Why is he looking at me like that?

I gulp as my husband stares at me with a critical gaze. My fingers grip my nightgown as I look towards my lap.

Was I wrong? Does he not like the dessert? I knew I shouldn't have listened to Brandon on the dessert.

"I got to say," I flinch as he snaps me from my thoughts. "It certainly looks appetizing."

Oh thank goodness it passed the visual test. Phew, now the only thing left is the taste.

"But does it taste as good as it looks?"

"T-That's for you to find out."

I stutter as he picks up his spoon and cuts a piece of it off slowly placing it in his mouth.

My heart thumps as I grip the hem of my nightgown staring at him as he displays a neutral expression. How does he keep his face so… emotionless like that? It's a skill set that's for sure. Is it odd that we're husband and wife yet sometimes I can't read him?

"Oh god,"

Oh no… that's definitely a bad sign. I can't even taste it because it has raw eggs. Ugh! Why did I listen to him?

"I-I'm sorry," My hands tremble as I pick up the plate. "I-I…" I should just throw this away in the trash.

"Why are you always stuttering when you're talking to me?"

"I…"

"Why are you flinching?"

"I-I'm s-sorry," My throat locks as he approaches. "I… um-"

What should I say? Is he angry? It's all because of me, isn't it? Of course it is.

(Flash):

"Why should I?" She scoffs. "His Highness must be suffering being married to her. A woman that doesn't know how to cook and clean is no woman at all. Why I got to-Mph"

(Flash)

"Look at me."

I bite the inside of my cheek and direct my gaze down into my lap. Come on! Why am I remembering her words?! But it's true though, I'm just a burden to him. Who would want a wife like me?

A gasp escapes my lips as a force pushes me down onto the couch. He hovers above me gripping my wrists to the sides of my head. W-What is h-he…?

"W-What are you-"

"Look at me," The man above me growls as my heart thumps.

"H-Hey, u-um…"

"Is it that hard for you to look at me?" He shouts as I gulp.

I try to wiggle my wrists free from his grasps as he tightens them.

"L-Let go."

Why is he acting like this? What is his reasoning behind this?

The man above me leans closer as my body tenses.

"W-What are you d-doing?"

He said nothing, simply leaned down and pressed his lips into my neck. W-What? He began to apply more pressure with every move of his lips against my skin as I freeze.

(Pulse)

(Flash):

A girl whimpers in terror as a man pins her to a wall. The booming of thunder roars as the man's figure loomed over her licking his lips.

"What do we have here?" A hand lifts her chin to meet a pair of dark brown eyes. "Why are you all alone little girl?"

"L-Let g-go." Tears leak from her eyes as her body trembles. "I don't like you. Let go!"

She manages to free herself scratching the man on the face near his left eye.

"Ow!" He hisses as he tightens his grip on her. "Feisty aren't you?"

"Let go of me!"

Dark brown eyes darken as he smirks. "Unfortunately, I can't do that."

(Flash)

W-What on Astral World was that?!

My throat locks as my mouth grows dry. "S-Stop it."

Why am I trembling? Why am I scared? Who was that man? Why was I getting pinned in the rain?

His lips begin to trail my neck applying even more pressure like he's letting all his resentment out as my heart thumps against my rib cage.

Why is he doing this?

"A-Astral," I gulp letting out a whimper. "S-Stop."

What is wrong with me?

"S-Stop, p-please."

The man on top of me leans back with an angry expression. "Why do you keep stuttering when speaking to me? Why do you keep looking down?"

"I…"

His grip tightens on my wrists. "I'm your husband. Speak to me normally."

Great. I can't even speak to him without stuttering. Why am I like this? I wasn't like this back then so why now?

"I'm sorry," Tears flow down my cheeks as his eyes widen. "I-I…"

My husband let's go of my wrists as he backs away.

"I… I'm sorry…" A sob escapes my lips as my hands cover my mouth. "I-"

"Stop apologizing."

"I-I…" I sniffle as his eyes soften. "I-I… I'm sorry."

Why can't I stop crying? What is wrong with me these days?!

Astral's POV:

"All I want is for you to be comfortable around me. Since when do you stutter in my presence?"

My wife looks down not saying a word as she wipes her tears away from her cheeks.

"Why are you so nervous around me? I'm your husband."

