Astral's POV:

Evening:

I can sense the presence of ten listening devices. If I deactivate them now, she'll be suspicious and knows that I know but if I don't…

A sigh escapes my lips as I open my eyes blinking. This is quite a dilemma. And to make matters worse, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to reconnect with Dark.

"What on earth is going on?" I whisper rubbing my temples for the tenth time today. Why won't this headache disappear?

(Creek)

The door creeks open as I can hear footsteps tip-toeing across the room. Now she returns?

"Hold it." My eyes open to meet her figure as she stands rigidly not far from my desk. "Where have you been all day?"

Her luminous purple eyes shifts back and forth. "I was out with a friend."

Friend huh?

My gaze drifts to the bouquet of pink roses in her arms then to the vase holding the red roses from the other day. Why would a friend buy you roses? Not only one but two bouquets? Doesn't that set off an alarm for her?

(Flash):

"Reasonable?" My voice lowers to a whisper as I snap my head towards her. "How is kissing another guy a reasonable act?"

(Flash)

Wait… why am I remembering that out of the blue? I internally shake my head. Don't jump to conclusions. Perhaps she was out with a friend. And besides her friend could be a girl or guy. I have no proof.

"Did you get that bouquet from your friend as well?"

"Mhm."

"Alright but try to be home a bit earlier." I said after a moment. "It's not safe for a woman to be out so late at night."

She blinks with a smile. "No need to worry. I was super safe!"

"Still, try to be home earlier."

A giggle rings throughout my ears as the woman in front of me place the roses on the table then gliding to my desk. "Yes sir."

Sir?

I blink at my wife as she pulls out my chair from the desk. "Hey, what are you-"

I shudder as her body straddles my lap. Her hand soft touches my chest as I gulp.

"What are you doing? Get off."

"You sure you want me to, handsome?" Her stationary hand starts moving under my shirt as I grit my teeth.

I can't. Under normal circumstances yes but not when Katherine might be listening.

"Yes, get off me."

A pout forms on her lips as floral perfume assaults my nostrils. "We haven't seen each other since this morning. Didn't you miss me at all?"

"Of course I missed you, love but now's not really the ideal time to be doing this."

"Oh?" I lean back as she leans closer until our noses touch. "Tell me, when is the ideal time to be doing this then? We're in the privacy of our room at night."

That's exactly why we shouldn't! We have no privacy as long as the listening devices are implanted.

"I still have tons of work to do." She looks toward the pile of papers on my desk then back at me.

"Are you saying I'm not important enough for you?"

"No, I-"

"Then," My wife's breath hit my lips as a hand caresses the side of my face. "Who do you desire more? Me or work?"

You… no no no no no no no! Control yourself, Astral!

"Isn't it obvious? You're always the number 1 choice, darling but I really need to get these sorted out by tomorrow."

A frown lands on her lips. "Can't you push the deadline back?"

"I wish but I pushed it back too many times already."

Sorry. This is the only way. I'm pretty sure you'll understand the feeling of knowing there are listening devices in your room, right? Probably not but you'll thank me later.

"Fine." Her lips pucker a bit. "But at least kiss me. I haven't seen you in like forever."

A chuckle escapes my mouth as I poke her nose. "Of course, my beloved."

My lips peck hers as her head lays in my neck. "Hey,"

"Hm?"

"You said you would get off."

She whines wrapping her arms tightly around my chest. "Are you this quick to get rid of me? I never knew you were so cruel."

Great. How am I going to go about this…! Perhaps…

"By the way, I'm just curious but what would you do if I cheated on you?"

Her eyes immediately widen and looks at me with a startling expression. "Why would you ask that?"

"I'm wondering that's all."

Amethyst eyes narrow. "I'll probably divorce you since you're so cruel and heartless to be in an affair while your wife is pregnant."

"Ah, that's great to know."

"Exactly how is that a good thing?" An eyebrow raises. "You want me to divorce you that badly?"

