I got up the next morning and decided to go see Belle. I had stopped and picked up some books because I figured she would like them. I also need someone else to talk to and I miss having her around. I lightly knocked on the door and smiled once she realized who it was.
"Hi." I said.
"Hi." Belle said back.
"Do you remember me?" I asked.
"I think so. You're the one that stayed with me when I got here." Belle replied.
"That's right. I don't think I ever got to tell you my name. I'm Hazelle." I said.
"It's nice to meet you Hazelle. I would tell you my name, but I can't remember it." Belle said.
"It's fine, girl. You'll remember soon enough. But if you want, I can help." I said.
"Mr. Gold said the same thing. He's getting my discharged paperwork." Belle said.
"I must've missed him when I came in, but he'll be a little more help than me." I said.
I handed her the books and giggled when Belle's eyes got real big.
"I don't know how much help this might be, but when we met, you told me about all the books you read. I figured you could use some books to help you whenever you need them." I said.
"So we were friends?" Belle asked.
"We were and still are if that's okay with you." I replied.
Before Belle could answer, Regina knocked on the door. I excused myself but told Belle that I would be right back. When I returned, Belle was gone and so was Regina. Gold was pissed and sent the nurse to find Belle.
"What's that?" I asked Gold as I entered the room.
He showed me the matchbook and I was confused. Gold then explained everything about the bar and that he was going to find Belle. I asked him to keep me in the loop and I would help him any way that I could. Gold agreed and we went our separate ways.
Somehow when I left the hospital, my parents and Emma were waiting for me. Our mom and dad said that they needed to show us something. I got in my car and followed them to this field.
"Why are we in the middle of nowhere? Why aren't you guys telling us what's going on? Why the secrecy?" I asked confused.
"Because you need to see it." Mary Margaret replied.
"Great. That always goes well for us. Listen, whatever it is, it can wait. August was trying to warn us about something-someone dangerous." Emma said.
"Doesn't matter." David said.
"Why not?" Emma and I asked.
"Because of this." Mary Margaret replied.
We all held hands and walked through this barrier. We saw rows and rows of beans. I knew that Anton had a bean with him, but I didn't realize that our parents were actually going to grow their own beans.
"Emma. Hazelle." Anton said as he came over and hugged Emma and myself.
"Hey." Emma and I said.
"Are you here to help? It's not quite harvest time yet." Anton said.
"You're growing magic beans. That's what you were up to when I was in New York? Why didn't you tell me?" Emma asked.
"We are telling you. Hazelle had no idea either. We kept it a secret to protect the crop. Mother Superior, she cloaked the area. That way Anton can do what he does best." David replied.
"Actually, you haven't seen me play darts. But, yeah, I do this pretty good." Anton said.
"Um, Anton, don't take this the wrong way, but w-why-why are you so…" Emma went to ask but wasn't sure how to.
"Small? Cora. She and Regina brought some magic to make me human-sized. Kind of like it." Anton said.
"Enough lollygagging! Back to it." Leroy said.
"Wow. Dwarves really like to work. It's great to see you, Emma. Hazelle." Anton said before going back to work.
"You too." Emma and I said together.
"You want to use the beans to make a portal, to go back to the Enchanted Forest. That's the real reason you didn't tell me or Hazelle. What about Ogres and destruction and danger?" Emma asked.
"We can fix all that. We did it before, we can do it again." David replied.
"We can start over, Emma. Alycia." Mary Margaret said.
"So, you've changed your mind. You wanna go now, too." Emma said.
"Not my mind. My heart. After what I did to Cora, I think restoring our land is the best way to mend it." Mary Margaret said.
"It'll be good for all of us, the whole family. Henry, you, and Hazelle." David added.
"We're from there. Both of you are from there." Mary Margaret said.
"No, this world is… our home." Emma said.
"And it's been nothing but cruel to both of you. If we go back, I think both of you might be able to have your happy ending." David said.
Before I could say anything, Gold called me and asked me to meet him at the Mayor's Office. I told him that I would be there and hung up. I explained that I needed to head back and hugged everyone before taking off. I joined Gold and was shocked when I found out why we were there.
"What have you done to Belle?" Gold asked as we walked in.