She stays quiet yet again as a sigh escapes my lips. Did I do something wrong? Why is she behaving like this?

"Anyway," I glance at the clock as I rise to my feet. "You should rest."

"W-Where are you going?"

Ah great. Now she talks? Considering her state right now, if I stay here, I'll make her feel more uneasy.

"I have something to do."

A pause flies in between us as I hear shuffling from the couch.

"I-It's late though… what work do you have left?"

Plenty. I could always gather more information on Katherine and her family. Speaking of which, I have to remind Waltari to track her every move.

"You should rest," I take steps towards the door. "Goodnight."

"W-Why are you avoiding me?"

I stop mid-step as her voice rings throughout the room. Avoiding?

Footsteps close the distance between me and her. "Do you dislike me?"

My eyes widen. What? How can I dislike you?

"Why would you think that?"

A sniffle is heard behind me as she inches closer. "If not then why have you been avoiding me?"

"I haven't been avoiding you."

"You've been gone the whole day."

"As I said, I've been busy. You're thinking too much about-"

"Have I?" A pair of arms wrap around my chest as her head lays on my back. "Or are you avoiding me because of Astraea?"

My body tenses as she tightens her grip. "Why would you bring her name into this conversation?"

I can feel tears dripping on my shirt as her breathing grows shaky. "After all this time, you still can't get over her?"

The amount of guilt that I have to carry. I could've done something to save her yet I chose the worst moment to freeze. Damn it!

(Flash):

Every bone in my body shakes violently. The scent of blood fills the air as my breathing labors. A blue hared 16-year-old female lays limply in my arms. "A-Astral," A blood-stained hand cups my cheek weakly as her shining pink eyes open. "I... love you..."

(Flash)

It's a wonder that I can face Astrid after what happened.

"I-I'm s-sorry," My wife chokes out holding in a sob as I clench my fists. "I shouldn't have-"

"Is that a habit of yours? Apologizing all the time?" My voice rises as I swerve around to meet her gorgeous purple eyes.

She steps away avoiding my gaze. "U-Um…"

"There you go again." I run my fingers through my hair. "I beg you, stop stammering and apologizing!"

The woman in front of me flinches as I step closer. Are you that uncomfortable around me?

"I'm your husband yet you keep stuttering." I let out out a breath looking at the crescent moon outside. "It makes me feel like I've done something wrong or something."

Could that be it? Did I unknowingly offend her somehow? Did my actions make her afraid? Am I sending mix messages with my hot and cold front?

Her eyes widen as she shakes her head rapidly. "N-No. Its not your fault!" She looks down biting her lips.

"Then what is it?" I ask as my feet closes the distance between us. She gulps as I lift her chin to meet my eyes. "Why are you uncomfortable around me?"

"W-Who said that I'm uncomfortable around you?" An audible whisper escapes her lips as I blink.

"Then why won't you look me in the eyes? Why are you stuttering? Flinching?"

"I…" My wife's hand clench. "Are you… mad at m-me?"

"Mad?" I ask in disbelief. "Why would you think that I'm-"

"Because I lied to you about Astraea."

Oh.

(Flash):

A cough escapes her lips as she pants. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I… I know that what I did was w-wrong but if you remember her…" My wife's voice cracks once more as a bolt of lightning illuminates the sky. "If you remember her then you wouldn't want me a-anymore."

(Flash)

"I'm not angry."

Her eyes widen. "You're lying…"

(Flash):

"Treasure the person in front of you or one day, you'll regret it."

(Flash)

I cup the side of her face. "I'm saying the truth. I'm not angry at you for that."

The woman in front of me blinks rapidly with tears dripping onto my hands. "R-Really?"

"Really." My fingers gently wipe her tears as they fall. "How can I possibly be mad at you for lying to me?"

"T-Then why are you…" She bites her lips looking down.

Why am I what?

"W-Why are you…"

A sigh escapes my lips as I guide her to the bed sitting her down. "You're wondering why I'm acting hot and cold with you, right?"

"Even though I'm not angry with you for keeping this secret," I pull my hands away from hers. "I am disappointed."

My wife looks down towards her lap. "I… I'm sorry Astral. I…" Her voice cracks as she chews on her lip. "I… I shouldn't have…"

(Flash):

"Y-You're my e-everything, my dear husband." Her breathing labors as a cough escapes her lips. "T-That's why I couldn't risk losing y-you."

