Astral's POV:
"Go to hell, Travis."
"Aw," He purses his lips sporting a frown. "You're going to act as if we don't know each other?"
"You brought a semi-automated weapon to a public setting." My fist clenches as he stands across the alleyway. "What made you think it was okay to do such a thing?"
"I think the question is why are you here of all places?" He twirls a finger at me. "You think because you styled yourself differently then before means I don't recognize you?" Grey eyes pierce into mine. "You betrayed us, Twilight."
"I did no such thing."
"Lies! We took you in when you were wandering the streets. We gave you shelter, food, company. We gave you everything you could've asked for yet you go and-"
"I didn't ask for those things." My face defaults to its impassive expression. "You were the ones who chose to give me such luxury."
"You-"
"Also, get your facts straight. Your father wanted me to take over his position." A smirk curves on my lips. "It wasn't my fault he didn't want a good for nothing sonlike you taking over the business."
"Why you little piece of shit!"
(Whoosh)
An arm swings at me as I dodge it. He growls narrowing his beady little eyes as he goes for another punch. I didn't want to do this but you leave me no choice. I grip his fist in the palm of my hand, twisting it as he lets out a surprising gasp.
"You! Why don't you fight back? You think I'm weak or something?!"
"Looks like you're still that reckless and hot-tempered individual from before." My mouth lets out a yawn as I make him kneel on one knee. "Your moves are too predictable."
"Oh yeah? How is this for predictable?" The guy kneeling swings his other arm around as I swiftly take it, twisting his wrist as he screams in pain. Doesn't this being ever learn?
"Haven't you seen shows?" I raise a brow as he struggles. "That move is always next when a being's arm is twisted."
"Grrrr! You bastard! Let go of me this instant!"
Bastard huh? Wow… A laugh escapes my lips as I shake my head. No one has called me that in such a long time. I glance at the entrance of the alleyway. Better end this quick before someone sees.
"Tell me, what are you doing here of all places?"
"Why should I tell you?" He growls trying to escape my grip. "I don't have to tell you a damn thing."
"Says the guy who brought a gun to the mall." Thankfully he didn't fire or else at least a dozen or so would be wounded. "Now tell me," I twist his arm even more as he grits his teeth. "Why did you do it?"
This isn't his jurisdiction to act out. The capital is filled with police and guards. Not to mention…
"Isn't it obvious?"
"Reckless little twerp." My eyes roll as his grey eyes widen.
"Hey!"
"You really want to get yourself killed?"
He scoffs with a grunt. "Shut up. Looking at you now, you're not that much older than me. Probably a year older at most and since when did you care for my safety huh?"
"I don't." I click my tongue on the roof of my mouth. "You could die for all I care." However…
"You've always been such a hypocrite, Twilight. It's a wonder how you're able to convince these pathetic people using your filthy words." The guy struggles as I kick his body down towards the cement. "Let go of me!"
"What's the magic word?"
"Argh! You'll pay for humiliating me like this."
"That's not the magic word." A smirk crosses my lips as raise a brow. "Considering that we knew each other for some time now, I won't turn you in to the King and Queen as long as you say the magic word."
"Fuck off! You think you can threaten me with the King and Queen? Ha, I doubt they even know what's going on. Those rich jerks imposing their power and authority over people. Who put them into the position of power anyway?"
"Since when have they impose anything on the people?"
"The new laws are ridiculous. In the past, we can roam freely and do whatever we what. Now, we have such limited freedom to-"
"You call imposing laws to protect beings from you ridiculous?" If it weren't for those laws, he would've gone around killing every being he sees. "Just be glad the King didn't hunt you down."
"As if I would be scared of a bunch of rich people." Grey eyes roll. "They don't understand how lucky they are. Getting three meals a day, a safe place to live, money. They don't get what we had to go through-"
"Just because they are different than you, you automatically assume they don't understand what it's like-"
"They don't! Those rich people never suffered before. I bet they have never begged for food just to survive. They'd never-"
"That's not an excuse!" My blood boils as I clench my fist. Just because you went through such a thing, doesn't excuse you from taking it out on innocent individuals! "You brought a gun of all things to a place filled with innocents. Don't you see anything wrong with that?"