"Of course not, honey." My arms wrap around her shoulders pecking her pink lips. "But that goes both ways."

"If you engaged in an affair," A smirk crosses my lips as my hand brushes across hers. "And if I ever found out," My eyes lock onto hers. "Don't blame me for being so cruel, baby."

My darling's eyes widen for a few minutes looking at me in disbelief. "You think I would go and do such a thing?"

If Katherine is listening to this, maybe I can use this to my advantage instead of disadvantage.

I shrug. "Possibly?"

A hand smacks my chest as she gets off my lap. "How can you accuse me of such a despicable thing?"

"May I remind you that you accused me of the same thing?" I raise a brow leaning back in my chair. "Also, I don't know what goes on in your brain."

Her arms folds across her chest with an eye roll. "Sometimes I feel like you don't understand me one bit. You know how much I love you yet you think I can commit such an act?"

Sorry, my love. I hope you can forgive for what I will be saying next.

"Geez, can you calm yourself. You're being overly sensitive." I stand up walking towards my stunning beloved. "All I'm saying is-"

"You did not just tell me to calm down." Her eyes flash bloody red glaring at me. "You did not just call me overly sensitive."

And… here comes my execution.

"I don't get what the big deal is." I place my hand in my pockets looking towards the starry night outside. "I'm saying the truth. Stop being so sensitive and overdramatizing this."

Her fist clenches as her eyes pierces mine. "Out. Get out."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me. Get out before I kick you out of this room."

A snicker escape my lips. "Did you forget this is my room? If anyone has to leave, it's you not me."

Blood red eyes stare at me as objects levitates of the ground. A murderous rage surrounds the room as I gulp. Holy cow… did I take things too far? At this rate…

"Why do I have to be the one to leave?" I counter as she focuses on the ground. "This is my room or did all of the power and attention from being my wife has gotten to your head?" What am I saying?!

(Pulse)

I grit my teeth as a stabbing pain radiates in my head. I swear, this is getting worse.

"Remember, you may be the Princess consort but," What on Astral World is going on? "I'm the one in control here."

My vision blurs as the ringing intensifies in my ear. Why can't I seem to control my mouth?

"I'm the one who's controlling it."

"What?! Are you trying to get me killed?!"

"I'm helping you. Katherine is very hard to fool. We need to make it more severe. To make it seem like you're just using your wife and you don't love her anymore."

"But this is too far!"

"Go big or go home."

A shrill laugh rings throughout the room as her lips curve upwards. "You're the Prince but," She approaches me and pulls my shirt collar until our noses touch. "I got the power."

"Now, get out before I literally throw you out!"

(Slap)

(SLAM)

"Wait!"

Echos ring throughout the hall as I smack my forehead. "Darn it!"

"Son?"

Uh-no…

Enna's POV:

"Ow!"

"What did you do now?"

"Why do you always assume the worse about me?"

"Why?" My fingers dab the cotton ball to his cheek as he hisses. "Then care to explain why your cheek is inflamed and bruised?"

His gold and silver eyes glance downwards while muttering something inaudible. Hm… he was in front of his room and combined with the shouts and the door slamming…

"You two got into a quarrel, right?"

The being in front of me nods as I shake my head. "I'm assuming you were at fault?"

His eyes widen with a look of disbelief. "What? Of course not! If anything, it's her fault. She was the one who overreacted."

For some reason, I doubt it.

"Sure…"

"You won't believe your son?"

"Well," I stop dabbing the cotton ball to his cheek. "Growing up, you do have a history of being too critical and using less than ideal words to address a certain situation…"

"Oh yeah?" His arms fold giving me an expectant look. "Name one time."

"Remember when you made a council member burst into tears around the age of ten?"

"That was because he was being too rude and arrogant for my liking. I still don't see what was wrong with my words back then."

He still doesn't understand?!

