Cordelia had a vision of a pregnant woman being chased by a demon and Angel went looking for the woman and killed the demon. Turned out, he killed the wrong demon. The one he killed was trying to protect her from another demon. She ran off and now Wesley had brought Angel and Cordelia to a karaoke bar because the Host, a Pylean demon, was an empath and could get visions from people who sang for him. Which is why Wesley and Cordelia are currently being tortured.
"Oh, gods, make it stop!" Cordelia muttered. "How the Hell can he be that bad at singing? And Barry Manilow?! What the Hell is he thinking?!"
"Angelus could have used this as a torture method, it would have been quite successful." Wesley agreed.
Finally Angel stopped and the Host was able to give him a reading.
"Well, I know where you can find your missing girl." The Host told them. "And when you're done saving her, high tail it north. You ex squeeze is in trouble and needs Angel's Avengers to help her out, especially you, miss."
"Me?" Cordelia asked.
"Yes, your old squeeze would have come up with the idea of using a joining spell to fight their current big bad. But without hm, they can't make it work. It requires a heart, in other words, an human empath, which he is. The little redhead really screwed you all by sending him away in a jealous fit. Anyway, ma'am, you'll be able to come up with a new idea. I'm not sure what, I just got a glimpse of you coming up with one. Something about Olvican, whoever that is."
Angel went to the area the Host had directed him to and in a gladiatorial type fight, successfully protected the woman and her baby. Afterward, they headed to Sunnydale.
"Angel? What are you doing here?" Buffy asked, when they knocked on Giles' door, where she, Faith, Willow and Giles were trying to come up with a plan to fight Adam, a cyber demonoid created by an insane modern day Dr. Frankenstein.
"We got word you're having a problem, we were told to come help you."
"Told by whom?" Giles asked.
"I don't know if Buffy told you, but I've been given a purpose by the Powers, to help people in need, possibly with the reward of eventually being made human again. When, we're not sure, a long time, maybe. Anyway, my guide Doyle, sacrificed himself to save some half bloods that don't prey on humans. Before he died he passed his visions onto to Cordelia. She got a vision of someone in trouble. I killed the wrong demon and the woman ran off. To find her, we asked the Host, a Pylean demon who is an empath who gets glimpses of the future, for help in finding her. He led us to her and I was able to save her. He told us about your current problem, which is worse then you think. Xander would have come up with the idea for how to fight it, a joining spell. But that method won't work for you even if you came up with it yourselves. It needs a human empath as the heart, the one who binds the others together. Xander would have been that heart. The Host said Cordelia would come up with a new plan."
The others were staring at the flood of information that came out of Angel's mouth and then a bunch of questions were flung at him at once. A whistle from Cordelia stopped them. "One at a time people! Giles, you first."
"Visions cannot be passed on. They're are naturally occurring. One is born with the ability and it activates when one's mind has reached a sufficient level of maturity. Wesley, you should know that, the Council employs a number of seers, after all."
Wesley looked startled. "I did know that. Why did I forget that? None the less, she is getting visions. We have been able to help a great many people because of them."
"Doyle didn't pass them onto me? Okay, not now, we have other things to take care of. Willow, your turn."
"Xander's an empath? He has natural power?! Not magical?"
"According to the Host, yes." Angel answered.
"And he would have come up with a plan?!" From Buffy.
"Yes, just like he came up with the plan against the Judge and saving you from the Master. Haven't you gotten it yet, Buffy? You needed Xander. Without him here, things have been alot harder for you then they would have been otherwise." Cordelia glared at her.
"So you have natural power too?" Willow asked, resentfully.
"Apparently."
"And what is this plan you're going to save us with?" Buffy asked.
"When we were researching the demon the Mayor wanted to turn into, Olvican, we found out, a volcano erupted and destroyed him. Is it possible to transport this big bad of yours into an active volcano?"
Silence met her question and then Giles said. "It would have to be a specific one. Just randomly sending Adam to a volcano could put him in a dormant one. He could just climb out, in that case. And it would require a great deal of power. At least two spellcasters, if not more."
"Well, we could ask Tara to help." Willow suggested. "And you and Wesley both do Magic. Between the four of us, we could manage enough power."
"With Buffy and Faith attacking him as a distraction, it would buy us time to do the spell." Giles said.
"Aren't there volcanos to the north of us?" Faith asked.
"Yes, in the Cascades." Willow said. "I can check online with the National Geological Service for any currently active ones. They monitor them to alert people for an eruption."
"This plan may just work. Good thinking, Cordelia!" Giles congratulated her.
"You're welcome." She beamed at him.
Willow went to call Tara and check for an active volcano. Once she agreed to help and they had a target volcano, Buffy and Faith attacked Adam. Angel attacked Spike. The spell worked and Adam was successfully deposited into an active volcano, not even his power core could handle the heat and the casing melted. Angel dusted Spike. A good outcome altogether, as far as everyone involved was concerned.
