Supernatural- The Hunter

Don't own anything

Chapter 5

Jody helped Castiel with Cole while Dean tended to Sam. Once they had Cole handcuffed and in a chair in the main room Jody waited till Dean came back to see what he wanted to do with the guy.

"Castiel maybe you should go heal Sam?" Jody asked worriedly.

"What do you plan on doing to him?" Cas said pointing to Cole.

"That will be up to Dean … personally I think a bullet to the head would be too quick for this bastard." Jody shrugged.

Castiel nodded and then left to find the brothers. When he got to Dean's room Sam was on the bed holding on to Dean while sobbing his heart out. At the sound of the door opening, Dean looked up while still soothing Sam. "Hey Cas how is everything going on with that asshole?"

"He is handcuffed in the main room and Jody is with him, what do you want done with him?" Cas looked at Sam and was about to get closer when Dean held his hand up to stop Castiel.

"I don't care, just get rid of him. Lock him up or kill him but I want him gone yesterday."

"Is it ok if I heal him?" Cas knew not to do anything without Dean's permission.

With a nod from Dean, Cas moved towards Sam and called his name, but Sam hadn't even acknowledged that Cas had come in the room. Cas looked at Dean, and then tried again.

"Sam is it ok if I try to heal your wounds?"

Sam looked up from where he was laying on Dean's lap and saw Castiel. "W…what?" Sam asked.

"Is it ok if I healed you?"

Sam thought about it and then nodded. Once Cas's two fingers touched Sam's forehead the physical pain was gone but the emotional pain was still there.

"Thanks Cas…" Sam then looked at Dean "Where is Cole?"

"Jody is taking care of that asshole. You won't have to deal with him again. How are you feeling now?" Dean asked, rubbing his hand down Sam's wet cheeks.

"No more pain but I can still feel him, and I feel so dirty right now. Think I will take a hot shower and then sleep." Dean nodded and then let Sam get up.

Sam was at the door before he turned around to look at Dean who was still on the bed watching him. "Is… is it ok if I came back… in here… to sleep…I… I can't…" Sam trailed off.

Knowing what Sam meant about going back in his room, Dean didn't want his brother going back in there either. "It's cool with me Sam. You don't even have to ask."

Dean watched as Sam let out a heavy sigh before going down the hall. Dean then turned to Cas and told him to keep an eye on Sam while he went and dealt with Cole the asshole. It seemed like Castiel was going to say something, but he changed his mind and left to watch over Sam.

Jody had just sat down at the table when Dean walked in. Cole had a black eye, a cut lip, some cuts on his face and arms. Other than that, he was fine.

"So, Cole you only came here to hurt Sam, right?" Dean asked.

"Yeah." Cole smiled.

"What did you think, I wouldn't have found out and kill you. You must have known that was a death sentence."

"I kept him quiet when he was just a boy and figured he would be quiet now. I didn't worry about him telling you but if that friend of yours had stayed away, then I would have been long gone with your brother." He snapped.

"That's all I needed, thanks dude you just signed your own conviction. Jody get this bastard out of here before I kill him and make sure he has a nice little cell for the rest of his life." Dean then punched the man a few times in the face before letting Jody take him to the car.

Dean went into the kitchen and grabbed a beer before sitting at the little table. Dean thought back to the last time they had left Sam with Cole and tried to remember if there were signs that Sam gave off that he was being abused by the hunter. When he couldn't come up with one, he let out a heavy sigh.

"Why didn't he tell us or fight us on …" Then he remembered the last time they tried to leave him.

Sam screamed and kicked and did everything he could not to be left alone with the man again until their dad agreed to let Bobby watch him. That would have been the last time Sam was left with the man. Since the outburst they never tried to ask Cole again.

"Why didn't I see it or question him. We could have killed him then and this wouldn't have happened." Dean angrily said to himself. "I'm so sorry Sammy, I should have protected you then and I should have never invited that bastard over." Dean cried.

An hour later Cas came in the kitchen to find Dean slumped over the table. The empty beer bottle on the table forgotten. Cas called out to Dean, but the hunter didn't wake. He placed a hand on his shoulder and nudged him. At the feel of a hand on his shoulder Dean sat up to find Castiel next to him.

"Yeah Cas?" Dean said groggily, rubbing his eyes.

"Sam is sleeping peacefully right now, and I wanted to see if you were doing, ok?" Cas asked worriedly.

"Just peachy Cas." That was all Dean said, getting up and throwing away the beer.

The next day found the brothers waking up in the same room again. Cas had brought a couch in the room for Dean to sleep on while Sam took Dean's bed. Dean had to wake Sam up three times from a night terror. Each time Dean asked if Sam wanted to talk about it, Sam just said no and went back to sleep.

For the past week Sam would stay close to Dean but wouldn't talk to anyone. He only ate when Dean made him, and that's usually when he went all day without eating. Dean was at his breaking point and wanted Sam to open up to him. He told Cas to try and see if Sam would talk to him, but Sam would then lock himself in the room for hours until Dean had to pick-lock it.

"Sammy please, you need to talk about this. You won't be able to get past this unless you open up. The not talking, the barely eating, and the nightmares. Sam you are going to end up killing yourself." Dean cried.

They were back in Dean's room with Sam sitting on the bed and Dean kneeling on the floor in front of his brother.

"I don't know where to start or how to tell you. I feel all messed up in my head. Sometimes I just want to end it, but I don't want to." Sam cried holding his head.

"That's why you need to talk. I promise it will help." Dean encouraged.

At the look on Sam's face, told Dean he would have to start the conversation. Thinking of how to get Sam to talk, he thought of an easy one.

"Why didn't you ever tell me what happened when we left you with him?" Dean couldn't get the thought out of his head.

"He told me he would kill you. Other times he said you wouldn't believe me anyways or you wouldn't want me anymore because … because I let it happen. After you came and got me, I wanted to, but I was too scared. Then when dad tried to leave me with him again, I threatened to run away from him and make sure dad couldn't find me. He was pissed but he never let me go back."

"Did dad ever ask you why you didn't want to go?" Dean had to ask.

"Yeah, he kept asking and pushing me to tell him, but I never did. He would ask if he touched me or hit me. Then it went to, what did he do to make me not want to ever go back. What was so bad that I would risk running away. After a while dad just stopped asking but I don't think he ever talked to him again."

"I'm sorry I couldn't stop him this time from hurting you. It was my fault for inviting him over." Dean said.

"You didn't know, and I don't blame you. If you tried to stop him, he would have killed you and I would still be trapped with him. What happened to him anyways?"

"Jody took him to the station. He will be going to prison for a long time."

"That's good. Thanks for talking with me. I guess it does help." Sam smiled.

"Anytime little brother. You up to eating lunch or do you want to wait."

"Actually, I was thinking maybe getting out of here for a while or something. I need to get away for a bit." Sam needed a change of scenery but didn't know if Dean would go for it.

"Sure, you mean for the day or want to stay away for a couple days?"

"A couple days yeah but …not alone." Sam whispered.

"Hey where you go, I'll be there." Dean promised giving Sam a pat on the leg.

Sam then packed a bag and waited for Dean to do the same before getting into the impala and driving who knows where for who knows how long. Sam didn't care as long as Dean was next to him, and Cole was gone. He would be fine. The nightmares were getting better since the talk. He still had a lot more to talk about and knew with Dean's help he would get through it.

"Thanks Dean." Sam smiled a true smile at his brother in the passenger seat of the impala.

"No thanks needed Sammy, that's what big brothers are for." Dean smiled back.