"Son, you literally called him a 'pompous fool who is stuck in a child's body with an inferiority complex'. Don't you think you were a bit too harsh?"

"Hm now that I think about it," His hand waves with a laugh. "Nah. If anything, I should've been more critical on him."

Why am I not surprised?

"Anyway," I pick up another cotton ball to dab the medication on his cheek. "What was the argument about this time?"

"She totally overreacted." He rolls his eyes with a pout. "All I said was if I catch her cheating, I'll divorce her."

"What?! Why on earth would you say that?"

"Because she said that if I cheat, she would divorce me as well so I figured it should go both ways."

Oh my goodness. What the… doesn't he get what she is trying to say?

"What else did you say?"

He shrugs. "Nothing much. I said that she should calm down and stop being overly sensitive and dramatic about this."

He's kidding, right?

My face pales as I stare at my son. "Please tell me that's all you said."

"Nope. She then proceeded to order me to get out of the room which I refused because it's my room. Why should I get out of my own room?"

"You didn't…"

"Oh, I did. I suggested that she should be the one to leave and-"

"You got kicked out instead."

A sigh escapes his lips. "Unfortunately."

I don't even know what to say at this point…

"Let's go." I stand up pulling his hand towards the door as he yanks it back.

"What?"

My gold eyes drift back to my son. "You're apologizing. Let's go."

"What? No!" His brows furrow. "Why should I be the one to apologize? I didn't do anything wrong. She was the one who-"

It's incredible how similar those two are.

"Son, when a woman is angry, the last thing you want to say is 'calm down' and 'stop being so dramatic'."

He blinks blankly as I sit back down on my bed next to him. "Why?"

Seriously?

"It makes them feel their emotions are invalidated and improper."

"Her anger was not justified. I admit, I could've worded it differently but still, why did she get so mad? All I said was-"

"Have you ever thought the reason she was angry was you said you will divorce her?" I raise a brow as he blinks.

"Ok, I did not say that. I said if I caught her in an affair, I'll divorce her. Those are two completely different things."

"Yes, but do you really think she is that type of person?"

A hand touches his chin. "I mean…"

"Son!"

"What?"

"You really think she's that type of woman?" My eyes widen as he shrugs.

"There's a possibility of that happening."

A possibility? Hm…

"What makes you think that?"

He mutters something underneath his breath. He should already know that she would never and I mean never engage in an extramarital affair with someone else so why? Why is he saying there's a possibility?

"Hold it, why were you asking about divorce in the first place?"

"I was curious what she would say."

This son of mine is so… I feel as if I failed as a parent.

"You heard that curiosity killed the cat. Well, in this case," A sigh escape my lips as I place the medication back into the the kit. "Your curiosity is going to be the death of you, son."

"Hey!"

My eyes meet his as I pat his other cheek. "You're lucky she loves you. Anyone else would've gotten beaten up."

"You call this lucky?" A hand points to his reddened cheek. "I'm the prince for crying out loud! How am I supposed to face people tomorrow?"

I stifle a laugh with a head shake. "You should've thought of that before you offended her in the first place."

"Mom, it's not funny." He looks into the mirror at my vanity. "I have a meeting tomorrow. How do you expect me to show up if I look like this?"

"Oh relax, will you?" My lips peck his forehead. "You still look adorable."

His gold and silver eyes widen. "I'm not adorable!" A pink tint appears on his cheeks as he rubs my kiss away.

What did I say? Adorable.

"You're always adorable in my eyes no matter how old you get." My arms wrap around him as he lets out a breath.

"I'm 19, not 5."

"So?" I raise a brow ruffling up his hair. "You'll always be my little baby boy."

His face grows to a full red as he covers it with his hands with a groan. This is so fun. I had no idea how much I missed this. Usually, we have to put up a dignified appearance when in public.

"I'm not a baby anymore." A muffled voice rings in my ears as I hug him tighter.

"It's amazing how fast you grew. It seems like just yesterday you were in diapers and now, you're already married."