(Flash)

"That's right." My lips draw into a thin line. "You should've never kept this from me. Do you know how I felt at that time? My childhood best friend, my wife lied to me for two whole years!" I shout as she flinches.

"I-I-"

The woman in front of me gasps as I hold her wrist tightly. "You what? Don't tell me you're sorry again." My eyes narrow as a fearful expression crosses her gorgeous face. "You think this whole thing will be resolved by the words 'I'm sorry'?"

"N-No. I-"

"Then stop saying it." My grip tightens as she tries to wiggle free.

"I-I'm sorry. I-I should g-go. Goodnight."

I yank her wrist back as a yelp escapes causing her to shut her eyes. "You're not going anywhere, honey."

I pin her to the bed as purple eyes meet mine as her hand lays on my chest.

"A-Astral," She squirms in my grasp as I tighten my hold on her wrists. "L-Let go."

"How could you think if I remembered her, my feelings will change?" I whisper as her eyes widened. "Do you honestly think that my feelings for you are fickle enough to just disappear like that?"

A sob escapes her lips as tears stream down her face. "You and her were the perfect couple but I… why did you make me fall for you?"

My eyes widened as the being beneath me begins to hyperventilate, glaring at me. "Why? Why on earth would you make me like you? Why is it you of all people? Everyday I have to live in constant fear. The fear that you would one day remember her. That you wouldn't like me if you found out what I did. Why?" Her voice cracks as my gaze softens. "Why? Tell me why Astral!"

Lily…

"Do you know how many times I thought about this? Do you know how guilty I feel for giving you that elixir?" She sniffles with labored breathing.

"Then why did you-"

"Because I love you." My wife hiccups. "Hic… I couldn't bear the fact to see you so broken. To see your eyes turn dull and lifeless."

"But still, to assume my feelings for you are that light?"

She looks down. "I…"

What am I going to do with my naïve wife?

(Flash):

"Yes, that seems counterintuitive but you've been isolating yourself for a whole month trying to distance yourself from your wife but look what happened?"

(Flash)

Dark's right. By protecting her, I'm actually causing her more pain. Ay-yi-yi…

"What am I going to do with you?" I mutter as I peck her forehead.

A pink tint dusted her cheeks. "P-Pardon?"

"Last month, I needed some time to process things." I confess quietly. "And, during that time, I realized something."

I can hear her heart thump against her rib cage as I lean down. "W-What did you r-realize?"

"Remember on our wedding night, I said that I like you?"

"Y-Yes,"

"Well, guess what I realized?"

My wife gulps as I lean closer until our noses touch. "That you hate me?"

Really?! Is she still not getting it?

"The opposite." My hands cup her cheeks as my lips curve into a small smile. "I… love you, Lily."

Her stunning eyes widen in disbelief as her mouth opens and closes with no words coming out.

"Y-You… W-Wha…" Tears drip from her cheeks. "Y-You… remember?"

"Somewhat." My thumbs wipe her cheeks. "I remember but at the same time, I don't if that makes any sense."

"W-What," She gulps taking a breath of air. "What do you mean?"

"It's like… I remember like all of my memories are here in my head but at the same time," My brows furrowed as I try to articulate my thoughts. "I feel like I'm missing a few memories."

Although there seems to be no gaps. I can't seem to find any out of placed memory in my bank but… why do I have a nagging feeling that I have forgotten something very important?

"How interesting…"

I direct my gaze back towards the woman beneath me as a silence passes through us. It's been a month since I saw her… a whole month without this beautiful creature in my arms…

"A-Are you lying again?" An audible whisper escapes her pink lips as her eyes shut. "Don't say you love me when you don't. My heart can't take it, Astral."

Why would she…

"Why would you assume I'm lying?"

Her beautiful purple eyes open to meet mine. "You love Astraea."

A pang lands in my chest at the mention of her name. Ow!

My wife sniffles. Her cheeks stain with tears as she forces a smile. "Even though we're married. You don't have to force yourself to love me."

I blink at her. "You think I'm forcing myself in loving you?"

"Isn't it obvious?" She nods turning her head to the side. "No need to worry, if you don't love me then-"

"I literally said I love you."

"You're just saying that. Please, stop lying to me."

Her face turns beet red as I lean closer. "W-What are you d-doing?"