"Hm? Let me think… nope."
"How can you-"
"Wait a second," He turns to me blinking blankly. "Since when did a cold-blooded killer like you start caring for other people?"
Uh-oh…
"Don't tell me you're-"
"As if I care for those pathetic beings." My eyes roll. "I'm just concerned you causing trouble and I have to clean up your mess as I usually do."
"You take that back! I do not start trouble!"
"Right…" Cue the time where I had to put out a fire to prevent him burning down the whole forest. "Anywho, it may be in your best interest to leave."
"Why's that?" He raises a brow. "Scared I'm going to do something to your loved ones?"
"Loved ones?" My brows furrow. "Travis, you know I don't have anything of that sort."
"Then who was that woman you were with?" He of all beings can't know about this! "You seemed awfully close with her."
"Oh her?" I let out a sigh. "I honestly have no clue who she was. She suddenly came up to me and asked for directions." That should do it. "It was rather annoying because she made me miss the previews."
"You were headed to the theater?"
"Yes. A new movie just came out so I was planning to see it only to get interrupted by you." My grip tightens on his arm as he hisses. "You must pay for your actions."
"Ow! I never knew you could be so petty. Ow! Ok, ok. Stop twisting my arm!"
"Are you sorry for what you did?"
"No way! I will never-ow!" The guy on the ground shouts breathing in through his teeth. "You motherfucker! Just wait until I-"
"Be glad this is all I'm doing. I could've killed you when I saw you holding that gun."
"And why didn't you?"
"I didn't feel like it." Plus, I promised your father I would spare your life if you did anything immoral. "Killing you would be such a chore."
He snorts. "Puh-lease. You're Twilight. The one who can kill without changing expressions or feeling anything while doing so. If you view murder as a chore, what does that make the rest of us? If you're going to come up with an excuse, at least put in some effort." A yawn escapes his lips. "You expect me to believe one of the best and skillful killers out there thinks killing is a chore?"
"No. What I meant was I didn't kill you because you're not worthy of such a thing."
"Did you just say-"
"You, Travis Vincenzo, are not worthy of dying by my hands." My eyes narrow as I slowly release my grip on his body. "I'm letting you off with a warning but the next time I see you near the capital, don't expect me to let you walk once more."
"Just who do you think you are?" He scowls raising his hand over his head. "You dare threaten me you little bitch? If it wasn't for my father, you would've died by the hands of those inferior gang members. Heck, you could've died because of your own stupidity! Walking in such a dangerous place at night." A laugh rings through my ears as my hands clench into a fist. "Did your mother drop you on the head as a baby? Oh whoops. My bad. I forget that you have no parents. Hah… maybe if you had a mother and father, you might not be such a monster-
(Slam)
My body moves involuntarily slamming his head towards the brick wall causing a loud shout to erupt from his mouth. Crimson bleeds onto the cement as the guy's left side presses roughly against the wall.
"Do not under any circumstances refer to me as a monster." I whisper as my throat starts to tighten. "I am not a freak or monster of any sort."
"Ahhhhhhhh!"
I slam his head against the wall once more making his blood fly backwards onto my face. Calm down, Astral. Calm yourself. You can't lose control at this moment.
"I will repeat," I gulp as I lean closer to his ear. "I don't care if you live or die but if I see you in the capital," My tone lowers into a whisper as I pick up the knife from the ground holding it directly on his trachea. "You're going to wish you'd never met me."
Astrana's POV:
"Brother!" I holler as I scan the streets. How odd. Where is he? "Adrien!" Who in their right mind would bring a gun to the mall? That person must've been crazy.
(Bump)
"Ow!" Something rams into me as I rub my shoulder. "Look where you're going will you?"
I open one of my eyes to meet a guy with pale blue hair and black sunglasses. "Lucky!" Thank goodness I found him. "Where were you? Are you alright?" He prevented the guy from shooting the entire mall!
"Hm? Oh yes. I'm perfectly fine."