"Please stop."

"Hey, remember when you would follow me everywhere? Gosh, you couldn't even sleep without me next to you."

"Mom, stop."

Stop? No way am I passing this chance up.

"Oooo, and remember the time when you kept crying because I had a meeting?"

"Why are you doing this?"

"Honestly, I never knew you loved me that much." My eyes light up as a memory flashes in my head. "And remember the time when you were jealous of your father? You kept knocking on the door and demanded to separate us. You even hugged me all night long and kissed-"

"Mom!" A shout interrupts me as I glance at my son who has his head faced down on the vanity clearly embarrassed.

I bet he's thinking of a way to disappear in thin air.

"No more!"

"Aw, but why?"

He groans as I burst out laughing. "It's been awhile since I saw this childish side of you."

"Since you seem to enjoy this so much, I've got plenty more where that came from."

"Why would you do this to me?" A whine escapes his lips as I peck his head.

If only he can act like this everyday and not be so cold and calculating.

Astrana's POV:

Hm… why would he have divorce papers in his drawer? I walk down the hallway stifling a yawn. Is he really considering divorcing her? No. If he does that, My hand clenches into a fist. I got to stop him. I will never allow someone else be my sister-in-law. Never!

A chuckle rings through the air as I blink at the man outside of the room. "Dad?" Why is he just standing there?

"What are you-"

"Shhhh," He makes a shushing motion to silence me with a smile. "You'll disturb them."

I raise a brow at that statement. "Who?"

My eyes widen as I poke my head through the crack in the door to see my brother and my mom laughing. Uh…

"Isn't he supposed to be with his wife?"

"He got kicked out."

"What?!"

Green and red eyes shifts to mine with a sigh as he shuts the door gently. "Yup. He got kicked out of his own room."

Here I thought that only happened in movies.

"What did he do this time?"

I'm willing to bet this is his fault somehow. If it's not, I'd be very surprised.

"I don't know exactly what happened but my guess is that they got into another argument."

Yeah but…

I crack the door a bit open to see his cheek a bit red and inflamed. Sheesh, he must've really messed up.

"Have you ever gotten kicked out before, dad?"

"Oh," Green and red eyes look at me with a laugh. "Yeah."

"Really?!"

"Unfortunately." A sigh escapes his lips as he shakes his head. "Believe it or not, your mother has quite a temper."

"You're kidding, right?" I glance back into the room. "Never once have I heard her yell before not to mention get angry."

"Oh, she does but most of it was directed towards me not you two. Plus, it happened behind closed doors."

Oh…

"Has she ever shown her anger in public before?"

"Well," He places his hand under his chin. "If I remember correctly, a year ago we thought your brother was in an affair-"

"Wait, wait, wait," I hold my hands up to interrupt him. "You thought he was in an affair?"

"Yeah. You should've seen your mother's face and tone. She looked as if she was going to murder him or something."

A shiver courses through my body as I rub my arms. Must've been scary. I guess that saying is true. The one who shows anger isn't the scariest rather the one who lacks it.

"But wait, if he got kicked out… where will he rest?"

"Most likely in one of the spare rooms in this gigantic palace."

My eyes drift towards the shut door then to the wall clock not far from us. "Why are you standing here? Shouldn't you go inside?"

His figure stiffens as a conflicted expression flashes across his face. "It's best if I don't to avoid setting him off."

I facepalm with a groan. "No offense but you need to find a way to patch things up with him."

"We've been over this, honey. It doesn't work."

"I don't care. If worse comes to worse, I'll find a way for this to work."

"Sure…"

I just hope this thing gets resolved in a calm and peaceful manner.

Derek's POV:

The next morning:

Awkward….

I glance at my two guy friends next to me who shrugs with clueless expressions. Silence spans across the table as we all look back and forth between the married couple. Did… something happen?

"Mother, Father, how was your rest?"