Our noses touch as her eyes widen slightly. "A-Astral… u-um…"

"You think that I'm lying? Do you really think that I am lying?"

Her body flinches as my lips brush hers. "A-Astral,"

"Answer the question, darling."

"Y-Yes. You love her. Since you remembered her, I'm-Mph!"

My lips slam down on hers as her purple eyes widened. How dare you think my feelings for you are that fickle! Don't you know me at all? Do you think this marriage is some sort of joke?!

Tears stream from her eyes as we part. "Please, don't do this me anymore. I beg you, my dear husband. Don't give me false hope. Don't-"

That's it!

"Listen up, Liliana," I grip her jaw forcing her to look at me straight in the eye. "I. Love. You."

Her eyes widened as my eyes narrow. "I love you. Do you understand what I'm saying right now? I'm not lying. Not in a little bit, Lily. I love you!"

"B-But A-Astraea…"

"That doesn't have anything to do with this matter." I cup the sides of her face wiping the stains away. "I love you, Lily. I love you so much."

"Y-You l-love m-me?"

"Yes."

"Y-You're n-not l-lying?"

"Since when do I ever lie about this? I swear, I'm not lying to you."

My wife sniffles as I peck her forehead. "Was this what you've been thinking this whole time? That I don't love you?"

She nods as I smack my forehead. Seriously? No wonder her self confidence is tanking.

"If you don't believe my words, then maybe my actions will be more convincing."

"A-Astral, w-what are you-"

"Do you not get my intentions, my love?" My breath hits her lips as a shiver courses through her body.

"I… uh…" Her eyes drift down.

"Do you not want to?"

"N-No. It's not that…" My wife's face flushes as her voice lowers to barely a whisper. "T-Turn off the l-light first."

Hm… we usually do this with ambient lighting but what's the harm in switching it up a bit?

"Why?" My finger lift her chin to meet my eyes as I peck her lips. "We haven't been together like this since the wedding night." Which was more than a month ago.

"Exactly. It's been more than a month since we…" She bites her lips as her cheek grow more red. "And… with this pregnancy… my body is c-changing… I um…"

"U-Um… I… I w-won't be able to… p-please y-you… like before."

My eyes widen as a few drops of tears leak from the corner of her eyes. You…

This person will be the death of me. I just know it.

I cup her face with a slight smile. "Listen, I don't care about that." My fingers wipe the moisture away. "No matter how much your body has changed, you're still you and you shouldn't define your worth on what others say."

Her eyes widen at my statement as I stroke a lock away from her face. Is she always this insecure or is this because of the baby? Whatever it is, I got to be careful what I say.

"B-But I don't look like I did before…"

I lean down. "Your attractiveness doesn't reflect you." I whisper as her heart accelerates. "And who said that you're not beautiful?"

"To me, you are beautiful." Her eyes widen as I start to tilt my head to the right. "Since the first time I met you at the arena when we were 6, I have always found you to be beautiful."

My lips meet hers as our eyes start to flutter shut. Soft, velvet lips meet mine as a pair of arms slowly wrap around my neck deepening the kiss between us. The scent from her floral perfume mixes with her vanilla conditioner to create an alluring and intoxicating aroma.

How I missed the taste of her lips on mine. And to think that I could go without it for months. Was I crazy?

"I love you." My thumb brushes her lips as we part. "Do you understand what I'm saying right now?"

The being beneath me nods with a pink shade on her cheeks. "Y-Yes."

"Don't you ever think that I don't love you, my wife." My lips curve into a smile. "We may have our fair share of disagreements but I will always love you. Got it?"

She nods as my lips brush up against hers once again. "A-Astral, t-turn off the lights."

"Why?" I descend to her neck trailing my lips along her collar bone as she gasps. "I want to see every part of you tonight, my beloved."

My hands slip towards the back of her nightgown pulling on the string as it hangs loosely off her slender frame. How can a being look so good?

"W-Wait a minute-"

I throw the night gown onto the floor as my eyes slightly widen. She quickly covers them with her arms. Her face flushes as she looks away. "I-I told you to wait!"

Oh… no wonder…

A chuckle escapes my lips as she pouts. "It's not like this is the first time I seen them. Why are you reacting like that?"

"H-Have you no shame?" My wife utters in shock as I peck her cheek. "P-Plus, it's been a-awhile."

So she's shy. That's understandable.