"Are you sure?" The guy in front of me nods his head. Hm… "Did you manage to catch him?"
"Unfortunately, he got away but no need to worry, the next time I see him," His face defaults to his impassive demeanor. "He's going to wish he were dead."
A shiver crawls down my spine as I gulp. His tone…
"Don't be silly," I let out a laugh while I place a hand on his shoulder. "You mean you're going to turn him in, right?"
Surely he doesn't mean he's going to kill him or anything like that. My brother would never murder a being unless he had a good enough reason to. Then again, it's against the law and even though he's the Crown Prince, he's not exempt from it.
"Right." His lips crack the tiniest smile. "Eliphas will behead him."
"Okay. Can we not talk about killing?" It's unsettling how he smiles at the mention of death. My eyes widen as a soft gasp escapes my lips. Could he still be suicidal?! No! I have to change the subject!
"Brother," I dig through the bags and pull out a case. "I got you a new phone."
"Why?"
"I accidentally broke your old phone remember?" Hopefully he won't be too mad. "So I brought you a new one."
"You didn't need to. I have plenty of phones laying around."
He does?
"I wanted to. Plus," I bite my lip. "I didn't get anything for you on your birthday so consider this a birthday gift."
The man in front of me looks at the phone in his hands then back to me. "You honestly didn't have to-"
"Well, I got it anyway." I blurt out furrowing my brows. "You're always like this."
"Excuse me?"
"You always say that you're fine and when someone does something for you, you have a tendency to reject their doing."
"What? No I don't-"
"Don't try to deny it. After all this time I have spent with you, you think I can't see it? You have a tendency to not rely on individuals."
"I like things done correctly. When others get involved, they do a poor job."
"What about the way you keep rejecting people when they do something for you?"
"What do you-"
"Just now, you rejected my gift."
"As I said, I have many phones. Getting one was completely unnecessary-"
"It's a gift, Lucky." I gently smack my forehead placing my hands on my hips. "You're not supposed to reject it."
"But I don't need it. What's the point of accepting something when you don't need it?"
Ah. This brother of mine.
"You accept the gift because if you don't, the person will feel as if you don't need it and will feel sad."
"So?" He shrugs as I roll my eyes. Seriously? It's common courtesy to accept it.
"Are you saying you don't want this new phone?" I grab the phone from his hand as he grips it tightly. "I'll gladly give it to someone more grateful."
"I didn't say I didn't want it." He uses his other hand to pull my hand away. "You gave it to me so it's mine."
"Can I at least get a thank you?"
"Thank you."
Why this brother of mine! "What kind of a thank you is that?" It had no emotion in it!"Where's the genuineness in your tone?"
"Huh?"
"Forget it!" A huff escapes my mouth as I spin on my heel away from him. He's impossible!"You're so oblivious!" What does Lily see in him anyway? He lacks basic understanding and empathy. Just because he's a bit beautiful, does not make up for the fact he's ungrateful-
"I'm sorry if I offended you in any way." A voice rings through my ears as I blink. He's apologizing? "And thank you for the phone, Astrana. I really appreciate it."
He… appreciates it…?
"Do you really?" I raise a brow at him as he nods. "Then go to a few more stores with me."
"No way!" His brows furrow as I take his arm dragging him along. "I have to-"
"You promised to spend the day with me, Lucky. Surely you're a man of your word."
"Well, if you look back at my history…"
"I'm talking about now, not about your past."
"Eh."
"Whatever. Point is, you're going to be with me the entire day so don't even try it with your excuses. It won't work."
A groan fills my ears as my lips curve into a smirk. Let's see what other ways I can embarrass him today? Haha, life can be so much fun!
Brandon's POV:
"You're overreacting-"
"Nistro, she fainted and complained of heart palpitations-"
"Since when did I say I was having a heart attack?" My friend raises a brow as I blink at her. She collapsed in my friend's arms yet she's so calm about this. Did she hit her head or something?
"You," Hazel eyes narrow as she motions to zip her mouth. "Zip it. You tend to minimize your health predicaments so you don't get a say."