"It was decent. Thank you, Lily." The king responds after looking at his wife. "And how was yours?"

"Believe it or not, it was the best nights rest I've had in awhile." A little smirk curves on her lips. "It's nice to finally sleep and not stay up trying to satisfy someone."

"Oh?" My friend stabs a piece of meat violently putting it in his bowl. "If I remember correctly, you were distracting me from my work last night."

A giggle rings into the air. "As if I can distract you from your work. Everyone here knows that you're a workaholic."

"Erm hahaha," My golden eyed friend laughs nervously. "Brother, how was your rest? I heard you slept in our parent's room?"

"Considering someone had the nerve to kick me out of my own room," He eyes his wife with a subtle glare. "It was pretty decent. At least there was no one hogging the blanket and my arm wasn't numb from the pressure of someone laying on it all night long."

They snap their heads towards each other as I can sense the hostile aura radiating from them. It's official. They got into a huge fight which led her to kick him out of his room. His own room! Seriously?

"Mommy, why are you being so mean towards daddy?" A girl in between them chimes in as they look down.

"Aw sweetie," My friend pecks her cheek with a minuscule smile. "I could never be mean to your father."

"Says the one who literally threw me out of my own room." He mutters as she cast a warning glare towards him.

"Psst Star," My blue eyed friend leans next to him. "I thought you said they were fine."

She rubs the back of her neck sporting a sheepish smile. "They were fine but now…"

Obviously not.

"Um… are you two alright?" The purple haired woman speaks up after noticing their glares at each other.

So this is the Katherine I keep hearing about. My eyes narrow at her figure. She's supposed to be dangerous? This innocent looking beauty? Really?

"Why of course we are," My gold and silver eyed friend switches his demeanor into a charming smile. "Everything's fine."

If everything's fine, why are you and your wife glaring at each other? Seriously. I go away for a few days and they get into another argument. Wow.

She looks unconvinced but returns his smile. "That's great to hear and, um," Her fingers fidget nervously. "Are you… free later?"

I blink at her words as they register in my brain. Her choice of words, body language, tone… no way… she couldn't be asking him on a..

He blinks with a head tilt. "That depends. Why? Did you need something?"

"W-Well," She gulps as a tint of pink. "I a-accidentally brought two tickets to the movies and…"

Is she…

"A-And," Her purple eyes drifts down into her lap. "I was wondering if… uh… you would be able to go with me." Her voice barely inaudible as the room grows silent.

She… is… asking him to the MOVIES?! A DATE?! With a MARRIED MAN?!

My head snap towards my dark haired friend who is eating with an indifferent expression. What are you doing, Lily? A woman just asked your husband on a date yet you're eating?! And with an indifferent attitude to make things worse. Seriously?!

Her eyes meet mine with a raised eyebrow. "Are you alright, Derek? Why are you making faces at me?"

"Ah, I'm fine."

Darn it Lily. Do you really not care?!

This won't work. I'll get labeled as a total weirdo. Oh how I hope Astral doesn't agree to her request.

"A movie you say?" My friend leans forward with a shimmer of interest in his eyes. "What's the title?"

"F-Fifty s-shades of grey."

Fifty shades of grey? Huh… what an odd name for a movie title.

"Is that the one that stars Jamie Dorman and Dakota Johnson?"

"Mhm."

"I'm in."

"What?!" We all shout in shock except for his wife barely glancing in their direction.

"R-Really?" Her eyes widen as he chuckles.

"Yeah. The title sounds quite intriguing plus, it's not like I have anything to do today."

You go because the title sounds good?! What part of fifty shades of grey sound good? I glance at his wife who is sipping her water. Does she not hear? Is she not going to stop him? Is she insane?!

"Daddy, I wanna go to."

Oh thank goodness his daughter knows what's up. I love you Melody.

"I'm sorry sweetie but on the website, it says this movie is for 18 and older."

Her lips form a pout at her statement as she goes back to picking her food.