"I'm sorry, do I look like a one-handed pirate with a pistol? You know who shot her." Regina replied.
"Stop playing games! She's gone and now she's someone else." Gold said.
"Oh, you mean she has her memories back? You're welcome." Regina said.
"Not her memories, her curse memories." Gold said.
"Yeah, from the curse you gave me. You see, all I did was jog things back in place." Regina said.
"Really? Because you're mad you're gonna hurt everyone around." I scoffed.
Regina just looked at me but went back to talking to Gold.
"Well, undo it, bring her back." Gold said.
"You know I can't. She crossed the town line. Her old self is gone. These curse memories she has are now real. Lacey's here to stay." Regina said.
She knew exactly what she was doing but she forgets who she's messing with. I don't play about the people I care about.
"Any curse can be broken, dearie. Now you are gonna help me…" Gold said.
"Or what? You'll kill me? No, you won't." Regina laughed.
"Oh, won't I?" Gold asked.
"You're on your best behavior because of your son. You don't want him to know who you really are, now do you? So I suggest you get used to Lacey." Regina replied.
"He may not be able to, but I can." I said.
Gold was shocked that I would do something for him without something in return, but I'm not doing this for him. I'm doing it for Belle. Regina just gave me a funny look because she couldn't tell if I was being serious or not.
"You won't either because of Henry." Regina said.
"Honestly, if Henry gets mad at me for beating the hell out of you to protect someone I care about then he can get over it. I've done it before and I'll gladly do it again." I scoffed.
Regina was shocked that I said that, but she shouldn't be because I have beaten the hell out of people before to protect the people I care about.
"All right. I'll find a way." Gold said.
I could tell that he was trying to pull Regina's attention back to him to try to keep some peace.
"Finding a way isn't the problem, dear. We both know what is." Regina said.
"Yeah, true love's kiss." Gold said.
"And I don't think our new resident feels the same way about you as you do her." Regina taunted.
"Then I'll make her!" Gold growled.
"There's the charm that should easily woo a lovely young lady. She'll most certainly fall in love with you at first sight. Oh wait, that didn't happen, did it?" Regina said.
"She will, or I promise you, there will be suffering." Gold said.
"Finally something we both can agree on. Good luck, Gold. Give my best to Lacey." Regina said.
I wanted to say something but Gold grabbed my arm and guided me out. I took a breath and asked Gold if I could take him anywhere. He asked if I could take him to talk to my dad. I agreed and went to see if my dad was at Granny's.
"Is this seat taken?" Gold asked.
Leroy just looked at Gold but I could tell that he wanted to say something.
"You might wanna run along. I need to chat with the prince." Gold added.
"It's alright, Leroy. I got this." David said.
Leroy left with the food and I gave my dad a hug. I could tell that my dad was happy to see me, but not with Gold.
"What do you want to chat about, Gold? Especially since you drug my daughter into it." David asked.
"Regina. She, uh, helped jog Belle's memories. And I didn't drag your daughter into anything. She wanted to help because she cares for Belle." Gold replied.
"That's good, then." David said.
"No, no. Wrong memories. She now thinks she's a scantily clad barfly named Lacey. She has a false life, as you did under the curse with Kathryn, only hers apparently involves a lot more alcohol." Gold said.
"What do you want with me?" David asked.
"I want to know how you did it. Even when both your heads were filled with false memories, David Nolan still won Mary Margaret's heart." Gold replied.
"You want me to help you?" David asked.
"Well, I'm certainly not here for the over-praised lasagne." Gold replied.
"You got my wife to murder someone." David said as he lowered his voice.
"Someone who would have killed all of you. Look, if you don't wanna help, that's fine. But if you do, for the first time ever, I'm gonna owe you a favor." Gold said.
"Come on, dad. You know you wanna help." I said.
"All right. When Regina cursed Mary Margaret and me, there was still a sliver of Snow and Charming. The real us inside." David said.
"And so how do I bring back the real Belle?" Gold asked.
"Show her the man she fell in love with." David replied.
We then went to the bar that Lacey would be at. I hope that Gold can win her over.
"You might wanna wait outside." Gold said as we saw this dude get turned down by Lacey.
"Yeah, yeah, bad idea. Come on." David said as we headed to the bar.