"But I'm the patient here and-"
(Slam)
"We came as fast as we could!" The doors slam open revealing the King and Queen. "Tell me, is she alright? What happened?"
"Your Majesties…" Purple eyes blink. "I thought you were in a meeting. Why are you-"
"I told them." Green eyes wink at me as I give her a thumbs up.
"Good going, Star."
"Of course we're here." Her lips curve into a frown. "What kind of a mother-in-law would I be if I didn't drop whatever I was doing after I heard you fainted?"
"Yes, and Nistro," Green and red eyes turn to his left as the doctor bows. "Is she okay? Are the twins in good health?"
"Your Majesty, no need to fret. Her Highness simply needs more nutrients that's all."
Nutrients? My head turns to the woman on the bed. How is she not getting enough nutrients? She's been eating a lot recently. From chocolates to different types of meats… she's probably having five meals a day at this point. Not to mention all her odd cravings…
"Liliana." The Queen focuses her gaze into her. "What did I tell you about not eating?"
"But I-"
"Even though you don't feel hungry, you still need to eat. If you continue to skip meals, the babies will not have enough energy and will start depleting yours to survive."
"Yes mother. However, I-"
"Honey!" A feminine voice rings through the room as she rushes to the bedside. Bright blue eyes look at her in worry. "Are you okay?! Did you hit your head? Are the babies alright?"
"What on earth happened, Eliphas?" Ruby red eyes cast a stern look towards the King. "I entrusted you with my daughter's safety in the palace. Imagine my face when I heard she collapsed of all things. You better have a good explanation for this-"
"Now Luca," The King raises his arm in front of his chest in order to calm the man shouting at him. "The physician said she fainted due to a lack of nutrition."
"A lack of nutrition?!" Blue eyes widen. "Sweetie, are they not feeding you enough?" Her head snaps at the King. "Eliphas. Are you not feeding my precious daughter?"
"I…" He softly groans smacking his forehead gently. "Carissa, why would I not feed her? I have you know that she has complete freedom in choosing her meals."
"Then why does she look so thin?" A hand grabs her wrist. "Be honest honey, have you been eating properly?"
"Of course I have. If anything, I've been eating more than usual."
"Hm," Her eyes narrow pursing her lips. "This won't do. Come on, you're coming home with me."
Our eyes widen as her jaw drops. What?
"Mother!"
"Don't complain. Let's go."
"But I can't just leave." She yanks her wrist back sporting a frown. "What would the beings think if I, the Princess Consort, leaves the palace to go home? They would think I had an argument with my husband or something."
"I thought you didn't care for the rumor circulating."
"I don't but-"
She waves a hand. "You can survive a few weeks without him."
"But I-"
"Mommy!" A little kid hops on the bed hugging my friend tightly. "Are you okay?"
She smiles patting her blue locks. "Yes. I'm quite alright, sunshine. Did I worry you?"
The girl nods her head as her mother sighs. "I'm sorry but you don't need to worry. I'm perfectly fine now."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Lily, pack your bags."
"Mother, I'm not going." My friend huffs furrowing her brows. "Why should I go anyway?"
"Why?" Her face defaults to a serious expression. "You collapsed because of malnutrition that's why!"
"No one said-"
"It's clear as day they're not taking care of you. Not to mention, you're pregnant."
"They are taking great care of-"
"If that's the case, why did you collapse?"
She blinks shifting her gaze side to side. "I don't… I don't know but I've been eating more than usual so there's no way I can be malnourished."
"It's the truth, Carissa." The Queen speaks up as her friend looks in her direction. "She's been craving a lot more nutrients lately and I for one has seen her consume all of it. If she wasn't eating, I would be one of the first ones to know."
"If that's the case," Red eyes stare at the doctor who bows. "Why is she lacking nutrients?"
"Your Excellency, I believe some vitamins like Folic Acid will help." Folic acid? "Considering Her Highness's current condition, I would like to monitor her health closely from now on."
"Permission granted. All I ask of you is to do your best to help my daughter."
"Of course." He bows dipping his head yet again. "I will do everything in my power for Her Highness."