Darn it! Age restrictions! Uh… what to do what to do?

"You know what," My hazel eyed friend suddenly speaks up placing her utensils down. "Fifty shades of grey sounds appealing."

"Yeah," My brown haired friend dab her lips with a napkin. "I wanted to see it in forever now."

"Count me in." My white haired friend smiles. "I've never been to a cinema before."

Yes! If everyone goes then-

"I'm sorry girls," She bites her lips. "But since this is the premiere of the movie, all of the tickets have been sold out everywhere."

You're kidding me… right?

My friends all sink back into their chairs with s sigh of defeat. Is this a coincidence or apart of her plan? If it is her plan, I got to admit. Very well thought out indeed.

"Son," The king voices as he looks at him. "I thought you said you had work to do later this afternoon."

Yes! Work! No matter how much he wants to see the movie, there's no way he will ignore his responsibilities!

He tilts his head to the right sporting a confused expression. "Since when did I say that?"

"But you-"

"Father," A small curve overtakes his lips. "Surely you can't expect me to work all the time, can you?"

Green and red eyes blink. "Uh-"

"I deserve some free time to relax or else I risk becoming a workaholic." He side glances at his wife then back to his father. "I think you don't want me to become such an individual, am I correct?"

After saying that… I don't think he would…

A sigh escapes his lips. "Do whatever you want."

Yup. I guessed it.

A screech rings throughout the room as everyone's eyes divert to my dark haired friend. She stands up dabbing her lips with a napkin. "Please excuse me but I have an appointment to attend to."

An appointment?

"What appointment is it?" My white haired friend asks as she smiles.

"I'm meeting a friend."

"Guy or girl?"

Why is she asking that?

She raises a brow. "Why are you asking that? Am I not allow to go out meeting guys?"

"N-No. That's not what I meant."

"Relax," A giggle escapes her lips. "I'm merely joking."

"Anyway, I'm going to get ready." She walks upstairs as her husband stands up.

"Excuse me as well." He walks up the stairs after his wife as we just look at each other.

What the heck is happening here?

Liliana's POV:

"You're still banned from this room." My arms fold in front of my chest as he sighs.

"I'm just getting changed." He enters the room opening the closet fetching a few things.

I glance at the wall clock tapping my foot on the ground. "Hurry up. I have to meet with a friend in ten minutes."

"Impatient much?" His eyes roll with a scoff. "I think your friend can wait a few minutes."

The guy smirks as he slowly retrieves his clothes from the hanger to his arms. Why this man!

"Hurry up."

He shrugs. "You could change here. I don't mind."

Tsk. How annoying.

"I do and why are you taking forever?" I glance at the clock yet again. "Come on! I'm giving you ten more seconds before I throw you out for the second time."

He turns around with an indifferent expression. "You see, this is what I can't stand about you."

"Excuse me?"

"You get angry over the littlest of things." He gestures to the clothes in his arms. "I'm just retrieving my clothes yet you threaten to kick me out again."

"You were being slow. A bit too slow for my liking. Not to mention," My eyes narrow into his. "This is my territory. You should be grateful I let you enter this room."

"Your territory? Excuse me? I don't seem to remember this is your room."

I fold my arms over my stomach. "Now it is. What are you gonna do about it?" A smirk curves on my lips as his indifferent expression morphs into annoyance.

"I swear, you are so illogical." He throws his arm into the air.

Is that all he got?

"If I'm illogical then you're the most bluntest, arrogant, and socially inept man I have ever met."

"Watch your words."

"Or else what?"

"Mommy? Daddy?" A little voice interrupts us as we turn our attention to her. "Are you fighting again?"

"Sweetheart," I kneel to her level with a smile. Best not to drag her into this. "What brings you here?"

"Mommy, I don't want you two to fight."

"We're not." The guy across from me chimes in. "Your mother and I were talking about a few things. Isn't that right?"