My arms remove her hands from her bare chest. "No need to hide, my darling."

"S-Shouldn't you… um… remove your clothes as well?"

I guess we're taking things slow today. Not that I mind.

"It won't be as fun for me to take off my own clothes." I give her a lingering kiss as her lips part allowing my tongue to penetrate through. "May you do the honor of taking them off, my stunning wife?"

The woman beneath me breaths heavily with a nod as she hastily strips me of my shirt and jeans flinging them off to the side. "Gladly, my handsome husband."

We stare at each other as our faces draw closer and soft lips meet mine. Her tongue protrudes mine as my hands run along the curves of her body making her breath hitch.

"A-Astral~"

I run my hands from her thin waist to the mounds of flesh that were her breasts, and squeezed them while leaning closer to kiss her jaw, then her neck. She runs her hands over my back as I licked and grazed the skin of her neck with me teeth, leaving little marks cause her to breath raggedly.

"M-More!" Her toes curl as sharp nails dig into my back. Her gorgeous eyes shut as I tease them more gliding my tongue around her areoles.

Her breathing was already getting a little louder and faster and she had her legs folded up around my hips, pressing me down against her. "You're enjoying this, my love."

"Hmm…" A cute moan escapes her lips. Her nails dig into my back as she throws one arm over her head as she arched her back slightly. "M-More, Astral."

Hm… the more I drag this out, the more fun it will be. Plus, this could be an experiment.

I take one between my thumb and index finger and pinch it gently as I kiss the skin around it, working my way to the nipple excruciatingly slowly. I suck at her skin, leaving a couple of hickeys. She lets out a hot moan pushing her into me with beads of sweat dripping from her forehead. Let's see if this is enough for her to climax?

Her breathing got more intense and her eyes lidded as she tangled her pale fingers in my hair. "Astral… oh… please!"

"Not yet."

"Astral," She whines in desperation as I peck her lips.

"All in good time, princess," I said huskily then went to work again with my tongue, twirling it against her sensitive, pale skin. I blow across her skin—and her nipple—teasingly.

"Mmm… bite me…" My wife groans squirming underneath as I feel a wetness in between her legs. Oh god…

"Bite you? I'm afraid I can't do that yet, my dear."

"Jerk."

My eyes widen as I lean back blinking at her in shock. Did she just call me a jerk?

"You got a lot of nerve calling the prince a jerk."

"I don't care." Her breathing labors as she once again wraps her arms around my neck. "You're not giving me what I need."

"What will you do about it then?" I challenged as her eyes narrow pinning me on the bed with her hovering over me.

"If you're not giving me what I need," Her hands dance along my stomach with a wink. "I guess I will take it from you."

My lips curve into a slight smirk. There's the confident Liliana that I know. Mission accomplished.

"You're all talk no walk, my dear." I whisper as her eyes widen. "If you-Mph!"

A pair of lips slam into mine pinning me down as her body rubs against mine. Her hands caress my abdomen stripping me from my boxers. Not so fast.

My eyes narrow as I pin her wrists above her head breathing raggedly looking into her gem-like eyes.

"Impatient much?"

"I need you." My wife whispers as I slide her soaking pantries off with a smirk.

I spread her legs as her face turns bright red looking away from me. A gasp escapes her pretty lips as I rub her inner thigh. Her breathing hitches as she pulls me closer.

"Why are you torturing me like this?" Her breath hits my lips as I trail kisses along her neck.

"Because I want to."

My fingers slowly trail her clit as sharp nails dig into my back. A hot moan escapes her lips as I nick the skin on her collar bone.

"Mm…" Her back arches against the back with eyes half-lidded. "A-Astral,"

My eyes narrow as a heart shaped birthmark on her left breast comes into view. This mark…

(Flash):

"One of them is on your left breast. The shape is a heart. The other one is on your upper back in the shape of a beautiful flower."

(Flash)

Why am I remembering that kiss between her and Brandon at a time like this?

"You're mine. You got that?"

"What… ah… do you mean?"

"That kiss between you and Brandon," I whisper as I trail to her cleavage. "It was an attempt to make me feel something, correct?"

Her private pulses as I graze her areoles sucking them. Her toes curl, her arms pushing my head closer as she lets out a whimper.

"L-Less talking… ohhhh…"

"Answer the question, my beloved wife."