"I don't really think that is necessary." The woman on the bed speaks up as all eyes turn to her. "I feel fine and-"
"Young lady, this is not for you to decide on your own."
"Mother, I-"
"When is it going to click in your brain that you fainted?" Her mother places her hands on her hips shaking her head. "Honestly, would it be so much to ask for you to care about your health?"
Amethyst eyes widen. "What? Of course I care about my health!"
"Then why don't you think having Nistro around would be necessary?"
"I'm fine right now. It wasn't even that serious to begin with-"
"On the contrary, Lily." The Queen speaks up once more. "You fainted due to a lack of nutrition. It's your body's way of signaling an underlying issue you need to address. It could be something simple as eating more or it could be hinting at something more severe."
"It's settled then." Red and green eyes land on the doctor. "Nistro, make sure to monitor her health daily and report any usual findings to me."
"As you command, Your Majesty."
My friend groans placing her head in her palms. "You all are blowing this out of proportion. I'm honestly fine."
Yeah right.
Zach's POV:
"How's it going, my lady?"
Green eyes blink as I pull a chair from the table across from us sitting down.
"Uh… what are you doing here?"
"He sent me."
(Flash):
"What's up?"
A butler bows shutting the door gently leaving the Prince and I in a room. My friend snaps a file shuts rubbing his eyes with two fingers. "Are you free later this afternoon?"
"Mhm. Do you need me for something?"
"I need you to go clubbing."
"What?!"
(Flash)
I can't believe he sent me to a club of all places. And what clubs open in the afternoon of all times? Usually, they open around the evening.
A sigh comes from the lady across from me as her hand adjusts her short black mini dress. "I can't believe he sent you of all beings."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I fold my arms in front of my chest. "Be glad he sent me and not some other inexperienced guy like Brandon." I bet he'd never stepped into a club before.
"Oh? Does that mean this isn't your first time going to a club?"
"First time?" I roll my eyes. "Puh-lease, I used to go all the time with the guys."
"Even him?"
"Oh yes." A smirk crawls on my lips. "Want me to tell you some stories?"
(Crash)
Our gaze diverts as the music grows louder. Beings start to fill onto the dance floor as the lights turn into flashing colors.
"Perhaps later." Her hands pins up her brown hair into a high bun pulling out two front pieces then securing it with an elegant flower pin. That's the pin that Astral gave her. Nice to know she's still wearing it however… "We have business to attend to." She looks at me. "You know who we're looking for, right?"
"Yes, but may I ask you a question?"
"What is it?"
"Do you have to wear that hairpin?"
Green eyes blink raising a brow. "Do you have something against it?"
"It just seems out of place that's all." After all, this is no place for such an elegant hairpin. What if it breaks or gets lost somehow?"Besides, If anything goes wrong, I'll be here to protect you."
"Thank you but," Her fingers delicately touch the pin with a small smile. "In case there's a situation beyond your control, I feel safer wearing this pin."
I guess that makes sense… that pin has his power resonating through it so basically nothing can injure or harm her. How unfair is that? I known him way longer than her so how is it that she gets something so valuable yet he has given me nothing if that sort? I have got to talk to him about this when this is all over.
"You're right Estrella-"
"Don't call me that here!" The woman across from me interrupts glancing around the room. "I have a reputation to uphold."
There are many Estrellas in this world. What are the chances the beings will automatically connect your name with the Duchess? It's not like you're a member of the Royal Family where names cannot be duplicated or anything.
"Must I remind you there are plenty of-"
"I know but it doesn't make me feel comfortable to use my real name in this place."
Ah woman. Why do they have to complicate everything?
(Flash):
"You want me to do what?"
"Protect the Duchess from any harm."
"But why does it have to be me?" My arms fold across my chest. "Surely she'll have servants who can-"
"This is supposed to be conducted in secrecy. No one is supposed to know about this."
"But that doesn't explain why-"
"You've got the most experience in clubs." Gold and silver eyes stare into mine. "I would gladly go in your stead however, that wouldn't be very ideal since my wife would maim me. Not to mention, I promised my sister to go to the mall."