"Oh! Mr. Gold. You're, uh, you're back. Hi! Hazelle, right?" Lacey said as she looked from Gold to me.
"Right on the money." I laughed.
"As are you." Gold said.
"Well, what can I say? Love the ambiance." Lacey said.
The music then changed and I shook my head because it was awful.
"What the bloody hell is that? Let's get some "Panama" going on in here. You, uh, you like Van Halen? You're a hagar man, aren't you? Huh? What about you girl?" Lacey asked.
"Anything but this and I'm good." I replied.
Lacey gave me a wink before going to change the music.
"What are you doing?" David asked.
"We have nothing in common." Gold replied.
"That doesn't matter. You just need a way in. Ask her out. Go on." David said.
"I hope he wins her over." I said.
"Me too, sweetheart. Me too." David said.
We watched as Lacey agreed to go out with Gold and even came over to tell me that we should hang out sometime. I agreed and waited til she left before following my dad to Gold.
"Not bad, Don Juan." David said.
"Don Juan was nothing before he made his deal with me." Gold said.
"Regardless, you got her to go out with you. Congrats." I said.
"Indeed. Now I just need her to fall in love with me." Gold said.
Gold went to get ready for his date, my dad went to catch up with my mom, and I went to meet up with Emma. We were looking through Henry's book when Regina showed up.
"Reading up on Henry's father? Or maybe his grandfather? How long did you think you can keep that from me?" Regina asked.
"Well, I was going to tell you, but I was kind of busy trying to stop you and your mother from killing me and my entire family." Emma replied.
"I wasn't going to tell you a damn thing unless I was told that I had to." I said.
"What is he doing here?" Regina asked.
"Why the hell do you care?" I asked.
"Neal? Relax. (I know she was talking to both me and Regina because she knew that I was getting pissed off by the second) He just wants to spend a little time with his son." Emma replied.
"Funny, he didn't seem to want to spend time with him the first ten years of his life. But then again, neither did you." Regina said.
"And you think you can control Henry when he wants to be with us. You can't handle that and it kills you that he wants to be with us more than you." I growled.
Regina was shocked but Emma wasn't because she knew that I would do or say anything I had to, to shut someone down.
"You know what, Regina? How about instead of worrying about everyone else, you start focusing on trying to be the person Henry wants you to be before you lose him for good?" Emma asked.
" "For good?" What does that mean?" Regina asked.
"Nothing. Unlike you, the rest of the world isn't always scheming to get what they want." Emma replied.
"No. You're hiding something from me. Well, whatever it is, I can assure you of one thing. I'm going to find out." Regina said.
I took Emma back to the apartment and she asked me to hang out for a while. I decided to and we were talking when Neal brought Henry back.
"What, did you tranquilize him?" I asked as Emma opened the door and saw Neal carrying a knocked-out Henry.
"I just gave him a couple of bourbons. Kid's a real lightweight." Neal replied.
"Sounds like you guys had a full day." Emma said.
Neal placed Henry on the couch and Emma covered him up.
"Spent most of it at the park. He's getting pretty good with those wooden swords." Neal said.
"I guess that makes sense, considering where his family's from." I said.
"What?" Neal asked as he looked from Emma to me.
"You ever thought about going back?" Emma asked.
"Back where?" Neal asked.
"Home. Where we're from." I replied.
"Uh… I spent most of my life trying to forget that place. I didn't exactly have a fairy-tale childhood. You know what I mean. Why do you ask?" Neal said.
"No reason." Emma said.
"August came by the park today. He and Henry seemed to really hit it off." Neal said.
"That is gonna take a while to get used to." I said.
"You know, I gotta say, he's actually a lot cooler as a kid. Steals less of my money." Neal said.
"He'd be way cooler if he could remember what he was trying to warn us about before he got…" Emma said.
"Rebooted?" I questioned.
" "Storybrooke isn't safe"? Isn't safe from who?" Emma asked.
"Well, he always had a knack for being cryptic. Don't worry about it. You'll figure it out. If there's one thing I know about you and Hazelle, neither of you stop til you find what you're looking for." Neal said.
I went home after that because I needed to reset my brain from all the information that I've learnt so far.