"Yes. Your father is correct. We weren't fighting." I peck her lips gently. "No need to worry."

She looks unconvinced as the man across from me pecks my cheek. I stiffen as I immediately hit him but his hand blocks it.

Inside the mind link:

"You sure got a lot of nerve to-"

"Children shouldn't be exposed to their parent's arguments. It can cause many psychological issues in the long term."

"But you didn't need to do that!"

"It was the cheek, not the lips. Besides, I'm your husband."

"You think just because I'm married to you, you can do whatever you want to me? Sorry to burst your bubble but it doesn't work like that."

"Whatever. Let's limit our bickering when she's around."

"Agreed."

Outside the mind link:

"See?" He holds my hand with a smile. "Nothing to worry about."

My daughter's eyes shine in relief as she hugs us tightly. "I love you both."

"We love you too."

5 minutes later:

The door shuts as I wiggle my hand from his grip. "Now that she's gone." I open the door. "You leave as well."

"Ha, you call me cruel. Why you're twice as cruel." He laughs with a head shake.

"Leave."

"Okay, okay, geez," He mutters with a frown. "Have fun with your friend whoever he is."

He? How did he know that my friend is a he?

"Oh I will." I flash a smile at him. "Have fun with Katherine at the movies."

"Thanks."

(Slam)

My smile turns into a frown as I let out a sigh. How did it come to this? I throw myself on the giant bed looking at the ceiling. Come to think of it…

(Flash):

"Okay, okay, geez," He mutters with a frown. "Have fun with your friend whoever he is."

(Flash)

What was with that tone?

Brandon's POV:

"Astral,"

"What is it?"

I close the door to his office with a slam. "What are you planning?"

My friend stays silent as I slam my fist on his desk. "Why is she here? You know how she's-"

"I invited her."

"You what?!"

He… he invited her to the palace?

"Are you insane?" I ask in disbelief as he look through his documents. "Her family is up to something yet you welcome her in with open arms?"

"Sometimes I wonder that as well."

This guy. What is he thinking? I sit down the couch crossing my legs. "Even if this is to get close to her, don't you think it's a bit too risky?"

"Why would you think that?"

"Hello. Your wife is pregnant and her special skill is poison."

He looks at me blinking.

"Are you slow or something?" I raise a brow as he scoffs.

"You don't think I thought about that?" He walks over towards me sitting down. "She'll be fine."

"How will you be sure? You're not with her every single second of the day. Remember when someone poisoned the baby? How can you be sure something like that doesn't-"

"Calm yourself." His hand places a cup of water in front of me.

"Calm?" I stare at him with my jaw hanging open. "How am I supposed to be calm about this?! Her life could be very much in danger! I need to-"

"Brandon, if you dare expose everything right now, she will be in more danger than she is now."

What…?

His gold and silver eyes pierce mine. "Calm yourself and think. If you expose her plan, everything that I have done up to this point will go straight down the drain. Her family will probably know and my investigation will be futile. All leads about this will be lost. Do you really want that to happen?"

My eyes widen as his words slam into my brain with full force. Her life will be in more danger if I expose her…?

"But how can you guarantee her life won't be in danger?"

"If Katherine thinks I've lost all interest in her, she wouldn't be a target anymore."

Lost all interest…

(Flash):

They snap their heads towards each other as I can sense the hostile aura radiating from them.

(Flash)

Oh…

"So this morning you acted like that to prove to Katherine that you lost interest in her so she won't be a target, right?"

He shrugs sipping his drink. "Think whatever you want."

Why this friend of mine!

(Knock)(Knock)

"Astral, are you ready?"

"Yeah. Just give me a second." He stands up looking at me. "Brandon, I'm saying this once and once only," His eyes narrow into mine. "If you tell my wife about this matter, you and I will be having a talk."

I gulp as he grabs his coat and walks out the door. Something tells me 'having a talk' doesn't mean sitting down in a peaceful manner.