"Y-Yes… ahhh!"

"You're quite brave to pull the wool over my eyes but it worked." I slide my hands towards her burning private as sweat drips from her forehead. "Did you know how angry I felt when he kissed you?"

I lean back gripping her wrists tightly. "To see another man above you, pinning you down and kissing you." My eyes narrow as the woman below me gulps.

Her face pales as her eyes widen. "A-Astral, I-I can e-explain. I-It was apart of the p-plan. I swear, I d-don't l-like him like that."

How can she be so cute when flustered? "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely!" Her breath hits my lips as her gaze locks onto mine. The scent of cherry blossoms and vanilla attracts me closer as her face grows bright red. "You should know this already…"

"Can't I get a reminder, my stunning wife?"

A smile crosses her lips as she pecks my lips. "I love you. I will always love you, my husband."

My heart accelerates as I zero in on her soft pink lips. "Kiss me again."

My wife frees herself from my grip pulling me closer caressing my cheeks. "I don't plan to kiss anyone else but you… my one and only husband."

Her soft breath tickles my nose as I relax into it placing my body weight on her. The lingering sweet scent of vanilla fills my nostrils as I part her lips slipping in my tongue making her softly moan in pleasure.

Her soft, soft, luscious lips. How is it that a simple kiss can make me so… fazed and out of control? When I'm with her, I feel so… different. There's something about her that keeps me wanting more.

"Baby…" A murmur rings throughout my ears as she pulls me closer by the neck as our tongues fight for domination.

I tilt my head a bit, cupping her face as we part. "You know, if this keeps up, I don't think I can focus on anything else for awhile."

"Are you thinking of someone else during a time like this?" She asked in a teasing tone as I roll my eyes. Oh how I wish I could think when we kiss.

"What if I was?" My lips curve into a smirk as her eyes widen. "What would you do about it, my darling?"

"Oh my," A shocked expression appears on her face. "I never knew I married such an unfaithful man."

What…?

"Hm…" She furrows her brows in deep thought. "Is it too late for a refund?"

What am I, a piece of grocery or something? A laugh escapes my lips. "A refund?"

"Mhm." Her lips curve into a bright smile. "If I can refund you, I would have limitless options to shop for more suitable beings!"

I blink trying to process her words. If I can refund you, I would have limitless options to shop for more suitable beings…! Does she mean that…

My eyes lock onto hers as an uncontrollable anger seethe through my being. A refund?!

"If only there was a way I can-Mph!"

I slam my lips onto hers gripping her wrists tightens as a startled expression etched on her face. My tongue forces through her closed lips as it's warmth welcomes mine. A hot groan escapes her pretty lips as she cards through my hair pushing me closer.

A refund? Not a chance is that happening on my watch. No way am I letting another man touch her, claim her addictive lips. No way will that ever happen.

She starts to run out of air as I part a bit allowing her to breathe. "My beloved wife wants to return me, huh?" Her chest moves up and down with each breath she takes. "I'm afraid I can't let that happen. You are mine and mine solely."

I whisper lowly as I smash my lips onto hers once again causing her stunning eyes to snap shut. My heart thumps as her body rubs against mine. The scent of arousal fills the air as I fondle with her clit. It's pulsing so much!

A moan of desperation escapes her lips as her body curls against mine. A tongue licks my lips as I insert a finger making her stiffen with a groan. Her lips are divine!

"A-Astral, I…" A muffled voice calls out as I suck on her tongue. Tasty!

My fingers pump in and out of her slowly as her body curls against mine even more. Beads of sweat drips from her forehead as nails pierce my back. A stifled cry rings through my ears as I bite her lower lip hard. Shivers course through her body as the nails dig deeper into my shoulder blades. The scent of blood fills the air as my beloved wraps her legs around my waist pushing me closer.

My lips bite her right nipple as she squirms in heat making her even more wet down there. "P-Please-"

"Mommy, daddy, what are you doing?"

That voice… please don't be who I think it is. Please!

My eyes snap towards the familiar voice as my heart leaps from my chest. A cute little girl around the age of two stands a few feet away from the bed in her pink nightgown. Her purple eyes with gold and silver specks widened in fear and curiosity.

My wife and I both pale as we look at each other then back at our daughter. How much did she see? How much did she hear? How long was she standing there?! Wait, why is she here in the first place?!