"I-"
"What's the matter?" He raises a brow. "The last time I suggested to go to a club, you'd happily led the way."
"Yes but that was before my father found out."
"No need to fret. I'll make sure he doesn't find out."
"Really?"
He nods. "Yes. Now," A hand hands me a portrait. "Look for this man."
"Why? Did he do something unforgivable?"
"If my hunch is correct, yes. He did something that should have never been done."
If his hunch is correct?
"What do you-"
"Zachary, your task is to aid Duchess Estrella into finding him and bring him to me." His eyes pierce mine. "Can I trust you to do this?"
(Flash)
Just who is this man I'm supposed to find? What crime did he commit that is so grave? Could it be murder?
Derek's POV:
Ah. This is the life. I lean back in my chair letting out a yawn. No interruptions, no drama, all is quiet. I could get use to this! My eyelids start to shut when a knock rings through the room. And it's gone.
"Who is it?"
"My Lord, a little kid wants to see you."
I must be hearing things.
"Who?" My brows furrow as I smack my lips in distaste. There's no way he said a kid.
"A young kid want to see you, My Lord."
He really did say…
I sit up straight raising a brow. "A kid?" I know I'm nobility but that kid really has to be a fan to come to the estate. "Let him in."
"As you wish."
(Creek)
A young boy around the age of ten enters the doorway sporting a neutral expression. His ruby red eyes pierce into mine as I gulp. Woah… why am I getting such deja vu?
"Hello there." My lips curve into a smile as I approach him crouching to his level. "May I ask for your name?"
"Why should I give you my name?"
I blink blankly at his words. Huh? "Um…"
"Are you Twilight?"
My eyes widen. Twilight? What on earth is that? I'm assuming that's a name. "No. I'm not-"
"Help me look for him."
Is he being serious? The boy stares at me with an impassive gaze. "I'm supposed to find him if anything happens. Help me find him."
"Uh…" What is with this kid? His emotionless demeanor is very unsettling so is his flat tone… "Who is this 'Twilight' in relation to you?" A father? A guardian of some kind? A friend? Also, what kind of name is Twilight?
"Help me find him."
"Do you know this person?"
He stays silent staring at me as I shift my gaze side to side. Huh…
"Do you have any parents?" I ask trying to break the awkward silence. Why is he so quiet? "Surely you-"
"The person watching me told me to find Twilight if anything happens to her."
The… person who is watching him?
"But you don't know who this 'Twilight' being is, do you?"
The little boy shakes his head. "I only met him once."
So… he doesn't have parents? What do I do in this situation? It's quite obvious this 'Twilight' person is using an alias. It's like finding a needle in a haystack unless…
"Do you happen to remember what he looks like?" If I could narrow does the physical characteristics, we may have a chance!
"He has blue hair and eyes. He is very tall and cold." Hm, "He has a lot of money as well." Probably middle to upper class. As for the blue hair and eyes… why that could be practically anyone. Wait…
"Did you say blue hair?" My eyes widen as he nods. Blue hair only belongs on certain individuals and is mostly associated with royalty. Actually, speaking of blue hair, it's really rare for a person who is not of royal descendant to have it. As for why… I have no clue. It's just the way the world works. Of course there are some exceptions. Hm, I drift my gaze on the kid once more. Did something happen to his family?
"Say kid," I purse my lips letting out a sigh. "Do you have a family?" Judging him based solely on appearance, he doesn't look homeless or in poverty but my only concern is how thin he is. It's like he hasn't eaten in days. "Why don't we do this? How about I'll get you something to eat then-"
"My guardian didn't return." Emotionless eyes stare at me. "She said in case anything happens to her, I have to find Twilight so he could take care of me."
What?
"Did you know what happens to your guardian?"
He shakes his head. "She just disappeared one day and never returned."
Huh…
"What's her name?" Why would she disappear without a reason? Don't tell me someone had the audacity of kidnapping her?! No. That would be ridiculous. Who would go around kidnapping a being?
"Elena."
Elena huh? My lips curve into a smile. "Well, I'll do my very best to find her and Twilight for you." If a guardian was looking after him… does that mean he's an orphan
