Cordelia left the Bronze, wondering why she'd come here in the first place. It didn't appeal to her anymore. She was so ready for High School to be done and over with, ready to leave this damn town with its reminders of Xander everywhere. She'd known him since they were five years old. He'd been gone for more then a year. It was clear, either he was dead or he didn't remember her. They hadn't even been dating, just sneaking around and making out, but there'd always been a connection between them. She missed him and the possibilities he'd represented. She missed his sarcasm, his jokes, his awkward charm. She got in her car and headed home. Suddenly she slammed on the breaks, a big, ugly blue demon was attacking Faith. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time she'd used her car as a weapon. She gunned the motor and slammed into the demon, sending it flying. When she saw it get up, she yelled at Faith.

"Get in! That thing's coming back for more."

Faith scrabbled into the car, holding her shoulder.

"Should we go to the hospital or the library?" Cordelia asked.

"Neither, just take me to my place."

"You know, I just realized, I don't know where you live."

"Sunnydale Motor Lodge."

"Please tell you're kidding! Giles didn't actually put you there did he? Or that other Watcher, the one who keeps checking me out, Wesley?"

"Neither of them know where I live. They never asked. I assume they know, the Post bitch knew."

"Oh that is so not right!" They pulled into the parking lot and Cordelia helped Faith inside.

"So new demon?" She asked.

"Yeah, they call themselves the Sisterhood of the Jhe. They want to open the Hellmouth. Here, hold onto me so I can pop my shoulder back in."

The was a loud pop!

"Gross." Said Cordelia.

"Hmm, now I'm all worked up. I need to get laid."

"Don't look at me like that, you horndog, you know I'm not into girls."

"Too bad. I like both."

"So you've said before. So when are they going after the Hellmouth?"

"Tonight. I need to get to the school."

"I can drop you off, it's on my way home."

"Thanks, I'll take you up on that."

Cordelia dropped Faith off and headed home. It wasn't like she could help and Buffy and Willow didn't want her help anyway.

Faith made her way to the library. G and Red were preparing the spell they'd need if the Jhe demons got the Hellmouth opened. Buffy and Angel had weapons. Faith grabbed a sword.

"Where were you?" Buffy demanded.

"Ran into one of those Jhe demons. Bitch messed my shoulder up. Queen C took it out with her car and helped me set my shoulder. I had her drop me off."

"Cordelia saved you?!" Willow asked, astonished.

"It's not the first time Cordelia has used her car to save someone, Willow. She saved you and Jenny when the Master opened the Hellmouth."

"Oh, yeah. I forgot about that."

Then the Jhe attacked and they were fighting. The Jhe did get the Hellmouth opened briefly, but Willow and Giles were able to close it. Buffy, Willow and Angel successfully killed all the Jhe.

"Another apocalypse averted." Buffy said causally. "I'm too tired to celebrate or clean up, for that matter. I say we call it a night and take care of it tomorrow."

"I agree." Giles said. "Tomorrow is Saturday. It should make cleaning up easy. No students or Principal Snyder to worry about."

They were walking towards the exit when an explosion suddenly rocked the school. A section of the ceiling fell down. Angel managed to protect Buffy. Faith shoved Willow out of the way. Unfortunately, there was no one to help Giles. The section of ceiling fell on him. Once the others realized he was under that debris, they began to dig him out. A bone was sticking out of his arm, where he'd tried to shield himself. Once they'd cleared enough debris to see he was still alive, they called for an ambulance.

When Cordelia woke up the next morning, she headed for the kitchen and breakfast.

"There was an explosion at your school last night." Charles Chase told his daughter. "The report says there was a bomb in the boiler room. One person is being reported injured and in the hospital. Rupert Giles. Isn't he the librarian there? I wonder why he was there so late?"

"He runs the school's Archeology and Ancient Cultures Club, Dad. They probably had a meeting. I know him. He's a nice guy. I'll go to the hospital and bring him some flowers." Inside, Cordelia was desperate to get there and check on him. Giles and Faith may be the only ones that Cordelia could call friend anymore. She had to make sure, they were alright. She drove straight over. She spotted Faith in the waiting room and hurried towards her.

"Are you alright? Was it really a bomb or is that just a story? Is Giles alright?"

"It was a bomb, someone planted it in the boiler room. G ended up under a section of ceiling that collapsed. He's in surgery. He's been in there all night. They have to rebuild his arm, practically. The bone was sticking out and in pieces."

"But he's going to be okay, right?! Please tell me, he's going to be okay?!"

"The docs say he will be. He'll take a long time to recover, but he'll be okay."

"Where are the others?"

"We took turns. It's my turn. They'll be back later."

Cordelia sat down beside Faith. "I hate this town. I can't wait until graduation and I can leave. I'm going to L.A. you're welcome to visit, but I don't intend to come back here. Ever."

"I can't blame you for that. This town is murder."

"You did get the demons, at least?"

"Yeah. They briefly got it opened, but Red and G got it shut. Me and B and Fang took care of the demons. Hopefully we won't have to deal with them again."

"Hope is about all we have left."

"Ain't that the truth."
